    awesome!!! Thank you so much. :) Your u-tube channel really has been so helpful.
    I am getting closer and closer to the point where I might be able to move out. Although I see myself needing a bit more assistance.

    Nice video Kristen. That cord on the wall is a great thing for you to have. I believe in having an emergency plan in place. I have a cell phone in case my car breaks down and also a survival pack in my car with things in it that can be useful to me if I were in a survival situation and could not get help.

      a survival pack for your car is a good idea. I have one with like jumper cables and those kinds of things. I was thinking about your friend. I wonder if his horn worked on his vehicle that he could've blown to get some help. Any idea?

    I recently fell out of my wheelchair at my brother's house while I was there over the Thanksgiving holiday. I couldn't get up by myself. Luckily, I was not alone. I wound up in the hospital for four days, then I was in rehab for two months, for therapy for a sprained right hand. I have never, fell out of my wheelchair living alone, as of yet. My sis and brother--in-law live about 10 minutes away, but it does make me think, now that I've had this accident, back in November, for which I'm still recuperating from. My right hand is still sort of out of service, as I have a sort of a splint-glove type thing on it, and I also have to wear another type brace at night to straighten out my fingers. I am right-handed. Which, that in of itself, has left me with a whole set of problems. I was told by my therapist that my hand may take up to a year to heal, as I have no feeling from my middle of my hand up to my fingers. This has been difficult for me, to say the least, but I am managing. I was told that I may get my nerve sensation back in 3 to 6 months...or never. I am doing my exercises that were taught to me at the rehab center.

      Praying you are healed soon! That has got to be difficult! Especially it being your writing hand!

    We have an emergency exit plan in case of a fire and I'm thinking about contacting our local police to see of they are educated about people who have autism and related disabilities. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

    I fall every once in awhile and alot of the time i end up going to emergency because of the fall. Fortunately my son has always been there to help me get back in my chair clean up the blood and come to emergency with me. But he moved out almost a year ago out of province for work and so being alone is kinda scary. Ive fallen twice since he moved but was not injured and i just try and do things alittle more slowly. One option that the wound care nurses have suggested is to get life alert i think its called where if i fall i push a button and the paramedics show up to help me but im not sure how comfortable i am with that idea.

      Yes great idea! Its like what I have on the wall but in a button you wear or ca% ry with you. If you are prone to falling I highly recommend

      Living Able when I first moved out on my own over 20 years ago the place I lived was a transitional place and I loved there they had those pull cord things in the bathroom and bedroom and although I don't need attendant care i had the comfort of knowing an attendant would come running if I pulled the cord. sadly the place I live now doesn't have that but I have some neighbors that are mobile enough that if I needed help would be able to and some friends that live close by that offered to help me if I fell.

    That's a cool feature in the apartment. Is that some kind of new feature required for apartments?

    • @LivingAble
      @LivingAble  7 років тому

      No. It's probably just in income based, assisted or independent living houses like I live in. You can get something like this but you'd have to pay for the service.

    I was wondering if there are any breakdown services for motorists in the USA? Here in the UK there are at least three.

    • @LivingAble
      @LivingAble  7 років тому

      There are services that help with like towing, flat tire repair, dead battery etc yes

    I'm subscribed to our local 'red button' service. I've only used it twice in the 27 years that it's been installed.

      I hope you will reread that post where you said you were no longer going to post on this page. I am in tears since it was so misunderstood. I don't understand how people didn't get that I was teasing my other admin and also trying to give insight to what I go through from a lot of males that PRIVATE message the page. Has nothing to do with those that regularly comment good things. I had thought we were building a friendship and pretty shaken up I am being misunderstood and able to be thrown away that easily. Have a good one if you wish to longer speak to me.

      I apologise. I'm far too impulsive and impetuous. Not a trait I'm proud of, I have to say. I'll be delighted if we can form a good friendship. Sorry to make you cry.

      :) and a trait of mine that I hate is that I am not good with the written word and my actual intentions/meaning don't come across very easy. I am very short and too the point and that doesn't come across well in typing lol. It's all good. We worked through it. Very grateful you read my response instead of blocking me at least.
