Flying with Toroidal Propellers | Foxeer Donut Props

- These props have been on my list of things I've wanted to try out, prior to the release of these you would of had to 3D print them which I wanted to wait until a company started to manufacture them at large. Low and behold that day has come, I hope you guys enjoy the video of me testing these bad boys out, I think they sound amazing and slightly reduce the noise signature of the prop compared to your traditional tri-blade design.

Dude your property looks like a park awesome and great flying 👍
I don't say this often because i usually don't care.....but damn bro you got a nicely manicured lawn. Give your pops some props for the nice aesthetics.
Oh and nice flying.
thanks haha, he has been voted in our neighborhood to having the nicest lawn, he takes great pride in that lol
Bro I love the way regular props sound at your estate. Excellent vid. Thank you!
Dude's manicured lawn is as good as his fro. Nice one bro
I don't watch too much surfing, drone flying or skateboarding pools or ramps anymore but I did enjoy this video.....

Your dad loves the lawnmower 😍
indeed haha
I love your house, greetings from Down under
Spoiled Americans! Just kidding, Im an American myself, was spoiled growing up and didn't even realize it. Not so lucky as an adult. Back to the props. Been flying LOS and FPV for many years, I absolutely love the air ripping sounds our toys make, especially with bi blades. The HQ 6x4.3MR carbon nylon was my favorite bi blade. Almost impossible to find. Extremely delicate but performance and sound was out of this world. Out of curiosity I've been waiting for a toroidal prop for a while. Im a little surprised, their not as quiet as I thought they would but they seem to perform better than I expected. I was expecting really lousy performance.
That yard. God damn is that a nice looking yard.
those are the most aggressive looking toroidal props I've ever seen
BTW man just subbed awesome flying you spanked that quad 😂👍🏼
check your dynamic idle setting for the issue you mentioned about abrupt throttle ups when descending around 4:10 in the video.
Thanks Jordan. I had my first maiden flight yesterday but my goggles haven't arrived yet so had to free eye it. I am so syked to get the full experience now. It was awesome. Toroidal props is def something i have been interested in trying out. Very cool. Cheers.
Nice video. The way my son goes through props I don’t think I could afford anything more fragile. Still pretty cool. I’m happy to see your channel growing in subscribers. You do a great job. Thanks again.
That's badass! The tone is definitely more pleasing to the ear. I only fly GPS drones but would definitely scoop up a few of these props if they start making them for my DJI.
quite interesting, thanks for the video my dude. Very good quality production as well :)
The floating as you are coming down is probably because you are in Air mode. Air mode will keep your drone in the same position as you descend with zero throttle. If you are in acro, it will tend to wobble more or fall to the heaviest point on the drone, usually the battery. Air mode is designed to keep the drone in the last position you set, and the drone will automatically turn the props as necessary to achieve that.
awesome comparison, thanks! keep it up!
thanks for the comparison video. Nice flying!
Your running lemon limes s4...do the new props change your flight characteristics, did you have to modify your tune?! Cool video
thank you, no modification to the tune
Nice comparison man! Keep it up 🙌 That F3 quadmula will be a lot quieter I’m sure. Be cool to see that video soon. 🤙
I want a set for my 3inch builds. If the efficiency gains are half of what is claimed it will change a lot at that size.
Great test bro
Nash, I think will still stay wiw my 3blade in terms of durability and maybe 10%+ lower noise it is not much. Thanks for testing for us. Ta!
Joooooder, Xaval, menudo caseto.
Always wondered about these, good review man
wild props there!
sweet flyin as always bro!
Nice video, one day you will be big, your channel will grow :))
Neat, a bit quieter. They sound as if they’re a prop an inch in pitch lower.
Your quad motors ramping up on the dive is because you are running inverted props. I was having the same issue and it got me crazy until I swapped to normal prop rotation. Issue is gone. Other people have been having this too, specially with big quads. Only my Betaflight quads do this tho, never had it with KISS.
So change the direction of the motors in BF?
@@jordanlmiller yes, change it to the default ''props in''. Let me know if it helps!
Mad good piloting there!
2 blades are the most silence props. So I would like to have 2 blades with insane pich on them which I could not find yet :) thank's for sharing.....:)
I definitely prefer the pitch over the traditional props!
Good info .BUT give your dad some props for me with that yard..............................................................
At this stage you are pretty much donating to the prop makers so they can do more RnD.
I am not in on these particular props, but I am in on the hype of future prospects of this new typology.
What are your rates i love the mix of speeds in rolls and flips etc, super smooth!
they are 800degrees pitch/roll and 720yaw, I'll be coming out with a google docs file here soon with them on all my quads
Thanks for the video very informative, very interested in these
Great video Jordan, i just became a sub. 😎
Nice property man🤌🏼 I have seen these play out and I'm sure they will get alot better in time but 2 blade will always be quieter and for that idle issue I would try to turn off d-min and raise your d-gain a little hope this helps✌🏽
Not sure if the sound difference is due to the prop being heavier and the RPM being lower or is due to the prop design itself. However they don’t seem to have a throttle response that is as good as the S4.
Great audio test. Definitely quieter.
Nice video and information about these new props, I think because of the durability of this product it's not worth it, even though it was quieter, the midrange was louder. Thanks again for the information
Will you try the zip line props also?
not sure what those are???

That spot is insane.. That looks like God's country.
Bro I’m ur 800th sub
thats lit, thanks for subbing
These sound so much less 😱 like it will get a pair and have a test myself !
You can turn off or on antigravity in betaflight to keep it from doing that right that you were talking about where it would throttle you? I think that's the setting?
No it's airmode
Great review. This is the first actual production toroidal prop I’ve seen reviewed! It seems like the struggle with them will be finding a material durable enough with the proper characteristics for them to be viable. Short of titanium, I don’t think they’ll make one tough enough for my flying lol. Have you noticed any increased efficiency since you finished making this vid?
no noticeable increase in efficiency from my point of view, I'm super stoked to see the progress of this prop, like you said once they make it stronger I think it will be a candidate for a lot of people.
@@jordanlmiller yeah all I’ve seen are people test 3d printed toroidals and they’re a joke. Nowhere near the proper material or construction method lmao
Great flying btw!
That is the anti gravity on betaflight ;)
the decent thing, do you have airmode on?
yea, air mode
@@jordanlmiller some people turn it off complete because the drone with do something similar to what you mentioned
Hit up @BrandonBeans for your questions about tuning and general quad stuff. It definitely needs a tune.😁🤟🏼
Your quad accelerating down that fast introduces an accelerating air speed to the propellers too: propellers were designed to lift, no? Well it's kinda like helicopters, if you wanted to reduce that, you'd have to change the pitch of the propellers, but ya can't, b/c ya know.......the design of the quad and stuff. Try coming down without the quad horizontal to the ground: try coming down nose down, and it might be a bit different.
I will try that, thank you!
TBH, those might fly better with the end chopped off. Also... that property, my god... I would never wanna move out when I got older if my folks had a place like that. Never leave!
Tbh I thought they were supposed to be cut in the mit version
@@jthedarkwolfxtreem I know Kabob also thought they might perform better clipped. Willing to bet his educated guesses are within the ballpark on this one.
Imagine camping in the middle of nowhere and hearing that in the distance and having no idea what it is LOL. Those things are menacing!
I just flew it for my grandparents who didn't even know these things existed and they thought aliens were coming haha
@@jordanlmiller that’s awesome haha. It definitely sounds like something from a sci-fi movie.
The vibration is causing the throttle issues
What if I replace the normal propeller to toroidal propellers will it fly
all propellers have to match
You may want to reconsider adding a second battery strap
yeaaaa, something I'll be doing soon. I have to change out the top plate to the bigger one in order to make room for extra strap.
The floating thing you’re getting, isn’t that the anti_gravity feature? Look into it!
If you’re on BF
just turned it off, will test later today, thank you
@@jordanlmiller no problem bro, good luck!
Thank you ….😎🦾
Great video! Could you share your rates?
they are 800degrees pitch/roll and 720yaw, I'll be coming out with a google docs file here soon with them on all my quads
We’re you able to see a difference in the amp draw in you flights?
I will have to test that, I don't have amp draw on my OSD, will have to enable
Just a suggestion- you may wish to note throttle position and the associated amps.
If the same can be done for your three bladed or five bladed prop, it will give you a good start inevaluating this new to market prop.
Thank you
STL ?
try box-props (bi-props) or shrouded-props (ring-props)
C👀l
🍝🦆
Should be called doe doe props
it sputters because of either airmode stabilization or prop wash.
This dude yas a nice house and three cars. He is freaking rich dude
Lemon lime s4
try other pants next time😉
The sound is way more tolerable than the other ones. The other one's have this sound & effect to them that just gets pretty irritating. Not the other propellers. They have a way better tone, vibe, and pitch to them.
Is this what slim jimmy doing now that he not in swae lee group
LMAO
To brittle for me I'll wait til they get better....
I can’t trust those propellers
Don't use these props. They inefficient and don't produce as much thrust. Not worth it.
i dont like the look of this props^^
