Arcade Game: Gaplus (Aka Galaga 3) (1984 Namco)

- A shooting 'em up game sequel to Galaga. You can use Tractor Beams to capture up to 6 enemies to fight in your side and you get a multi-shooting for more points. To get the Tractor Beam, you must shoot the aliens who mutated into a more mature form. You can also move up and down in addition to move left and right.
Note: Used Invincibility cheat after down to last life. The game is endless so I played as far as I can. I quit afterwards. - Ігри
I've never heard of this game until today!! Seems like Galaga was the apple of the series, Galaxian was the predecessor, and then this game was the unsung successor/sequel.
Pretty weird for an arcade game to have you enter your blood type for the high score table.
in case you started to bleed to death in one of the stores while you played this game, so the paramedics could know what type of blood you needed without calling your mom, I guess
age too lol
@DrMrProfessorPatrick
Do you like Barney the Purple Dinosaur?
According to The Cutting Room Floor:
* Tomodachi Life allows a player to enter the blood type of their Mii in the Japanese and Korean releases. All other versions remove the ability to do so.
* Superman for the NES had the ability to type in both a name and blood type in the Japanese version which altered Superman's stats it seems. Removed in all other versions.
* Princess on Ice had all characters replaced for the Japanese release. The bios were updated to remove the favorite color and horoscope symbol in place of blood type.
* Fire Emblem for the GBA had a Tactician that you technically played as in the story. At the start of the game, you give your Tactician a birth month and a blood type to get your affinity, which gives a bonus to the stats of your units with the same affinity. In all non-Japanese releases, the blood type was removed and the birth month decides affinity only. This creates a error in non-Japanese games as in the previous game, the affinity of two characters who were twins differed due to blood-type. That game was Japan-only, however.
Also, for Gaplus, you could enter two secret codes into the Hi-Score table. Both are Japanese only and require the correct blood type of OO for both. One sets the default lives to eight until restarted and the other locks the screen on a special message.
@@m1c2bWfBCP2Fupgg They probably just put that because they PROBABLY want their age to remain anonymous, you know. Frick, I don't even know my own blood type.
Awesome, I remember seeing this as kid and then is vanished from our arcade.. Now 30 some years later we're thinking about making Galaga styled game for a tutorial series..
it's really fun to see your channel now to find you made just that, at least in the style of space invaders
Got ONCE into PARSEC 68.. one of the success in my life..

Forgot to mention that the mature gaplus only gives you two tries. After that it flies away
Edit: Also to get the tractor beam you have to get the gaplus while its moving otherwise it won't give it
Watching you play this makes my brain hurt.
Gaplus AKA Hard Galaga
This is a presentation of how i remember Galaga for some reason.
Should of been aka Galaxian 3 since that game came first.
No way. It should be Galaxian 2 because Galaga is it's own thing.
Jk
@@Lightblue2222 I KNOW! We should call it Gaplus!
I would say I wish I played this game, but then I remember playing some super dramatic hyper version of Galaga that had a whole plot to it on a PS2. This game is like its predecessors.
What was it called? Sounds interesting
@@-._Radixerus_.- I believe it's called Galaga Arrangement. Pac-Man Arrangement is another one.
In the challenging stage if you shoot the ships once per ‘bounce’ they stay on the screen, and you can spell out the whole word on the screen. If you double hit each ship before they bounce like in the video they fly off the top if the screen and you dont get another hit. Ie if there are 3 ships in screen you go shoot shoot shoot, wait for them to go up and cone down then shoot shoot shoot again, you keep on going until its too fast for you
Yeah, that's one of the best uses for the tractor beam- even just two additional units on both sides really cuts down the amount of sideways motion you needed to keep one or two bouncing back and forth at speeds that would finish a letter in a few seconds.
Since Pac-Man and Xevious arrived on Switch via Arcade Archives, I hope that this game, along with other Namco Classics arrive on Arcade Archives on Switch.
Got good news for u
@@bubhoward8642 Yes, it came. I hope to download it someday.
@@juanbautistagonzalezrodrig9715 it's 5 usd for 11 retro games now. Pretty good deal.
I wish that one of these long-plays would actually go for the secret ship that you could pilot. You had to not shoot at any of the bugs as they form up, kill only the second-to-the-last bug on the very bottom row, and then crash your ship into one of the bug ships. When your ship respawns, you get the other ship (the one that you always see above the "hero ship" in the game's main idle screen.)
From what I remembered, it had a faster rate of fire.
pretty much all the Japanese 1-million point gaplus challenges on youtube get the secret ship first.

Galaxian, Galaga, Gaplus.
*There is a pattern*
got 7 mil on this game once
ive clocked this game on a sony errickson k10i
It took him 2 minutes to actually play the game
Not a bad game...i enjoyed it...
"I quit afterwards" thank god, for a moment I thought you were trapped in the game.
sometimes one more brushstroke ruins the painting
But why age and blood
Many Japanese and Koreans believe blood type determines your personality. It's often included when introducing yourself to someone you're interested in dating and a good ice breaker.
Mediocrates Pseudonym Ah, ok
Age 00
