    This is great!
    To be honest, Galaga '88 could've had a Sega Genesis port.

      if the Sega Genesis/Mega~Drive could match the
      hardware in the Galaga 88 arcade game then yes

      It could've had a Super NES port, too. The Super NES had the graphical and sound capabilities necessary, and its clock speed would've been sufficient to not suffer from slowdown with so few sprites on screen at any time.

      did you know that the turbo grafx 16's processor has the same amount of megahertz as the genesis processor? i guess they both have blast processing.

    VERY much my favorite arcade game of all time

  • @AmigaX

    My ranks of each version of the game (Not counting Emulated Ports).
    4, Gamer Gear, It’s not bad, while it seems to play aright, it’s highly simple, but still impressive for the hardware. 7.4/10
    3. PC Engine, This Port is great, it looks almost arcade prefect, the sound is almost like the 1981 Galaga. Overall, great. 8.9/10
    2. Sharp X68000, Well, not much to say, it looks great, it plays great, it sounds great (with better samples than the arcade version) and even a Bonus Level. Overall, very great but nothing beats the Arcade version. 9.3/10.
    1. Arcade, When this came out, it was pretty much a upgraded and more modern version of Galaga with updated graphics, sound, and gameplay. Looking back, it seems to hold up. With great graphics for the time, and good gameplay. It feels like a real updated version of Galaga and not some version of 81 Galaga with updated graphics and sound. Overall, it holds up. 9.4/10
    There wasn’t much to cover this time.

    PC Engine's version is great, though the warps max out at Dimension 4 (the arcade lets you go to 5). X68000 is the typical arcade perfect port you'd expect on that system, plus the arrange mode.

    • @2kBofFun
      @2kBofFun 3 роки тому +2

      But the PC Engine has that boss-defeat tune no other version has, and it is magnificant, maybe even the best game music ever.

  • @Sgt_Viper000
    @Sgt_Viper000 Рік тому +2

    Do you know who the composer was for the Sharp X68000 arrangement themes? I've been looking everywhere for their work since the UA-cam page he used to post his music on had since been deleted.

    Such an underappreciated version of Galaga, and most especially impressive for the time it was made in

    Here's a tip for a guaranteed Perfet bonus. Don't do anything during the Galactic Dancin' segments. Don't move, don't shoot. This will nab you 10k points.

    For the next part of the Galaga series, Gaplus would be nice! Oh, and Bandia Namco also released their NES Gaplus port to the Nintnedo Switch! Can you do the NES version as a bonus?

    • @MobiBit645
      @MobiBit645 3 дні тому

      I don't think there's a whole lot of gaplus ports tho, I think the first time it was ported was 1996 on Namco museum volume 2

  • @2kBofFun
    @2kBofFun 3 роки тому +3

    The PC Engine version is the best. The Arcade is smoother, more refined, but also too hard and totally unforgiving. The PC Engine is the version that is almost arcade-perfect in graphics, the sound is even better, it's grittier, 12 bit wavetables are the best, and where it beats the arcade is in the stereo image. Also the PC Engine has that BOSS-defeat tune not available in any other version, it is worth 2 bonus points by itself! I even dare call the PC Engine boss-defeat-theme the best video game music ever! And there is a chance you reach the final boss, you can pretty much forget that on the Arcade, museum and X68000 versions.

    • @chriscapaccio4342
      @chriscapaccio4342 Місяць тому

      Hard disagree on the music; I think arcade has the PC Engine beat. But in terms of gameplay it’s vice versa, like you said…

      @@chriscapaccio4342 If you think the arcade music is better, you never beat the end boss. Galaga 88 PCE has the most asthonishing boss defeat tune ever.

    Secret, if you have a super ship on Galaga ‘91 (Sega Game Gear), press the “a” and you can have powerful cannon fire! It can instant kill the space bugs that capture your fighter, powerful space bugs, and even the bosses! You can also use powerful cannon fire in challenging stages! (That is galactic dancing)

    'Super' Galaga ('Super' is 16-bit game installment term), but lack of ports such as Atari computers (ST/STe), Amiga, PC-DOS, Mega Drive, Super Nintendo, Macintosh (Mac OS 7 port) and Atari Lynx (extracted from Game Gear version of Galaga 1988).

    8:48 This ship bares a vague resemblance to another ship that was used in the psp galaga arrangement.

    Do the ports comparison :
    Super Street Fighter IV (2010) => comparison between arcade version, home version (PS3/Xbox 360/Windows) and Nintendo 3DS version.
    The Sims (2002 video game, but console version with full-3D environment unlike debut version which only for PC) => comparison between console version (PS2/GCN/Xbox) and handheld version (e.g. GBA)
    Super Street Fighter II Turbo/X (1994) => including 'HD Remake' version
    OutRunners (1992)
    Power Drift (1988)
    Micro Machines (1991)
    Pit-Fighter (1991)
    SimCity (1989)
    SimCity 2000 (1993)
    Street Fighter Alpha/ZERO 3 (1998) => Including 'MAX' version
    Salamander/Life Force (1986)
