    Just wanted to say thank you for all your videos. You do a great job at delivering information without a “know it all” approach, combined with an unbiased point of view with just the right amount of personal preference from your own experience. I have been type 1 for about twenty years and have learned more from your videos in the past couple of weeks than I have previously. I rarely subscribe to any channel, however yours has been a must. I wish you continued health and success, and please keep the videos coming! Much appreciated, Dave.

      Oh Dave! These words mean the WORLD to me!! THANK YOU!! I genuinely don't ever want people to think I'm 'preaching' - I just want to share my perspective, which I think can sometimes be helpful - even just to see things that go wrong for someone and realizing not to do it yourself - haha! Just thank you so much for your kind words, and for subscribing!! It's such an honor to have you as part of the community here, and also such a compliment to say you've learned from me - I bet I could learn a ton from you - my fellow 20 year t1d buddy!!!

    Thank you for sharing the highs and lows, as sometimes it seems you’re in this on your own when your BGLs are running wild for no apparent reason. I have been running high for 2 days, nothing worked to bring it down, turned out to be a faulty Dexcom G6 sensor, and only found out by ringing the helpline for another reason. It must be tough when you are used to such straight lines on your CGM, I’ve never quite achieved such perfection, but am working hard to correct that situation. Love to know why you moved home and a new home tour please! I keep a plastic crate up in my walk in wardrobe with all of my diabetic consumables in, plus I pack 20 at a time insulin pump site change bags. I like your idea of a grab and go bag. Must add that to my list. I also keep a grab and go hospital or emergency bag after a few disasters with ER’s not trusting my CGM etc... another story.

    Your moving could have technically qualified as a resistance workout. I am T1D and go to a gym to do a mixed routing of weight training and aerobics. The aerobics bring me down, but the weight training brings me climbing upward unless I am careful, the climb can last 6 to 12 hours and then -bang down I go at a rapid rate. Often in the middle of the night! Careful planning, during and right after the activity of a correction bolus if it starts rising at the wrong moments plus strategic snacking with high protein, low carb foods can prevent the overnight low.

    Interesting that you had your pump on your arm. It looked so smooth to disconnect too. I would have thought that would be a difficult location with the tubing and all. But it sure didn't look like it just now. Where is your G6? Do you usually keep the pump on your arm? and g6 wherever it is? The new place looks very nice. Thank you for all that you share. It is so encouraging to learn tips and tricks and attitudes to get one through very hard days. Why 2 different infusion lengths? Yes to recipe videos?

      I love an arm site! I find it and the upper back easiest to disconnect - which I really appreciate the convenience of! I usually have my G6 on my stomach or back of arm. In this instance, it was on the other arm. Thank you so much for your kind words friend!! And for watching! :)

    very courageous.... during all this activity it is very essential for us to look after the BS also but not possible to do the finger prick in between or do scan the sensor, better we should have such device on sensor which could give sensor's reading automatically to the phone without scanning the senor. I have Nightrider Blucon which gives my sensor's reading on my phone and watch without scanning my sensor so I usually stress free while doing such activity.

    Afternoon Andrea. It’s worth having a look at two guys who Mater diabetes, even type 1. I found them and think it’s worth a look. Totally up to you. One guys name is Robby Barbara. Just a thought. It’s a vegan diet though, so might not be your thing. Have a lovely day. 💕

      Yes! I was on a vegan diet and followed these guys religiously!! I had to stop because I had some pretty serious stomach issues crop up, but initially I felt so good on it and my insulin sensitivity was very good too. Sad I can't tolerate it :(

    Hi Andrea, hello from Nanaimo! Congratulations to you and David. I'm a T2D and using a freestyle libre, which is a game-changer in terms of my treatment. My issue is that I have highs and lows in a short period of time. I know T1D and T2D are comparing apples and oranges but do you have tips on keeping level blood glucose readings? BTW, I too had a bad reaction with the covid vaccine. It laid me out for several days. Cheers and Best Wishes Steve

    • @ShesDiabetic
      @ShesDiabetic  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you so much Steve! I'm no doctor, but some things to think about - are you eating fast acting carbs/sugar? That can create a spike. Are you on insulin or just tablets? If insulin take your FSL reading to your doctor and see if they can adjust your rates - actually take these readings to your doctor regardless as they might be able to help! I also find eating a little higher in fat and lower in carbs helps me see more level numbers, just generally. I really hope this helps!

      That's so excellent! I find it depends on the pump I'm using and it's closeness to my body too! But that's very excellent to hear your experience because you're in warmer temps than I by far and it sounds like you'd had no issues - this is great!!

    Your life and the lives of all Type 1's depend upon insulin supplies and support materials. Imagine a world in which those needed infusion sets, hypodermic syringes or even insulin became difficult to get. The pandemic has demonstrated to us all that even everyday items can become in short supply, and yes, you are doing the right thing by maintaining a well stocked base of supplies. This is a protective measure all diabetics need to take. Do it, now!
