Weak TV Tuners, & Celll Phone Interference Filters.

- Something I see quite often after installing TV antennas are differences in reception from one TV manufacture Vs another. As impressed as I am with Sony TVs, In this video I demonstrate how the Samsung TV tuner performed better than the Sony TV tuner. I doubt this means that all Sony TV tuners are bad, and all Samsung tuners are good, but for this particular model the Samsung TV had less signal drop out.
The other thing I've wondered about are the cell phone interference filters that Channel Master sells. I've tried this filter in several locations and they have never helped here in Grants Pass, but I'd love to hear your experiences if you have found them helpful in your area.
This is hard to believe that high end TV have inferior receivers. The high end TV should have the best sensitive as possible for the reception. Nice work fella.
I live near 4G phone towers (aprox 300 meter), in my case my UHF antenna and FM/VHF/UHF combiner both have 4G LTE filter. I don't have reception problems at all. I found in the attic an old UHF antenna from early 2000s still in great shape, I installed an RG6/U trishield cable and replaced the impedance adapter with a new one that has 5G filter, the signal strenght is between 88 - 92% It's a Yagi with 19 elements. The TV broadcast tower is 27 km away.
Some TV tuners may have more error correction (ram and checksum data) than other brands. The ATSC system sends more data than needed to make the video, in case the packet was not received it can try to grab it on the second go-round. The Sony may not have as good of an error checking scheme as the Samsung. Have you checked out my video from years ago about how wind affects UHF channel reception? (it causes multipath from the leaf's on the trees moving). As always Dave if you post a video I have to watch it.
I use a stand alone tuner box and I get channels with it that my neighbors cannot & you can record shows with it as well.
I always have at least a handful of my 52 over the air channels pixelated at some point during the day. I've always assumed it to be weather related or space junk interference.
I use my 1st gen zenith DTV box. That unit has far better rx than any of my modern TVs. Great ch. cheers.
In Europe the TV channels only broadcasts on UHF band, VHF High Band or Band 3 is for DAB+ (digital radio) All UHF antenna on the market have an 4G LTE filter. It's built in the impedance adapter, even the FM/VHF/UHF combiners have an 4G LTE filter but for older UHF antennas there are filters available like yours at
What's actually inside the channel master filter?...couldnt be much in that small size.
I have started using these traps and have noticed that it does reduce interference. Most obviously on older FM receivers and tuners.

I haven’t used a cell phone signal filter but I have read that the Sony TV tuners are not as good as some other TV brands.
Samsunng is great, Ive had trouble with vizio power supplies burning out. Sony is probably a mixed bag, in stereos some were excellent, some were poor. They slap there name on everyone elses product.
What generation is both tuners? And what is the minimum of signal strength to make a image watchable? Every generation of tuner improves the tuner equalizer
I have come across this b4.... its cos the Sony is a bigger screen then the other, have u tested the signal going in the back of the tv while they r running?? u need to use a low loss 2 way splitter that has the exact same db loss rating per outlet to make sure both tv's are getting the exact same db input.
Is it pixelating because the big one is require more air signal to be processed.
