1 minute summary: Kelly Corrigan's TED talk "To Love Is to Be Brave" highlights the essence of bravery in family life. She recounts personal and observed moments of immense courage, emphasizing the importance of compassion, listening, and staying present amidst difficult circumstances. The ultimate act of bravery, she suggests, is letting go and allowing loved ones to navigate their own paths. The reward for such bravery is a profound human experience filled with selfless love and humble awe.
My mother was also a cancer fighter. She won the struggle, Alhamdulillah. Despite this, she continued to provide unwavering support and care to all of us while dealing with our teenage issues. Even at her most vulnerable moments, she made an effort to appear good, happy, and powerful. I adore you, mama! May Allah aid all cancer warriors around the world.
The thing I like the most about watching TED talks is the fact we’re able to see a whole life experience from a perspective of a relevant and observant person in a few minutes. This was intense and emotional and I didn’t even had to live a whole life to understand the feelings, cause she kinda did it for me, for us. Life is a beauty and sometimes a nightmare, but it is what it is, we gotta face it and enjoy our precious time with people we love. Thanks for sharing this message, this perspective.
Thoughtful talk. Thank you for reminding me that loving my sister during a horrible time in her life was not in vain, even though she died alone. Long story.
Very powerful and moving - I feel seen as a caregiver. Thank you for telling me I am being brave even when I often feel so unprepared and definitely untrained for this role. Thank you ❤ I needed that.
TRULY TRULY TRULY AMAZING. There was pure genuinety and emotion in her story which went straight to the apex of my heart. ❤ "To do love, to be love" - that's brave. ❤
Totally agree. Daring those emotions is a trial that puts bungee jumping in the shade but when you're in it it doesn't seem like anything other than doing what you need to do.
What a delightful “talk”. Once again, Kelly Corrigan makes emotions visual and palpable. She speaks beautiful words in such a clever and thoughtful cadence that you instantly feel that you know her or want to know her… Thank you Kelly and TED for another meaningful episode❤
I just absolutely balled my eyes out watching your talk. Thanks for perfectly summarising the meaning of life with your wise and eloquent words. I think they're going to stick with me forever.
I am learning to not give advice and to just listen and I am learning to not step in and solve every issue. But, I don't have a home base and my job requires me to live in several different countries and cities each year. So, I "stay" by always being available by phone, no matter what time zone I'm in, no matter where in the world I am. I'm always available to listen and support those who I love and who love me. I just can't be with them physically.

Rarely (or never) am I frozen to a video screen and listen so intently as with this video. You ask the question "Why do you have to watch?" aka the world, life around us? Because many/most of us care about their fellows, and from that all truth arises. And, yes, we can acknowledge the BRAVERY this takes. 🌺 🐝
Wonderful talk, I enjoyed the presentation, such an insightful & unobtrusive woman who has experienced much. I can relate & I understand how intense it is to bear witness to the bravery of others. I could watch this Ted Talk again & again. Thank you 🤩
I am leaving this comment here so that after some hours, days, weeks, months or years when someone likes or comment on it, I will be reminded to watch this video again
Thank you, completly enjoyed the immense insight and understanding the presenter communicated so elegantly. I hope to, atleast in some sense, one day understand what it means to be this brave!
Ouch, betrayal is a loaded word. How do you define betrayal? What was it? Was it intentionally against you. Or a partner, acting out their own trauma and fears. Are you able to talk to them, in a not judgmental non accusing way. So they feel safe enough to open up? Before doing anything drastic, see if you can have a heart to heart talk. As adults, we still act out our childhood trauma. I’m 64, and married, to the most beautiful woman. She thinks she is fat and unattractive. She says that her love for me, is deeper. Than the need for physical contact. The thing that I desire the most, is to be touched in a loving accepting intimate way. More than being able to share passion and desire. If I were able to experience this, with another person. Does not take away, my desire to be with my loved one. We mess up, for fear of opening ourselves, and accepting each other’s vulnerability.
*Amazing video, you work for 40yrs to have $1M in your retirement, meanwhile some people are putting just $10K into trading from just few months ago and now they are multimillionaires*
Good day all👍🏻 from Australia 🇦🇺. I have read a lot of posts that people are very happy with the financial guidance she is giving them ! What way can I get to her exactly ?
When a loved one forgets about You, and starts chasing You with a weapon to hurt you... Nursing Home time! No regrets... I'll visit 3x per week... F🤬🤬🤬 Bravery!
no one's capable of loving me. everyone just insists i have to love myself first, insultingly assuming i don't because disabled people can't possibly love themselves, there's nothing to love!
Wrong... unless you are one of the sadists who is stealing the life and happiness from all of us on the planet. There is a book out there by L. Ron Hubbard called Self Analysis. It takes you down a path out of your trap.
God loves you and cares for you so that this message reaches you. God is the one who created this large universe and controls it completely. The greatest loss a person loses in this life is that he lives without knowing God who created him and knowing the Messenger of Muhammad, the last of the messengers, and the Islamic religion, the last of the heavenly religions. Great intelligence, before you believe in something or not, is to read it, study it, and understand it well, and after that you have the choice to believe in it or not to believe in it. I advise you to do this now, before you no longer have time to do so. Life is very short. It is just a test, just a passage to eternal life. Great advice to those who... Understands
If you mean this video then you need to increase your vocabulary to include all the words she uses! For instance... do you know what "Bingo armed" means? I love new words!

Great intro!!!
The One is the one who stays ❤️
When there is betrayal in the relationship, do one still bravely navigate with love or should one bravely say goodbye to the past.
