Sarah is so awesome ! She really cares about her patients ! If every doctor wanted to really heal a patient instead of just writing a prescription . We would eliminate most illnesses !

Years ago, I heard about a Nun (an actual catholic nun), back in the 18th or 19th century. Who would treat Epilepsy with a High Fat (HF) diet.
But of course, once Modern Medicine came along. Pills, became the diet for Epileptics.
Now, I am Not a doctor, or even very smart. But after hearing Dr. Sarah Hallberg talk about HF & Diabetes, it is starting to make sense. Especially since I know that the Eskimo lived on a Very HF diet. And never suffered from any diabetes, or heart disease. Or any seizures that I know of.
In deed eating, basically, whale & seal blubber. Along with meat sources of fish & elk, and maybe a bear every now and then. But the whale blubber they would eat like jerky. Chewing on it all day.
Again I'm not very smart. But it makes sense to me as I don't know of any actual vegetable farming done by the Eskimo.
So yeah, I'm thinking Dr. Sarah is Right On with her HF diet. (I just wish I could remember where I heard, or read about that Nun. So if anyone can lead me on the right direction, Please respond to my comment.)
Update: I did some research and found that a HF diet is in fact used to treat epilepsy after all the drugs have failed. And even as a cure as long as the patient remains on the diet. Fascinating! Though I never did find the name of that nun. Oh well. I have just recently been diagnosed with T2 so I'm just now learning about all this stuff. I just wish I'd known sooner. Like from a child's age. But, I don't know if it would have done me any good. I mean, carbohydrates taste so darn good, lol.
    Anyway,
Dr. Sarah Hallberg, thank you for setting me straight! It will be your name I remember and please know, that my prayers are with you. So get well soon, and by all means continue speaking.

I applaud Dr. Bernstein for reducing a1c of his example T2D patients (the couple) to under 5% but why would exogenous insulin be still required? Would not their own pancreas be able to handle it ? Is not hyper-insulinemia the common problem of T2D? Would the absence of exogenous insulin improve the oxidation of the patients own fat and reduce hunger? Seems like this trivial amount of insulin is simply keeping the individuals slightly more fat and more dependent on medical treatment ? Say their a1c was 5.6% completely off of insulin- would this be better than 4.9% on exogenous insulin?

You are not doomed. I was 6.5 in Dec. 21 and now 5.8 in March 2022 eating low carb. Give that a try.
