I grew up working on a farm until about 14 when my parents moved off the farm into the city. Your videos fill me with so much nostalgia. I miss that life every day
And the Oscar goes to Zac Johnson for best you tube Farming Vidoe. I have where some have had to contract there editing. Please thank Mrs. Johnson for keeping everything you do in the family. I know it's more than we know how much it takes for you and Your family to do this specially you. We just love what you do. Your fan's comments are icing on the cake. Back to future comments, or you and Your son racing the zero turns. I just started watching the History Channel Farming. Interesting so far. Never realize how much is on the line each spring or contract you sign. Will be praying for you and Your family all this year. Thanks George Deltaville, Va
Not to get all sappy but my grandfather used to tell me his machines were practically family. If ya think about it he's right. You spend thousands of long hours, go through hell and high water with the machine and a good one always has your back.
From an old retired farmer in Kansas. Every time a battery discharges, even if it will start the engine, it puts lead sulfate on the plates in the battery and gets worse with time. I agree with the small trickle idea. Mounted solid with a cutout switch to where all you have to do is unplug a cord should prolong the life of a lot of batteries. Love your videos and style. I believe you are educating an enormous amount of people.
I got my shop all cleaned up last week brother your emotional song had me rolling in tears but ok bye bye so much for that you my freind have some awesome machines glad to see you back
*I like your rational about dealing with dead batteries, Zack, and your Mirthful Irreverence explaining it all to us with your sly aggravation (ha!) . . . sounds like they way i would wind up doing things for the same reasons as you. Still, it is useful to remember that some of us out here don't have much to keep ourselves busy with so we try to be helpful for our own self esteem, groan.*
it probably won't survive a 24v upgrade, the new powerwheels(and their knockoffs) are using cheaper parts that don't survive more power. Better off getting a better ride-on, like something from bigtoysgreencountry. get 24v to start, or get a 36v upgrade from them...
I know it’s hard to let them go Zach (offers shoulder) I’m sure she’s going to a good home where she’ll be loved and have many other green friends to play with. Turn that frown upside down my farmer friend planting season is on the horizon and know in your heart you made the right decision to let her go.
Hi Zach, love that John Deere power. Sorry to see the JD combine go. I'm excited for you in getting the Spring work in. Best of luck and stay dry in those new boots! - Dean from Edina
I would like to see you video the process of machinery cleaning. You must spend considerable time cleaning the machines before to store them long term. I am impressed with the clean state of all your machinery.
Remember that scene at the end of Back To The Future when Doc Brown was trying to hook up all those wire to the clock tower... that looked like you with the battery charger. Haha. By the way, that memory lane montage with the combine was pretty awesome. Looking forward to more videos.
The 9650 looks very healthy and very clean, proving that taking care of equipment is almost as important of an investment as the equipment itself. I am sure that comes in handy when the time comes that you want to upgrade the fleet.
Nice shop , real clean in case of fire, I wouldn't take batteries. A loose, I like disconnects, but no matter you will have trouble. Enjoy your videos.
We had an s680 that we had just replaced the 2 MASSIVE batteries. I go to start it for the next harvest 2 months later and batteries are dead. After the battery charger was on them for an hour I saw the service lights were on. After I investigated I saw where a RACCOON had climbed up to get into the engine area and hit the service light switch. The year before a raccoon was inside the engine when I started it and it completely destroyed the cooling fan 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. Needless to say I hate raccoons.
When we started up our machine last year and turned everything on we found out a raccoon had somehow got lodged at the bottom of the clean grain elevator and had lots of fun spending the afternoon pulling fur and guts out.
ZACH, I am very impressed with the cleanliness of your equipment and your shops but have noticed your occasional use of a push broom when cleaning shop floors. I have several west-facing aircraft hangars (dust magnets due to the westerly Wyoming winds) and clean their floors with a large old Craftsman wheeled shop vac with a hard floor cleaning tool to minimize the dust generation. It works very well and I have no trouble seeing the areas still needing cleaning. My wife and I very much enjoy your channel and are amazed at the technological aspects of today's farming. Thank you for sharing!
I love your choice of music!! I love Chase Rice's newish song, "Eyes On You". Right when I heard it i instantly fell in love with it. Also, love the video's all the great equipment. Keep up the good work!!🤘
Batteries die in cold climates. We deal with the exact same problem it's easy to keep a battery charged when the temp never drops below freezing but in the negatives batteries can die over night.
@Saxamusprime ya we've stored them over night. In shops and still had issues negative thirty is tough on equipment. Them big diesel motors are cold blooded
Lots of battery comments. We use tenders on equipment that sits for long periods only. Does extend battery life. Also like and use a jump box. Also carry heavy jumpers in the pickups and service truck. Service truck has a generator and carries a battery charger and of course there is a battery charger in the shop. Just use what works best at the time.😉
About the cheapest thing is clean the battery tops before storing and there are some terminal sprays to reduce corrosion. Dirt and moisture on the top can create a small draw. Ready for some more vids!
Hello Zach, I love your channel channel & way you do what you do on the farm. Oh, say hello to your dad for us okay? Sad to see that one machine going bye-bye to be replaced at a later time. Even though it's just a machine, seems like it served you very well since 2012. Now, it will serve someone else's needs in your community. If the person that bought it is close by, you can always drop by and say hello to the machine bring some corn and soybeans to feed it and don't forget to pet it and give happy words over its next lifestyle. Silly huh, not really... A Legacy you've passed on to someone else.
Hey! That seal you found on the ground is a dust seal that goes on either the output shaft for the drive or pto on the 9560RT, not a big deal! More cost than it's worth to have a new one installed! Looking forward to a great planting season for you guys!
It's always hard to get rid of a piece of equipment but it is harder when you bought it new and was the first one to fart in the seat lol. Sometimes you have to get rid of the old to get new down the road. Good luck on planting season
Those are nice Boots, when I was a Firefighter I had a pair of Danner Acadia's and they were awesome for what they were used for.Carry outs off hiking trails, occasional Brush/Woods fires.Prior those I had a pair of Bates, these were leaps and bounds ahead of the Bates.Awesome Vid,not much longer for some tillage.
You know what I do when I find a seal on the ground. I leave it there. Cause usually there is no way I will ever find what it goes to until I'm inevitably using the machine and it breaks.
Hang some retractable extension spools from the rafters and get yourself some battery tenders. 90% of the time you go to start something you have issues. Your batteries will last much longer with “battery tenders”. Contact Battery Tender, I’m sure they’ll send you some!! They sent me one and I’m just a tiny channel. Keep on tractoring!!!
Build quick connects and disconnects into the main positive wire to keep the batteries good while also not making a ton of work for yourself. Its a little more work up front but will pay off when it comes to jumping, and having batteries go bad from it.
The ag shop worked for had a old airport tug with a massive marine battery on one side and a big jumper cable. Worked out pretty well we had a separate alternator for the marine battery and old airport tugs have a thumb twist bolt for the throttle to set high throttle. Worked great too because they have hydraulics so we could operate some implements raising and lowering cutters and rippers.
On the battery's, Move south where the weather is warmer. LOL Then cold starts are not an issue. But we do have a cold front in West Tn today. Yes its only 79 degrees today. Upper 90's last week.
Looked more like a sheet metal grommet since It was green. It was likely keeping some wires or a hose from rubbing on a through hole edge. Didn't know the it had to be capitalized. Thank you spell check. Learn something new every day!
Go to your NAPA. Part numbers 4501. You can mount those battery maintainers for every piece of equipment you want and leave them on. Just plug them in when you park it wherever that may be. They are inexpensive and on sale right now. It will save you boat loads of time and you don't have to remove them for each use
To each their own you are right......but on the other hand..... I have two original batteries in a 2004 5.9 cummins. still starting..... Ctek chargers have been hook up when equipment left for over three days. They are hard wired in when equipment purchased two seconds to re & re. They have saved me a lot of money and time on batteries. thanks for your time.
For quicker starts you could make a jump pack.. we have one at work old battery box welded to a dolly, 4 batteries, momentary switch, a disconnect switch going to the leads, and a tender mounted to it.. wired to 24 volts.. it’ll start a completely dead semi in a couple seconds
Awesome video as always. Planting season is just around the corner. We are getting our equipment ready as well. But on the down side it snowed like crazy here today. Good old Western New York
Didn't see any comment but the seal you found is a V-ring seal that seals the dust out of the lip seal in front of it. All 8 series JD tractors use one at the transmission input seal.
While I may not be a farmer, John Deere has a special place in my heart. My father was a civil engineer and helped the local Deere dealer in Houston to design and build a new garage. Not only did he get paid well, but they threw in so many other things, like die-cast models, beer cozies, and I got my first ride on all metal, pedal powered John Deere tractor with tipper trailer. God I miss those days. Though here is one thing I would like to see: Real farmer plays, Farming Simulator 19.
a buddy and i where down southern wisc the other day pulled in to a couple dealer lots never before did i see so much late model equipment sitting around, must be alot of returns cumming in.
im sorry that that happened my girlfriend grandma did on that same day 3 days ago and yea give her prayers there's things in life we have to go throw I'll pray for u 🙏I hope u feel better and remember when life is sad god is good
Cat is a great addition to the channel. "Oh sorry, were you thinking about using this header? This is my bed now. You are dismissed; go back to cleaning the shop."
We just bought a S690. Went through the same thing getting rid of our old one. Just kept telling myself she is gonna be more appreciated where she is going lol
I still recon an Anderson plug mounted under the steps to the batts for your charger would save you so much time. Cheaper than disconnects and trickle chargers. Boots are nice though.

Thank you George!
9:58-10:36 LOL 😂!!!!!! On the contrary with me, I’ve always been happy when a combine goes on down the road, that usually means we’ve upgraded!
I like the dry scarstic sense of humor..we need more in this life. And great family
Not to get all sappy but my grandfather used to tell me his machines were practically family. If ya think about it he's right. You spend thousands of long hours, go through hell and high water with the machine and a good one always has your back.

I got my shop all cleaned up last week brother your emotional song had me rolling in tears but ok bye bye so much for that you my freind have some awesome machines glad to see you back
Fun video. Saying goodbye to the JD combine brought a tear to my eye. Can’t wait to see Spring planting!
So many fun toys. Sure do miss farming. Love all your green machines.
The engine sound of the 9050 is awesome. I love these combines 😍. Pure power. Who else is adicted to dark an evil enginesound?
Me! I also love the sound of the 9 liter engine in the 70 series.
God bless you and all of our farmers here in the USA .
You know your from Minn. when your wife is running around in 40 deg. weather in flip-flops.......True Northern gal right there............
Or..... did Zach take his new boots off??🤣
@Les Brown i live in South Dakota and i'll be in jeans and a t-shrit till 10-20 below F. even then i only put on a light jacket. XD
In the northern part of mn, where im from, people wear shorts and a t shirt in 35 degrees lmao
My wife's from south Carolina and wears sandals year round... In Notheast Wyoming
pout
I love watching your videos. You have the best sense of humor while still working hard.
I love you videos Zach.I can't wait until planting get started so you can pump out them videos.I love your family so beautiful.Keep it up man.

@@chubbysumo2230 I wanna say Linus Tech Tips did a 36v DIY Lithium Ion battery upgrade to his kids powerwheels awhile back
Drop the little snowmobile engine in it.
Your right
Ya she is a bit down in power alright
I know it’s hard to let them go Zach (offers shoulder) I’m sure she’s going to a good home where she’ll be loved and have many other green friends to play with. I agree with you're battery problem and you have the best answer, I have run heavy equipment over 40 years.
Since John Deere purchased Hagie, would you ever see yourself buying a Hagie sprayer in the future?
😲👍😂⏫⏫
The 9650 looks very healthy and very clean, proving that taking care of equipment is almost as important of an investment as the equipment itself. I am sure that comes in handy when the time comes that you want to upgrade the fleet.

Yeah, can't imagine trying to keep dozens of batteries in all of that machinery charged up with Minnesota winter's.
Lots of battery comments. We use tenders on equipment that sits for long periods only. Does extend battery life. Also like and use a jump box. Just an hour or two on the battery charger! No problem! Nothin’ to it! 😂
Yet... yet! The trickle charger takes too long.. 🤔
Anyone else catch the miller case at 0:44 ? xD
Love seeing more videos, can’t wait for spring planting!!!!
Good eye didn't see it until I slowed it down
I thought I saw something so rewinded the video and sure enough. Can't expect anything less from Zach.
Thank for the video!!!!
Fantastic video!!!!

Why am I watching you clean your shop when I should be cleaning my shop?
Oh god I can relate
I should be asleep in Australia Will have to get you into a pair of Aussi Rossi boots they fit like second skin
well at least you can say "i saw a nicely cleaned shop today" before you go to bed.
Same
Procrastination is key.
It's always hard to get rid of a piece of equipment but it is harder when you bought it new and was the first one to fart in the seat lol. Sometimes you have to get rid of the old to get new down the road. Good luck on planting season
That combine didn't crank because it knew its fate. I'm telling ya Zach machines just know.
Les Brown yep
Oh Dear ! um Deere.
🤗😚🚜🤝💔😢
I have know idea what you just said
You mean good riddance don't cha
Cole would be proud of you for cleaning up your shop
As I’ve heard said before, “You do you.” Love the videos!

It wouldnt be a MN millennial farmer video without the battery charger
After a winter of sitting im just happy when the starter goes click then i know gotta fighting chance to get going with a charger
You should put the battery charger on a backpack frame. Always ready.
If you have a trolley you can get it when you want to
Build quick connects and disconnects into the main positive wire to keep the batteries good while also not making a ton of work for yourself. Its a little more work up front but will pay off when it comes to jumping, and having batteries go bad from it.
How about a rollaway cart for your battery charger...✌God bless stay safe🚜🇺🇸🚜
what about the dirt lot he needs to go through? It looks small enough he can carry it.
Playing with all them toys is always a good time.
I was waiting for you to do something with that case of miller lite hahaha
The ag shop worked for had a old airport tug with a massive marine battery on one side and a big jumper cable. Where do we send flowers to? So sorry for your loss, and you can never replace the old green girl.
The family is asking that you don't send flowers at this time please.
I feel like you are setting up to be in a shoe shine video. haha

You need to get solar powered battery tenders. They are life savers

Borderline she’d a tear during the last drive montage. Then realized we were both fine 😂😂😂
What a friggin tear jerker ! I hate getting rid of equipment, (some) equipment
I’m pretty sure my dad actually did cry when he had to drive his combine to the dealer because he sold it 😂😂😂
What if…
Your mom and dad say
Go to sleep🥱
You say: nahhhh I am partying here if you want to sleep go then *dab*😎
Why’d he sell it.
9650 your time here was short and we shall miss you.... But go now! SPREAD YOUR ROTORS AND FLY!
Ur videos r great im 13 and i wanna be a farmer so thats why im in to ur videos and i always will be i all ready sub to u and throw a like at u ☺
That much Green all under one roof is a thing of pure beauty.👍🏻👍🏻
I just started whatching but I have a question do you do this for a business or is this just your farm
I think it's for his living mate.
For quicker starts you could make a jump pack.. we have one at work old battery box welded to a dolly, 4 batteries, momentary switch, a disconnect switch going to the leads, and a tender mounted to it.. wired to 24 volts.. it’ll start a completely dead semi in a couple seconds
"Tractors are boring." WHAT!!!
Awesome video as always. Planting season is just around the corner. We are getting our equipment ready as well. But on the down side it snowed like crazy here today. Good old Western New York
Weird, we also had an injector problem on our 9650 last fall 🤔🤔
Didn't see any comment but the seal you found is a V-ring seal that seals the dust out of the lip seal in front of it. All 8 series JD tractors use one at the transmission input seal.
woof, you have a lot of newer JD equipment laying around, lottery win?
While I may not be a farmer, John Deere has a special place in my heart. My father was a civil engineer and helped the local Deere dealer in Houston to design and build a new garage. Not only did he get paid well, but they threw in so many other things, like die-cast models, beer cozies, and I got my first ride on all metal, pedal powered John Deere tractor with tipper trailer. U have millions in machinery
a buddy and i where down southern wisc the other day pulled in to a couple dealer lots never before did i see so much late model equipment sitting around, must be alot of returns cumming in.
You need a NOCO Boost Pro, hook her up and it'll start a semi if it's not stone dead
*press F to pay respect 9650 it was a great green machine*
Before you upload this on April 3 we had to put our dog down and it was sooo hard and I miss her 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 be can you give me a shoutout plz

That combine loves you so much it didn't want to leave, so therefore it didn't start
At 4:04 I think I saw a few liberal tears
Bruh I cant 😂
The cold start from the 9870STS was heavenly

Handsome new puppy addition to your crew. lots of toys You’ve got
RIP JOHNDEERE 9650 STS we will never forget you and you will be missed
Cat is a great addition to the channel. "Oh sorry, were you thinking about using this header? This is my bed now. You are dismissed; go back to cleaning the shop."
Farmers making America a better place one plant at a time.
Thanks for reminding me that what can go wrong, will go wrong! The episode with the extention cord, was classic!! LOL!!
We just bought a S690. Went through the same thing getting rid of our old one. Just kept telling myself she is gonna be more appreciated where she is going lol
I'm glad even the new combines smoke when cold.
The end of the video was too funny with the shoes in the back of your truck! Lol
I love your videos your videos are the best videos I have ever watched and I'm going to start watching you for the rest of the time I'm alive
Wow that's one quiet skidsteer....wish mine was that quiey
I don't sell machines ! My Oliver with a hand clutch is the work dog of everything ! Want to move something Ollie is my go to !
I still recon an Anderson plug mounted under the steps to the batts for your charger would save you so much time. Cheaper than disconnects and trickle chargers. Boots are nice though.
Love your daughter trying to get out of the mud as if she was stuck in a big truck or some thing
