I swear I had NO idea Once Upon a Dream was based on an actual classical music piece. Another reason to love Tchaikovsky.
Isn't that cool?
The music in the Disney movie is basically all Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty ballet score! It’s great
Did not know this till I watched lie in April
Doesn’t really surprise you when you realize there’s not a single thing Disney didn’t rip off.
@@thelastname261 The difference is that much of the material used by Disney is public domain, Kimba is controversial since it is still copyrighted, but many fairy tales and classical music are not under copyright, anyone can use it.
The problem with Disney is that while they took so many copyright-free material from the public domain, they refuse to allow their creations to become public domain, every time Mickey Mouse is going to become public domain, they changed copyright laws, thankfully, they aren't trying it again and Mickey is set to become public domain in 2024.
His music is pure love.
Mayhaps not the "1812"?
Actually in 1812 I hear a dance/ conversation between male/ female.. listen to the back and forth between the horns/ strings

No matter what i listen to be it pop, rock or phonk i keep coming back to classical music and specifically Tchaikovsky ❤

What matters is that we're all here to appreciate the music. We all ended up here for different reasons, but it's music that binds us all together!

I'm just happy Disney recognized and paid tribute to Tchaikovsky in their Classic animated film.
Tribute perhaps , more like Walt is no dummy and the music is in the public domain and therefore free.
Ikr
not at that time it wasn't.
The original was first performed in 1890, no? The animated film came out in 1959. Copyright law in the 50s dictated a work had 28 years of copyright, with 28 more possible with a renewal period. Funny, 1959 - 1890 isn't less than 56...

I love how we recognize Tchaikovsky's pieces from our childhood and when we find the piece again, we get hit by nostalgia
It's really sad that Walt Disney made a huge tribute to Tchaikovsky's classical piece but the Sleeping Beauty film (which is one of the best animated films in terms of its art style approach) was a box office bomb during its release back in 1959, the film wasn't really appreciated much until it was re-released once again in theaters and VHS.
sleeping beauty is still so underrated even today, in my top 5 for disney princess movies for sure
@@earthtominiryu the art style in the movie is one of the best in any disney movie
Just to point out. Sleeping Beauty is a French Fairytale written by Charles Perrault in the early 17th Century
Actually the film was top 10 in the box office that year. It was only a "bomb" because it was SOOOOO expensive to make. It was simply impossible to make up it's budget at the time. It cost over 6 million to make but it was worth every penny!
The soundtrack and unique art style are the best parts about sleeping beauty
Чайковский создал столько шедевров!🥰♥️
I think the Disney movie is so artistically beautiful and fits the music, I think Tchaikowsky would of loved the movie.

It's an honor to be here because of Tom & Jerry or Disney's first and original Sleeping Beauty. That means cartoons in our childhood taught us to appreciate classical music :)

Wow, no bloody wonder I love Once Upon a Dream. It was basically written by Tchaikovsky.
No, it was completely written by Tchaikovsky. Disney just put words to it.
@@testodude Tchaikovsky did not completely write Once Upon a Dream. He wrote something nicer, and then Disney took it and cut it up and altered it slightly to make their version. That was my point.
@@manuelalvarado6510 I'm sure Tchaikovsky would be too busy tending his rosebushes to care about it, and would just be happy that people were enjoying his music.

This is music to transcend nationality, culture, class, or century. The man wasn't only a genius, but a pure artist in the way of Leonardo and the other greats of all time. May his works sing forever.
We might all appreciate it but it has Russian spirit.
Leonardo studied ancient Egyptian writings, so created simplified, watered-down versions of what he learned. Imhotep was the TRUE genius who inspired Leonardo.

OMG I didn't know from 2:07 comes the melody that Aurora sang in the woods alone.

me too! I didn't know!!
I wonder, I wonder Why each little bird Has a someone~
I came here because I like classical music, but stayed when I realized this was in Tom & Jerry after all these years.
+Quote Mark I remember this from the Disney animated classic, "Sleeping Beauty" as the song, "I know you, I've walked with you once upon a dream". Aurora sang it with her animal friends dressed up as her dream prince, while The real Prince Philip watching her sing from behind the bushes. Earlier in the film Philip, as a lad of six, looks at her lying in a baby basket after her birth and grimaced when his father says, "Your future wife, Philip". Some 18 years later he's totally taken with her. At the end of the song he steps in and catches her in his arms. Naturally Aurora is totally embarrassed and flustered to be staring at her "real" prince charming" and runs away. All quite romantic and excellently done in Disney's trademark gorgeous animation. The song's lyrics are perfectly "wedded" to Tchaikovsky's classic Sleeping Beauty tune here. Just an absolutely delightful treat for kids and adults alike.
+Jingzhong Fan Excuse me, but (leaving Disney productions aside), a dream is NOT "loving blindly"!! It is very deep and spiritual, and sometimes the only door you have into someone's true personality. Dreaming is linked with "those who SEE", so how can it mean loving blindly?! Also, not all dreams happen "because you saw them somewhere": you can meet them because you first dreamed about them! You should study these things more, because you do not have the correct information. Dreaming is the place where you are completely free, to be who you are, it has nothing to do with "appearance" but with how you feel when you are free. Of course, if you are too stressed to be free in your dreams, this will show as a nightmare. But again you have no real cause to be annoyed - you simply do not know how dreaming works. AND - just because someone is beautiful to you, doesn't mean they cannot be ALSO deep and meaningful. We are attracted to different people and YES, they appear beautiful to us! Why shouldn't they? It's so silly to say "you shouldn't love someone because of this or that" - LOVE IS LOVE, and if it is not love, then it is not love!
PS: "Dream first, then true love" actually happened to the performer Darren Hayes, if you know who he is. He wrote a song, which is like a dream, about what he wanted, and then he met the love of his life. So think on! Dreams *inform us* about the Light, which is true love. Often you don't actually see a face or "appearance", you just know that it is your love. Then when you meet them, you recognize them instantly. However, Sleeping Beauty is about something else completely (Maleficent is closer to the original story, than this animation) - it is about trusting someone, when you feel that you cannot trust anyone. It is about a different love, not prince and princess from the royal family. The Dream tells Maleficent that she can trust this person, even if she was hurt so much in the past - the Dream says this person will not do anything to hurt her, because the "gleam in your eyes" is familiar (it means they trust each other).

Tchaikovsky is the greatest composer in terms of melodies that have stood the test of time.
The first time I heard this was in Disney's Sleeping Beauty. However my grandmother introduced me to tons of classical music. I inherited her vinyl collection which has about any classical piece you could want. The Sleeping Beauty is of course included in my collection and it's one of my favorite records.
You might want to rely on guys like Jimmy Dore for genuine comedy while learning about what’s actually going on in the world, rather than relying on corporate mainstream media for your entertainment. But nice story about granny. I bet she’s really proud of you.

1) Disney's Sleeping Beauty
2) Your Lie In April
3) Tom and Jerry
Being exposed to a lot of orchestral music as a kid, I have always loved this piece. I forgot about it until a few weeks ago when I stumbled upon the piano version in "Your Lie in April." I couldn't figure out why it was so familiar until now. Oh how I've missed this piece

When my daughter was a baby, her crib's mobile played a version of this song. To calm her crying, I used to dance in the kitchen with her to the Disney "Once Upon a Dream" and also sing it to her as a lullaby. Now she's big enough to dance with me when the song comes on in Sleeping Beauty.

The sleeping child, Princess Aurora, was real. This was wrote in her honor. Disney created their version of remembering through animated story telling. They should all flow together, that was the creator's goals
I like to imagine that one day Tchaikovsky woke up from a dream he couldn't quite remember. It was about a very pure, warm light, threatened by an envious, deep, evil darkness. About how that light was doomed to sleep and be forgotten, but love emerged like a hero and lifted it from the darkness, dancing with the light an ineffable melody. When he woke up, all he could think about was what he'd heard in the dream and the old fairy tale he'd kept in his memory. And then he started composing. I like to imagine it, and in the end, I'm the one who keeps dreaming of this divine ball, where love finally marries the awakening light.

All these people saying its "from something" incorrect it was composed before anything you say regarding it.
A completely agree with you.
These composers deserve their credit for what they have brought us.
A TV should not receive more recognition for a piece than than the composer himself.
Have a good morning, afternoon, evening, and night.
Luca Martelli Now see: not everyone is bound to know a song from it's original source. I like the fact that people came to this song through "a TV", as you put it, because they found it, didn't they? They liked it enough from when it appeared on the "TV", and they actually put the effort into looking for it. Sure, them waltzing and saying "lololol this is from ****!!!" isn't a particularly pleasant comment to read, but they got it from somewhere, and they enjoyed it, and they found it, and enjoyed it some more.
It's a fantastic thing, that more people got to listen to this wonderful waltz, even if it was through "a TV". By putting on high and mighty airs like that, you're ruining the fun that people get from having found something beautiful. This isn't a high school clique.
