You know, it's currently in development. Just because it's like that now, doesn't mean it's gonna stay that way. Quiet the opposite actually. They're improving immersion as development goes on
yeah but even in development, especially of a scify game like this, you have to look first at physics!! it looks great and everything but this is just second-rate for me. I mean, if they want to adjust this mistake they have to make a completely new ship, thats pretty fatal. If they built every ship like that the game will have serious troubles in beta. Another solution would be that ships as big as that one arent able to land on planets (as it would be in real life). maximum some small cargos or fighters. Ships as big as this one would need drones to get to planets since these ships should be build on spacestations and are made for zero gravity anyway (no wings and aerodynamics)
There ar eusually small manuvering thrusters on alll ships in Star Citizen, if its realistic, maybe not but its the future so you never know if they managed to make them powerful enough
People are not use to waiting this long for a game due to publishers rushing shit out, if you want something of this scope, its going to take a hell of a lot longer in Development than the shit they are pushing out these days. It will be worth the wait, they haven't come as far as they have developing their own tech to fuck it off.
For the problem at the end I have the solution, as it also happened to me. You pressed the Stealth Button on the left Display and this will turn down the energy produced to a level, others can hardly detect or get a lock on you. But this also provides not enough trust for atmospheric flight. To Solve: Go into the Energy Tab in one Display and move the slider at the top fully to the right. This controls the amount of energy generated. Then you engines will get as much as they need.
I know Star Citizen isn't complete yet but right now the game just feels like a beautiful painting. There's not else to do than appreciate the beautiful scenery and pilot your ship.
I have this ship as a loaner while they build my Carrack, and I do like it as I like all Drake ships. My only problem with this one is that I can't for the life of me learn my way in its interior. So simple ship in the outside, so maze in the inside...
I can’t wait for the people that bitch and moan about this game to eat their words. You do realize this is the biggest video game project ever conceived? Yet they act as if only few years is what it takes to make a game like this. Patience.
I think no ship has landing suspension yet but it's something we all want cause landings are something satisfying but we need to not feel like we drop it onto the ground
wonder if you can orbit a planet or moon with you ship that would be awsome and another cool mechanic would be if we see and hear breaking the sound barrier in atmospheric flight.
Unless its an un-tweaked physics thing... I can see that entering atmo "looks" slow, but you are actually coming in really fast. So I guess I will have to a be patient and go through the "Orbital Step-down" procedures correctly or I will slam my shinny Mustang into a rock... lol
Sheesh! Why can't they accelerate and decelerate mouse/re-orientation movements? It would make things much smoother, less jerky, and just overall more pleasant and realistic to watch or experience--less toy-like--especially when viewing and changing orientations outside of a ship. A relatively simple change that will make A WORLD of difference.
damn those trails... it's ok to see trails of ships going with quantum drive, but not this. what's more, enginea are working, but ship is not accelerating at all.
so what's holding the ship upright in the planet thought? in space it kinda just floats but when entering a planet it should collapse since it's too heavy and that single wing isnt good enough to keep it in air.
What was up with the rapid refreshing the mobi glass at around 6:30? Some kind of exploit or were you measuring something I wasn't paying attention to?
How did you manage to get the Fps higher than 32, i have the same setup as you but i dont get fps over 32, is there a stupid cap, if so how can i fix it?
Does it really take that long to reach a destination? You're just sitting behind your computer staring at a screen... There's more fun things to do in life I hope?
Then why do you leave comments on UA-cam, watch TV or movies, or read books or do anything which isn't an actual physically-demanding activity? You're forgetting something important; the mind. The imagination. Immersion. Escape. Learning new systems. Exploring something with friends and allies. Fueling creativity, and the sheer pleasure one gets from the suspension of disbelief with landing on another moon in a spaceship they own and control.
Seriously, I really feel like they need to add some kind of a warp thruster to be able to enter planets faster. This is a really cool game, but some of us truly believe it should still be fun, and not everyone wants to wait for 10 or 15 gdamn minutes every time they want to enter a planet. I like everything else, but come on, guys... not every one of you are gonna say I'm wrong here... why? Because ITS FUCKING BORING after a while. Honestly Chris Roberts... come on man. You got the simulation thing down obviously. But you also GOTTA MAKE IT FUN! WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE, sometimes some of you people act like you've almost forgotten... ITS STILL A VIDEOGAME AFTER ALL MAKE IT FUN Those of you that want to watch paint peel for 25 minutes every damn time you want to travel to a new planet can still do that if you want BUT AT LEAST GIVE THE REST OF US WITH SOME SEMBLANCE OF A LIFE THE OPTION, JESUS
Playing this game is literally converting real money into space ships , then showing off the space ships instead of showing off other things you can buy with real money.
To be fair, Vortex, I think we are past that point. I appreciate that it is to fund the game but "gift" is a bit much. That said, I personally don't really feel that bad about having a cheaper ship. I hope the ingame progression is balanced though when it comes time for release(?) I feel much more positive about the money system in this than say, the topical SWBF2. Buying interesting varied content in an RPG setting is a lot different to buying slots at the kids casino to win "mine is better than yours" cards in an essentially deathmatch game.
I don't know, "interesting varied content" becomes less interesting when it's bought with real money. Isn't part of the interaction in rpgs emerging from the progression curve that new players have to undertake in order to attribute value to in-game currencies, items and other ownable objects? With real money the progression curve is nonexistant. Sure there is progression,, but the curve has nothing to do with said player's game knowledge, strategies, creativity or even *time spent* in the game, making for a very irrelevant means to put effort into the game in return. I wouldn't even call Star Citizen a game, just a "Shady Environment" lol.

What a poorly optimised waste of money this whole project is. People keep trying to defend it saying it’s only the beta e.t.c and any other excuse. Pop in scenery, utter shit frame rate, ships wobbling all over the place. Look how long and how much money they have. Why can’t they make one bit work properly before moving onto the next.
Nobody is saying that its 'only in beta' because its not in beta. Complaining about alpha tech not being optimized is retarded. "Why can’t they make one bit work properly before moving onto the next". Adding new things breaks old things. the game isnt out yet - means its not done. stuff that isn't finished ISN'T FINISHED. your complaints would be valid against a finished product, which this is not. This is the Dumbest Comment I've encountered in a while.
Star Citizen ALPHA 3 is all the foundational tech needed to get the game working properly and framerate is garbage because of the network code which all of it still isnt fully implemented yet to cull data from other players. you dont fully optimise an alpha thats a massive waste of resources as even a week later when there adding more code it would break it all.
Right because when games are made, they make it perfect with no faults the very first time... Its in aplha btw (not beta) the whole point of it is to find the bugs and fix them. Clearly u knw nothing about how games (or anything computer based programs) are developed
Steven James if you hate alpha games, you should leave and if you can't stand CIG's way of doing things, just stay the hell away. Your neighbor can't stand you as well, they just didn't yell as much as you do.
Everything that's happening in the game feels like a miracle
cuz they go full length and sell it to as such
So clean, so frame perfect. I never thought a few years back this is what we would end up withe. This game will be something else!
Grimfanden p
...in 2050
I don't see any vertical thrust engines, but the ship doesn't fall to the surface immediately. Magic!
alpha but i agree wtf!!
Feel the same!
And the landing gear was not reacting to landing forces, no dust and dirt when impact.
Room to improve haha
You know, it's currently in development. Just because it's like that now, doesn't mean it's gonna stay that way. Quiet the opposite actually. They're improving immersion as development goes on

Whoever is making the music for this game is doing a stellar job
It's like a horror movie where the ship won't let you leave
There is always the danger of demons when travelling through the warp. When will people get it ?
and here I thought pirates were my only concern
Its still early alpha but once and if they manage to make this a complete and polished game, it is going to blow everything else away.
Agreed, can't believe this game has so many haters for what they are aiming for.
People are not use to waiting this long for a game due to publishers rushing shit out, if you want something of this scope, its going to take a hell of a lot longer in Development than the shit they are pushing out these days. Watching 4 years later, I'm proud that we all had hooe in this game even at this stage, look at it now!
finally, someone actually knows how to fly a ship in 3 oh!
I not so secretly love the big red "STOP" button. Huzzah for drake design! Good job!
Drake design is basically russian, cheap, functional and good use for pirates
beautiful landing! most videos I see of others they just dive bomb the surface and explode lol.
I know Star Citizen isn't complete yet but right now the game just feels like a beautiful painting. There's not else to do than appreciate the beautiful scenery and pilot your ship.
Thank god!!! I have been waiting forever for this update!!!
LMAO, Caterpillar was just straight trollin you.
I have this ship as a loaner while they build my Carrack, and I do like it as I like all Drake ships.
My only problem with this one is that I can't for the life of me learn my way in its interior. So simple ship in the outside, so maze in the inside...
Glad to see someone can actually get into their connie in 3.0 haha
When the ship does not want you to leave him :(
that avenger looks great and is better looking than the ln aurora cheers
Thanks for the details!
Nice finish there! Shame about the bugs. *one day...*
Looks so strange without the leg compression, still looks amazing anyways.
Spend 20' of your life flying over a desert and then land . awesome. Well worth its 170mils and six years of waiting.
You wouldn’t think a ship this size would fly in atmospheric conditions without something providing upwards thrust near the bow, right?
nice landing! life hack alt + f to jump out of your seat quickly
I can’t wait for the people that bitch and moan about this game to eat their words. You do realize this is the biggest video game project ever conceived? Yet they act as if only few years is what it takes to make a game like this. Patience.
Aww no bouncy suspension on the Caterpillar yet? I am disappoint.
I think no ship has landing suspension yet but it's something we all want cause landings are something satisfying but we need to not feel like we drop it onto the ground
C4_yrslf watch some videos of the Cutlass black in 3.0. It's definitely in for at least that ship.
nice haven't seen it yet but happy to go take a look!
C4_yrslf yeah I can't wait to see how cool the Caterpillar looks with it!
Nice job landing that beast!!!
wonder if you can orbit a planet or moon with you ship that would be awsome and another cool mechanic would be if we see and hear breaking the sound barrier in atmospheric flight.
wasnt the fake opening doors and weird stuff even subject of a bug smashers several months ago? guess he didnt really smash anything.
Unless its an un-tweaked physics thing... I can see that entering atmo "looks" slow, but you are actually coming in really fast. So I guess I will have to a be patient and go through the "Orbital Step-down" procedures correctly or I will slam my shinny Mustang into a rock... lol
Looks pretty glitchy, but I assume it will be fixed. Otherwise it looks AWESOMEEEE! :D
very very nice
I am full of excitement
yea. how does the Caterpillar hover on planets without hover engines?
Sheesh! Why can't they accelerate and decelerate mouse/re-orientation movements? It would make things much smoother, less jerky, and just overall more pleasant and realistic to watch or experience--less toy-like--especially when viewing and changing orientations outside of a ship. A relatively simple change that will make A WORLD of difference.
trying to get back into this, How's the performance?
4790k 4.5GHZ
Strix 1080
damn those trails... it's ok to see trails of ships going with quantum drive, but not this. what's more, enginea are working, but ship is not accelerating at all.
Can you load vehicles on the cat?
OpTacoFriends you can load vehicles. But it’s a bit buggy.
Any of you Star Citizen guys know if they have gotten anywhere on the VR?
Cydonian Games I'll be sure to look into it thanks for the info.
You can really tell what a tech demo this game still is when people make videos just about how they land somewhere
it's in alpha...
It's in a testing release of alpha...
Personally I think making a game that gives such satisfaction even with simplistic tasks is a real achievement
that's.... the purpose of the 3.0 ptu.... people can now land ON PLANETS.
And to think that chris roberts wants to ask more money for the starter packs once they hit alpha 3.0... and the game is still in alpha.
That ship is haunted
6:20 the struggle
Rokybean fighting the bugs.
so what's holding the ship upright in the planet thought? in space it kinda just floats but when entering a planet it should collapse since it's too heavy and that single wing isnt good enough to keep it in air.
Aroder maneuvering thrusters allow it to fly in gravity conditions.
atmosphere on those moons are kind of thin so wings wouldn't do much anyways
gravity on moons are trash unless they're big moons so it should slightly float.
Its a video game
lmao this chain of comments
ha your ship was trolling you :)
Doors be warpgates
What was up with the rapid refreshing the mobi glass at around 6:30? Some kind of exploit or were you measuring something I wasn't paying attention to?
Gourd Chillgood it’s ptu bug. It automatically opens mobi glass after you try to close it.
Oh that's one of the more annoying bugs I've seen lol. Appreciate the content btw the cat's cool as hell.
Speeder bike bouncing into space is a good one. I smell the crysis frog in that one.
Damn I wish I had a pc and not a potato for a computer :(
Ark of Captain Blood Version 100.0 :D
Can I handle the game with an I7 7700k (stock), gtx 1070ti, 16gb 2666mhz ram?
How did you manage to get the Fps higher than 32, i have the same setup as you but i dont get fps over 32, is there a stupid cap, if so how can i fix it?
how do u use the freelook when u land and before..? F4 for camera then? i use Z but it doesnt work...
IronStone GR z works fine for me.
Ok first of all i cant take off by pressing SPACE like in other ships and now that...
IronStone GR cat sometimes has a bug that won’t let you start vertically.
GG 😆😆 well im at 2.6.3 yet
i binded the freelook to capslock and it works all the time
stop button = open exterior??
shouldn't it be a power off button??
might just be a temporary thing
I feel like it's temporary, and given the multiple functions, I'd say it's also a knob for locking and unlocking.
Does it really take that long to reach a destination? You're just sitting behind your computer staring at a screen... There's more fun things to do in life I hope?

Why are the stars 4 feet from the ship?
Or is that space debris?
Is that biggest ship in the universe atm?
Caterpillar and Starfarer are the biggest ships in the game so far.
Triss Merigold Thanks!
Starfarers not the biggest ship ingame anymore.
Will someone hire to play and one of the crew I’ll be dedicated if I’m paided
17:34 Star citizen overall...
You're saying that there are bad perfomance so why your game is so fluid?
Devastatorprime97 you can see many frame drops and quick freezes.
Ah lol i saw only the first part of it
sorry guys, but this game will always be buggy as hell
Wait... you still had bad performance with a i7 7700k and a 1080?! The fuck?!
how long will take untill we get a decent performance?! :/
Seems like they spent all 160 million dollars on making commercials. And now they want more money. GTFO
This game is very bugated
Lags...Lags..Lags......Lags.Lags.Lags.....Lags..Lags....
Playing this game is literally converting real money into space ships , then showing off the space ships instead of showing off other things you can buy with real money.
Lol this comment just shows that you have no idea about the game
First of all you dont buy ships you fund the game and get a ship as a thanks gift
To be fair, Vortex, I think we are past that point. I appreciate that it is to fund the game but "gift" is a bit much.
That said, I personally don't really feel that bad about having a cheaper ship. I hope the ingame progression is balanced though when it comes time for release(?)

Kenny Diqs bro, he was saying nothing bad about Star Citizen.

game in development since 2011 and so many bugs
- "its alpha bla bla bla"...
I can tell you don't know shit about code.
Cydonian Games You sure? I don't think we'll get it before February.
GTA VI is buggy as shit too and that has been in development since 2013.
Programing is like that. Give C++ a try ;)
Waste of time.
Wd McNeely maybe for you.
Some people have a different opinion on that.
For him it can be fun thing to do.
PCgameplaz then go play no man's sky lmao
yeah but NMS sucks tho.
