Hey, apologies for the ridiculous audio quality! I have one of those pop protectors now after this video, and I'll definitely have my set up so my voice won't continuously fluctuate in volume anymore.... I plan to do better in the future! In the mean time, thanks for your patience and support! the next videos I make will be far shorter asdfghjkl;
2 things. 1) The ending to the 1000 Year Blood War Arc was rushed except for most of the individual outcomes. Kubo already had most of those planned. It was rushed due to 2 factors. 1st Being Kubo's deteriorating health condition, and 2nd being Jump rushing to finish Bleach because of it's steady/overall decline. 2) You do know that Kaien is technically Ichigo's uncle. In the Blood War Arc flashback it is revealed that Isshin's sir name is Shiba, and that he and Kaien were cousins. He dropped the Shiba name when he married Misaki. So Ichigo is technically a Shiba and Kaien is his uncle. Just 2 things I wanted to point out. And while I am an IchiRuki shipper I never compared any of them to other characters and only care about their relationship/interactions.
@@Kingmegadon This girl should know that Renji never tried to kill Rukia, why would Renji be mad that Rukia was going to be executed if he wanted to kill her? That makes no freaking sense!
@@christianwarner8779 I never mentioned anything about Renji being mad or trying to kill Rukia. I just mentioned that yes 1000 year blood war was rushed and that Ichigo is related to Kaien Shiba. I never mention Renji anywhere.
Rukia will always be my fav, not for the shipping but because her personality was so different from a lot of main girls in shonen and honestly? it still is. Ichigo and her both treat each other like close friends without any weird romantic tension. Like u never see a male protagonist who is generally best friends with a girl unless it becomes romantic. Would they have been a good couple? Probably. But they also make S rank BROTP.
I do ship ichiruki for the exact same reason. Main girls In anime just don't give me the feeling to ship them that is why I always go for the other shipping
13 year old me shipped Rukia and Ichigo so haaard, I remember being extremelly surprised when I found out that they never ended up together in the end.
I'm sorry but the fact that twice in the series Rukia gives Ichigo his soul reaper powers and both times they were powerful moments. Rukia is the first character you see in the series it seemed like she was always going to be in Ichigo's life.
If I had a relationship with a girl that was anywhere near to being as complementary and meaningful as Ichigo's relationship to Rukia's, you best believe I would marry her in a heartbeat.
I preferred Ichiruki but if I had a say in this, Ichigo wouldn't have gotten with either of them. Instead, I'd give Tatsuki more time to shine and have her be the one Ichigo ends up with.
I remember when i liked ichihime when i was 14, but know i'm fully ichiruki and ishihime because they complement eachother better that way. It's like ishida notice Orihime more and is more aware of her feelings, and Orihime care for him too, but we know that she just see him as a friend. With ichigo i felt that he didn't liked Orihime the same way he did Rukia, but my main reason to think he is in love with Rukia is mostly because he seems really depress when she's not around, and because she is the one that gets him going; with Rukia is the same, but i thjnk she doesn't want to act on her feelings because ichigo is human and he should get with a human girl.
Really great points!! Thanks for the thorough video I'm convinced something happened to kubo and his relationship with his manga that made him unmotivated with the ending
Actually No, Kubo stated he ended the manga how he wanted to, the only things kubo couldn't put in was just fleshing out some characters, concepts and plotlines which was due to his health problems and so he made a deal with the author of cant fear your own world a year before the end of the manga just to put his ideas he didn't have enough time to put in the original run of the manga to be put in the light novels
Am i really going to sit down for two and a half hour going over all the shipping interactions in this manga? Well shit... i don't really have anything better to do... Also, i actually liked Tatsuki more than Orihime xD
Ichihime might've had more screen time, but each interaction between Ichigo and Rukia was so much more impactful. IchiRuki will always be my favorite. I really liked the friendship and banter between Ichigo and Rukia, and I would've been fine if they just stayed friends at the end of the manga. What really made me annoyed was, like you said, Kubo forcing IchiHime for the sake of having children for the next generation.
Reading manga will definitely help to understand the characters more. Rukia screen time or story progression kinda stopped after SS arc. She came back in the mid arrancar arc and did help ichigo however the focus clearly shifted compared to her role in SS arc. She barely have conversation with the MC in HM arc and fake karakura town. Appears only towards the end in the xcution arc and shared a handful of screen time only in TYBW arc. So basically all the chemistry dynamics you guys mentioned occurs only in the pre soul society arc and some parts of arrancar arc. And please don't use filler arcs to validate your argument. Compared to that orihime had more development throughout the series. Hence her pairing made more sense than rukia.
@@pradeepram6741 one sided romance, or Ichigo "my name means protector" Kurosaki being PROTECTIVE over the weakest, most innocent, and most naive of his friends just doesn't count. Especially since he promised her dead brother to protect her in his place, but that doesn't mean he has to marry her too do it.
@@pradeepram6741 Of course Rukia stopped being relevant and interacting with Ichigo post Soul Society Arc, how else was Kubo gonna make Orihime seem like the girl that "made sense" other than basically getting rid of the girl that actually MADE SENSE??? Like did you even stop to THINK about what you just said?
7:21 idk the fact that she wanted to be the ‘RAIN’ to Ichigo but all Ichigo and Zangetsu wanted was the rain to go away and Rukia did that for Ichigo .. it’s so telling
Rain is metaphorical for ichigo's sadness, his world is flooded when he feels betrayed by zangetsu or when he trains in the dangai he feels lost and has no idea how he could possibly stop Aizen after barely beating ulquirro (technically losing). But for orihime her rain is just saying she wants to be closer to others, makes sense knowing she lives by herself and only has her friends. Ask yourself is the poem seriously trying to imply that orihime wants to give ichigo depression? Why would Kubo write that???
@@aayushattri3238Obviously they didn't say that. I can't think of why you would assume such nonsense. They were saying that in the metaphorical and thematic language of the story, rain represents two opposing things for the two characters, as you said, closeness and despair. In that way, even if the meanings can't be transposed from one character to the other, the two characters are separated, as they have a fundamental divide in worldview and mentality, represented by their differing associations to the rain. Orihime wishes for a rain that could never reach Ichigo, because to him, rain is a terrible thing. This whole thing is metatextual, the characters don't discuss it that I remember and therefore it's obvious that this separation is not intentional on the part of the characters. But it is a thematic tool that can be used to read their relationship as one of tragedy and distance, which is what the story seems to suggest their dynamic to be up until the end (the whole tragic one sided love thing). So yes, given this (and SO much more) the ending (and not just the pairings) seems odd and not very well thought out
@@michi4066 I can understand how you see that but the characters change over time? Like if kubo wasnt rushed he couldve shown a more organic growth in the manga ofc ichigo grew feelings over time its not like their relationship was tragic for the entirety of the series up until the last chapter. Though their relationship is rushed at the end, it isnt out of nowhere; its just people misunderstood, or rather kubo misunderstood how character relations were viewed. I mean the source of this problem is that ichigo just straight up never showed a want for anyone be it rukia or orihime, outside of some fanservice he seems ace showing no desire to love. Ive said this once before on another vid but people see ichigos desire to protect as a desire of love. He protects everyone around him, and cares deeply for them and people projected their emotions on him. Its not wrong its just kubo doesnt see it that way, he explicitly showed us what he thinks love is with orihime, who has an obvious affection. If kubo made it obvious he had feelings from the start ichiruki debates wouldnt exist. But he just lets orihime do all the lifting when it comes to their relationship so it is easy to pair ichigo with someone because he is malleable like that. Kubo doesnt see ichiruki at all because he never intended on it. Im not saying Kubo cant make mistakes im saying he didnt realize what viewers would think of ichigo being so close to rukia all the time. To him its platonic as i said before because ichigo wants to protect friends. Like i dont see anybody shipping ichigo and chad or ichigo and uryu just cause ichigo cares deeply about them.
@@aayushattri3238 Sure they can, they just don't do so enough in the actual text we have available, so I don't know what to tell you. I mostly agree with you about everything you said, although the Ichiruki vibes not being intentional is not something I can buy, specially considering the first arc is full of characters assuming they're together and asking them directly and Orihime is explicitly jealous of their connection, so... Yeah, no. Was it endgame? Probably not. Was it a complete accident? I don't think so either. I'd love to know what the hell is going on in Kubo's head at any given time because that ending was something else. And honestly, it's true that Ichigo never shows any romantic interest towards anybody (but then again noone else does besides Orihime and other characters get paired up anyways, so I don't think explicit declarations are needed for us to be able to evaluate the characters' dynamics), but if even the manga itself paints Ichigo and Rukia's connection as particularly special and meaningful (even Orihime agrees on that one) I can't really go with the whole "Ichigo is a neutral actor and both relationships are equally viable" argument. There are moments for Orihime, but it's mostly because she has a very vocal one sided attraction to him. I'm not saying that's bad or that a relationship can't start out that way, but if it was intended to be the endgame pairing for Ichigo from the beginning Kubo did a really bad job convincing anyone that Ichigo doesn't just see her as a friend. And a friend he often ignores and doesn't see as an equal, at that. He kinda tried to reverse that at the end, but given the facts of Orihime's power level and overall competence in combat it makes no sense and feels like an ass pull. I like Orihime, and I wouldn't mind her ending up with Ichigo, but it just isn't written well enough for it to be believable for me. Maybe in an alternate universe, but as things are right now they'll never stop feeling like a tragic distant pairing to me
@@michi4066 you are completely and utterly disconnected with reality is eithet that or you havent read the manga at all, orihime never felt jealous of ichigo and rukias connection, she felt insecure that she wasnt helping ichigo at all but as matsumoto told her ichigo needs her as much as he needs everyone else, no kubo didnt failed at that cause since the arrancar arc you could clearly see how things were gonna end with this characters, and yes ichigo did saw her as a friend but thats the thing she grew to see her more than that thanks to the development this two had and help given to each other to be better, what? Ichigo never has ignored orihime why do you lie? Stop making up a false narrative and the point of ichigo not seeing her as an equal was a thing that was part of ichigos character always he never wanted help from them cause he didnt wanted help it was not just orihime, Orihime was called to hsve the powers of a god by aizen and juha bach and you thinking that she is able to protect ichigo from the attacks of the most powerful being in bleach is an asspull and makes no sense? You dont know what an asspull is at all and it did made sense she is a support after all. Believe me is written well enough for people who actually paid attention to the series and used logic not in a alternate universe, in this reality, dont worry they are a happy close pariring in reality, your view wont ever change that fact
The issue is simple: A. It's not believable that orihime and renji would like ichigo and rukia based on their words and actions, but ichigo and rukia wouldn't consider each other more than friends B. Even if they don't end up together, ichigo and rukia's relationship is the one we as the reader are supposed to care about the most. Ending the last panel with them two, and then having their kids meet like how they met for the first time, and also slapping them on the final cover to cap off the series shows this. But it's awful, especially since they only spoke once in the final arc. All investment, no payoff.
This became a problem because Kubo didn't put any real focus on romance except Orihime's obvious feelings for Ichigo. It's the same problem Mashima Hiro is having in Fairy Tail, trying to pair Natsu and Lucy together. Natsu never showed any interest in romance during the first series. Other characters were perfectly paired up because their relationships developed over time, and they showed interest in romance in general. Not Natsu though, so getting that pairing together is proving a difficult task.
Mate U do realise the manga u mentioned doesn't involve romance right. Yet many people such as yourselves demand romance screentime which isnt the show is about. You can actually watch a romance show and ship the characters yet you people choose shows like bleach and complain there isn't enough romance and literally lecture the author how to write romance. Learn to differentiate between what is a romance show and what is not.
Natsu and Lucy had more chemistry than Orihime and Ichigo. The little details of their relation was enough for them to develop. Not to mention they both fought for each other and were each other's strength
The trust and chemistry between rukia and ichigo is undeniable. The final chapter just feels like a cop out that pairs up the protagonist with the hot gullible girl.
yeah no the trust and chemistry between ichigo and orihime is undeniable as well, no it doesnt feel like that at all but only shows you dont know what a platonic relationship is.
I think people were angry because not that ichihime was canon, but kubo literally straightbaited ichiruki. At the end kubo did say that orihime was the heroine of bleach which confused me and a lot of fans. Like there is so much memorable and cover pages between ichigo and rukia. So it feels like a lot od people felt duped.
I doubt you can say that if you read the manga by heart. It's not that hard to see how Kubo had already set Ichigo and Orihime from the beginning. The fact that he said he didn't intend for it to be a romance but still he wrote Orihime that way just shows he planned it all since the beginning (you can even see a hint of this in the pilot chapter). The ones who got baited are the "anime-only" viewers, and that's due to the anime studio banking on the 'popular ship,' prompting them to invent Ichiruki scenes for fan service.
@@Azrielle7 @Yuuki Cross I have read the manga by heart and I don't see any IH from the beginning. It was all from Inoue's side and nothing romantic from Ichigo. Just because Inoue was like Hinata from Naruto who loves the hero from the start so we need to see that IH will canon? No and no. Yes IR was nothing romantic too but we see that there was much more better and deeper connection between Ichigo and Rukia. IHs keeps saying people ship IR so much because the studio adds many IR filler scenes, but plz, there are tons of IRs don't watch anime at all (like me). If you all say that Kubo planned IH from the beginning and never thought once about IR, then wtf was that all "sun and moon, king and queen, heart and spade, dried the rain away, keep up with the world" thing? He implied Ichigo as K card and Rukia as Q card, and what is the relationship between king and queen? Friend only then? And the person who changed your life, who dried your sorrow away, who can raise you up so easily with a few words while your future wife couldn't? How do you call that person again? Friend? Pure, platonic friendship right? Yeah, absolutely agreed. That's the reason why we hate Kubo for the ending. I can accept IH and RR. I can even except that suddenly Inoue got so much screentime in the last arc and Rukia's was cut so Inoue got to be the heroine of the series and stand besides Sakura, Nami on Jump cover. And plz don't say Kubo didn't. Urahara, one of the masterminds, said "I leave it to you, Kurosaki, Kuchiki", and the Kuchiki here is definitely not Byakuya. Yet who the fck stand alongside Ichigo near and in the end? Inoue, Aizen and Renji. That is a fcking troll from Kubo. But it's alright. Rukia is the main character besides Ichigo anyway, so doesn't matter if Inoue is the heroine. But still, I hate him for drawing so. I don't see any hint between Ichigo and Inoue that can be considered seriously, but I respect if IHs see that way. That's fine, but IHs plz stop saying those "if you read the manga then you will see IH" and "IRs got baited by studio". Those sucks and sound insulting to us like we IRs don't read manga at all. We did read and we just don't see IH, ok? Anyway, still now in 2021 IR has the biggest shipdom in Bleach and still the most popular. Cheers up IRs 🎉🎉
@@Azrielle7 I read the manga, and the only way people would guess ichihime is because it's shounen manga and Orihime was the only person in it to explicitly state they liked the main character . Other than that, if someone thought ichihime was always going to be canon because they read the manga, I'll doubt they read it correctly themselves. Btw, no hate if ship ichihime but there's no development for it. It's literally a one-sided relationship. I would be a bit tipped-off if I was a fan of the ship.
I'm grabbing some snack too. But I'm just gonna watch from distance. Because I don't ship either IchiRuki or Ichihime. I have different ships about who Ichigo end up with🍷
I’m a neutral party here. I didn’t really care who Ichigo ended up with, but for some reason I find the warring comments to be rather amusing. Perhaps it’s the sheer passion behind the characters? Idk. But for some reason these types of things makes me pop some popcorn and just enjoy witnessing the drama. 😂😂
Actually kaien is ichigo's relative, ichigo's dad is from the same Shiba clan as kaien. Which would make ichigo and kaien like distant cousins or something.
She saying that Kaien isn't related to Rukia, not that Kaien isn't related to Ichigo. It's because some people say that Ichgio may like Orihime because she looks similar to his mom. The equivalent for Rukia would be if Kaien was her dead dad and she liked Ichigo because Ichigo looks like her dad. But Rukia isn't related to Kaien, guys like Kaien (ie Ichigo) is just Rukia's type.
Let’s be honest Tite Kubo is a great illustrator and can have great moments in writing, But he’s an illustrator first and a writer second Plus editors put tons of constraints on him, as well as the manga industry in general No matter who wins the ship war, it’s a rather hollow victory “Q: Speaking of Ichigo's relationships with his friends, there seems to be a love triangle between Ichigo, Rukia, and Orihime. Do you delve more into this in later volumes? Tite Kubo: (laughs) I get asked about that a lot! I don't want to make Bleach into a love story because there are much more exciting things about their personalities and things that they can do instead of getting into the romance aspect of their relationships.”
To be fair I don't blame it all on him as he had deadlines. And the anime kept catching up with the manga. I kinda wonder how Bleach would be if it got the same year long hiatus that shows like MHA get nowadays.
@@alphawolf7417 yeah, the industry is brutal But in the end, it would have been better on the manga and the workload if he was partnered with a writer Oh what could have been
@@shiawasekappukekiful hell we see some of the stuff he's made nowadays on Brave Souls. Imagine those new Espada 2nd Release forms. Or the new 6th anniversary Aizen in the anime. Seeing that new Aizen vs Mugetsu Ichigo would've been a feast for the eyes.
This video has definitely shed some light on why Ichihime became a thing, that being said, it also makes me understand why fans are upset about IchiRuki and/or Ishihime not being Endgame 😬
One big Hint Orihime is special for Ichigo, is that by the way Ichigo calls Orihime. Ichigo is is the type of guy who calls his friends and aquaintances by their "first name". The few peopel he calls by their surnames outside his friend circle are people who Ichigo feels he should speak in a more respectful manner like with Unohana. And Ichigo is implied to at least be close enough to Orihime before the start of the manga since he saiys by dialogue Orihime told him all about the history of the hairpins Sora gave her. Despite that Ichigo still calls her "Inoue", meanwhile Ichigo had never had problem immediately getting to first name name basis with his friends and female friends, even if said friend may find that rude specially with the Shinigami high ranking officers. In Ichigo's friend group Ichigo only address Orihime and Uryu by their surnames, He still calls Ishida by surname since they have the "frenemies" banter dynamics and with Orihime cause if you are knee deep into anime, you should probably be aware of in japanese language there are values and meaning you can derive with how you call a specific person. And if you had seen enough anime you will know that a dude being able to to call his crush by first name is a big step in a romance bonding achievement. Ichigo calls Rukia, Yoruichi, Rangiku no problem For Ichigo being able to call Orihime, Orihime is something special. Like he only ever class Orihime in the manga, Orihime when they got married. But again, this nuance are all lost in the manga localization and english dub of anime.
Bro u just contradicted yourself lol. Many people don't like ichihime for this same reason. You said it yourself. When japanese call someone by its first name it means implies that they are close. They crossed the boundaries of honorable suffix because they are more closer now. This clearly showm when ichigo adresses renji and toushirou . Renji even said to him at what point to stop calling him with his first name cause he did know him enough. Hell he even started to call Byakuya by his first name after his closure and redeemed relationship with rukia. He calls her inoue because when rukia asked him about orihime and if he know her, he replied that he didn't really, he know her brother though Sora Inoue. To me that explained why he called her like thar at first cuz she seemed unimportant to him at first and he just know her as tatsuki's friend. But GUESS WHAT ? He keeps calling her like that for the entirety of the series lol. You think maybe at some point he will start to call her name but noo. 😂
You dived deeply to it and unfortunately misinterpreted it. I mean you'd think maybe after the hueco muendo he would call her name butt noo. It's a bad presentation when you recall how it started from knowing her because of her brother. It's understand with uryuu because he has this frenemies bond with him . He could at least uswd suffix like he calls rangiku and yourouchi but he don't. I can hear inoue getting mad and saying to herself ' I don't wanna be inoue, I wanna be your kurosaki." Lol
@@اغغنننمم you did not get the point?. I am making the point that Ichigo refuses to call Orihime by her first name because he is being shy about it. That is a common pattern in anime where characters have a hard time calling their crush by their first name even though their "closeness" already progressed enough to get them to a first name basis. I established that Ichigo is a dude who can basically "immediately" start calling people he just met "in first name basis". Then I bring out the observation that "despite" Ichigo actually is friends with Orihime he don't really try to change how he calls Orihime. And I bring out other examplesehom Ichigo calls only by last name and they are either people older than him that Ichigo personally respects or don't feel comfortable in just calling them by a nickname or their first name. And we have other examples like Uryu who is in last name basis more so due to the frenemy dynamic. Orihime don't fit any of those category. From that at least we can say Ichigo treats her in a special way outside from his other friends. And I jump to the conclusion that special treatment is due to "romantic feelings" since the time Ichigo switched up how he calls her is when they became a couple. Do you get the point now?. Where did contradict my point?
@@Snzn_7 ichigo... and shy? What? If anything Ichigo is a tsundere person. He is an outspoken person on that too. Someone who isn't afraid to speak what he feels right or wrong. And if u really notice Ichigo start to call those ppl by their first name by the time they are close to one another or when they form a connection. Ex; Tatsuki (his bestfriend) , Renji, Rukia e.t.c. He didn't call renji by his name until they teamed up. Same for Byakuya. And no he don't call ppl by their surname or with suffix because they are older than him or something. Because that don't apply for hisagi who is clearly just as old as Renji and Rangiku whose was also around that Range. I know that they maybe a 150 years old or something but if we're talking in human range, they aren't that old. And the thing that rubs people the wrong way about it is that in the 3rd episode where he address her as a sister of someone he knows Inoue. He even said that they don't really talk and know each other. Naturally, the take would be him calling her by her last name is bland. And what faults ur point so much is that in the last chapter, we didn't see him call her by his first name. It would have felt special like you'd say but noo they didn't potray it. So yeah too many ppl that impression is still felt.
Rukia being turned into a side character in Thousand Year Blood War was so damn foul bro. Regardless of her relationship with Ichigo, treating your femc the way Kubo treated Rukia towards the end is an actual disservice. Especially when he tried to replace her role with many different characters in the final arc. Funnily enough despite all of that, Rukia still has better writing in her pinky finger than the entirity of Chad and Orihime combined and her relationship with Ichigo will always be a million times more meaningful than his forced romance with Orihime.
Uhhhh didn't Rukia always get her ass kicked or imprisoned until the final arc? Plus her relationship with Ichigo basically died after Soul Society Arc so yeah not really that much of a character.
@@alphawolf7417 You know at least Rukia had the decency to tell Ichigo that she doesn't want his protection and that she could take care of herself. Criticizing Rukia for being subjected to the same misogynistic cliché as Inoue is such a pathetic way to defend your ship. Women important to Ichigo are expected to be in constant danger only to be saved again and again. But It's one thing to cry on the ground begging the boy's unconscious body to save you and quite another to literally fight to the death and be saved by the boy, right? At the end of the day, even if you like Inoue, you can't deny that her entire character revolves around Ichigo. @@foxblack3632 In what way? Naruto and Hinata barely interacted through the whole series. If anything, the only ship that made any sense in Naruto was NaruSasu, considering that all Naruto can think about through the whole shippudden was Sasuke.
Nah, I've been a bleach and a naruto fan. Bleach's ichiruki fan ship is way worse thn any other fanship naruto fans wanted. So many people just cry about ichiruki so much.
Rukia was underused in the last arc. All they did was use her for promos but we barely saw her in the canon content itself. I'm conflicted because at least Kubo didn't humiliate her like he did to Orihime and Yoruichi ( their controls over own bodies - orihime's attire, yoruichi's consciousness - were taken over by Urahara and were put in embarrassing situations I found no humor in). Silver lining?
I ship Ichihime but even I can see that using physical comparisons between them and other characters is nonsensical. Kubo himself said that he used the same face not just for Orihime and Misaki, but also for Riruka and Bambietta not for any kind of theme (if that were the case Ichigo could have ended up with any of the other two and it would have made as much sense) but just because it was easier for him to draw.
I am APPALLED with the ending Rukia got- Not only was she shoved to the side despite having a better chance against Yhwach (thematically it also makes sense they would fight together even if shipping wasn't a thing) but she got with RENJI in the end...RENJI... WHAT A SICK JOKE!! I'm so proud of you for all the work you put into this video though- amazing job!!
the sick joke is you thinking rukia ending with the person she always loved is a sick joke, not to mention rukia wouldnt have stood a chance against juha bach you wanted her to die? also when in the series rukia and ichigo fought and antagonist together? please tell me
I never shipped either IchiRuki or IchiHime but I can see why IchiRuki is far more popular. Romances like IchiHime and NaruHina rely on female characters just becoming damsels in distress who can’t say or do anything not involving their crush. IchiRuki both as a potential couple and standalone characters have far more agency and depth.
As a die hard Ichiruki fan since I was a middle schooler, I would’ve accepted the ending if Tite Kubo wrote how the romance even blossomed between Ichihime. Even a freaking one chapter doing a quick recap of what happened the past couple of years would’ve been nice! With Ichiruki we at least get the emotional connection from the good to the bad while Ichihime is more like “ohh you are strong women…I respect/notice you now” (despite knowing each other since childhood 🙃) Really love your detailed input on this and while I admit defeat for my OTP, I just hope to god that Tite Kubo redeems himself in the writing so I can see how Ichihime works.
ichiruki was more of a sibling relationship the way they fight all the time that a sibling thing. you see he never fights with Orihime and is always gentle with her more of a romantic thing if you ask me lol.
@@nunya2662 well they never really said that rukia or ichigo had feelings for each other either. I mean at least this way we know one was in love with the other x.x I mean we also knew renji loved rukia too

@@Sam-qv8dq I careless about the IchiRuki build up. Ichigo’s the main character; he’s set for life. I just wanted something good for Ishida and I loved the uptight dork boy and lovable dork girl dynamic that Ishida and Orihime had.
One thing that piss me of about ichihime is pointed in minute 7:23. She wrote a poem about rain that connecting her heart with ichigo. And ichigo's opinion about rain... ... Even Zangetsu hates rain
As a fan of both Ichiruki and Ichihime who just recently finished the manga, I will admit that Ichihime and Renruki was easily the worst route Kubo could’ve took the major ships in Bleach. Ichihime looked incredibly one-sided to where I couldn’t really see Ichigo really be with her in a romantic sense. Everytime in the manga I could always see that Orihime was crushing on Ichigo and well Kubo didn’t make any attempts to get Ichigo more drawn in to Orihime instead he like the rest of his main cast, made Orihime a close friend. Ichiruki is the same way but a bit more closer, plus as you’ve said in the video Rukia, Juushiro, and Byakuya have explicitly said that Ichigo’s reminded of the man Rukia loved, thus you can argue that Rukia in early Bleach had feeling for Ichigo but we’re putting them down cause of her role as a Shinigami. But then yeah Aranncar really flopped the story arc around and hell didn’t make Orihime that much of a player after she was rescue. And while I love Fullbring (and consider it to be my favorite arc in Bleach) Orihime didn’t really do anything for Ichigo but instead it was Rukia that motivated him. TYBW really didn’t help either ship at all, but the fact that Kubo sidelined both women in the final climax of the fight against Yhwach was just really disappointing for me to read and well these ship wars over 7+ years later continue to happen all cause Kubo tucked up in the ship writing department
Are u dumb ??? Rukia never loved kaien ...lmao kaien already had wife and she died ...rukia admired kaien as a senior....byakuya and jushiro saying ichigo look like kaien was foreshadowing of ichigo being shiba and his heritage ... 2. Rukia and ichigo had no scenes in manga ...all of their scenes are fillers ... Ex : rooftop scene, ice skating scene, fireworks scene Rukia was barely on screen with ichigo entire arrancar saga which was 250 + chapters long barely means 1 pr 2 chapters 2. Rukia was never on same panel with ichigo entire tybw arc which was 200 + chapters long .... 3. Ichigo and orihime had much more development in manga ..in tybw ichigo admired her beauty and strength...and was personally the only female ichigo felt attractive too .... In novel we do knot always love u ichigo himself proposed orihime ... And in fullbring arc ...the arc was supppsed to be soft reboot of series just how rukia gave ichigo his powers for first time ...
Let's be honest, the series should have ended with IchiRuki (Ichigo should have died, that could solve some problems) and Orihime should have ended up with Ishida, those two really had chemistry, Orihime only had an OBSESSION with Ichigo, that's not love guys, instead, Ichigo and Rukia felt actual love for each other, they make themselves and each other better and complement each other, besides, those two are totally complementaries, and nobody can deny that!
LMAO Lets be honest the series os fine with ending with ichihime, orihime and isshida make absolutely not a single sense, honey go to google and research obsession because orihime was in love with him and thats a big difference, it is love guys, ichigo and rukia loved each other? where? sent me the panel or the moment any of them thought that about each other? lol no no one can deny that because its truth, but hon the same can be said about renji and orihime lol
@@carloskingdomh if you don't read the manga it's not my fault, and either if you are obsessed with Orihime 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I'm not your mother/teacher to explain you how text comprehension and subtext works, and Renji should have been alone
@@zoazede2098 Hon i have read the manga, unlike you or you have but with your own feet, i like rukia more, and renji should be alone? says who? a toxic shipper? please
terrarion aqu there was clear ichiruki bias because it’s definitely the better of the two, but orihime is not as bad or toxic as she makes her out to be
Ichiruki is the most beautiful and most developed couple in shonen. They both are incredibly strong and talented individuals which is why I'll never forget them. Take this from someone who was a non-shipper . [Imo ih is the worst "ship" to ever exist]
I am an ichihime but i am not biased enough to say ichigo was being romantic to anyone for that matter (during the run of the series) because he had more internalized emotional issues to work out + rangiku actually told orihime that he's a silly boy that doesn't understand romantic love yet. I just felt theres more stuffs ichigo exclusively does for orihime like offering to walk her home, telling shinji to apologize to her, exclusively made a vow to protect her, bothered when shes scared of his mask, felt at peace once she encouraged him to actually care for himself and not to put the burden all to himself, coming from the dead hearing her calling for him, gives gentle look to her, putting down their walls and got familiar to each other in fullbring arc, to the point that both of them can finally stand side by side as equals and accepting each other's help during yhwach's fight as oppose to hueco mundo arc where they were at their lowest point, trying to reject each other's help. In the final arc Ichigo was finally able to depend on others without burdening everything by himself while orihime can finally reject her role of being protected and ichigo trusts her enough to protect him. They are depending on each other and battling together in a synchronized way. This is pivotal to their characters individually as well. Was those all romantic? At least for me not really, maybe something gradually leading to that. But they have established their dynamic as the sword (ichigo) and the shield (orihime). Thats their kind of dynamic. It also works with the analogy of the sword and the sheath like in rurouni kenshin. Orihime is a great foil to ichigo's personality and it just makes more sense for them to end up together romantically. It really doesn't help when the anime changed numerous small stuffs that ends up changing a huge context as whole, and this applies to ichigo as well not just orihime. Other than that emphasizing or adding ichiruki scenes that wasnt even there in the first place. Again, there's nothing wrong preferring one to the other but we have to acknowledge both ichiruki and ichihime plays out out different dynamics with ichigo where ichiruki is more of "push past pain" and ichihime is more to "addressing those pain" hence it felt more personal. I just dislike it when people say ichihime had no chemistry/dynamics at all. This is just my opinion btw .
I won't lie, I know nothing about Bleach in particular, but I got through all of this because Hezu's voice is just pleasant to listen to while you work.
Always thought Rukia and Renji together was kind of dumb. Renji in the beginning of the series was most likely rewritten to have a past with Rukia during the SS arc, because before then he didn't care at all about her and seemed to be enjoying himself hunting for her to be executed.
You didn't read bleach. He was constantly antagonizing her in order to get her to go to soul society without letting her get hurt or killed by Byakuya keep in mind she was supposed to be captured dead or alive so Renji was doing everything he could to get her back alive. He even flat out says he let her dodge his attacks.
Fullbringer arc was a deep dive into Ichigo relationships, lost and despair . It wasn't as action packed but I still like the concepts that was explored. I think adding more fullbringer fights that had to be discreet cause in real world fighting would have accelerated the arc
It hurts that despite my Ichiruki bias, I have no problem with either Ichihime OR Renruki. My favorite Naruto ship is NaruHina, I’m okay with Ichihime, and literally the only problem with Renruki is Renji’s introduction, and it nearly causes me physical pain. Both are fine, it’s just that they never got much development. Though I am okay with that lacking development because it’s a Shonen action manga. Heck, Naruto ended with more than a few underdeveloped ships, and I was fine with those. It just sucks that that both only got the crumbs of what Ichiruki already had.
The weird thing is, the issues here with the Ship War here is actually a common issue in manga. Naruto is major example of this in... just about every way. The same can be said about nightmare that's becoming the My Hero fandom. And if you start looking outside of anime, it's a minefield of fuckery. The BBC's Sherlock, any Marvel team up movie, or the Eldritch horror that was the Harry Potter shipping scene. I'm just glad I don't care strongly in any directions about any of these things. Yay for neutrality!
Its honestly because of videos like this. Dont get me wrong, im not complaining, my point is that fans will take each and every interaction and focus on it. Honestly the author probably doesnt spend that much time on it. A lot of conversations will be decided by who is available and who hasnt had much screen/page time. So there are a lot of interactions that fans take as evidence supporting a ship when in reality its probably just an exposition scene with randomly selected characters. It is fun though xD
I'm not gonna lie, I don't even like shounen anime but your personality is so fucking bubbly and infectious, I love just listening to you speak. Like, it's so full of energy in such a dorky, endearing way. You're amazing, please keep up the content!
I love Rukia. Way more interesting than Ichigo in my opinion. That's the main reason I didn't ship them. I thought Rukia might want more than that, and Ichigo is so young compared to her. But, this has convinced me to consider it more. Plus their interactions are fun, and Ichigo seemed to show no interest in Orihime.
IchiHime is the Electoral College with IchiRuki being the popular vote, IshiHime is the Green Party that got sidelined by the Democrats and Republicans...this is without a doubt THE best and most accurate description of this I have EVER heard.
Some moments feel like bias(worse part was in final arc when you were subtracting ichihime points due to bad writing-not actual relationship; and orihimes weakness-not actual relationship; which is fair but felt...idk unjust?) is showing but overall you brought up many good points(in the final closing thoughts especially), overall enjoyable video and sience i crackship more often than ship(especially in bleach) i had no stakes here so it was interesting to see a shipwar from outside perspective.
I can't believe I enjoyed a 2.5 hour analysis of ridiculous pairings from Bleach. And damn, did you do it well... Also, you helped me see the appeal of each one of them (yes, I see your love for Ishihime and I wholeheartedly support it, Uryuu for the best boy). So... Definitely waiting for your 'anime-only' analysis 🤣 I mean, you mentioned Fade to Black and I was like 'Ah, yes, the one where Ichigo says/screams Rukia's name 53 times. This one will be fun'. Don't overwork yourself! Stay wonderful 😘💗
I don't know who's crazier; you for making this and me for watching it from start to finish (Albeit with a few breaks sprinkled here and there.) Great job with this. I never cared much about the shipping stuff of Bleach, but after watching this... I honestly feel cheated that IchiRuki wasn't a thing ._.
I just can’t stand ichigo and orihime. She hasnt even got a personality and never ever had a personal and deep connection nor conversation between each other. Ichigo and Rukia are best friends, he shares everything with her, they have a deep connection, trust and respect each other. This is what a good romantic realtionship is all about. They had lots of moment of romance too, he looked at her the way like he’s never done with nobody else, always go sacrifise himself or figut for her without hesitation. He can be himself with her. I know that when Kubo was in hospital for a long time, the publiser hurried him to draw the manga, so he wanted to make some financial damage for Shonen jump. He knew that fans prefer Ichiruki, so he chose ichigo and orihime pairing to decrease the selling of the manga. So that’s it!
I am an Ichihime shipper, but I do admit that he seemed to have a better connection with Rukia. I think that they would have had a better story for Ichihime if they combined her character with Tatsuki (since they didn't end up doing much with her anyway.) So here's how that would work: Orihime and Ichigo would have met at the dojo when they were four (one year after Sora ran away with her to protect her from their parents). Orihime was the first person to make him cry when she beat him during a match. That would be the start of their friendship Orihime would regularly save Ichigo from bullies and cheer him up when he was upset. Ichigo would call her Hime-chan, which would contrast her tomboy attitude. Orihime would be there for Ichigo after he lost his mom and would look for him when he skips school. She would offer silent support as he paced the river back from morning until night and be the first person that he tells about his ability to communicate with ghosts. Their relationship would change after the death of her brother, Sora. Orihime always used to beat Ichigo during their matches. Her dream was to be a Vale Tudo Champion. However, after losing Sora, Orihime would lose a match between her and Ichigo for the first time. After that, they would never have a match again. Ichigo would watch as his bold, outspoken, tomboy best friend became someone more feminine, caring, and sensitive. She would stop standing up for herself with bullies and that would make Ichigo have to take on the role of her protector. He would promise to protect her from anyone who dared to make her cry and that would be the moment that Orihime’s crush on him would start. Ichigo would stop calling her Hime-chan after that and start calling her Orihime. She would be one of Ichigo’s school friends, hanging out with Ichigo, Koji, Keigo, and Chad. She would often study with Ichigo, because, due to their close relationship, he would know that she receives less financial support from her relatives when her grades drop. The Orihime and Tatsuki moments would be replaced with Orihime and Ichigo moments, with Ichigo taking the role of her protective friend and the Ichigo and Tatsuki moments would be replaced with Ichigo and Orihime moments. He’d often show up at her house with food, because if he doesn’t bring food then Orihime eats weird things. There would be a lot more interactions between them that would feel less one-sided. She could awaken her powers protecting one of Ichigo's sisters because she wouldn't want him to lose anyone else. Also, she could incorporate her karate into her fights more relying on her hair clips, fighting with them instead of standing still while they handle things. And I think it would be cool if as the series goes on, Orihime begins to become more like her childhood self (becoming more like Tatsuki as she grows more confident in herself). She’d become bolder and more outgoing again, scolding Ichigo, confessing to him while he’s awake, and being a more active player in his journey. She’d be able to keep up with Ichigo, fighting alongside him, and beginning to push him. As Orihime becomes more like her old self, Ichigo would begin to show more signs of having feelings for her (because he had a crush on Orihime when they were kids, back when she was kicking his butt in the dojo). I personally would keep it open-ended as to who Ichigo ended up with, but I do think that Orihime would have been more interesting if she were more like Tatsuki.
@@silvertongue.242_99 Tatsuki kind of looks too similar to Rukia in my opinion. So, I'd keep Orihime's looks, powers, and most of her background and just merge it with Tatsuki's personality and her history with Ichigo.
Ship war!!! Yay!! Let the battle begin. I want a good clean fight and no hitting below where your belt should be. No blood shed, insult or cheap shot. Everyone have respect and be nice to each to other.
i would but she took points from ichihime for no reason. i wouldn't even care if ichiruki won if she didn't do that and hate ichiruki but she rigged it. it all cause she didn't like orihime character.
If people wanna ship ichiruki then that’s fine as long as your not hurting people then it’s cool but people need to stop harassing and acting like tite kubo is evil for not hooking up a thousand year old ghost chick with a 15 year old in which she herself has said in canon that he was a kid in a magazine that is for teenagers
Y’all reach so much. Masaki was a high schooler and got together with Isshin. Outside of Bleach there’s Inuyasha and Kagome. Plenty of pairings out there that have this dynamic and yet y’all wanna scream “PrObLeMaTiC” at something that’s actually not making y’all lose sleep at all at the end of the day. The misogyny is astounding when you apply this to IchiRuki but don’t even think twice about other ships that have the man being older. Get well very soon because yikes! 🤢🤕😷
I'm team IchiRuki all the way but I can see kubo is trying to set them as platonic friends only through their bickering. Though their friendship bond is deep and since they're both male and female..I think that's why many people would see it akin to romantic love. I wonder if Kubo make rukia as male, would people see it more like friendship rather than when rukia is a female?
my comment makes me seem like an IchiRuki hater disguised as IchiRuki fan but I'm genuinely ichiruki all the way though I can see it both ways as pure platonic only and also through implicit interpretation of their deep bond as romatic love instead.
@@chawli2782 saying ichiruki deep bond can be seen as both platonic and romantic love doesn't negate ichihime in any way..or any ship involving ichigo. saying a x b works doesn't mean saying a x c doesn't work. Okay?
@@auntienyannyan right..? I mean in sasunarusasu case, there are more people seeing them as friends simply because of their same gender. While for ichiruki, more people see them as romantic love because their gender is different.
Holy crap you did a lot of work for this! Did you really download every page of the manga that shared character interactions just for this vid? This must have taken forever. Great stuff.
thank you for this video. it was probably hell to make but showcases 3 things. the absurdity of the shippable, yet, nonsensical details needed for proof of a developed relationship, the fact kubo can't make up a damn thing related to how his characters needed to be handled romance wise, and the time constraints that pushed for the end result that made no sense given full context. this is a mothafuckin' masterpiece.
I'm still kinda confused on the point scaling stuff. Since some of the mutual stuff increases the one sided stuff. All of the renruki stuff till it finally gets out of the negative only effects the one column.
I'm gonna say it, I don't care if I piss off somebody in the comments section. Shonen manga isn't known for their romantic subplots. Just look at Dragon Ball.
Idk how I feel about a point system or trying to use math to determine love, also not sure if I agree with some of these generous points, but I'm interested in seeing the conclusion of your methods!! xD P.S. The novels are canon.
the point system seems to be a vehicle to help deliver the final analysis at the end and the novels being canon are as relevant as halo novels in that, yes they obviously mean something in the grand scheme of thing but if you are looking at the main source material to understand peoples feelings on a topic because 80% of the fanbase isn't gonna touch an obscure book that the creator wrote to sublimate aspects of the story they failed at or had trouble with then those aren't really gonna come up. essentially the books exist but if you can divorce them from the main story the same way we divorce the star wars sequel trilogy and those were movies like the original rather than books extras
@@lolsnez7542 i assume you meant "you can't" (because otherwise, you're just agreeing with my comment [circa 10/27/2020 at 11:55AM] in case you edit) and if that's the case... the fuck does it matter what you think? we are looking at the main series which is just the manga, no, games, no anime filler, NO BOOKS.
I only just finished Bleach manga but novels are not canon unless Kubo himself wrote them. Just like anime fillers are not canon. It's weird how some anime fans don't understand what canon means when it comes to manga/anime series.
@@_Sage967_The novels are extremely important and were written while Kubo was having an illness and was forced to meet deadlines. TYBW was incompleted. These novels cover a lot of things Kubo has wanted to right but couldn't at the time.
2:17:31 This right here is why an Ichihime bringing up the Pilot chapter on as to why "It was planned from the beginning" is that person shooting him or herself in the foot. Given the contrast between the pilot and final manga, you have more of a reason to think IT'S NOT planned to happen, but rather that it was a scrapped idea. Why the hell else would Ichigo not behave the same to Orihime in the main story?? You tell me.
he still clearly sees her differently then others. He's always nice, gentle, even goofy around her. Unlike Rukia or others where it's his generic tough guy act. And it's funny cause it sorta is an act. When we first meet Kon, Ichigo admits he behaves how he usually does to craft a tough guy image. But around Orihime he usually doesn't act like a tough, sarcastic, jerk.
@@alphawolf7417 That's simply your interpretation of as to why Ichigo is behaving like that to her. The way I see it is that Ichigo is trying to match Orihime's energy, not because he sees her "differently" in a romantic sense. Ichigo never was a jerk to Chad for example, because he's not really outspoken, he's a nice guy. Orihime is a wholesome and kind person too so Ichigo doesn't act like an ass around her. Uryu is a different story, he was quite the ass earlier on and both tend to bicker and have short tempers. You're able to notice that Ichigo inherently treats others different based on how he perceives them. It's why he didn't call Toshiro with a title, but he does address veterans like Unohana, Ukitake or Shunsui with a "-san" honorific and is very respectful to them, even when he knew next to nothing about them. This is simply a matter of showing different behaviors as Ichigo deems appropriate for the person. I personally see this as more realistic.
@@andrewfaulconer52 ok but others he still treats the same. He's not exactly nice to Xcition, Nel, Kisuke, Yoruichi, ect. Even some of his classmates like Keigo, he's not trying to match their energy he just is his basic self.
@@alphawolf7417 He wasn't nice to Xcution because they were suspicious and didn't care about them except for getting power, like the Vizards. They weren't friends. Nel was an annoying baby to him, that's why he wasn't entirely fond of her, but even then he still wasn't a complete jerk. He doesn't like Keigo's over the top energy, which is why he's the way he is around him, he doesn't like that behavior, unlike Mizuiro who he's chill with and he acts calm around him because he is too. Ichigo never gives him a mean attitude. He saw Kisuke and Yoruichi as allies, Ichigo only acted mean to them whether they did something mean to him or did something he really didn't like. Otherwise he is respectful to both. Like I said he's showing behavior he deems appropriate.
@@andrewfaulconer52 well even so it is a much more calm collected side of himself. That plus him admitting his behavior around most others including Rukia is just a tough guy act, leads me to assume his calmer side is his actual personality. So it sorta makes sense that his sisters, Chad, Orihime, and sorta Tatsuki are the only ones he's usually like this around. Maybe it isn't romantic but it does show he does have people he's not willing to be an ass towards.
Not really. Neither were shown romantically interested at all in the story. They just became great friends. Ichihime makes more sense since orihime was shown several times interested in ichigo and he cared for her on a deep level.
yes because a 15 year old and a basically dead 150 year old should totally end up together. there only a 133 year age difference which makes her older then ichigo's none existing grandparents. yeah and she from a different world where they basically souls which means they are dead? although they can still die in that world which is weird. either way that ship never had a chance ichigo proved that when he throw rukia to renji in the first arc. you don't throw a girl you love you gentle carry them to the ground like he did with orihime. ichigo yeeted rukia lol.
@αηgєl кσƒ I've always been good at guessing couples the author is pushing even though I don't really ship. I guessed Ron and Hermione when I was 7 after watching the 2nd movie, I said to myself the next day "I think the author wants Ron and Hermione to get together." Guessed Orihime and Ichigo as well as Rukia and Renji
No matter what people say, I love Ichiruki! Their bond is stronger than anyone’s in the series! But hey, if u like the canon pairings that’s cool, just don’t associate me with them.
objectively speaking the writing was so bad. The first arc was probably the best written. And that’s probably why so many people shipped Ichigo and rukia. Because there was substance and a reason to ship it...It’s obvious the author didn’t really have a plan for how the series was going to be. Coz like you mentioned renji wanted to kill rukia and then chapters later it’s revealed he’s childhood friends with her and wants to save her too??? Honestly kubo did not plan his shit out.
Whats more the hueco mundo arc was basically just the soul society arc 2.0. One of his lady friends is kidnapped and he risks his life to rescue her. The difference being Rukia had a time limit before she was going to die, and Aizen ultimately did nothing with Orohime but use her as bait. If Ichigo was going to end up with Orohime why put Rukia in the story at all?? He didn't need to become a soul reaper, he could have just been a human and eventually would have ended up with her. It's so dumb
hilarious because is out loud and popular that the hueco mundo arc and soul society arc are the best and why people saw ichigo and orihime being a thing, please dont lie
Renji never wanted to kill Rukia he just didn't have faith in himself to think that he was going to win the battle against Soul Society. But I believe due to the bond that he had with Rukia he would have still risk is life saving her rather Ichigo was there or not.
ichigo yeeted rukia to renji and thats how it should end with rukia and renji and ichigo and orihime. you know ichigo gentle carried orihime down lol. the writer made the right choice even had a scene where ichigo was holding hands with orihime looking into the sunset. i just realized this youtuber left that out how does that not equal biased opinions? she left out one of the most romantic ichihime scene wtf. at least i don't remember her pointing it out.
lol I'm both sasunarusasu and ichiruki fans so i can relate. and i wonder if kubo made rukia a male, would people still see ichiruki more as romantic / as friendship?
This is great, I love this, the detail and time you put into it and made some very good arguments. I don't know if you'll ever make the anime version of this but I would love to see it. I am a die hard Ichirukia shipper, but I appreciate the attention to detail in all the ships, with high and lows. This good ship content is the type is the one I wish I could find more of.
I can see potential in a youtube series like this. I believe there is an actual audience for stuff like this. You should continue this series with something like Naruhina, Narusaku, Sakusasu, etc. Also ErenHisu vs ErenMikasa
I just now discovered this video and I cannot put my excitement into words. the way you hit the nail on the head with so many things but especially the ending. kubo 200% pulled renruki and ichihime out of his ass for the sake of their kids and the new arc that's to come. also rukia, the main character alongside ichigo, to not fight beside him in the final battle was a crime. they never had a good complete fight together in the entirety of the manga and that's just extremely unsatisfying. you also mentioned how ever since the hueco mundo arc the characters were acting a bit weird. my take is that kubo felt he did too much with ichiruki in the first arc and had to shift things. everything since then was slowly but forcefully pushing the endgame couples. kubo sacrificed a lot of things and really just good writing for an ending that was supposed to lead to more. he could've done the endgame couples better even without too much cheesy romance. but for some reason he didn't. my guess would be that he just wrote ichiruki with the best chemistry from the beginning and it was too late to do anything else for the others. but in the whole process the one character he did the actual most disservice was orihime. but anws I could talk and expand on this for hours. and I really wanna mention that the video was extremely funny, your drawings were perfect and your voice was amazing. trying for voice acting should be on your list!
@@alphawolf7417 what kubo says and what kubo does kinda conflicts itself. He dropped some weak hints indeed, but the endgame couples were still a shock. You have orihime clearly having feelings for ichigo, but ichigo never treated her in a more special way than rukia. And it's very important to note the time he knew orihime and the time he knew rukia. Also, rukia never showed anything special for renji. Kubo clearly showed when someone was having something for someone else(ex. rangiku and gin, ichigo's parents, orihime, momo, rukia for kaien) but for some reason failed to show anything of sort between the main pairings. The things weren't mutual between them. The only ones who had mutual anything, be it romantic or platonic, was ichigo and rukia. Shared soft expressions, shared traumatic beginning, shared care for e/o (even tho they knew e/o for just 2 months before ichigo went to a whole other world and fought freaking captains for her. This alone should speak volumes in how ichigo feels about rukia. The cheap remake in the hueco mundo arc doesn't mean as much since it's expected for ichigo to go and save orihime, they were classmates, from the same town and knew e/o longer. The impact behind it isn't as great as in rukia's case). People very often mistake a lot of things between ichigo and orihime as mutually romantic and multiple cases were showed and explained/doubted in this video. A lot of times it's due to mistranslations too.
@@Rawenda I mean mistranslation or misunderstanding could also apply to Ichiruki as well. People assume a facial expression Ichigo gives Rukia when she had her stomach ripped open means something. But in the same breath they'll deny Ichigo's eyes shaking when Orihime saw his mask means anything. A lot of this was on Studio Pierrot as well as it seemed they really wanted to push Ichiruki. The openings and endings practically begging you to love the ship. But Kubo seemed to have the ships planned for awhile. In the pilot chapter which was a prototype of the first 2 or 3 episodes. Rukia tried to set up Ichigo with Orihime. And in a recent Q&A Kubo stated that Senna from movie one was originally going to be Rukia and Renji's daughter from a future timeline. The idea was scrapped but I don't think it's a coincidence that Ichika looks so much like Senna when that was revealed. So if I had to take a guess the reasons we didn't get as much with Ichigo and Orihime may have been due to Kubo having to cut it. Not because he wanted to though. Keep in mind there is a lot in the arrancar arc that was clearly cut or trimmed and in some cases likely altered. Yammy being the 0 Espada came out of nowhere and we never really see him in a real fight as he's taken out offscreen. Ulquiorra vs Ichigo was supposedly supposed to be like the movie 4 intro but it was much slower and less cool in both the manga and anime. Many Espada had no real backstory at all. It was a mess. And there was one thing that always stood out to me and a few others. There was a running bit of foreshadowing about Orihime in that arc but there was no payoff or explanation.

I really liked the friendship and banter between Ichigo and Rukia, and I would've been fine if they just stayed friends at the end of the manga. What really made me annoyed was, like you said, Kubo forcing IchiHime for the sake of having children for the next generation.
so was with ichigo and orihime the case

Of course Rukia stopped being relevant and interacting with Ichigo post Soul Society Arc, how else was Kubo gonna make Orihime seem like the girl that "made sense" other than basically getting rid of the girl that actually MADE SENSE???
Believe me is written well enough for people who actually paid attention to the series and used logic not in a alternate universe, in this reality, dont worry they are a happy close pariring in reality, your view wont ever change that fact
The issue is simple:
A. It's not believable that orihime and renji would like ichigo and rukia based on their words and actions, but ichigo and rukia wouldn't consider each other more than friends
B. Even if they don't end up together, ichigo and rukia's relationship is the one we as the reader are supposed to care about the most. Ending the last panel with them two, and then having their kids meet like how they met for the first time, and also slapping them on the final cover to cap off the series shows this.

Ichigo calls Rukia, Yoruichi, Rangiku no problem
For Ichigo being able to call Orihime, Orihime is something special.
For a long time, I thought inoue was her real name.even get scared that he'd call her that in ths last chapter😂
Rukia's romantic interest is almost irrelevant to her development and it is her relationship with Ichigo and humans that makes her grow as a character🤷♀️

Rukia was underused in the last arc. All they did was use her for promos but we barely saw her in the canon content itself.

Thanks for proving you havent seen bleach at all orihime was more than just a damsel in distress and made way more than you lie abouy
As a die hard Ichiruki fan since I was a middle schooler, I would’ve accepted the ending if Tite Kubo wrote how the romance even blossomed between Ichihime. Even a freaking one chapter doing a quick recap of what happened the past couple of years would’ve been nice!
With Ichiruki we at least get the emotional connection from the good to the bad while Ichihime is more like “ohh you are strong women…I respect/notice you now” (despite knowing each other since childhood 🙃)
Really love your detailed input on this and while I admit defeat for my OTP, I just hope to god that Tite Kubo redeems himself in the writing so I can see how Ichihime works.

Q: Speaking of Ichigo's relationships with his friends, there seems to be a love triangle between Ichigo, Rukia, and Orihime. Do you delve more into this in later volumes?
Tite Kubo: (laughs) I get asked about that a lot! I don't want to make Bleach into a love story because there are much more exciting things about their personalities and things that they can do instead of getting into the romance aspect of their relationships.
The shippers care more than the creator himself. Let that sink in for both sides. The plight is futile and hollow.

Fans: Well in this comic the Thing destroyed X and was able to...
Fans: But Spiderman was able to do Y in Comic L2...
Creator: It wins whoever i want to win.
Fans see things more as a real world then the creator. Fans read a story and close their eyes and begin to belife that this world is true and wonderful. That these Charckters are friends and family.
While Cretors see it different. The world is never as real for them as it is for their fans because they know that they can change everything at any moment. They can change the charackters and motives at a whim.
For example:

Oda hates killing people so he made a devil Fruit User float on water while he was KO. Fans were angry because DF users are not allowed to swim or float on water. And the fans are right. There was no good reason for the Person not to drown but Oda changed the world so the story was more lighthearted while the fans got angry because the rules of the world were hurt.

Always thought Rukia and Renji together was kind of dumb. Renji in the beginning of the series was most likely rewritten to have a past with Rukia during the SS arc, because before then he didn't care at all about her and seemed to be enjoying himself hunting for her to be executed.
It isnt. And boy watch the series again if you believe that lie
Failureofasavior what series were you watching the guy literally acts worried and serious about the situation when he has to capture her
Yeah and everyone likes to use the siblings trope to disprove ichrukia but renji and rukia are just as playful 🙄 and act just as much like siblings

I think that they would have had a better story for Ichihime if they combined her character with Tatsuki (since they didn't end up doing much with her anyway.)
So here's how that would work:
Orihime and Ichigo would have met at the dojo when they were four (one year after Sora ran away with her to protect her from their parents).
What you tatsuki and splice her with orihime might as well just use tatsuki. Feels like most orihime traits are gone 😂

Though their friendship bond is deep and since they're both male and female..I think that's why many people would see it akin to romantic love. the point system seems to be a vehicle to help deliver the final analysis at the end and the novels being canon are as relevant as halo novels in that, yes they obviously mean something in the grand scheme of thing but if you are looking at the main source material to understand peoples feelings on a topic because 80% of the fanbase isn't gonna touch an obscure book that the creator wrote to sublimate aspects of the story they failed at or had trouble with then those aren't really gonna come up.
essentially the books exist but if you can divorce them from the main story the same way we divorce the star wars sequel trilogy and those were movies like the original rather than books extras
@@_Sage967_ no you can divorce those books learn a little
@@lolsnez7542 i assume you meant "you can't" (because otherwise, you're just agreeing with my comment [circa 10/27/2020 at 11:55AM] in case you edit) and if that's the case... the fuck does it matter what you think? we are looking at the main series which is just the manga, no, games, no anime filler, NO BOOKS.
These novels cover a lot of things Kubo has wanted to right but couldn't at the time.
wow great job!!!! I hope the anime version
**Ichiruki won Bleach**
That’s the best one to describe this ship. Most people wanted that ship too. And it also made more sense.
Not really. Neither were shown romantically interested at all in the story. They just became great friends.
Ichihime makes more sense since orihime was shown several times interested in ichigo and he cared for her on a deep level.
ichihime won bleach
thats the best one to describe this ship. the fandom is ok with this ship, also it made more sense
@@buster3041 yes
@JJ M thats false
yes because a 15 year old and a basically dead 150 year old should totally end up together. there only a 133 year age difference which makes her older then ichigo's none existing grandparents. yeah and she from a different world where they basically souls which means they are dead? although they can still die in that world which is weird. either way that ship never had a chance ichigo proved that when he throw rukia to renji in the first arc. you don't throw a girl you love you gentle carry them to the ground like he did with orihime. ichigo yeeted rukia lol.
Never saw IchiRuki a possibility since I saw them as "friends". I guess that's the thing about shippers, always trying to ship. It's very awkward tbh
@ꜱᴏꜰɪᴀ ᴍᴀɴᴛᴇɢᴀ says the toxic shipper
It will always be ichiruki
No its ichihime
in your heart only lmao
No matter what people say, I love Ichiruki! Their bond is stronger than anyone’s in the series! But hey, if u like the canon pairings that’s cool, just don’t associate me with them.
Its great that you love ichihime i do so as well
it is poorly developed that’s why ichiruki is more popular after all these years get over it
@@TheSagefx keep lying
@@lolsnez7542 keep being delusional. I see you under every IR video. Why spend so much time on a ship you supposedly dislike?
objectively speaking the writing was so bad.
@@CloudTribe Rukia wasn't there to become a love interest she was there as his mentor and his friend.
If you did this for Naruto I wonder how many points narusasu would get lol

@@billyboleson2830 Absolutely. I spent my middle school years reading fanfics, and lets just say I happened upon some....strange ones.
lol I'm both sasunarusasu and ichiruki fans so i can relate. and i wonder if kubo made rukia a male, would people still see ichiruki more as romantic / as friendship?
Probably slot of negative points cause they fought alot and she docked point for renruki because of that first fight
This is great, I love this, the detail and time you put into it and made some very good arguments. I don't know if you'll ever make the anime version of this but I would love to see it. You should continue this series with something like Naruhina, Narusaku, Sakusasu, etc.
Also ErenHisu vs ErenMikasa
Yes please
Except Kubo has hinted both ships for years. Even in recent interviews he implied it was a long term endgame.
So I assume that more then likely there was supposed to be something with her that heavily impacted Ichigo. But it was cut for time.
@@Rawenda if you think any of the bs said in this video is right then om sorry to say you are a special kind of fool. And kubo never did stuff that contradicted himself
