  • The Boat Pool in the Southbank Parklands facilities in Brisbane, Australia was starting to look old and they were having problems with Black Spot Algae. The Previous coating was a very similar system to the one that we replaced it with, but the top coat was originally sand seeded to refusal which made it less flexible and allowed the Black Spot to take hold.
The original scope was to remove and replace the top coat because the polyurea membrane underneath was still in tact, however once the removal started it was found that although the base membrane was in tact it was delaminating from the concrete base membrane over large areas, so the decision was made to replace the full membrane.
The weather was a constant battle during the project, no more so than when a large storm caused a number of slabs (steel fibre reinforced only, very thin shell) to lift up, requiring replacement before the job could continue.
In the end though, it was a satisfying project for those involved!

Is the Polyaspartic coating is successful in Swimming Pool application??

It should be, but in this case the Nukote product did start to fade and deteriorate more than expected. Honestly, Our standard ShieldPoly F15 polyurea gives excellent performance in pools, and light grey or black can look great. Grey tends to take the water colour rather than seeing grey.

@@ShieldCrete As a curiosity, how can you spray a second coat of polyurea over your first coat of polyurea?
