I moved from the USA to Colombia. I live in Bogota. No complains except the horrible traffic. The northern part of Bogota is amazing. Medellín also feels distinguished without being extremely arrogant like New York. I think this is a country trying to be a big change.
The weather is great, the nature, the food, with good decent money you definitely can live like a king.
Bogotá has some amazing malls, better than most of the USA, it has a European vibe, also the latin vibe.
I live also in the northern side outside of Bogota. A bit cold but amazingly calm and gorgeous

Am practicing my Mother, tongue and making progress. 😂
Yes, it does get me frustrated at time's and specially with many hotels and restaurants; am hoping that people will take more interests in learning, English as it's the Universal language to conduct a serious, growth in business, worldwide.
      I tried German 😅
Most Colombians, who will pickup another language, will choose ; Italian and French; while both are lovely languages.
However, their uses are limited outside of their own, respective countries.

A few months ago a video went viral in which a foreigner ordered his food in English and the waitress did not understand him. The foreigner's Colombian girlfriend tried to mediate and translate into Spanish, but the foreigner interrupted her girlfriend and told her, "She has to learn." A Colombian who overheard the conversation interrupted and said, "She doesn't need to learn English, you need to learn Spanish." This sparked a debate on social media. The massive arrival of foreigners, and especially this type of attitude, has made Colombians more apprehensive and intolerant towards foreigners. A piece of advice: many of you want to leave "America", but "America" must also come out of you, from your being. It makes no sense to leave America to be America somewhere else. especially need to abandon this "gringo perspective" that you may not be aware of and that you mean no harm, but that is annoying and sometimes even disrespectful. This is compassionate advice to avoid a similar or undesirable situation. I hope you enjoy and get involved with the culture

The facilities were top notch - better than most US clinics. Now, I forsake the dental insurance and make a trip to Colombia every year. Dental insurance in the US, after all, doesn't really cover that much. To give some idea on the differences in services between the US + Colombia: I had 2 root canals and was charged $240 with the exchange rate of 6 years-ago. @@joannabusinessaccount7293 you need to calm down. I live in a neighborhood where I'm the only non-colombian and most everyone with kids has nannies, cleaning ladies and/or cooks, we have gardeners in the neighborhood too. I don't know where you're from, but it is a norm to have nannies, cooks and cleaning ladies (Empleadas), way before gringos started rolling into Colombia in packs. If you're on a finca, it is common to have a family or two who live on the property and take care of it, animals, and gardens. And, also, long, long history of this before gringos discovered Colombia.

@@joannabusinessaccount7293 also, your ignorance is showing. Most of the people that have those jobs are often coming from neighborhoods where they don't have other opportunities and were taken advantage of local community. My empleada only did cleaning once a week. She used to work at a flower farm. She earned minimum wage. When her son got sick, she was fired because she had to take care of him and it was hard for her to go to the flower far regularly.. When she worked for me, she could bring her son, she worked less hours and earned double, and could have more time with her son. We also helped her find more jobs like that and it helped her save money and get a better apartment. We gave her everything that we would be getting rid of so she was able to get stuff she could use and either sell or give away things to family or the church. We had old baby things that benefited her neighbor, a single mom. She was very sad when we had to move about 45 minutes away and let her go, and she said that she would even go 45 minutes each way to come work for us. We made sure she filled her times with good people to upkeep her income. So kindly, do think before you type.

Such has been the case in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan, more recently in Taiwan, Singapore, China, etc. why would you frown upon one of the natural phases of a country wanting to reach progress and wealth? I work from Colombia for British and American companies, and the contrast in the cost of living is very noticeable, you can live very comfortably if you have an income above Usd $43k a year.
Yes, it's true that the GINI index is 51.5, which makes it an upper middle-income economy so although you have the typical inequality you see in Latin America, Colombia does have the most stable democracy in the region and Bogota is more or less on par with most of what you'd find abroad in terms of gastronomy, entertainment, shops, culture, etc

Absolutely love this content! It's refreshing to see Bogotá showcased as a classic, sophisticated city instead of the usual negative stereotypes. After watching this, I'm genuinely considering living in Bogotá. Thank you!

Andrew, did I spy a bodyguard during that video? If so, why did you feel like it was necessary?

@@Black-Circle too much Hollywood buddy, it's not like a traficante will be waiting for you in every corner. Trust me I've been living here for the past 2 years and so far everything good.

You are not right. Bogotá is miserable to live. Expensive, unsafe, cold and with insane traffic. You only see the gastronomics and luxury estate which are good, but daily living there is outrageous.

The truth is, you may want to be chauffered around in a classy Benz, be a gringo and still do without the bodyguard. Ditch the Benz, take an Uber anywhere you want and you´ll be fine being reasonably cautious.

Safety thresholds are relative. You live in Tokyo or New Hampshire you may be an easy target but if you grew up in inner London or downtown LA you should handle Bogota just fine with a few added precautions. Like the narrator said, depends on the individual.

I’m loving this new video format. So immersive and really gives the vibe of a city. I am ready to start living abroad again in the next couple years and have been researching. Perhaps Colombia can be part of my new trifecta. Thanks.

Don't go, it's very dangerous, you'll get mugged on any corner and you can be kidnapped, don't say I didn't warn you.
