I’ve always felt like golem was a sort of “bridge” boss, kinda like a mini-boss required for progression. I mean, it would be weird going into the lihzahrd temple and getting the stuff and getting out just to fight the cultist afterwards.
I think the reason why Empress of Light and Duke Fishron are so hard is because they are more bullet-hell type bosses, while most of the others aren't. That's also why people who play modded have less of a hard time because a lot of the bosses in Calamity and other mods are more like Duke and Empress.
bro dukw fishron is hell for me while empress is my favoutite boss bcs the bullethell when the duke fishron just dashes at u and throws sharknados idk why it's so hard for me
Another reason is because both bosses requires you to keep moving constantly an in an unorthodox directions, so you have to split your attention to pointing the cursor to where the boss is and dodging their attacks and movement
Just because I play calamity doesn’t mean the bullet hell becomes any easier. Each boss has their own bullet hell pattern, and if you play modded that means you play vs more bosses so your time spent in the game involves less of fighting vanilla bosses thus less experience vs fishron and empress That said, even Perforators make anything in Terraria look like little bitches lol
I get having Golem in the bottom tier for the memes, but he's seriously difficult in some cases. The challenge of fighting Golem is in the randomness of the temple. You might get a nice open area to fight him, or you moght get a 20x20 square of which he takes up 50% of the total area. That used to be an easy fix with actuators, but now that you cant break the Altar before killing him, the arena is much more problematic.
James: Queen Bee is very hard Also James: shows footage of fighting Queen Bee with an incredibly small arena with only one platform row with honey below with no room above him to dodge her charges.
I think that it's just based on progression, if you're fighting the moonlord you've likely already done fishron eol and the moon events which would make it a lot easier. Either way I've only fought eol like 5 times and it's already pretty easy to avoid
He ranked Empress so high with consideration of daylight fight. If you fight her during the night, which is all you need to get Soaring Insignia, she's much easier.
I remember I completely destroyed Plantera with Hook of Dissonance on my first run lol. Just find a small area were you can hook from end to end, and fight plantera there, when it reaches you, teleport to the other half, it's like a hack.
I found that fighting queen bee is a a lot easier in the hive than in a boss arena. Sure, it’s harder to dodge her charge, but when she starts to bee summon, she’s forced into a small space, and you can take a bunch of health off her bossbar using a strong melee weapon. In an arena, she can summon bees from anywhere, requiring you to locate her, then fight her in the sky.
I really love empress of light. At daytime, she feels like an impossibly difficult boss. But, her fight is 100% fair. All of her attacks are bright, shiny, and well choreographed. If you spend a half an hour practicing her in a journey mode world, you can easily get to a point where you can never get hit by her ever again, and it feels so satisfying.
Honestly I think Moon Lord is practically impossible on mobile, because you get 2 shot if you run into one of his hand eyes, regardless of whether or not the eye is in there, and as you may know, usually the only way to survive the boss is to get out of the general area of bullet hell. It's almost impossible to avoid all the lazers & bullets, & when I try to exit the general zone of death, ML follows me so quickly I always run into one of his hands & instantly die.
This just goes to show how different we all are, I would’ve ranked these guys completely differently. For example, I for one really struggle with the WoF and I have absolutely no idea why, yet I’ve never really had any problems fighting Queen bee.
The thing with WoF is finding the perfect weapon from your class for it. I struggled with it a lot, until I decided to experiment. Some weapons work much better for it than others. The Thorn Chakram, Flamelash carry me late-pre hm in their respective class playthrough, but are trash against WoF.
@@codinghub3759 Really? I am doing a mage playtrough and honestly, wof with flamelash is easier for me than with spacegun, I just build stone walls every 30 blocks apart from each other with a door, and then I Direct the projectile over the wall, and since it has aimbot anyway you can just Spam it. The walls make the Laser Spam (which I struggle with the most) completly obsolete. With this Strat I didn't need half of my hellbridge. Oh, and for me personally, I think skeleton prime is easier than wof.
I think it really depends on how prepared you are for the fight. If you just entered hard mode and only have molten or palladium/cobalt armor the queen slime and mechanical bosses are going to be very difficult. But if you take the time to titanium/adamantite you will not have a lot of trouble with the mechanical bosses and queen slime. It really matters on how much time you spend trying to get the right gear for each fight.
empress of light was my biggest prep cuz i thought she was gonna be hard as hell : i used lifeforce potion swiftness potion ironskin potion and regeneration potion for potions and i used beetle armor and terra blade with tabi so i can dash and also fishron wings so i can fly(plus it looks cool as hell) i build a small arena cuz while i was building the arena it was nighttime and i wanted to fight her and didnt want to wait until next night
I was casually playing my world on Switch yesterday, and while i was cleaning my biggest corruption biome i was digging and randomly got The Dirtiest Block. My gear is a Legendary Terra Blade, Chlorophyte armor and drill, and TerraSpark boots, which i got before hardmode
i actually defeated all of hardmode bosses fairly easily(except duke) the easiest one was lunatic cultist i didnt even prepare anything(no potions nothing) and still beat him(beetle armor and flying dragon)
Always build an arena that fits the boss’s fighting style, it will make things incredibly easier. Asphalt blocks, heart lanterns, and campfires are your friend, only 3 things I needed to smoke Moonlord
See, the problem with most bosses is that how hard they are to fight is almost always tied to where you're fighting them and what accessories you're using. If we're talking arena wise, Golem comes with one, but it's a toss up as to whether you'll get a good one, so does Brain. Plantera practically FORCES you to make an arena, while the entire Underworld is the de facto arena for Wall. If you have a medium or large world, Duke is only a problem in his final stage, since you have a bigger biome to work with. I'd say the Twins are the hardest, since they match your mobility at that point, and cursed fire heavily penalizes you for getting hit.
even the twins are an absolute joke. the only real threat is spazmatism in its first phase and retinazer in its second phase, but you can fight those individually. retinazer in its first phase if you move properly will NEVER fire at you, and spazmatism's projectiles in its first phase aren't too hard to dodge and once you get it to its second phase it's a complete joke.
I always had A LOT of problems with Duke Fishron... until I read that you should mainly move vertically. That changed sooooo much. Trying to avoid Fishron horizontally is extremely difficult.
The secret to the queen bee fight is having two fairly spaced platform levels and having the slime mount to dodge her charges. Equipping the bezoar is also really helpful since most of her attacks deal long lasting poison and stops health regeneration, rendering campfires, heart lanterns, regen potion, and honey useless. Stay still and spam attacks during her bee summoning phase. During the stinger phase, move around and make it so that you're not on her line of sight but she is on yours, similar to skeletron's homing skulls attack
Every boss in this game is free anyway a new gamemode which is actually hard should be added. Not just a damage buff, mastermode is shit, the pre boss early game is too hard but once you get decent gear it becomes free.
Golem is difficult with a tiny arena in the lizard temple bc you have those fireballs, lasers and then the regular mobs themselves which hit like a truck so i think he's actually a pretty well rounded boss
16:10 I think you could say it isn't too hard. Just that it can take a while and thus even a tiny careless mistake could potentially cost you everything. Longer boss fights tend to mean you're more likely to mess up, which is what makes those kinds of bosses harder. Not to mention you can really be on edge because if you lose, I believe you have to deal with the pillars again, and that can stress you out a little, and that can also lead to mistakes
Coincidentally, earlier today, I was watching lots of these boss tier list videos, and wondered to myself “why hasn’t chippy done one yet?” Then I see in my recommended that this has been posted. Great vid!
The king slime has some chunky health (depending on which weapon you are using) but it is easy to just run and shoot it with a ranged weapon. Sometimes it can be a bit annoying to take down king slime so I agree with putting it in "Easy". The eater of worlds however is probably the easiest boss in the game (in my opinion). All you really have to do is stand in one place, hit, move out from attack, stand, hit and reapeat.
For me, a magic user, The Destroyer was basically a joke to me because of the high damaging meteor staff that makes it almost guaranteed to hit, and the nimbus rod for extra damage, the only problem i had with it were the probes and lasers, its still easy to cheese boss as you can just have a box in the sky with a nimbus rod and only focus on the probes
The Destroyer should be "very easy to cheese", because the daedalus stormbow against the Desroyer is Like Fightng your School Bully with all the infinity Stones.
Most people don't really care about getting a Mythical Piss Book™ as most use it only for the debuff but it's a pretty solid tool to clear the entire arena from probes, add a heart reach potion on top of that and you will be healed any time you run around your arena.
@@fionnmullen1249 no he didn’t you can’t possibly find the destroyer the second hardest boss. Like come on, many bosses are DEFINITELY harder and a lot others might also be arguable better, like definitely moon lord, Twins, Duke fishron are harder than the destroyer
Moon Lord is kind of a cheesy boss where the boss cheeses you. The strategy to defeat him is so strict that if you don't know it then you lose, but if you do know it or happen to stumble upon it then you win.
For the destroyer I personally think melee is the best class! You do SO much damage if you either tank it or stand under it. You do like 1000dps if you tank it. As long as you have good defence then melee can work out rlly well
Queen Bee depends on whether you have Bezoar. With it you have a much easier time focusing on the queen instead of the army of bees she spawns non stop. Learned that the hard way on my ongoing Master mode playthrough.
Me and my friend recently took on Eye of Cthulhu in the constant seed. Expert not master, but I had wood and cactus armor and my friend had iron. We barely found any life crystals as well. Somehow we got it down to a sliver before getting killed.
I recently started playing in master mode. And brain of cthulhu is the only boss I had no problems with. If you have a weapon that can attack from a greater distance than meles or any summon then you always know where the real one is and you don't need to use the minimap.
As a summoner, destroyer is the nemesis of my playthroughs. I was in the middle of an expert calamity playthrough, and I never finished it because I'd maxed out all the gear possible at that stage of the game and I still couldn't put out enough dps while still being able to tank through the hits. Probably still behind daytime EOL, but for me it's close.
I don't know, man... I really think Duke is harder than Empress. Empress is pattern based more so than many other bosses, so once you learn the positioning for avoiding her attacks she gets way easier. Duke has the tornados, and the bubbles, and a lot more than catches you off guard.
Duke for the most part comes down to evasion and having a big enough arena. Learning how to avoid dukes charges and how to get away from those sharknados is extremely important for the fight but once you get decent at it the fight becomes very easy. The only part id say it difficult is the final phase from expert but it mostly comes down to reacting to where duke is coming from and dodging accordingly Atleast thats from my own personal experience.
I think EoL is harder than Duke Fishron, it probably is a fact because Duke Fishron’s Cthulhunados Is easily avoided if you’re always in the air. And his charge attacks are a joke. And btw I think Moon Lord is the hardest
Fun fact: In the Lunatic Cultist fight, when you attack a duplicate when there's already a dragon alive, it actually summons an Ancient Vision, which is a yellow floating Moon Lord head that just charges at you I think. For every duplicate you hit with a dragon alive, you summon more Visions.
i think that if you rate eol while considering her daylight form then you should also consider enraged plantera and enranged queen bee, they become way harder that way
I was not prepared for how much more difficult Queen Bee is in Expert mode my first time playing. Even with gear rig before starting hard mode she is just so fast and does so much damage.
I personally find EoW to be much harder for the sheer fact that i'm too lazy to build an arena and would just fight it then and there. Also the reason why I prefer fighting the BoC, because the game automatically makes a big enough arena for you.
well... "arena" on both evil biome bosses is pretty much just laying down alot of platforms. Personally, I dont really see the difference in the two of their arenas if I think about it
@@Desktopped do you build an arena for both bosses on the surface? i was thinking of fighting them in their habitat. building a surface arena is more troublesome for me than just bombing the narrow chasms, which i already dislike doing.
If you can get waterbolt before eow then you can literally just spam it in one of those tiny corruption chasms as you spawn it and you can win with minimal movement
queen slime is the hardest for me. that is, until i tried using the daedalus stormbow for the fight. it's good for dealing with crowds of enemies, which is perfect, and she's a decently big target so most of your arrows will land on her or her minions and another useful strategy is to make a flat area and add a tiny amount of lava, it will help get rid of the enemies she spawns
For me I used meteor staff but I see on why that bow works good I mainly died in queen slime on the second phase but I used black spot mount and it was easy
that would be very simple solar pillar - Very hard crawltipede's and corite's nuff said nebula pillar - Moderately hard brain sucklers and those teleporting things could get annoying stardust and vortex pillars - easy just run around and kill stuff not much threatens you in those pillars
For people having trouble with moon lord. -Build a skybridge -Build a house on said skybridge -Get your nurse to move into that house -spam the nurse during moon lord boss fight. It’s nearly impossible to lose the fight when you do this.

Just because you’re ranger doesn’t mean WoF is easy because you still have to shoot and aim and dodge the lasers because sometimes when WoF is below 30% hp his fire rate can be as quick as a Megashark, he’s most likely the hardest pre hardmode boss
Obsidian Outlaw armor and Spinal Tap make the fighr much more manageable for summoner. Whip builds are fantastic. After Calamity updated to 1.4, I played summoner. I used Obsidian Outlaw armor for every boss before Moonlord, where I had to switch to Hydrothermic. It's so good.
@@claraclenky9843 and no class is better than the other in every way? You’re right but being ranger doesn’t make necessarily make WoF easier than when you’re playing in any other class
14:08 as a vanilla player it really depends on the gear you have, if you are rocking gear after plantera like right after you are very likely gonna lose, if you have post golem or post endgame it’s quite a challenge, don’t get me started in day time empress, overall I recommend beating empress of light before moon lord so you can get terraprisma and use it on moonlord
Im on mobile but i was pretty getting hard on golem in 1.4.4 its because the golems fist had been buff i was shooting it my mega shark (im on ranger class btw) i didnt actually bounce off i was like: what the what? this is like a punching bag on the other versions. Also this give me some disappoint and my area was a littel bit small to figth golem the after i destroy golem's fist then i go straight from the body then i realize if this goes to second phase how do i gonna dodge the beams above if my area is small then i got shred by the head a few times but i beat golem the 4th time i summon him but with a large room this boss is cheesed using the mega shark but its great to dodge beams is to use the master ninja gear and the shield of the cathulhu (just give warding for extra def to make it 6 def on it) well thats it
I would say EOL daytime qualifies as Very Hard but that’s only the daytime fight and the normal fight is MAYBE bottom of Hard tier for me so yeah I agree with where you put EOL
@@michaellogozzo2073 in my opinion Day Time EoL is easier than Moon Lord, I just manage to beat her in a few attempts because her attacks are easy to dodge with good mobility wings.
My first boss was eye of Cthulhu, killed him in 1st try Second boss was King slime, dies once Third boss was brain of Cthulhu, killed him 1st try I struggled the most with King Slime😂😂
Master moonlord is harder than empress. His patterns are less predictable and do lots of damage if they land. Empress is actually pretty easy to learn once you fight her 3 or 4 times
Tip for duke fishrons final phase: If you count the teleports the fight can become much easier. For example what it will do is each teleport it has a pattern. 1st teleport it does 1 dash. 2nd it does 2. 3rd it does 3 dashes, then after wards it resets so what I do is I count the dashes out loud. I go 1, 1 2, 1 2 3.
I’m confused on how he used Insignia as an argument for Moon Lord being easy. You seriously think I’m gonna fight the hardest boss on your very own tier list on * expert mode * and win? Especially coming from a summoner main
The first time I ever went up against queen bee I accidentally spawned her and won the fight. I have never been that lucky since. Holy crap she is a hard boss
I still don't see how queen bee is so hard for some, I'd even go to say she is easier than King slime and Golem because of how easy her attacks are to dodge
I play a lot of terraria, but I haven’t beaten moon lord because I can’t get cultists pattern down. I also play summoner so maybe that’s why I can’t beat cultist.
Wall of flesh: I am a monster made from human flesh that contains the spirits of light and dark and I can only be summoned via sacrifice The star cannon in my inventory:
I think people's experiences will vary greatly depending on how they play the game. I tend to collect nearly everything before a boss, but don't always put much effort into arenas. I find Golem, the Destroyer, and Plantera harder than listed, while I find the Cultist, Brain of Cthulu, and Twins easier. I think the Cultist is the easiest boss in the game each time I get to him.
So get this… I’m playing master mode and I get to the Golem room. It is the worst RNG luck, the room was tiny. I’m talking nearly smaller than most bee hives. I had such a difficult time with it partly because I was playing summoner but it changed my take on golem. 9 out of 10 times I destroy him but that one play through made me respect him a bit more.
I agree with Chippy on Bee being hard. She’s a serious challenge, hitting hard and fast with little room to dodge since you’re in the underground jungle. She requires brain power, and making a decent plan to acquire her loot. Also, I disagree on WOF. I’d say it’s either Hard or Very easy to cheese, since… haha beenade go brr. Even though I just mentioned how Queen bee is hard, once you make a good plan you can reuse that plan over and over to farm her to get a lot of beenades very fast.
"... with little room to dodge since you're in the underground jungle." That literally depends on your arena. Which at best takes 20 minutes to make a good arena. If you fight her in a cramped space where the bees stunlock you or where you can't outrun the stingers, then of course it's going to be hard. You can also stack on defense to completely stomp her, even on master mode. At best, it takes around 50 defense on master. Her dash does 81 damage, so the calculation would be 81-50 = 31. Let's not forgive DR. (81-50)*0.9 = 27.9 which arounds off to 27. It's not even hard to get 50 defense since seafood dinner + Ironskin already gives 12 defense and with even sub-optimal defense modifiers, it's pretty easy to get at minimum, 13 defense. Let's not even forget Armor defense. Poison might seem like an issue but then you realize heart lantern + campfire and regen potions completely negates poison without Bezoar.
@consume I use 3 rows of platforms in the beehive Honestly I've never been hit by her ram attack. I just jump to a higher platform or jump down one. She's fairly easy. Meanwhile golem was a bit tricky for me the first time around
For duke fishron i just linked two teleporters on each side of the ocean and then use the terrablade to kill it. I built a small room with a 2 block opening incase the bubbles came inside the teleporter. Its really op imo.
Skeletron and skeletron prime were the death of me when I was little, and they still really suck to me. If your not using a high defense class it's gonna be a rough fight because especially with skeletron prime he has too much going on to dodge his attacks everytime.
I have no idea what's with me, but golem is always super hard for me. Even after watching a few tutorials I feel like I'm doing something wrong while fighting him
You probably have a small arena. Try using actuators to make it larger, remember that he enrages outside of the temple though, so don’t drop him outside of it. Just create a platform above and pelt him with all you got. :) Also depends on your class, weapon and accessories. I’ve always found him easy as a melee, sometimes so easy that it will end before I realize his HP
Only change I'd make is probably bumping Skeletron up one or so. In Classic mode he's like butter, but higher he can be annoying. Also, Witches Broom and Cosmic Car Key can substitute for Soaring Insignia for the Moon Lord, if you can get those.
I thought queen bee would've been pretty easy Destroyer of words has given me so many issues even over the twins I would say fishron is really hard the first time. Once you beat him that first time though he becomes pretty easy. My first moon lord fight was very difficult. Everything after has been a cake walk.
I have over 3,000 hours in this game, and I’ve yet to legitimately beat Duke Fishron. Don’t know why, but I have this weird aversion to even fighting him since he’s not one of the progression bosses (same with King/Queen Slime and Empress)
I completely agree I completely forgot to defeat fishron in first play through because I didn’t read the wiki, and then I attempted to defeat him after moon lord and really struggled , he’s not like the other bosses

Nights edge kills WoF in like 12 seconds if you have some good melee armor.
@@constant249 Thats very interesting. So how'd you actually get so many summons?
@@codinghub3759 Really?
I am doing a mage playtrough and honestly, wof with flamelash is easier for me than with spacegun, I just build stone walls every 30 blocks apart from each other with a door, and then I Direct the projectile over the wall, and since it has aimbot anyway you can just Spam it. The walls make the Laser Spam (which I struggle with the most) completly obsolete. With this Strat I didn't need half of my hellbridge.
Oh, and for me personally, I think skeleton prime is easier than wof.
@@manfredfeigt8928 Interesting idea. Don't mean to be rude, but have you tried that strat in expert mode or higher?
I think it really depends on how prepared you are for the fight. If you just entered hard mode and only have molten or palladium/cobalt armor the queen slime and mechanical bosses are going to be very difficult. But if you take the time to titanium/adamantite you will not have a lot of trouble with the mechanical bosses and queen slime. It really matters on how much time you spend trying to get the right gear for each fight.

I hate the twins so much I fight them once and avoid having to fight them again
the twins are basically always my first mech boss I beat, with a gravity potion it's pretty easy to not get hit by their attacks
For me twins are really goddamn easy cuz all you need is megashark + asphalt bridge = ez twins kill

I always had A LOT of problems with Duke Fishron... until I read that you should mainly move vertically. That changed sooooo much. Trying to avoid Fishron horizontally is extremely difficult.
just use UFO mount or wings to move in a circle like shape when duke is dashing
Works for the eye bosses too btw
Hell nawh putting the bees harder than the mech bosses 💀 its pretty easy actually even in master
Bezour is a hard mode drop sadly. But really all you gotta do is prep up some iron skin potions with some range and she has very predictable attacks

Golem is difficult with a tiny arena in the lizard temple bc you have those fireballs, lasers and then the regular mobs themselves which hit like a truck so i think he's actually a pretty well rounded boss
@@houseking9211 Actuators: Are we a joke to you?
16:10 I think you could say it isn't too hard. Just that it can take a while and thus even a tiny careless mistake could potentially cost you everything.

The only part id say it difficult is the final phase from expert but it mostly comes down to reacting to where duke is coming from and dodging accordingly
Atleast thats from my own personal experience.

I think EoL is harder than Duke Fishron, it probably is a fact because Duke Fishron’s Cthulhunados Is easily avoided if you’re always in the air.

As a summon main, golem is one of the hardest bosses.
"... with little room to dodge since you're in the underground jungle."
That literally depends on your arena.
