Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

''Hey little guy, I came to pet you with a shovel'' ! This channel never fails to entertain. Thumbs up.
*Thunk* I pet you. I pet you
I laughed so hard.
Dude! That was funny!
First thing in a long while on anyone's video to truly get me laughing....but then living in the middle of wheat fields the little buggers think my house walls are a great place to overwinter, i often feel like petting them and my walls with a sledgehammer in the middle of the night
@@lydia4127 two of my cats chased a mouse around my garage tonight I came out just in time to see the mouse swaying from the antenna on my radio about 12 ft up in the air. Hanging on for dear life
Hilarious!
"Hi mouse I've come to pet you with a shovel" Zach Johnson 2021 harvest inspirational quotes
That quote would look great on a shirt.
🤣🤣😂😂🤣 oh god that’s the best thing ever
And I give the racoons I trap a "dirt nap" :)
"Friendly little mouse I pet you with shovel"Jeez Zach that was funny😂🤣
I laughed so hard at this one. Really funny.
The anxiety induced laugh isn't working for ya. 🤔
AND with one hand!
Literally LMBO!
Since I retired and and started watching you harvest. I haven’t been as worn out as I was when I’d harvest
Though combing corn was my favourite. Just hated the long hours.
This way we can watch Zach and his father in our leasure time.
@@va3kbc I remember when GPS meant
Got Power Steering.
Tough MN mice. Have to pet 'em with a shovel! The corn is actually doing something. I'm impressed you can do anything with those stalks. Good work by all.
Since corn is doing so nicely this year, somebody suggest to Zach and Nate that they plant their corn sideways next year!
Growing up and working on dairy farms, I learned to appreciate how hard farmers work, as there is ALWAYS a job that needs to be done. Thank you for always putting out entertaining videos, sir! Stay safe and God bless your family.
Thanks for taking the time to video
When you flat out at it.
Great to see your dad with no cane glad to see he’s doing better
Pops rock!
Yea! Seeing him standing up on the header cleaning windows, ... good sign.
Dad has his mojo back, good to see
Are these guys turnip farmers?
And climbed the stairs on the bin. Awesome.
I must say I love how you pet a mouse!! Sure made my day!
Wow! Corn harvest has you running in a thousand different directions. Thank God for a wonderful family, a recovering Father, and heavy corn.
My favorite time of the year. Almost daily uploaded from one of my favorite farmers 🤙🏻
find something on TV that has as much interesting content as this. Certainly not the Kardashians complaining about the feelings
I am a 50-year-old man from Brooklyn New york. And I know nothing about farming but you make me binge watch your channel as much as I can get! You just make it very entertaining and very interesting. Thank you for killing most of my time.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. I had to laugh a bit with your dad being in the “go mode”. I must share with you that I have been there done that. It all works in the end. Nice to see your dad getting around without his cane. See he climbed the bin also. Good for him and his knee.
That gate that closed in one of your pits. Glad you can get a vac to clean it out. Is there someway that gate can be converted to electronic control???? Might help. Probably not.
The weight on your corn is great. Have not seen that for some years. Like the way you petted that mouse. Quick little animals. But you got em in the end. Dangerous with a shovel Zach.
What a busy day with all that was going on. Wow. Hang in there. Keeps you moving for sure.
Like the seals on your doors. Good product.
About it for now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks.
The Iowa farm boy from years ago.
Ahhh that was so nice the way you pet that mouse with that shovel. I think I've been to agressive I'm glad I got to see how it should be done 😂😂😂
We are so happy the harvest is going great my church and I prayed many hours over your farm and your family God bless y'all
Hey Zach, could we get a "story time" with Jim? I feel like it would be very interesting
Was not expecting so many liked
That is a terrific idea.
it's great how Jim gets excited with the progress and bushel weights.
Enjoyed watching you “pet” the mouse. Keep the great content coming
My buddy just cropped 150 acres here in North Carolina and the test weight was 62.7 per bushel
I really enjoy this channel, especially the way you go about fixing your own stuff. It was difficult to comprehend how little rain you have had since planting, but unless I am wrong the yields are good & much less of a need to dry the corn down. Wishing you a profitable harvest.
Zack, this has been the busiest day I've watched. Seems like you get pulled 100 different ways and feels like you don't get anything done. You should sleep good tonight.😆 But if your busy, then your making money. And that's a good thing. 👍👍
That's the life of a dairy farmer every single day....
@@spencerhanson5606 yeah dairy farming is for the birds least grain farmin is 4 and 4 and 44
My cousin use to be a dairy farmer, I visited them years ago,. The difference between the hired hand and the farmer was that the hired hand got the weekends off.
@@garyeaton5719 yeah I use to help a dairy farmer harvest silage after we were done doing sweet corn harvest. Our trucks hauled double what their trucks hauled. It was an occupation that you must love because there wasn’t any return on investment of time. Going 24/7 and never a day off. To smell like cow poo and copper that they washed the hooves in. I think that’s why when dairy farmers go broke they have problems moving on. It’s all they know. Farming in general doesn’t make it worth while. I farm still and it’s definitely something you have to passionate about you can make way more money doing tons of other things.
@@adamkruskama8455 It was a love of the life, he had a way with animals and used truck and trailer to haul animals as he phased out of dairy. Then they retired and sold the farm, both passed several years ago.
They never got rich, but led a pretty full life and I don’t think they would have traded for anything.
When dad is in "go mode," drop what you are doing and respond accordingly.
They may sound like suggestions, but they're actually commands! Lol
That's a Pavlov reaction. Growing up, if you didn't "go", you got smacked on the head or a boot to the behind.
@@henrylopez5252 exactly !👍
@@henrylopez5252 Yes. that's a passive aggressive Midwestern thing. Never question. Ever.
I used to work at Lowry MFG and built those Dumpits... Pretty sure yours was built before I worked there in 2013. Actually was my first real job and met my wife there. Would be an interesting offseason video to go tour the building process and a local business to showcase their products. Keep up the great content! Love being able to keep up on West Central MN harvest since I moved away.
I'm not a farmer and not particularly technical minded but found this fascinating to watch. Respect to all farmers for overcoming all hitches and delivering. 👍
Life on a farm - something always breaks. Hoping the rest of the harvest went well. Take care, hope the family and you are doing great.
“I came to pet you with a shovel!” *smack*
BRUTALITY!
I love videos like this! So much going on and shows that it's not all just sitting in the cab of a tractor, combine or semi. Hate to see you having issues, but love the fact you show it's not always smooth. Just a big fan of harvest season and the videos all you great farmtubers put out. I appreciate all your work!
Thanks for sharing. Really interesting how you and your team manage and coordinate all aspects of the operation. Awesome video. Felt like I was there.
It’s definitely great to see your dad out and about without a cane. I hope you have a better harvest. Grain in the tank is money in the bank.
I chased a mouse like that once. I missed with the shovel and it turned around and ran up my leg inside my jeans. It made it up past my knee despite a lot of jumping and kicking. I had to lower my pants to remove the smashed and bloody mouse. I had a big bruise on my thigh for about a week from pounding on that mouse inside my pants to make sure it didn't get any higher.
Thanks for the laugh…when our plagues were at the worst in Victoria, 🇦🇺 we’d use ‘adhesive weld’ to weld our boots to our jeans. Worked beautifully!
That's terrifying lol
"Pounding the mouse" .......I've never heard it called that before! :)
working in Texas on SUPER 8 Motel-- a while back-- they wanted to build it on a place where hay had been stacked for years --- a thick layer of baling wire in the trench dug for footer "who is going to take the soft dirt out?" I tied every opening shut --dig it out --loaded with fire ants-- Did you get bit? NO just had to do it fast----
Google " Mississippi Squril" by Ray Stevens/ Zach would like that.
Zach....can't tell you how neat it is to see how your Dad and you work together to overcome challenges. 🙂
I have to admit, personally that was one of your better videos.....Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian subscribers!!
I just love seeing Zach and his dad working together. How many hours must they have spent together? Now they communicate in shorthand. Onyx up next with Zach!
Heh... "I just want to pet you with a shovel..." Yes sir, pretty much sums up a fair few days of my week. Appreciate the vid and the laugh. Keep safe.
Yeah, come to think of it, I've had some coworkers I would have done that to.
I’m early but anyways Zach thanks for sharing all your life farming and making donations to others and being the good person you are and whoever sees this god loves you and have a blessed day
I love watching your videos, they remind me of my youth growing up farming with my dad I truly miss those days
love this time of year your dad is walking better every day
You can tell it's heavy corn 🌽 , it all fell over !! 😉😉
Amazing he corn is doing so well with the lack of rain this past year for you. Something to be thankful for.
Lennie held out his hands pleadingly. “Give ’um to me, George. I’ll take ’um back. I didn’t mean no harm, George. Honest I didn’t. I jus’ wanted to pet ’um a little.”
Classic Steinbeck!
I can still tend the rabbits, George? I didn't mean no harm, George.
Rip Lennie. Great book by Steinbeck.
You all looked seriously grumpy this morning. Much more than usual.
Adhesive welds are the best
never tried petting a friendly mouse with a shovel. Used a bale hook a few times.
I find it amazing that crop technology is at the point where we can have such little rain and yet still have a "decent" harvest. Even here in beet country the sugar content is surprisingly well. It truly is a testament to midwest soil and seed producers.
Zach if you haven't fixed the GPS problem it could be the electric hydro. proportional valve part #RE33300. Its a black box under front of cab, we changed ours out on JD 9670 and never had issue since. I had similar problems with it randomly kicking out and throwing codes
Anyone else absolutely love the sound of the 9870 unloading corn?
We have around 80,000 pound corn dang your guys is light.
Dang Zack, you guys are getting heavy corn this year. That’s a good thing. My Granddaddy’s rule of thumb was 54 lbs per bushel for corn here in Georgia. That helps out with the poor growing season a bit.
A bushel is 56 pounds for corn, you get doct for any thing less than that test weight.
@@josephgottwald9445 We never sold corn. It ALL went to the hog operation. Plus my Granddad was totally dry land farming.
@@josephgottwald9445 Usually don't get docked right under 56lbs, around us you have to get to under 52lbs before there is any dock
@@josephgottwald9445 I don't get docked until 54
what part of georgia you from
Iam sorry but I literally LOL'd when Zach said hey little mouse I came to put you with a shovel! lolol.
Keep up the great work, Millennial ! You make amazing videos!
“I’ve come to pet you with my shovel 😂😂”I love it
Busy day as usual when it’s harvest season! 👨🏼🌾🍻
Zack, thanks for squeezing us in to your busy day. Harvest ! Days are long enough, just not wide enough.
Good job editing the vids Becky!
It's crazy how accurate the fs19 map is with your dryer controls, let alone everything else.
One of the best maps in game. Worth the 2 year wait lol
Love the map and all the Easter eggs all around the map
What map
@@HIGHREVS are you serious
Can I get the map on Xbox
What a great day Ivers Farms & now Millennial Farmer 👍😃🌽
Duct tape is "The Handyman's Secret Weapon"
I'm glad to hear that the entire harvest has not been a complete disaster despite such a dry season followed a crop smashing storm. I guess a benefit of having such a big operation is that things can average themselves out.
This video really conveyed the hard work and how busy you all you are with the harvest. I hope that you get through it with not much more trials and tribulations.
"Pet you with a shovel." Lol
When I was an elevator Bob, we patched auger tubes with contact cement and a piece of inner tube. Then wrap a couple of pieces of baling wire around it.
Have y'all ever thought of putting in an overhead storage bin that could hold like 2 trucks worth of product? That would maybe not only speed up your turn around time with your trucks but also not delay you running the drier as you could put a couple loads in the overhead load out bin and then refill as needed keeping your drier running more. Just a thought and question.
Zach should be named Super Millennial Farmer...so many jobs, so little time!
I just can't believe that a farmer fixed his own John Deere tractor! Old man Deere is rolling in his grave, Lawsuit - what - lawsuit? Love your videos. Health and happiness for all of your team/family
Love a good mouse petting. By the way, if you get one caught in a tight spot, like a piano and a wall, and you can't "pet them" with something hard, a vacuum cleaner works. . . the little dude was spread eagle on the end of it vibrating like crazy in the wind, but he wasn't letting go!
The shovel and the mouse. Is that Millennial dangerous game hunting!
Haha I’m just going to pet you with this shovel. That’s a quote for a T-shirt that is!
WOW you're clearly the hub of that farm. I'm always impressed how you manage the grain storage system. The place would fall apart without you.
Hey little guy I came to pet you with a shovel 🤣 best part of the video
The struggle is always real it seems like during harvest. Good luck, and stay safe.
Nothing like petting the nice sweet mouse
You are so nice petting that lol mouse with a shovel.
Lol, I came to pet you with a shovel.. I love that line.
I've dumped a lot of corn into the pit & at the ground piles too at our local feed-lots. I drove the harvest trucks for my Fire Cheif & we'd harvest between fire calls! LoL
1:10 I love how your Dad stands there like "uh this looks heavy, glad I don't have to do this!"
Thanks!
Always the same thing with those farm dogs, the one at the farm where I worked just did not give a shit anymore, could drive the forklift right by his face full speed, just would not give a shit, did result in that dog getting a slight reminder a couple of times
Keep them coming 👍👍

Best videos on UA-cam! I am always waiting for the next video!
I am 56 yo and totally relate to your fathers way of thinking and doing things (I have a dairyfarm background with some potato fields), you can't beat experience! Also glad the fabricated knees seem to be doing a good job. If I were you I would give the whole yard a hardened surface with concrete or something hard like that (but than again, I'm not you 😂).
When using adhesive weld to fix a hole in a pipe you will find it has a much better chance of lasting the season if you cut open a container from your favourite cold snack and use the aluminum to seal the hole, protecting your hundred mile an hour tape. Recycling at it's best.
That adhesive weld lasts a hell of a lot longer when you cut a small piece of flashing tin, put it over the hole and tape it on.
We call adhesive weld, Saskatchewan chrome up here 😂
Love me some adhesive weld. FYI. The flex seal is pretty good as well. Not good enough to patch a boat in shark infested waters!! Lol. Don’t know if you have preference. But iv found that gorilla tape is the best in my book
You guys are so good at resolving these problems that come up.
Nice video makes me miss farming but one complete where is the mossing Shield on the auger belts that is an easy way to get yourself all tore up, get yourself a shield on all your belts on motors do not risk your life or your children's lives safety first. I know they can get in the way but taking a few seconds to remove it can save you from losing an arm or a leg I know it's time consuming at times but an arm or leg is worth one minute of taking a shield off to i to get to work on it
You know it's really funny is when corn don't go down it has to tell me it's called doesn't matter what stopped it clogged just like your bathroom if things don't go down is called clogged but I'm sure you figured that out right but I wish you a very good day for sure guys are sure working hard I hope you do good talk to you later God bless good video🙏👍
You have to revamp your system. So you don't have to shut your dryer down to load trucks
I love petting mice with shovels! Us Midwestern millennials are all alike...
my friend.. i miss the old days videos with 10-15minutes of tractor or harvest time.. i have lost my interesting for your channel..
greetings from Greece.!!
It's always nice to see Jim working hard of course with a nice smile.
We had problems with the connection on the autosteer on our combine. It was interference from the antenna on the walkie. We moved the walkie antenna away, and now it runs perfectly.
I remember back in the 50s and early 60s when farmers shelled ear corn out of the cribs mice and rats were common to run up a farmers leg and jump out of the upper bib overhauls, it was quit a laugh when it happened, and the dogs were ready to give chase
If the plant wants corn bad negotiate a drying discount and haul straight off the combine.
Glad your corn is doing well. Was worried about your drought and then all the down corn you got.
When Dad says let go, it's time to jump.
Take care.
