Digging your channel bruv. I’m an American living in Thailand. Been here for 4 years. Best decision I’ve ever made in my adult life. Keep it going. Imma be in BKK this weekend to pickup my cousin from LA. If ur around the SUK lmk. Maybe we could link for a drank. 🤙🏽
agreed. when i was in Bangkok, every morning, i'd go get my large iced coffee and thai omelet from the street vendors under the overpass. All in, less than $2 and I'd tip them a dollar every time. After the second day, they'd pull me to the front of the line every morning. I went to terminal 21, loaded 10 bucks on my card to go through the food court. I ate from 2 stalls for every meal for 3 days and literally had 4 bucks left at the end. Same thing when I was in Tokyo 2 weeks ago. The biggest thing for me though is not only everything is cheaper, but people respect eachother. People work hard, service is great. Here in the states, not only does the service typically suck, but also people expect you to tip them and pay a premium for garbage.
Thailand is still a country that produces its own food. It has a huge agricultural economy. Most food in U.S. is imported from other countries except cattle hence why meat is less expensive in U.S. than in Thailand. Poor people in Thailand eat better and healthier than people here in U.S. I am planning my move to Thailand as well away in the near future from Pennsylvania cold weather. Bangkok is the NYC of Southeast Asia.
Chicken is very inexpensive in Thailand and we export a lot of them to the world. Pork and seafood are not so cheap but quite affordable. Beef is very expensive because Thailand produces far less than enough for domestic consumption. Domestic beef is of poor quality and the good quality one needs to be imported at a premium price.
I always say that my 3 must haves for a place to live are Safe, affordable and delicious. Thailand hits those head on. Very few place on earth have all 3.
Safe as just not about crime, but natural phenomenon as well. Thailand doesnt have big storm, hurricanes, major earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, snow blizzard, only a minor flooding from time to time which is everywhere nowadays, so that alone you cut costs on clothings and stuff that you need in the US but not here.
Right there with you bro. Left WA in 2019 for Thailand. Started in BKK (Ekkamai) and eventually settled in Jomtien. Best decision I ever made. The US is declining into a 3rd world banana republic. I'll never go back. The quality of life here is incredible.

Funnily enough my bro is living in bkk right now and we’re both at the start of the road learning to trade ourselves.
Hey, I remember when we both went on separate adventures. You went to Thailand, and I went to Colombia. It seems like something caused you to move to your new home, and now I see that you have started sharing your thoughts on a vlog in 2024. When I left in 2007, I had similar reasons for doing so. By the way, it is important to vote in 2024 as if OUR future depends on it, because it really does!
Thank you for making this video and for your kind words about Thailand. I really admire people from western countries like you who have much more mobility than us Thais. You are not attached to one place and are adventurous and courageous. Settling in a totally new and exotic country on the other side of the world is not an easy task. I know Thailand, especially Bangkok, isn't for everyone and it certainly has a few drawbacks. But for some people like yourself, Bangkok can be a perfect place to call home.
I got fed up with living in the US so I finally put my foot down and went back to school. I found a job and will be living in Thailand soon and am really looking forward to it
Depends where in America. I am Southeast Asian American from NYC and NYC is very similar to Bangkok in terms of the level of random social interaction on the street. I think NYC is probably the only Western city in the world that is similar to the large Asian cities in that way. Also, no one drives in NYC either, everyone walks everywhere or takes public transportation, ubers and cabs.
This is definitely a rarity. Basically, only the most dense and populated cities in USA have this. Almost all of the "normal" areas are built with cars in mind over the last 90 years or so. Huge suburbs with developments designed for the houses to be in one area, then hop on the highway to get to the giant box stores or strip mall restaurants.
Exactly! That’s why NYC is my favorite city in the US by far, I love the chaos! Sad that America doesn’t have more like it, the chaos is so much more fun!
@@PP-rs7qo Oh yeah Bangkok is much better, but for me it's because there is just more buzz in the street with so many more tourists, street food vendors, heavy traffic, people walking everywhere - there is more action and it feels more lively than NYC. People are very poor there. They’re going into the city to make a wage. If you live there like a local, you won’t be buying a steak. The reason why you get to buy those steaks is because you were born in the USA and grew up in the USA and have the opportunity to prosper, and not work in the field. You have a good education, good housing and support. Handover your passport and live in Thailand and see what happens to you in five years when things may not be going so well and you need to make some money. Don’t come back to the US. I get so tired of people talking about this type of lifestyle that isn’t real for the Thailand people. They are serving you. Just be clear upon what’s going on.
Sweetie, are you still trying to make ends meet in a cave? You sound so primitive glorifying steaks like that. It's grains that mark a civilisation and that's what our food is mainly comprised of. Yes, there are poor people in Thailand. Meanwhile, our middle class is sizeable. We go to the hospital for free. We have NO tents, used needles or human feces on our pavements. Our 14K+ Seven Eleven's open 24/7 absolutely everywhere, big or small towns, with ZERO theft or robbery. What's the situation like in "wealthy" America? At the end of the day, Honey, you're just another western woman upset that yet another western man leaving. Go get comforted by those girl-power-we-don't-need-no-man songs or something.
Your answer like this is not entirely correct. Not all locals earn minimum wage. There are also many middle-class and above-class people in the local area. Do you know how many iPhones are sold in Thailand? In 2023, approximately 2-3 million iPhones will be sold in Thailand. And in addition, Thailand is the country that tops up mobile phones the most, ranking 1 in 10 (ranked 9th in 2021). Every country has poor, middle and rich people. Therefore, the local people of Thailand that you quoted That doesn't mean you won't have purchasing power.
