Add the future possibility to preorder consoles using the Nintendo accounts to combat scalpers. This could be a very nice safety feature to secure units for their core audience.
I realize this is ridiculous for revenue, but I really miss when Club Nintendo gave out free physical gifts based on games you registered. I absolutely loved the cool plastic feather stylus they sent out for Phantom Hourglass.
I miss the physical rewards, too. The value of game purchases was eight to ten times higher in Club Nintendo than now. Some games got you a gift right away, and even a group of games got you a physical gift in the old system (I've still got my Pikmin tote bag and Mario Christmas tree ornament.) Furthermore you could bank these purchases forever as they didn't expire. New system is a mere 50 cent value (USD) on digital purchases for every game registered, and are only good for up to 12 months from game's release.
The problem with platinum points, at least in Europe, is that they’re pretty much useless. The range of applicable merchandise on offer is absolutely abysmal.
Yeah, I got a Zelda phone grip thing, had to pay postage and it got lose and unusable within a few days. On the other hand, from Club Nintendo I got a Mario group statue thing that I recently sold for £100 and a gold TP Link and Epona statue which goes for about £800 now. I wasn't charged postage for either of them too.
19:33 - EXACTLY. I don't play games FOR achievements, but when I'm already enjoying a game, I love them! I also buy nearly every multiplat on Steam now (or play on PC Game Pass), as I like having a record of my gaming experiences that always stays with me & isn't tied to hardware. Whether it's Playstation, Xbox, Steam or any other platform, there's a reason they all do it. Nintendo refusing to add "Stickers" or some other unique, Nintendo-flavored version reeks of stubbornness & and attitude of "we didn't think of it so let's not do it." It's more of Nintendo being different just for the sake of being different.
It's as if Nintendo does not realize that stars/shine sprites/moons in 3D Mario games are actually a form of achievements. They have specific criteria to meet, and upon achieving them, you get a star/shine sprite/moon.
This is amazing video. It must take a lot of effort to research all of this information. Thanks for covering this topic in such a clear and concise way.
The only thing I ever really used My Nintendo rewards for was getting themes for my 3DS. Hardly a big deal, but it was a nice little bonus. As far as discounts on games, by the time a game got a discount offered through My Nintendo, I either already owned it, or decided I didn't want it and a small discount wasn't going to change my mind.
Took a few years, but I eventually got hooked on spending excess points on Switch Icons. The FOMO for certain series is at the level where I'll buy characters and backgrounds I know for a fact I will never use.
My Nintendo has been such a big downgrade from Club Nintendo but it's at least getting better and better overtime, despite it being over a long time. I did make a video saying not many people even know it exits so I'm hoping they improve and expand it even more for the next generation.
Great video as always. I remember from last year you reviewed your own predictions to see how much of the percentages you got right, will you make one again, and could we expect it in December or January? *I your voice*:"I predict we have a 70 percent chance to see such a video by the end of December, but I won't rule out that we would get smaller videos surrounding last year's predictions, before going into the new year. Ultimately, I think such a video would likely surface during the holidays, but I would not exclude them to be there past the holidays, going into the new year of 2025. Therefore I predict that a video reviewing all predictions would have happened before the end of January 2025. In relation to a video containing such content, it also seems like a lot of predictions have been made about the switch 2 launch in particular, so I wouldn't rule out a video reviewing those predictions in particular, but that would only make sense after the actual announcement for the new console. With that information I think there is a 70 percent chance we would get a video reviewing the switch 2 predictions within 1 month after the initial launch of the new system."
It all makes sense now WHY the program is so shitty to use compared to Club Nintendo. It feels cynical with how they're doing it. It makes too much sense for data collecting NOT to be the reason it is they way it is. It honestly makes me feel stupid for joining in the first place. I love Nintendo's products but for the stuff they offer, having data and interests harvested like that just feels wrong and I don't think Nintendo has any incentive to change it anytime soon.
I am hearing rumors that Nintendo will link PHYSICAL games to Nintendo Accounts. The idea is that if I play physical game X on my Switch 2, I won't be able to resell it because the game will be linked to my Nintendo Account. Has anyone heard this too?
@@KilleRoy_NL Yup, there's a menu you can go into to gain some gold coins from every physical card you own... provided you do so up to two years after purchase. After that, and the coins expire.
Bear in mind you can only get gold points from physical games within 2 years of purchase, so if you’re buying preowned or trying to get the gold on your old games you can’t get the points outside that time frame

nintendo for the most kept in the race stayiing the video game indyustry race for more than 4 decades almost 5 but their has been some poor decisions and even sketchy that has been made over time by the company. Back in 90's when they droped the partnership for an improved cd based console with sony for philps they flat out made more competition for themself and blundered with. Next was the decision to keep n64 a catridge based consol rather than use cd had killed its third party support, even though catridge lead to little to no load times it limited the storage space game developers for that console had to work with. This same mistake was repeated on the gamecube as well. Though during that era third party support was poor the quality of games nintendo pumped out was gold which in my book is what kept them in the race and allowed them to build a name for themself up until save for few scew ups till 2008. In 08 after having a strong start at thar year, coming to e3 expo empty handed with nothing but mediocre game catered towards casual audience with nothing for the core was really terrable call on nintendo's part. Thankfully 09 and 10 thankfully turn that around until the dark ages fell. The time the 3ds & wii u released nintendo had truely fell from grace. By not having a strong online platform, store and with locking game save data to consol rather than having alt forms to store such data has really been some terrable design and calls on the companys part though game line up early on the 3ds were somewhat strong. To makes matters worse nintendo refused to listen to the feedback of thier fans (^not the moronic side of it) feedback to include wanted features (online pay for virtual consol)and games to console while also releasing alot mediocre trash on thier consoles. (Metroid Prime: Federation Force, Mario party 10, mario kart barebone 8,, paper mario barebone bland star&color crap, star fox zero control, animal crossing fail festival, chibi lash out, and hey pikmin) Though Iwatas leadership was strong in those year, other leaders and manager really blunder in that era of nintendo. By time the nintedo switch was Is announced the 2017 thing started to look up, as like we were out of the dark ages with games like Mario kart 8 deluxe, Mario odissey and more but when Nintendo gave out more information about nintendo online service, I knew we were not out of the wood yet. Not bring back the virtual console and locking games behind the subscription and not being able to buy them flat out was just scummy, though being able to play them along the 20 usd and euro a year quite affordable is nice but lacking. To make matter worse later on with the downfall of gamefreak&tpi with thier poor management with the higher starting with pokemon let go casual and lets go cash crab, there pracetice if barebone content and already poor history of cutting content has really took a turn for the worse. The was later made relevant with the dexit/dexcuts of sword/shield along with alot of Previous generation features being left out of the games has really hurt the library nintendo switch mainlly due to pokemon being a major ip nintendo own 33% of. Followed by the trashfire that was bdsp, and s/v has really put a dent in it. With animal crossing new horizans, a ton of features were left out from the start and by the time the final update was released aside from the customizations it had way less content than new leaf with no minigames, less bugs& fish to catch and fewer upgrades. It was like a trend with some nintendo games were they released the game unfinish and barely finish the developments of it in later updates. Lastly with charging 50 usd yearly with the expansion pass to have access to nintendo 64, and gba games is just a rip off.
The newest numbers recorded were 366 million Nintendo accounts
Good point, I recorded this before the latest update. I'll pin your comment.
Most of them were for Miiverse I bet.
Never understood why the less valuable coins were called platinum.
I call them Gray coins
Shouldve been silver instead
Platnium lets me buy things, gold just saves money

Haha I do exactly the same!
sure love playing mobile games to get coins
I mean, that is literally 90% of mobile games lol
I completely forgot this service existed because I basically never got a deal that mattered

Achievement destroy immersion.
You'd think they'd do more coasters in the UK. I regret sleeping on the Pikmin 3 Deluxe Coaster Set when it was available.
I would be nice to have a proper achievement system tied to My Nintendo when playing games.
I feel like it would devalue games. If it's opt in, that's fine, but I don't want to ever see it myself
Master plan!
Thanks for making this video :D
Took way longer than I expected but got there in the end!

Sorry, had too much fun typing that
I don’t like how the coins expire, get rid of that part and it’s fine

Awesome video but why was I spammed with schizophrenia ads on this video 💀
I cannot imagine wasting time chasing all of these grey coins doing all this random nonsense when I have years of backlog
I did not like any of the mobile games and i buy physically so i never get golden coins...😢
You can redeem them from physical games if you press + on a game in the home menu I think
@KilleRoy_NL but only within a year and they give less points. But yeah, I got some from preordered games.

as usual n does something pretty cool in Japan and neuters it before sharing with other regions
Nintendo merch is the worst. I want them to licence fan art, something with passion, not sterile Mario on a plastic whatever
Club Nintendo was so much better than My Nintendo.
Still the most pointless thing if you don’t buy newer games in one year.
