BIG NEWS: The Fallout 4 Next Gen Update version 2 is now out. See my analysis of it here: ua-cam.com/video/7n_44DUa4Qw/v-deo.html Subscribe to keep up-to-date on results as I'll examine how well the update improves performance by running some framerate / frametime tests.
@@KenobiM8I know the unofficial patch for Skyrim was updated after that game received its 'next-gen' patch. Not sure how long it took but I'm guessing a month or so for Fallout 4, hopefully less.
For the last few years I've been playing Fallout 4 on a original Xbox One. I've provably played at least 15 times and never had any frame rate issues until recently. My last few playthroughs, my frame rate would drop by about 90% whenever I got close to Cambridge Crater, Greentech Genetics or Ticonderoga Safe House. The thing is when I first visit those locations, the frame rate would never drop. However, when I come back after beating the game when I get to be around Level 100 that's when the frame rate bug starts. And it occurs when I just fast travel or walk into the area, no fighting what so ever. Then today I went out and bought a Series X. Once I got it hooked up I went back to those locations and for 2 or 3 seconds the frame rate started to drop but then smoothed out and was normal. I can't explain it but I'll take a few seconds over 90 seconds any day.
That is interesting. If it is a result of a long play-thru it would not be easy to replicate (lvl 100! Nice btw). Good thing about the Series X is its really fast storage. So the ‘bug’ is likely still present but the speed of the SSD is minimising the impact.
@@ramnexus I was at Level 196 when all this was going on, but now I've started a new run with no mods so I can get 14 achievements that I still need to get, most of them Nuka World related. I'm at level 25 and those buggy locations I mentioned before. . .no lag at all, not even a few seconds.
@@michaelproctor8100 That's interesting. I'm no game developer but i know Bethesda games keep track of the location of every item in the game and load them into 'working' memory as needed. Could be there was some item in those areas which had trouble being loaded into memory in your old save - maybe they were clipping or glitched somehow. How do you find going back to playing F4 with no mods? I did something similar for Skyrim and it took me a while to get used to not having some of the 'quality of life' mods.
@@ramnexus I only started this new file without mods to get my last 14 achievements. I think the easiest one is Time Out where you order a settler to place themselves in a pillory. I did that one almost a week ago and it still hasn't popped yet. I then moved on with Prankster's Return where you place a live grenade in someone's inventory via pick-pocketing and it pops immediately!
@@michaelproctor8100 Prankster's return! Lots of fun. They certainly did "pop immediately" :) I don't think I had any issues collecting achievements in F4, so the fact "Time Out" (pillory achievement) has not popped for you is odd. I'd just make sure I'm online and logged in and perhaps try it again. I had problems with Fallout NV achievements, but that was because the Xbox Series X had issues logging in to the 360 game server, so different problem.
Agreed. It is odd as the frame-rate between 2K/60 FPS Boost and the 4K/60 Mod is almost the same on Series X. So it is likely a CPU-limitation, not a graphical one. Not sure.
So the game never dips below 30fps? Yes, that would good to have. Good idea. Would probably require dynamic resolution scaling to stop the fps dipping. I know Skyrim on Xbox does that.
@@ramnexus Exactly! Locked only on 30fps, not going below, so the game presents an stable frame rate. But there's no mod that do that on xbox one, only ones that uncap the Fps
Howdy. That pistol is "Ultimatum", a unique "Classic 10mm pistol" I obtained during the "Tunnel Snakes Rule" creation club content. Looks good ha? Looks like i added a large magazine and suppressor to it. It is based on 10mm pistols found in older Fallout games. fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Ultimatum_(Creation_Club) Cheers!
I am on S but when I do a search I get no results. I am resorting to motting now because I have never once been able to beat the game all the way through. Since the 1st day I can't even go to Boston I've tried to play this Game On 3 Different versions of xbox still doesn't work.
Howdy. The mod is called "60 FPS Series S|X" but the good news is Bethesda just updated Fallout 4 on Xbox Series X. The update allows you to set the fps to 30 or 60 in the main menu, which is nice. This means the 60fps mod is not needed, and probably will not install. I uploaded a first look at this mod on Xbox Series S here, in case you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/7n_44DUa4Qw/v-deo.html Cheers!
@@bigt9914 No way I know of to run it on XB1X in 1080p, no. Even if you changed your console to only output at 1080p it would still render each frame at 4k and down-rez them, so no change in performance :(

I am most curious to see if the unofficial patch mod will become obsolete when the update drops

It makes you wonder why they couldn't do 4K/60fps with their in-house patch.

You’re very welcome. Glad you liked it.
I wish there was an mod that locks the Fps at 30 for all the xbox versions

Amazing work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Don't just get a framerate mod, make sure you get an ultra settings mod as well
I know this is really late and you might not respond, but what is that pistol mod you have at around the 4:52 mark?

Did the patch ever drop? 😅
Nope. Not seen any word of it. Maybe timing it with the release of the TV series? (Long shot I know).
@ramnexus looks like it wasn't much of a long shot after all 😂🙌🏽

Is it compatible with overdrive
By overdrive do you mean FPS Boost? No, not compatible. You choose 1 or the other.
Do I need the mod for the Xbox one X not the series X
I don't recommend the mod for the Xbox One X. It worked but introduced ugly screen-tearing and rapid frame-rate changes, which I found really annoying
@@ramnexus is that at 4k though? is there anyway to get the game running at 1080p to improve frames?
