People are silly. My friends are convinced my 2005 Legacy GT is slow because it's four cylinders. Like they can't figure out why WRXs sound the way they do. Had to beat my friend's 2015 Jeep 2x4 to show him that a 2.5L 4 cylinder engine is literally bigger than his 2.4L 6 cylinder and his SUV weighs a half ton more than my car. I'm not only minded on imports as well, love my Acura MDX and Subaru, but If I had the money I'd be fucking around with a Hellcat and some older American muscle frames or trying to fix up an older Corvette.

I can see why, you came from an 06 Mustang. Not sure if you noticed but American cars have really stepped up. 2015 Mustang, Shelby GT350, 2016 Camaro SS, Turbo 4's in both lineups, and Dodge's Hellcat lineup.
Richard Quant the 4.6L engine in the mustang of the era was so bad. It's a pig. The 2010 gt had 315hp. The 2011 had 412. My 2015 mustang gt has 435 and does 0-0 in 4.5 seconds. The mustang was pretty shit back then, because there were no other muscle or pony cars to fight with, Mustang was the only one. The pony car segment is back and pretty damn big, so you have better cars now than back then. Furthermore, the wrx/sti is just stagnant right now. The WRX is pretty great right now, but the 2015 sti has an engine over a decade old, and is still working with the same hp it was years ago. Long story short, you went from one of the worst mustangs, to one of the best wrxs.
+1991tommygun boxer motors are among the most reliable if not the most reliable engine designs I'm a chevy guy but the way those engines function they're damn near bullet proof you've got guys running 40lbs of boost on a stock long block
I own a 2013 Sti. I just did a Cobb 20g with 1000cc injectors, waiting to get tuned by Cobb tomorrow. Also going E85. I can take Mustangs off the launch with my stage 2 but my car looses breath after 80mph+ so I get walked on pretty bad. Stage 2 I put down 328 wtq but that peak power only last like 500-1000 rpm then drops off while im WOT lol it sucks. Power curve is like a needle at stage 2. The Cobb 20G turbo will rememdy that top end and with the power curve the 20G, it should pull hard all the way to redline. SHould be seeing close to 400 to the wheels. That should take out 5.0 Mustangs. I have driven mustang 5.0's before and what I notice is that they arent as nimble as the STi. I can bust U turns on 2 lane streets with the Sti and also take high speed 90 degree intersection turns very fast and the car stays pllanted. THe mustang has a wider turning radius and its heavy as fuck to take high speed sharp 90 degree turns. You will end up making a wide turn and end up in the far lane vs my STi I will end up on the inside lane.

I went from 2014 Mustang GT to 2016 Subaru STI. What a difference in everything. I loved the Coyote engine in the stang but everything els is just bad.

4 cyl tuner cars were never designed for 1/4 mile drag racing they truly are in their element when pushed around a tight track where the benefit of light weight tight handling with a strong engine come together to deliver a balanced drive a tuned up V8 powered car is happiest on the 1/4 mile where its weight and stability put the power down well, they can be a real handful on tight tracks where the massive change in directions and weight roll with gobs or torque can really unsettle the handling and put huge stress through the chassis and driver. Any one whos driven both in both condition will know what I mean, for a street car for me I would take the STI for the all round enjoyment I'd get from day to day driving. If I was doing heaps of straight line racing you can't go past the simple tuneability of force fed V8s though, its all a compromise one way or another
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the STI require a higher level of involvement in regular street driving (like driving the piss out of it) than the lazy V8 power to just punch it and go? As such, I'd imagine the 5.0 to be a better daily driver...especially in an urban setting. Right?
Haha for real people hating, Ive wanted an sti since I was 16 but I still have a 4.6 GT mustang and its a surprisingly quick car. I beat a surprising amount of cars that make more hp, its pretty quick for what it is

***** I used to have an 05 sti i know they are quick off the line, but once you start rolling is game over for the STi unless is got a bigger turbo. Mustang GT 2011 or newer are faster. I can race an Sti off the line, he will get the jump on me, but at 100mph or so i will catch up and pass him with no problem
Just saying I work as a mechanic for John deere, drive ford and chevy trucks including diesel and live a genuine country boy life in iowa, my next vehicle will be an sti, more for awd and mpg bit also for the turbo and the insane power potential they have, not to mention the boxer engine which is both naturally balanced and robust

Most Sti drivers can't launch their car hard enough at the track because they are not good at it or their afraid to break something. This driver was an exception. Stock sti can run 12s all day with a driver. It's all in the launch of you get a strong launch you can create a significant amount of distance between you and the other car. A weak launch against a new 5.0 is giving the race away. You might as well not even try.

You can compare the performance of the mustang against any car, but is not about that, Mustang is a cars lovers symbol, if you are looking for performance, you will find better or worse cars, but with mustang is about love, if you can't appreciate a mustang, is just not the right car for you.
The 5.0 has 235 in the back can't even get traction. I know because I got the base model 5.0. Slap on a pair of 265-75 and you'll see a huge difference from a dig no spinning at all
funny thing to I've neaten multiple stangs with there freakin loud exhausts and my 02 wrx has a sti exhaust that isn't loud whatsoever. so not all "little kid" cars have "coffee cans" for exhaust….and on the plus side insurance is CHEAP for sits and wrxs if you don't crash or get tickets simple issue resolved

In an 1/8th mile drag smaller lighter cars and especially awd &rwd cars thrive. There's a track here where I've seen gt500 mustangs lose to 60s and 70s vw beetles. Now in a 1/4 its a totally different story. I'm an import fan mainly because 0-60 is what's most important to me. Yeah you can hit 160 on the street in a SS or 5.0 but good luck staying out of jail doing it.

AWD > RWD when it comes to launches. AWD can put power down quickly and easily without losing grip. I've seen Evos and STIs all run 12s with just a mild tune.

2018 5.0 vs 2018 sti (stock) AND the sti still looses. What people don't understand is that with the sti you can do crazy ass mods and literally compete with vettes and gtr. But think about it, you invest from 10k-15k or even more in most cases to make an sti FAST. I think with today's economy most people would rather pay 28k for a 5.0 than spend the same amount of money on a slower sti. I like v8s, v6s at pretty good and I hadn't had the opportunity to drive a four cylinder yet. Might be getting an 06 subaru sti soon.

I used to have an 05 sti i know they are quick off the line, but once you start rolling is game over for the STi unless is got a bigger turbo.
Mustang GT 2011 or newer are faster.
I can race an Sti off the line, he will get the jump on me, but at 100mph or so i will catch up and pass him with no problem

Most Sti drivers can't launch their car hard enough at the track because they are not good at it or their afraid to break something. This driver was an exception. Stock sti can run 12s all day with a driver. It's all in the launch of you get a strong launch you can create a significant amount of distance between you and the other car. A weak launch against a new 5.0 is giving the race away. You might as well not even try.

The 5.0 has 235 in the back can't even get traction. I know because I got the base model 5.0. Slap on a pair of 265-75 and you'll see a huge difference from a dig no spinning at all
zander collins, stis and wrxs are not expensive at all to fix, just takes time and hard work, although i love all american muscle cars
funny thing to I've neaten multiple stangs with there freakin loud exhausts and my 02 wrx has a sti exhaust that isn't loud whatsoever. so not all "little kid" cars have "coffee cans" for exhaust….and on the plus side insurance is CHEAP for sits and wrxs if you don't crash or get tickets simple issue resolved

In an 1/8th mile drag smaller lighter cars and especially awd &rwd cars thrive. There's a track here where I've seen gt500 mustangs lose to 60s and 70s vw beetles. Now in a 1/4 its a totally different story. I'm an import fan mainly because 0-60 is what's most important to me. Yeah you can hit 160 on the street in a SS or 5.0 but good luck staying out of jail doing it.

AWD > RWD when it comes to launches. AWD can put power down quickly and easily without losing grip. I've seen Evos and STIs all run 12s with just a mild tune.

2018 5.0 vs 2018 sti (stock) AND the sti still looses. What people don't understand is that with the sti you can do crazy ass mods and literally compete with vettes and gtr. But think about it, you invest from 10k-15k or even more in most cases to make an sti FAST. I think with today's economy most people would rather pay 28k for a 5.0 than spend the same amount of money on a slower sti. I love the imports but honestly we are in thst era where muscles cars & pony cars are the new thing again. (Hellcat, Zl1,Gt350, Zr1) The people who say imports are still the trend are way off. Have you guys seen the sales for Gtr, 370z, and type R? They are bad here in the U.S. The mustang sold the most units in 2018 btw. Imo imports are dead
