Let us know your most addictive games of the year! Also don’t miss those outtakes - I think I got Glen good and proper with that one liner! Mark Also if anyone knows the name of that TEam17 factory game I couldn’t remember it for the life of me!
Might sound weird but I avoid addictive games that are time sinks. I like progression, a begging, middle and end. I loved spelunkey 2 but the amount of time it asked of me was so much to see an ending
I finally beat the most addicting game, Celeste, this year. At the beginning of the year, my grandmother forgot to put her car in park and ended up getting her legs rolled over. I spent a lot of time at her house helping her recover, and I had my Switch with me. Celeste was really the only thing I could play, as the short sessions made it ideal for squeezing in a screen here and there. Finally beating it and experiencing Madeline's triumph helped get me through those tough months.
Wait wait wait wayment- GOT HER LEGS ROLLED OVER.💀 It's the way you say things that ensures I'll go to h311😭😭😭 How did an unparked car roll over her legs?
Just hit the bell and your phone will tell you. I was playing Octopath Traveler and my phone popped up with the video. Hot footed it straight to the nearest save point. Stuck the lite on charge. Pick up where I left of in the morning great little night cap.
Hades has been my most addictive Switch game so far. The combination of fast-paced combat, challenging bosses, and a rich narrative that unfolds through repeated playthroughs keeps me coming back for more. The art style and soundtrack are also top-notch, and the constant updates and additions from the developers make it feel like a living, breathing world. If you're a fan of action games or Greek mythology, I highly recommend giving Hades a try.

And your content is always informative and engaging. Thank you so much. I hope you guys continue to do videos for a long time to come.
“Loop Hero” is super addictive. Just make sure to turn off the auto-pause after battles once you’ve gotten the hang of things. It really speeds up the game play.
Loop hero and Backpack hero consistently get mixed up in my brain. So I am so excited to hear Backpack hero has been released before the brain-restart and I get disappointed... But loop hero is tempting
Loving that you chaps are including the outtakes nowadays! Definitely a nice little chuckle to end the video on. Honestly so glad you guys are around - proper nice to have a reliable and no BS review to go off when thinking of buying a game on Switch

I am loving your 12 DoC vids this year. Your timing means that you drop your vid around about the time I get up in the morning. So my Christmas ritual each day has been get up, make coffee, sit down with you guys, and watch!. Such a lovely experience and my new Christmas memory. Thanks guys! Loving this. PS Loop Hero is my favourite!
My thing about Rogue Legacy 2 is how it randomises your character every run which allows for a much higher quality in terms of replayability. Definitely a game I find myself going back to in between new and old games.
Lots of roguelikes do that to an extent or another, though I've played so many of that genre at this point I can't name one specifically lol. It is a great feature though, you right.
🎵On the Seventh Day of SwitchUp the two lads gave to me: 10 Addictive Games, 12 Reviews of Switch Ports, 10 GAMES IN 2023!!!!!!,6 Physical Reviews, 10 Indie Winners, 10 Guilty Pleasures and 20 Essential Games for New Switch Gaming!! Thank you guys for making this video and your entire channel really. I cannot recommend you guys enough to any switch gamer. You're both amazing narrators and you have a lot of details in your videos that I can't get enough of. Happy Holidays to you, and everyone who watches!!
Bear and Breakfast was definitely my most addictive game for this year! It’s just so cute and fun and a great way to unwind. Thanks for the great video!
I've heard mixed things...but the switch centric community has been fair positive. Perhaps it was an issue of the game reaching the proper demographic...
Hmm maybe…it’s not a perfect game (some of their control choices are a bit weird), but the developers have done a good job continuing to update it I think. They really seem to care about it. I’m also a bit of a sucker for cute games. =) SwitchUp actually has a really great review for it on their channel too!
Hmmmm I guess mine would be Forager...I don't actually play it that often but once I turn it on... 3 hours will have passed with me wrapped around my controller, a dehydrated husk completely separated from the time-space continuum. Just lurching around the house yelling, "what year is it?!" (Jumanji style).
Factorio is worth every penny and the work. Great game to escape with as you listen to a audiobook. It has a bit of a learning curve, worth it in the end. All of the buttons can be remapped, what also wasn’t mentioned is the fact the game takes advantage of the touch screen. That makes the game a lot more fun in my opinion. Thanks guys for the list of my games I plan to add to my collection. Also for the ad for a game I did want a physical copy for the collection. To fellow players wishing you all a happy and good new year!
Not a new game, but crypt of the necrodancer is very addictive. It's one of those roguelikes with a learning curve that starts off impossibly steep but becomes very rewarding as you learn all the quirks and mechanics of the game!
Jumping on this bandwagon, the Switch exclusive Cadence of Hyrule is even more addictive if you have any fond memories of 2D Zelda! The artstyle is just *chef's kiss* mwah! The Zelda music also properly tickles the old eardrums too!
Loop Hero. The aesthetic immediately grabbed my attention. The game made me feel a bit like Darkest Dungeon. It’s a different game for sure, but it is a very fresh take within the genre. It mixes deck building mechanics (not exactly a deck building game tho) strategy and micro management. The “exploration” is quite unique: as you build the map itself each loop, you discover new enemies and locations by combining cards when you place them - it is a cool system. My only issue with the game is that I don’t understand the logic behind the cards that drop into your hand. Seems totally random to me but could also be that I’m doing something wrong /missing something and I kinda like that feeling. Still haven’t finished it but honestly I have a blast just looping and looping until I die or decide I have enough loot to go back to camp and expand the village. Very cool to play on hand held as it has touch screen and the controls are smooth. While it’s not on my all time fave games list, it is definitely in a special place.
I’m planning on downloading Bear and Breakfast for my wife Christmas Eve. She has loved Animal Crossing and Cozy Grove, so I’m sure she’ll love this one too.
'Just one more day' 'I just want to make sure all the parsnips grew well' 'I think the chicken is juuuust about to hatch' 'Oh, it turns out it's a lucky day today!' Stardew Valley, or most farming sims, really know how to keep one playing 😂
Sifu is my next pick up for sure. Looks right up my street. I bought Eldest Souls and Cuphead at the same time along with Valfaris. It was a very dark couple of months on my Switch but I did get them all in a sale. I think Dead Cells is my most addictive game. Purely because of the humour and great dlc. I can’t wait for the Castlevania mash up! Curse Of The Dead Gods, Children Of Morta also Darkest Dungeon. I was fairly hooked on all of them too.
Nobody talks about Deadcells anymore. I see it on no lists. And I say that game transcends beyond just the time it came out. It should always be in the conversation. Not "hades", the poor man's Deadcells. 😒 Deadcells is almost tied for the most played game on my switch. Under Slay The Spire.
Me too, I’m just waiting for another sale….which hopefully doesn’t come *too* soon 😂! (I bought too many games recently and can’t spend any more $.) If it drops to $10 or so I won’t be able to resist 😅
The concept and combat of Sifu has fascinated me since it was first announced. Now that it's finally on switch, this is going to be the one I check out over Christmas. Another addicting one for me was Hades, caught myself saying "one more run" far too many times 😂😂
Hades is the most addictive thing ever. The fact that the story beats and narrative only progress after a death was a stroke of absolute genius on the part of Super Giant.
I think mario Odyssey should be on this list too, i just cant help myself- so i play again... And again... And again.... Anyway, great video as usual! Maybe i will buy one of this games
I know it needs some patched up work but I’m 100% addicted to Pokémon Scarlet shiny hunting. Probably have a little over 70 so far. Just something about that little adrenaline rush of finding one haha.
I know my life is going to be consumed by Rogue Legacy 2 when I eventually pick it up. Like Glen said about Loop Hero, there is something so appealing about gradually building up a town or settlement during different runs. Combined with the gameplay I know I will get completely addicted to RL2.
On the seventh day of SwitchUp, Mark and Glen did give to me, seven flaming skulls, six portal puzzles, fiiiiiive biiiiig buuuuuugs, four random battles, three fists of fur(r)y 😜, two thriller games, and the best platformers in 2D!
My most addictive games this year were definetly persona 5 royal and Monster Hunter sunbreak, they had me hooked for months because they both just have such a perfectly refined gameplay loop 🤩
@@SwitchUpYt 1st time i shaved my head i felt sooo liberated (also lots of blood because i nicked my scalp a few times 😅)! Smooth and cool! Sleep easier too! 😆
Bear n Breakfast and factorio is my cup of tea, they look just simply lovely the graphics and stuff look so nice I must get them when we get a switch Thanks so much for this video Mark and Glen/SwitchUp!!!!!
Sifu looks addicted just from watching the gameplay. I love the concept! I grew up watching Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li and all of those guys; this is a must have or me! Thanks again switchup!
Around the time I realized I'd poured a thousand hours into Animal Crossing New Horizons I decided I had to put it down, but I can't seem to do the same with Grindstone hahah...still hideously addicted to Grindstone!
One of the best things about Rogue Legacy 2 is that if you love the game play loop it can keep going and going even past all the story content. I am on new game + 26 and the enemies keep on getting tougher and I am still seeing new rooms and really different overall zone layouts sometimes.
I have been addicted to Cult of the Lamb this year - the combination of building up a cult (a la Theme Park) and the quest combat really struck a chord with me, and was addicted to the balance of going on quests and keeping my cult members happy & fed. The wacky/creepy characters and the music and art style are awesome too.
It's interesting to see, that you have basically no blockbuster tripple A title in this list, but rather small indie games. Guess my title of the year has been the GTA trilogy, from when it was playable. There was lots of nostalgia in there, knowing vice city only from occasional visits at friends, III not at all, and SA never managed to get further than the harbour crate mission. Now my life is truly complete!
Love coming home from work on the 12 Days of Switch Up. I wish these videos came all year but I know you guys are doing a lot of content already and I see it's growing the channel a lot. Looking back over the last few years since I subscribed the channel has changed quite a bit in small details for the better but much of the same reasons I started watching are still here. It doesn't feel like I have been watching since like...2018 or something now? But it was just a "random Switch" channel when I found it and I was madly searching for dedicated Switch channels with information. Your channel and a few others came up (who shall remain nameless, some alright, some clickbait trash) but Switch Up has just the information I want, entertaining and informative commentary, lots of coverage, and I've grown fond of hearing your banter together over the years. I think there is a value in understanding what reviewers like yourselves like (like gyro controls!) and that helps better understand the perspective they are coming from and how it relates to my own so I can parse through how I might think of it myself and decide if I want to pick it up. I have used SwitchUp for discounts on the site and I'm trying to keep using it because that 10% off is the best kept secret for anyone who isn't using it they are really missing out. And yes this sounds like a kiss-butt comment, that's because it is but it's genuine. Thank you guys for your work and these special 12 days. I hope to look back on this time in life some day and be able to remember the "good old days" of the Nintendo Switch at it's height and all the games we were playing and what we found acceptable on hardware that's been outdated since launch but somehow continues to have a lot of magic left in it thanks largely to creative, dedicated, and immensely skilled developers on indies and big AAA games. Having a review channel to hear about tons of games in a quick few videos but playing the games I'm interested in is a valuable service you guys provide to me so thank you all at the SwitchUp team. Cheers! SeeYahh!
Addictive games are the last thing I need!Haha. I am a fan of football so my most addictive game has to be football manager, alongside dead cells which is phenomenal! Can't forget scourge bringer, brilliant! Also nice video as always!
@@2crack_17 it is super super addictive. I can spend 4 hrs without even noticing. It's especially fun when you rise to glory with some random Sunday league team, to Premier League.
No need for self-deprecating jokes, Mark. You look proper badass with the shaved head. The noggin' looks great. Keep on keeping on. Thanks for this series of videos, guys
Hey guys hope your holidays r going well , I love watching these types of videos otherwise I wouldn't have heard of Factorio, exactly my type z I hope to play it one day !! Cya on the next one !!!
I know I've seen a lot of your videos when I absent-mindedly mouth the part in the intro where you say "Let's find out". Love the videos guys, keep at it.
Loop hero is a really nice game. I love those seemingly simplistic addictive games with a lot of depth. Rocket league and borderlands 2 are two other games I play a lot.
Thanks for the latest video. A game that has me coming back and is great if you’ve only got time for a quick 15 to 30 minutes is Circus Electrique. A nice little turn based game with a steam punk aesthetic.
Addictive always sounds so much better than addicting. Certainly some excellent time sinks there. Loving all the ZX Spectrum references in is 12 days of Switch up!
Would have never found loop hero or Factorio without this channel, always keep an eye out for little gems. I’d seen these on early vids but point still stands. Cracking effort lads
I've been watching since I got my switch a couple of years ago and even when I have major breaks from playing games, I still watch all of your videos. Just wanted to say what awesome work you do, especially with this series at Christmas. Love the effort and tone of the videos! Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Factorio is a fantastic game! so addictive! OMG! I think its up there with other games like City Skyline, Simcity, Civilization, etc.. I do find it a very challenging game tho... you have to learn a lot, the game doesn't really help/explain much and you have to test million different automatization methods and find what's better for you and your way of playing. But you better get good if you want your factory to be super efficient, organized and actually looking pretty and not just "spaghetti factory" as they they call it. I guess what I like the most in this game is that it forces you to be creative and smart about it.. It's like a constant puzzle solving situation. And when you get things right it is very rewarding. I have spent countless hours on PC already. I did get the demo version on Switch and I did find it pretty good. Controllers are a little weird at first but trust me, after a little while you get very used to it. As soon as it is on a sale again (just missed it) I will totally get it!
Want to thank Mark and Glen for reigniting my love for gaming and Nintendo!! I am 34 from London, and with all things ‘life’, I haven’t been able to enjoy gaming until I found Switch Up!! Thank you both!! 🙏
Bear and Breakfast. Thank you for bringing this one up again. I forgot to add to my e-shop list for later purchase. Last week til Xmas! Hope you all have an amazing holiday.
I found myself getting quite addicted to the gameplay loop in Cult of the Lamb this year. Production line is similar to Factorio but nowhere near as polished. It wasn't Team 17 so probably not the one you were thinking about! Another great video gents, looking forward to the next one.
Thanks guys! My most addictive video this year has been... A 2018 game i.e. Hollow Knight 😅 and I've still haven't finished it after purchasing it shortly after my Switch in Nov 2019 (shame). Bear & Breakfast does call my attention, so i may give it a go. Again, loving this. First time watching these 12 Days videos. Happy gaming!
Loving these vids guys! Look forward to them each day!! Keep up the great work. My most addictive games were Ooblets and Pokemon Scarlet this year! Spent so much time in these games and love them both so much.
Loads of games on this list I've not tried, and will add them to my wishlist, thanks very much! I've been enjoying Guardian Tales, which is a free-to-play game with a fun progression loop, and a sense of humour....not bad, really. Keep up the fun videos, cheers!
My most addictive games this year were Bear and Breakfast and Hades. Both that had "I'll spend just one more small chunk of time here" feeling where those time chunks end up becoming many hours. 🤣
Retro arcade Paradise...I think. I keep getting the name wrong. Love it. You have your own laundry mat and arcade, and you keep upgrading. I find it very addicting.
Definitely picking Bear and Breakfast for Christmas! Wanna also give a shout out to Cursed to Golf. It's been an addictive game for me, such an awesome pick up and play game!
You guys videos are so great. You've become one of my favorite channels on UA-cam. I always find new/cool games to play thanks to you guys. Merry early Christmas! :3
Longer games that I sunk a lot of time into this year were Pokémon Arceus, Witcher III and Nexomon extinction. But shorter and addictive were Two Crowns and Akane. Just grabbed xenocrisis and it already has a little bit of a hook into me!! I love when you guys do a video like this and go over games I haven’t ever heard of. My wallet doesn’t like you though!!

I remember playing flappy bird all day long, so I see myself getting addicted to Terror of the night
That was old school addiction now lmao
I think mario Odyssey should be on this list too, i just cant help myself- so i play again... And again... And again....
Anyway, great video as usual!
Maybe i will buy one of this games
Hey thanks mate - definitely could be on there. Mark
I know it needs some patched up work but I’m 100% addicted to Pokémon Scarlet shiny hunting. Probably have a little over 70 so far. Just something about that little adrenaline rush of finding one haha.
I know hahahah like I’m enjoying but I don’t know if I should’ve supported Pokémon company for allowing such a weak running game. Still lots of fun
I know my life is going to be consumed by Rogue Legacy 2 when I eventually pick it up. Like Glen said about Loop Hero, there is something so appealing about gradually building up a town or settlement during different runs. Combined with the gameplay I know I will get completely addicted to RL2.
On the seventh day of SwitchUp, Mark and Glen did give to me,
seven flaming skulls,
six portal puzzles,
fiiiiiive biiiiig buuuuuugs,
four random battles,
three fists of fur(r)y 😜,
two thriller games,
and the best platformers in 2D!
Meanwhile me, addicted to hades still
A man of culture I see! Mark
Day seven down! Another great one. Sifu is waiting in my switch for me to start it as we speak. Thanks guys seeeeeeyaaaaaa!
My most addictive games this year were definetly persona 5 royal and Monster Hunter sunbreak, they had me hooked for months because they both just have such a perfectly refined gameplay loop 🤩
I’ve been saying so many times today but I don’t care cause rise/sunbreak deserves so much love for what being so much fun!!
Just started Persona 5 Royal this morning before work. First persona game
Bear and Breakfast looks so cute!!
Mark is like me. My head is shaved too! Hair is overrated anyways! 🙂
hahah exactly - when I was younger I cared. Now its convenient haha. Mark
Loop Hero is also so addicting, its always just "another run" and then you realize you have been running in circles for hours
I love the art style as well. I love when games with darker themes have that dichotomy with a cute//pleasant look. It just hits right
It's interesting to see, that you have basically no blockbuster tripple A title in this list, but rather small indie games.
I think football manager gets slept on sometimes, it’s a really fun game even if you aren’t a huge fan of the sport
The fact bear and breakfast was as the cover, i click it to see the content. Nice video, wish you a merry Christmas.
Loop hero is a really nice game. I love those seemingly simplistic addictive games with a lot of depth.
Rocket league and borderlands 2 are two other games I play a lot.
Rocket League is always a fun one to pick up and play
Thanks for the latest video. A game that has me coming back and is great if you’ve only got time for a quick 15 to 30 minutes is Circus Electrique. A nice little turn based game with a steam punk aesthetic.
Addictive always sounds so much better than addicting. Certainly some excellent time sinks there. Loving all the ZX Spectrum references in is 12 days of Switch up!
I’m a Slay the Spire addict currently, a genre I never thought would capture my attention like it has!
Never heard about the genre roguelike deck buildier before Slay the Spire.
I now measure my life in time before this game and after.
Would have never found loop hero or Factorio without this channel, always keep an eye out for little gems. I’d seen these on early vids but point still stands. Cracking effort lads
The controls are what threw me off of Bear and Breakfast. I didn’t get that far into it. I need to bear through it and retry.
You've just got to grin and bear the controls I'm afraid. They can be a bit grizzly at times
Sifu looks so interesting. The concept and combat looks incredible. My wish list continues to grow. 😂
I can vouch for loop hero. Got it on sale, thought I wouldn't like it. Started playing and all of a sudden it was 3 in the morning. Great game
It's the lads! Have a great Christmas, this has been the only switch channel I've needed all year.
There's a whole new feel when you guys present together ^^
It's Loop Hero for me. I can get lost in that game for hours. So much depth and so incredibly fun
I just recently started watching you guys. Super helpful info on what new games to play.
Always enjoy the new content!
Cult of the Lambs and Retro Goal for me. No rights to be so addictive xD Incredible as always fellas, and the outtakes are just * Chefs Kiss*
Sifu is amazing. And really challenging. But I gotta say Donut Dodo is now on my radar.
"Cursed flappy bird" was exactly what I was thinking when you showed footage of that level 😂
My Christmas treat for me this year will be buying one game per day for 12 days that I pick from each of your videos !
So far so good,thanks ! 🎄🎅
If only I could🥺
Loving these vids guys! Look forward to them each day!! Keep up the great work. My most addictive games were Ooblets and Pokemon Scarlet this year! Spent so much time in these games and love them both so much.
I am still addicted to hades but I already bought the cuphead dlc
And look forward to playing it during the holidays.
I need to get back into Bear and Breakfast.
Rogue legacy, darkest dungeon and binding of isaac are sooooooooo addictive imo
Loads of games on this list I've not tried, and will add them to my wishlist, thanks very much! I've been enjoying Guardian Tales, which is a free-to-play game with a fun progression loop, and a sense of humour....not bad, really. Keep up the fun videos, cheers!
Thanks for the list! These videos help alot in choosing games. Happy Holidays!
My most addictive games this year were Bear and Breakfast and Hades. Both that had "I'll spend just one more small chunk of time here" feeling where those time chunks end up becoming many hours. 🤣
I read that as Breakfast and Hades at first.
Definitely want to try Loop Hero. I feel like I could lose hours to that one. Thanks again for all the amazing game suggestions. Awesome channel!
Looks complicated but unique compared to most games out nowadays
These videos are so great! I absolutely loved bear and breakfast it’s so adorable!
Retro arcade Paradise...I think. I keep getting the name wrong. Love it. You have your own laundry mat and arcade, and you keep upgrading. I find it very addicting.
Dope list. Haven’t watched you guys for a while. You’re getting better and better. Love this channel
Definitely picking Bear and Breakfast for Christmas! Wanna also give a shout out to Cursed to Golf. It's been an addictive game for me, such an awesome pick up and play game!
Yes! I look forward to each video drop now. I love the 12 days of switch up.
You guys videos are so great. You've become one of my favorite channels on UA-cam. I always find new/cool games to play thanks to you guys. Merry early Christmas! :3
First time i am hearing about airport hero 😳 def gonna try that one. What an awesome Serie so far 💪
Yea that one caught my eye too, looks pretty fun
Longer games that I sunk a lot of time into this year were Pokémon Arceus, Witcher III and Nexomon extinction. But shorter and addictive were Two Crowns and Akane. Just grabbed xenocrisis and it already has a little bit of a hook into me!! I love when you guys do a video like this and go over games I haven’t ever heard of. My wallet doesn’t like you though!!
Ok, fine, I give in, Sifu is officially on my backlog. I need about 5 years off work now to get through everything 😆 Loving these 12 days of Christmas videos. Looking forward to 12 days of Easter, Summer, and Hallowe'en 😜
Love your Channel! 2 years going. My favorite our your Sunday videos. The sale videos. Thank u
I never noticed that Cuphead DLC is called literally Cuphead "DLC"... Delicious Last Course... I must be the last person to realize lol 😁😁🌴🌴
