Thank you for the review. I'm not particularly interested in those lenses, however I must to admit that the reviews that you used to make before, were completely on different level, perhaps the review between Samyang RF 85/1.4 and Canon RF 85/2.0 changed my mind (despite the fact the Samyang lens was not updated to the latest firmware) and I was able to compare the raw files you have shared with us. At that time, I had the Canon RF 85/2.0 in my kit and because of your review and raw files, I sold it and took Samyang instead. I'm very happy with this decision up to date.Unfortunately most of your latest reviews are very flat, you just verbally explain how lenses are sharp and how much chromatic aberrations they have. In addition you show some web-size previews, were you cannot distinguish any difference, even from the cellphone photos. It's very sad to see such as degradation. Sorry, but It's really hard to get any real information from such as review. I wish you could come back, and make some real jam, that you made before. Good luck.
The good thing, what you missed out, the Viltrox has a little usb connection, where you can update the Firmware very easily, it's not an EF85 anymore if you download the latest Firmware...
First thing I immediately noticed and how I was able to distinguish between the two was the flare control. The canon rf lenses, from what I have noticed, have improved flare control compared to other 3rd party lenses. Since the canon lenses have better flare control I would also guess they would have better auto focus in these scenarios as well.
Not the first time I'm seeing a problem with the Viltrox's AF. Might be a deal breaker for some. From the images shared, the difference between f/1.8 & f/2.0 isn't that vast. Also considering the macro capabilities and IS, the Canon might just be worth the extra 200 bucks.
@@ABarrera I am not sure about that but it can be found as Rokinon or Samyang in Europe easily. I watched your review and it looks like a descent lens for the rf system, I am only concerned about vignetting.

Would you suggest the best 85mm budget lens for portrait pictures for RF system or EF system, In a beginner and don’t want to spend to much for RF 85mm F1.2, so I’m looking for the budget good lens
Hey Alex! Thank you for this one. Is there any chance that you could make comparison between Canon 85 2.0 and Sigma 85 1.4? I’m in 90% sure I’ll go for Canon one but… there is still one to check on 😃 best wishes
By any chance have you compared the Viltrox to the Samyang 85 1.4 RF? The Samyang is double the price I wonder if is better. I am looking into getting a Canon R6 but there are no third party lenses that really sucks.
I used my friend sayang and I'm. a Nikon shooter. I'm now set and buying the r6 and finding it impossible to buy the find the S one unless you willing to spend 800 or so. but god I was sold in seconds.
@@SebastianKrugmann Hi.. Do you still own this Viltrox lens? I am R6m2 owner and wondering whether the newest firmware in R6m2 will make the lens not functioning. Pls advise.
@@widiartoproboprasetyo9330 I still own it and it's my go-to lens for portrait work. I haven't had any issues with my R6 mark 1 but can't tell about R6 mark 2.
Since getting the rf 85mm f2.0 iv found I use the sigma 85mm 1.4 ef adapted more, big and unwieldy but makes beautiful photos of my dog (cockapoo) do find the rf 85 good for car shows in detail shots as its light and the half macro, I think if you can slow down a little the rf 85mm is a really good lens, you cant get hold of the Samyang here in the uk but I just love the sigma anyway, great review as always :)
since i own the 100rf for my macro work, the viltrox is definently better for my shooting styles and needs. the metal body and teh feel of the lens is perfectly balanced on the r6 compared to the rf85 1.2 (that's way too big for casual shooting) i hope viltrox comes out with more rf lens, i'd buy them for sure after seeing how awesome the viltro 85mm 1.8 is, keep up the great videos!
@Video Craft Media I didn't get a chance to shoot video with it. I mostly do photos. I hope they come out with more viltrox lens for canon rf system,it's quite an amazing lens
if i have the money i still pick RF 85mm F2.. Greats Specs...better results.. Bokeh It its Defend how to use it in scenes.. Viltrox great deal for the price.. worthy it here its Only 299USD in asia..when u order from Hongkong to Philippines..
@@ABarrera Si ! Disculpas😇, es UA-cam que ahora traduce automáticamente los títulos. Buscaba un video explicando lo que tu explicas pero en español . 👍
Please excuse me, but your comparison regarding contrast and backlight is wrong and imprecise. The image you show from Canon shows the model completely blocking the back light while in the image with the Viltrox lens the sun comes directly. Also, f/1.8 and f/2.0 can give some difference in image quality.
I was wanting viltrox to be good, simply because it's such affordable lens, but it prove to be typical chinese product... based on "cheating the system", with random build quality and random reliability 😞

3rd party lenses is a big statement. There are many third party lenses that beat Canon lenses in terms of flare control, this just isn't one of them.
@@EddySawaya8637 Any suggestions for 3rd party in EF/RF mounts which handles flares better?
@@livin_lino i have the tamron 35mm f1.4. It handles flare better than the canon equivalent, EF or RF versions alike.

Hi, Samyang 85 mm or Viltrox?
Hey everyone, would you go for the Viltrox RF 85mm f/1.8 AF or a Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 with the mount adapter for the R series?
I would say Viltrox to avoid adapters. Both perform very similarly
this comparison i am looking for.. if you found one, please send the link..thank you

this was fixed by a firmware update by viltrox
2:38 I guessed right due to the Viltrox' intense flaring... its only real flaw if you ask me.
Can you compare this lens with the Samyang 85mm for the RF mount? I personally think that 85 f2 isn't so popular among us RF shooters
I can try, do they still make the Samyang? I remember reading it was discontinued

which is the better choice between sigma 85mm f1.4 or canon rf 85mm f2, please help me to choose, greetings from Indonesia

On canon R10 Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 AF Canon RF-Mount distance 1 to 5 meters lots of AF wobble, 5 - 50 meter no wobble

Was waiting 4 this cause. Couldn't make my mind. Will the viltrox be discontinued as the rokinon?
Considering the Viltrox is pretty new I want to say not any time soon.
Canon has banned 3rd party lenses from using the RF mount. So sad and selfish of canon.
can I use this viltrox 85 mm rf lens on canon m50 mark 2?
Nope! Different mounts
