Finicky Little Elephants & What it Takes to Care for Them ✨

Watch as Phabeni shows us what a good little drinker he can be! Part of our treatment plan for Phabeni is a rehydration formula with electrolytes. Stavros helps feed Phabeni his mixture and Tigere follows it up with milk bottles. We give Phabeni teejel to treat suspected teething. We tried different formulas to get Phabeni to drink a full bottle and have found smaller bottles to work best. We have moved onto a new type of milk which we will update you about soon. We also give Phabeni fresh water daily to keep him hydrated, although water is always available in his garden trough.
We are offering him varied fruits and vegetables to see what he likes best. Adine offers Phabeni sweetcorn and finally he accepts! He also loves apples, although his colour preference keeps changing. We’ve offered him oats, sweet potatoes, pellets, you name it… he is not keen on these. He does love munching on the leaves of the sickle bush and fresh grass.
