When he came to America in 1891 - after inaugurating (and conducting in) Carnegie Hall - he later stayed in Taos, New Mexico; his hosts took him out to the pueblo one night to experience the Indians dancing. My take is: that's when he looked up and really saw the stars… and he made his peace with death. He died two years later… but his music is timeless.
