- Опубліковано 29 лис 2018
- Game of Thrones Season 8 is a long way off! But today we are going to discuss the possibility that the white walkers are back because the pact was broken! In this video I will analyze the Lore and Legend behind certain Northern customs that point to the White Walkers being apart of the pact! We have to go back to Craster's Keep and see why he was sacrificing his sons and Where did her learn that? And We will be analyzing what Old Nan has to say and Joshua and Elias from Memory, Sorrow and Thorn! We will look at all of the evidence of The White Walkers having a pact with the Starks and the Children of the Forest and Where everything went wrong! and Why the White Walkers and The Night King are back! Thanks for Watching!

Says I’m gonna make this short... still ends up being 18+ minutes🤦🏻♀️ lol Happy Friday Sweet Summer Fam! dying to know ur thoughts on this possibility!
You nailed it! Great juice!
GrayArea I am so excited to hear your thoughts on my comment!!! Oh, pretty please 🙏🏻 lol
U have a great weekend too!!😄
The more the merrier 💗
I think so
To defeat night king, who is way more powerfull than living thinks, one of the livings must become a night king, some needs to sacrifice for the life of living may be jon snow will sacrifice his life may be someone will stabbed the dragon glass in jon’s heart, so that he can defeat the night king
I like it. I have a feeling the reason Craster was so adamant that none of the nights watch went near his wives during their stay there was because he didn't want to hand over a baby boy mistakenly fathered by another man. That his blood line is important part of his pact with the baby sons he sacrifices.
@Todd Starbuck no that's unlikely
The part about the sheep got me rolling
LMAO
Dead
Nedyo Kamburov I cant help myself sometimes.
OMG you cracked the Craster code!
"....it had long been the custom in the
North for old men, younger sons, the unwed, the childless, the
homeless, and the hopeless to leave hearth and home when the first
snows fell, so that their kin might live to see another spring"- Fire and Blood, The Hour of the Wolf.
This is the sacrifice they made, men, young and old would walk into winter and the old gods would take them. I would say the first one to break this pact was Cregan Stark whose great host remained in the south and took wives from the reaches and Riverlands....
Golbon Mol very plausible but the term hour of the wolf is in reference to a great council gathering of quick the current head of house stark was asked to judicate on something (I forget what) but then left as he had no interest in all the bullshit of the south, so he left and returned to winterfell so a certain time of night was forever known as "the hour of the wolf".
.
. "I think lol
@@gavomorg2948 Yes his sudden interest in putting things to just after two years of ignoring the Dance of the Dragons, right when winter had arrived, was super sketchy. He did good deeds nonetheless, and strengthened the dynasty of Targaryens before leaving it in the hands of a Lannister...he just didn't lose his head, which makes him short of an utter parallel to his great grandchild honorable Ned!
I honestly thought that when they spoke of those men going to be taken by the "Old Gods" it was because the winter stores were running low so they went off to "hunt" never to return in hopes that more ppl may survive till spring and summer. Not as soon as the first snow fell. Which book is your quote from? Cause its possible that I missed that particular part. Please let me kno the book(s) and which chapter(s) that they talk bout this?
@@matthewbanks6707 I made the citation it's form Fire and Blood - of course GRRM has not made any clear indication that they went off to joing the WW team, but given the fact that the Others rule the real North, I do not see these men who left for austerity reasons end up any other way - if they fell out of hunger, a wildling attack or anything else, they will be risen as wights, if they went voluntarily, like Craster did to his sons, they would e turned. There really is little way around it - which is joining a wildling clan. Again, those clans are exposed to the Others much plus, some, like Craster (again and again) chose to remember the pact.
Omg, of all the GOT channels I've watched this one has made me laugh the most...in a good way. Great work!
I just realized that maybe Ned cleaning Ice in the godswood is giving the tree a little bit of the blood that was in the sword. I don't think that counts as a sacrifice and I don't know how much the North remembers about the old traditions but it may be something. Nice video💕
In show,NK grabs Brans arm like trying to force a pact handshake...the one similar to Dany and Yara's in Meereen, but Bran ain't having it,no way!He fudges, and told Bloodraven HE SAW ME. BR corrects him,HE TOUCHED YOU!!!That may have been enough for a pact between NK and now they're working together, whether Bran realizes it or not.
Little Sam is the Prince that was Promised (To the Night King)!!
Why?
this is the best stuff you have done!!
The prince that was promise is Dani and Jon’s child...the red witch told Danny that she might have a role to play and so might another (Jon) in finding that prince. Stark and Targaryen bloodline is what the ww wants.
White Wolf all of Crasters sons are promised to the night king.
"There must always be a Stark in Winterfell" Because perhaps if there isn't the NK Stark could rightly seize control? :O
this blew my minddd finally a theory i havent heard
lemon ste Thank you!
I'm a little over halfway through The Dragonbone Chair. It's getting better and better as it goes along. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Best theory ever Gray, I think you nailed it girl
If John snow or dani was the prince then they would be dead by now the knight king. He let them leave more then once. If any of them was the prince then the knight king would have seen them as threat and wouldn't play games at all. He knew dani was coming and he waited for dragons to be born so he can later on get one and then cross the wall. I saw you're video on bran and it made so much sense
Matthew StLaurent Thank you! I am convinced Bran is the most important player when it comes to the Night King
Bran is also the only one the Night King has actually tried to hurt or kill more than once. He grabbed him for the Old God's sake. Everywhere Bran is, the NK is sure to follow trying to get to him.
Well and it’s a dam show sooo, there’s also plot armor..
Matthew StLaurent exactly!!! He is letting them live because he knows that they will conceive the promised prince.
I just have to say how amazing you are at picking apart these books/tv show and coming up with all these amazing ideas. You go one way today and another way tomorrow. I commend you for paying such close attention to the books and the TV show. You do a wonderful job reviewing this show/books in every different direction Grey Area. Thank-you for helping us get through this long, long, long night.💕💕
This makes so much sense! Wonderful video.
Thank you!!! I am LOVING this series! I’m almost done with the last audiobook!!! Thank you, thank you thank you!!!
Gray, Just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do. Also, I personally really like the manner in which you speak. Waiting for your next one to get us through this Long Night..))
Wow this video right here is AMAZING. You really brought it this time! I listened to it the first time when you first created it but while I was cleaning. However this time I paid much more attention and I’m just so 🤯🤯🤯🤯right now! Good job! Excellent theory,I think you nailed it.
I love your reviews and your theories your brain is on fire I think you figured it out the reason for the night king returned. Keep it real I'll keep watching!
Girl, I am so glad you came around to this idea! I remember making a similar suggestion to either one of your videos or bridge4, or Joe Magician... point is, it is always a play on words of GRRM! Like with the phrase “if you stay too long where you don’t belong, you will get stuck,” which to a non-geek would have normal meaning, but to people like us, “conspiracy theorists” so to say, notice the hidden meaning-which is being stuck with dragon glass, because the children will stick it in your chest, basically. Well, in this case it is EXACTLY what I think is going on when we hear the phrase “the prince who was promised”. They promised him this prince, this baby, because their race would benefit from it in some weird way. I mean, he might want that baby for some ritual demanding kings, and the first men blood, or all of that blood mixture in that baby. We have seen all kinds of crazy sh&t in the series. Or he might in fact need that baby to make into his replacement and pass his knowledge on to him or her (actually makes me think of that story about an Ice Girl, so called daughter of the night’s king, that was always so cold and pale, and I didn’t catch who her mother was. Could this be the story ending? with the night’s king taking Dany and Jon’s baby with him, and then little Sam will grow up and go and try to save that baby from the night’s king? Oh man, that’s a cool thought...). Sorry for such a long comment. You got me going because I have thought about this for a while but you just laid it out so well 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
when l watcheg this video all l thought about is little sam and his importance for the NK
GIRL! You got me SHOOK with THIS one! 👍🏻👍🏽👍🏼👍🏿
As always fabulous video! I think there is something to this! Can’t wait to hear more on this theory! Thanks Gray!
The only plausible motivation for the Night king I've heard so far.
Yes I was waiting for u. I love this channel
Einstein 4203 Thank you!
I really appreciate the amount of effort and analysis that goes into your videos. You make it seem so casual and effortless! Brilliant, informative, and entertaining. And i love the little touches, like Arya saying "seven hells!". Made me literally lol
I love your video! You voice has such energy!
Thank you for your videos they have helped me in a dark time.
Oh yay, New Lady Gray! Thanks for making my Friday that much better! I needed some juice.
That's very possible. My current thinking is that the sacrifice we see in the show is Bran the Builder, who was the last hero, and that was the "help" that the Children gave him. Since he was a warg, they turned him into a being who could control all of the out-of-control bio-hazard white walkers that they had originally unleashed. The deal was, Bran would take them far north, raise the wall, and keep them there as long as his house remained in control of the North, and the Children stop fighting. He's coming down now because of the final clause: he was promised release in the form of a prince who would be able to kill him, and replace him.
Or something like that.
Love that theory wow great stuff
Oooooooooh, that's good. I could see that happening.
I like it!
I had a theory that there always needed to be a "great other" or a "night king" to keep the neverborn (white walkers) and undead under control and your theory that the pact was the sacrifice of the original hero Azor Ahai aka Bran the Builder is definitely one I would stand behind. He's become corrupt after years of ice magic and only the prince who was promised can take his place and offer his final release, in death. Valar Morghulis - all men must die. But he cannot die until another takes his place.
Think Diablo, Wrath of the Lich King, Dead Mans Chest....definitely I see it coming down to either Jon, Bran or potentially Danys unborn child.
Man, I had to search you videos to find your Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn recommendation. I just finished reading A Song of Ice and Fire books for the 4th time and want something new. I hope I like them. I like your videos, so I think I'll will. Thanks
Great video! Very good theories
I have to say, it's a really hard to understand theory and it all mixes up really well (clues and support). Glad you took the time to explain and make it clear, well done Gray!
To be HONEST I was starting to loose hope with the other recent vids Gray, but this reminded me of why I watch your vids, absolutely 100% fire. If GRRM didn't plan the story like this then he should take your theory & make you a co-writer. Am satisfied with this theory as what happened in the beginning. Absolute fire Gray, you have the gold medal for these vids for the year 2018.
U go GrayArea, making lots of sense.
You really outdid yourself this time GreyArea!! You have so many detailed observations and I think your theory is very sound.
Best person making game of thrones vids
Thanks for another theory video I’m so loving this........☘️☁️
second time watching this video. very well thought out and to the point / not accusatory or prediction. Just a smart way of connecting the dots. great video.
I think you're probably onto something here. After all the starks are meant to be very honourable and oath keeping so to forget and break such a major oath seems like something extremely ironic (I think that's the right word)
You make a compelling case, it has actually given me a few ideas about some things that will take a long time to figure out if I even manage to before the answers are given.
your video-editing is so sharp recently, noticeably better than before (not criticising before, just noticeable) that bit with the wiggling night king + baa was insanely funny and so quick!
I loooooooove your content. Please do an audio book for us. That voice is very comforting, in a non creepy way.
Gray, this is random but I want to congratulate you on your success. I literally remember you back in 2016! (EDIT early 2017!) You had like a few hundred or so subs and I stumbled upon you while in college by looking up GOT thories after watching Fire and blood's (then son's of the harpy I think?) and talking thrones channel and I was like OMG WHO IS THIS WOMAN WITH THE BEAUTIFUL VOICE!? I think I even asked if you were African American or something but I remember you saying that you wasn't but that may not have been asked by me but either way I was certain you were until you verified lol! Now, bacically 100k subs, it's crazy how I seen you come up from out of the blue doing vids consistently is a great commitment and give you my props for your hard work and for many blessings to come!
Daron Gates thank you very much! ❤️ this means a lot!
SOOO JUICY!!! I loved this video 😍😍😍
It made so much sense.
I don't normally comment on videos but I think you have put it all together on this one💪💪
also Gray beautiful job as always
Hell yeah, gray! Yer killin’ it, I think you got it! This makes 122% total sense! With no wasted space!
This was a great and plausible theory
Thank you for telling us about MST! Just finished the first 3 books. They are wonderful.
Gray this is the craziest theory I've heard to date but I love it! And I believe your almost right on. I haven't heard or seen this theory from anyone. I knew there was something more to "there must always be a stark in winter fell" than they we're letting on. But nice one, my favorite to date!!
Does that make craster a stark??
"what are they gonna do with some sheep? Baaaaaaaa".. You got my like for that alone. Lol. Good videos. Keep it up.
This one really is convincing!👏🏾✨
Dope Theory
Sweet Summer Juice!
Gray, this video puts a lot of things together for me. It makes so much sense.
I can’t for the life of me think of way Jon or Dany being the PTWP would benefit anyone in the long run except saving
Westeros, Essos but can’t Bran do that like you said in your video. Anyway great video.🙂
Great theory!
Bravo 👏 always amazing content.
JUICY FRIDAY
My complete conception about the starks has changed after this😳😳😳
Mind blowed💣 great video.
Also... "Under the ground, beneath the Frostfangs" = VISERION 🔥 -He def meets the "technicality" of that statement! 💙
Very interesting theory on the PTWP
Great video as usual! Good points made about the prince that was promised and maybe the Night King is the bastard that was given to sacrifice by White Walkers but he is a greenseer which no one foresaw happening .....makes a plausible case for that
Might explain why NK was able to grab Bran's arm during his 'vision'.
Thank you for saying that. I have been wondering the same thing
When trying to come up with what I think might happen I think to myself, what would be the saddest thing ever? What if the prince that was promised, to the white walkers, is going to wind up being the son of Jon and Dani? Is there a sacrifice worse for Jon and Dani to make? It makes sense to me when thinking about it. For the last couple of seasons I theorized that Jon would have to sacrifice himself that he was the prince that the white walkers were looking for. We all know Jon would be more than willing to do that, so that is too easy. But if John is the rightful heir to the throne and the king of Westeros, then his firstborn son would be the prince. Maybe Tyrion knows more than he’s letting on and realized that when Dani and Jon were knocking boots that this was going to spell doom, hence why he looked so disturbed. This theory sets the stage for an epic battle between the white walkers and the Kingdom of Westeros.
As I was reading, I knew what I would read at the end... 😱
I think this makes a lot of sense!
Aemon told Jon that he would have to make a tough decision.....Honor or Love!!
@@elizabethavilela Thanks!
That’s deep right there, that’s the bittersweet ending...
Omg I never thought of that. Feeling sick
i noticed this time how clever the Tyrion actor is, he made his non-existent fantasy accent sound posh by pronouncing over-carefully and adding aspiration to the start of consonants
Someone else said, I don’t remember who, that the “Promised” could be a marriage pact and promise.
The only issue I have, is that the “prince that was promised” comes to us by way of the Targaryens. And they see this prince as a specific person, yet to come. That and the North does seem to remember the Pact.
I am with you on the timeline being wrong. GRRM has said that the history is “fake”. Sam also discovers the issues with the timeline, and it was important enough to tell readers in two books.
Out of all of the channels I watch, your videos are my favorite #freeghost
This got me through the long night
You are probably right Gray ,I was thinking about that pregnant women with the revenge request, but thinking it was old Nan
🎶🎵Give me some cold looooove, Somebody rocking knocking ice boots 🎶🎵
I find this theory very intriguing and highly probable
I think the “Prince that was Promised” was Promised to the Night King as part of this pact we hear keep hearing so much about.
A very insightful video of possibilities that have not been focused on before. Enjoyed the video. I think we need to put the timeline together. Andals invasion and the Valerians rise. Then place each significant event from Bran's visions of the pregnant woman, the 13th Lord Commander, the Long Knight, bronze and silver, and the pact agreement of ice and fire. Ice is a name for the ancestral sword ice. Not sure why Bran says no so sadly of the sacrifice in his vision at the heart tree when the woman emerges.
nice video!
Yes grey! I’ve been saying “there must always be a Stark in Winterfell” is part of the pact.Maybe it is something todo with the castle as it has magic built in to it.
Huge fan of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. I met Tad and Debs a while ago (even went for something to eat with them) genuinely nice folk and interested in what the fans have to say about the storylines. Thank God that Tad writes quicker than George!
That Night King - sheep bit was FUNNY
Mike M 😂😂 sometimes I can’t help myself
Best Opinion I've Heard M'Lady Gray. You are linked, You remember. ✊🏻💚
awesome !!!!!
0:59 That needs to be my phone alert when my sister sends a text
LOL!!! @ that sheep cut of NK!
Bran's visions in ADWD is easily one of the most important chapters in the history & lore of ASOIAF. And those last two visions must have greater meaning. I like where you are going. Perhaps do a livestream on Bran's visions.
Very very interesting Theory but my theory is separating the book from the show is that the Night's King is either the 13th Lord commander who they thought they killed but didn't or is the descendant of the 13th Lord Commander he did give his seed when he lost his soul
I always thought the prince who was promised was the child of Dany and John who will need to be sacrificed.
Omg, how did I miss the notification? I must've been peeing.
You had me @ Prince Yashuah I mean Joshua.
Gray Area , great vid as usual. I always equated the Old Gods to some type of magical nature entity & worship with the CotF and the Three-Eyed Raven having access and some type of communion with via the Weirwoods. The TER , could be some further up part of that , perhaps the role dates back to the Long Night or before and it is occupied by stewards such as Bloodraven and Bran. Perhaps the Old Gods whatever they are forced this TER role after the creation of the Others as some type of opposition and as a foil to the Others. Melisandre thinking they are all on the same side the CotF , TER and the Others - I don’t give much thought as she is routinely wrong , not surprising with the description in the books of how abstract her visions are.
With the Starks , I do think you are on to something Gray , I think the earliest Starks have hidden major skeletons and secrets likely of a very sinister nature. And were likely much more cruel than their future generations. Definitely think there is some selective omission and tales wiped from the histories regarding the Starks. Of the same ilk as the Bael the Bard but likely much darker and even more surprising than that.
The pact part that confuses me , it seems the Starks if they were ever sacrificing to the Others had long since abandoned the practice as it seems to have been completely forgotten so why has it taken until now for the NK / WW to be back in action, if the pact had been long since broken. Unless it’s a different pact or there more elements going on within it. Either way if the show creation scene becomes book canon with the NK candidate being bound and gagged he is clearly not a willing participant there and must be incredibly pissed off and seeking revenge.
You are so articulate and insightful. You should teach a college level course on analyses and theories of GOT. You would pack the classroom.
This sounds like a very intriguing theory, and entirely possible.
Awesome
I just had a crazy thought. What if the only way to stop the Night King is John and Dany having no choice but to sacrifice their child to him. They discover the only way to keep him north is by sacrificing baby boys to him. Craster had been holding down the fort but now that he is dead winter is coming.
Maybe Bran is the PWWP because he is the next Stark with Greensight and therefore he is the one that is promised to the NK. That or Jon, because I think you’re right about what the saying actually means. I think it’s “promised”, as in belonging to someone. The only part that leaves me confused is that in the books, I think Jon and Arya both have green sight, as well as Bran?
Khalessi TargStark thank you for clarifying that for me. I knew something was off, because it would have been mentioned by someone by now lol. Thanks again!
Hmm 🤔 more that meets the eye with this one
Good video lot to think 💭 about also I think this is one of the most mysterious puzzle 🧩 to put in place
night king daenerys jon snow The prince or Princess who was promised
every think is a lie
I think there is so much more that the night king wants like what you say grayarea magical abilities from bran our very important What will happen in the future of the story
looking at it lyanna Could be the Great great granddaughter her child The prince who was promise
Damn Gray! I think you nailed it. Then who gets sacrificed this time to stop the Night King? 🤔🤔🤔
Why is everyone treating "the north remembers" as if it was a database? remebering all, is the role of the citadel. "North remembers" is always used in reference to their southern enemies, slight the north and it will not be forgotten
Also they remember their loyalty to the stocks. Maybe they don't remember exactly why but they remember that they always have to have a stark in the North. Remember what young lady mormont said?
Yo I'm going to do backflips if this ends up being canon. I LOVE this theory. Knowing there's no wasted space in ASOIAF, that would finaly tie in Bran's vision of the pregnant lady. 🤙
The night is long, but we have juice 🥂
Yes id totally accept this theory
