For example, the settings you showed on Fortnite suit the game, especially with that view distance, without having to resort to performance mode. You also didn't mislead people into thinking that this card is some preferable solution for today's gaming, you showed games where it absolutely struggled to give a playable experience. Awesome vid!

Love the videos man! I'd love to see coverage of the 1660/ti/super lineup. Its been working like a charm throughout the gpu pandemic for me. Only nitpick, that I got though gaming experience, is that maybe it has the 3.5gb of fast vram and 0.5gb slow vram issue of the gtx 970, as most games seem to go to 3.5, and only if I go to 4k, is when the game uses more.
@@IcebergTech Yep, tore down mine too, to give it watercooling, due to my tesla m40 datacenter card restricting its airflow. A strange thing I noticed with mine, is with the memory chips on the back. The one closer to the pcie connector stays cool, below 40, but for some reason, the outer one goes to around 57 degrees at times. Makes me believe maybe 3 chips are faster vram, while 1 chip is slower vram, so the gpu prefers to use below 3gb of vram whenever possible to keep vram speed up.
@@IcebergTech I believe the "3.5 Gb" is not due to the dram chips on the board, but because the chip does not have enough ROPs for 4gb, so nVidia had to do some kind of work around
The free option is to mod the BIOS and reduce the clock speeds and/or voltage, but that's a whole can of worms and you might brick your card. The cheap- but not free- option is to dismantle your card, clean off the old thermal paste and apply some new, good stuff like Arctic MX4 or Noctua NT1. If you haven't already done this, it's an excellent way of improving thermals but, again, isn't for the faint of heart. Find some instructions online for repasting GPUs if in doubt!
@@IcebergTech yeah 60 pounds is too much, on US ebay they can be had for $40. I think the HD 7750 is fairly similar if you find one that doesn't need additional power, and there's the r7 260x, which while not quite as similar surprisingly has full dx12 support and is considered the closest one can get to the xbox one GPU
I've been doing more research into low end GCN GPUs, and came up with a couple interesting things: the R7 450 is essentially a HD 7750 rebrand with 4gb GDDR5, only GCN1 so middling DX12 support, very similar to the R7 350. What gets my interest is the Firepro W5100, a 4gb GDDR5 GCN 2.0 variant of the R7 260x, but without the need of a 6 pin power connector with DX12 feature level 12_0 support (Halo infinite MP possible?) and Freesync support. It has a low profile variant called the Firepro W4300 as well. Hoping to buy one once I sell off some old parts so I can experiment with Nimez drivers on it.

It’s not exactly the same GPU, the M2000M is more like a GTX 750Ti where the M2000 is more of a GTX 950; plus, laptop GPUs have different power and thermal limits. The ways to avoid tearing are v-sync, g-sync, freesync and just raw high FPS. You’re probably limited to v-sync with your setup, I think. @AL-Reyashi [FM] Well, the M2000 simply isn't available in a laptop, and the M2000M can't easily be used on a desktop. One isn't really an alternative to the other. In a best-case scenario, I.e. not thermal or power limited, the M2000M is maybe 15-20% slower. It is also Maxwell 1.0, so is slightly less compatible. It’s probably closer to a K2200 than the M2000
