    • @martyrsvale

If nobody else has mentioned it, I've learned from some other videos that if you have Thaumcraft and the requisite extra mods to let it work with TiC (Thaumic Tinkerer?), you can make thaumium components that also add modifiers, and it's higher quality and durability than paper. Oddly, though, you can't smelt it, you have to work it with wood stencils like it was stone. It works in The CrackPack for 1.7.10.

Longswords are a traveler's best friend; that lunge attack is much more useful than for just combat! If you time it with your jump, you can either perform a high or long jump--scale a 5 block wall or clear a massive ravine with a well timed Lunge! The Lunge can be used MID-AIR (the trick of course to timing it with jumps) so that if you're falling towards a ledge you might not make, a lunge can close the distance for you and possibly save you from a fatal fall! (WARNING: Performing a longsword high-jump on flat ground will cause fall damage. Climbing even a single block in elevation will circumvent the danger, however. Lunging mid-fall will not cancel fall-damage, be wary, traveling acrobats!)

for the cleaver, depending on the modpack you can use Thaumium and Magic Wood for even more modifier slots, and i found Lumium to be the best early/mid material for the blade. i think you can get as many as 10. i put Beheading 5, Looting (Max), and sharpen it to be able to one shot Wither Skeletons.
also for the Rapier, it causes the mobs to not have moments of immunity, making it really good for bosses.
