I started with the d50 10 years ago when it was already old. Then I changed to d3300 and eventually got the d500 but I'm super nostalgic when I review my old d50 shots. There is something special about the colours.
Old CCD Sensors are lovely, that's why i still shoot them. Still have my D100, D70s & D40, bought all back into its heyday. Nowadays, don't want to lug heavier FF gear, always.
This video is a prove that Street Photography can be done with any camera So to all of you out there Buy cheap and get golden results Thank you for this amazing POV It will be nice if you can do a black and white POV using this camera Try it out because these old sensors have their own magic when there is enough sun light Happy new year mate …
This old camera is awesome, love the feel and ergonomics. The colors are vivid and punchy. Yes the 2gb card capacity is limiting but i can still get cards. The viewfinder is 2" but at 6mp its a sleeper and i preferr it over my d7000 as a my street camera and go to carry along.
A D-50 tip worth knowing: I have been able to use a 4gb SD (non-HC) by formatting it in a computer (FAT-32) rather than in camera. Not all 4 GB SD cards work but the cheapest Kingston's have been successful.
I love that you're giving people a chance to get into photography with giveaways like this. Regarding the lense, do you guys think its worth to add to a prime collection? (a 50 and an 85 1.8, I also own the holy trinity 2.8 but the 1.8 is sick)
I LOVE this! It’s very fun to see an old camera like this being used like you use your modern Sony cameras! Btw, did you notice any difference in the CCD sensor compared to the cmos sensors you’re used to? I’ve heard people say they love how CCD sensors look. Happy new year!
I find the strength is that if there is noise, it doesn't look terrible - you can just let it be noisy instead of having to avoid pushing the shadows as much. With my Sony A100, the amount I could pull from the shadows (at ISO 100, which I think is the native ISO; It's really hard to find info about the native ISO of stills cameras for some reason) was pretty amazing. There were no weird colour shifts when doing so either. My main issue was my failing to get the camera to ETTR - it really insists on overexposing, and that's a big problem when there is no live view. Since the older sensor isn't as sensitive, the noise (though pleasing) will appear earlier.
Nowadays, lenses do have less character, everything's being optimized for sharpness - less character, imperfections, and mostly flat rendering - which is boring as hell. But these nowadays old Sensor DSLRs do deliver, still. And it's exactly the same fun - as bought into it's heyday. APS-C/DX is worlds being bigger, than any smartphone Sensor, seriously. And whileas the pixel pitch is low, usually 6-10 MP, it does really shine, from tonality & rendition.
I'd love to know how you edited those photo's because I have a t2i and I feel like I've gotten some REALLY good shots for a beginner, and while I can feel the idea or mood I want to edit I just don't have the technical skills yet for it lol. So maybe can you do a breakdown on how you edited those photo's?
The shots looks awesome 🤧 I have my D50 for a couple of years gifted by my uncle but I think I haven't used it's full capacity 😅 i only have the kit lens, idk if it's the lens or editing 🥲
That was my very first Nikon digital camera. I bought it new and paid a bunch of money for it. I remember taking it to the Statue of Liberty and got amazing images!. Thanks for your post.
I bought a D50 just last week. I teally don't know if something's wrong with it or if I am doing it wrong, but the pictures are worse than a simple picture with my phone, and on top of that, when I put it on manual, it doesn't take pictures. I can only take pictures in auto-mode. What am I doing wrong?
Just dug my D50 out as you've inspired me to try night shots. Beautiful neon lights are a burst of dazzling colour. 😀 I was lucky to be given the camera along with the original lens as well as a 300 zoom and macro by a guy who no longer used it. 😀
Oh damn, I have the D40X and just wanted to see what was possible with those exact lens specs and your video is just perfect for that! Cheers mate, I will check out your other videos as well!
Hi i liked this video, i have got my hands on a d50 with kit lense. I want to buy either the 35mm 1.8 for this camera or the 50mm 1.8, which one should i get? Thanks! Edit: actually based on the prices, I'll defo go with 50mm since its much cheaper
I am working on developing my photography account and having a camera would be very useful and I never tried working with different cameras and the NikonD50 would be a good way to start working with different digital cameras.
Yes. I like this kind of video. Camera is like a car... If you drive it well. They still can bring you to places. Of course.. the experience and somethings may be different but for alot of cases. They still work. On the other hand if you cant drive.. then no matter what car you have. It just wont work.

@@DVAmarkeraokey thank you. I don‘t know a lot about fotography and i‘m very new to it (I‘ve only shot film so far and on my iPhone) so I‘m glad for every advice. So you‘re saying it‘s important to choose a lens that is special for night time fotography, right?
I’m confused. What lense did he use? The two he put in the caption are both for Sony cameras not Nikon. If anyone could let me know the size and brand of lense he used for the Nikon d50 shots I’d greatly appreciate it. I am buying a Nikon d50 this Friday but I’d like to get a nice lense for it. I’m new to photography and want to specialize in night street photography
I just got one from eBay which was sold "for parts" $30aud. It had a sticky grip, but after I cleaned it up and chucked in a new battery and SD card itnall works fine. Shutter count was 5500 at the time of purchase. Bargain.
NIKON D50 I really wanted to have this Nikon d50 cuz I've always wanted to start photography but can't afford one, I would love to win this Nikon d50. Thanks for the chance. Happy New Year!! 🥳🥰
The Nikon D50 would be a great nostalgic addition to my collection of Nikons. I have the D90 and the Zfc. Plus I would love to give it a go, because for the last month I have been using old point and shot cameras (from Olympus) just to relive the experience of using them. Thanks for the giveaway @neklamp
I’m 2 years into my street photography journey and would love the opportunity to use the Nikon D50 to see what I can shoot with it. Thanks Nelson #image3street

I loved the video with the Nikon D50 and the 35mm has me wondering if I should buy a 35 myself. Love the idea of having a cheaper camera. As a starting photographer, I always get those moments where I'm just going along with my day, see something and go: "Man, I wish I had my camera on me, this would be such a cool shot!" But I'm too scared to carry my more expensive camera around everywhere and every day. I try with my phone but it never gets it as a camera sensor would, so I really think having a cheaper camera that I could take everywhere and not worry about it so much like that NIKON D50 would come in so handy to capture all those moments. Happy new year, @rchaves_photography
As a 15 year old photographer with a Canon 4000d, kit lens and a very low budget for a new lens, i found this very very inspiring, thank you Sam :) @YtrikX
That Nikon D50 looks incredible in low light, performed really well. I wish I were able to buy it even in second hand but alas that is not the case. My current camera does okay but I want to up my night photography and I reckon this will do the trick. @fentonsphotographs

I love this kind of video with "outdated" equipment. This nikon D50 would be the perfect birthday present for my daughter. She is going to be 10 and loves photography she is constantly borrowing people's phones to take pictures. I was thinking of getting her a polaroid but this little SLR would be perfect for her. @zihalf
Would love the NIkon D50 as it would be an upgrade from my currently 12 year old setup, whilst it treats me fine as demonstrated in this video this camera would be able to perform much better in low light scenarios which i believe are some of the best much love, @opophoto_

If you have 35mm, getting 85 would be better as 50mm wont make a huge difference at all. In my personal experience.
heyy! i love your pov w' the d7000. Is there any chance that i can get your camera setting?
Ah yes, new video! Thank you for always dropping BANGER POVs🔥

I thought the photos looked a bit more pleasing than normal personally. A bit more filmic
I find the strength is that if there is noise, it doesn't look terrible - you can just let it be noisy instead of having to avoid pushing the shadows as much. Always great to see the capabilities of this old tech. Banger shots! Would be interesting to see these printed. Wish you all the best for ‘23!
Wonderful video as always. Can I assume that your setting is aperture priority at F1.8 and Iso 200 with shutter speed set on auto?
He literally says in the video he is shooting in M
These are honestly some of my favorite shots from a POV.
That was my very first Nikon digital camera.
I bought it new and paid a bunch of money for it.

The photos look very pleasing!!! Noticeably different than the Sony. Great video thank you
The d50 retains the autofocus motor ditched on later models so autofocus is likely to work on f mount lenses that lack an internal autofocus motor.
can u share the white balance setup u used for this camera?

Good motivation to go out at night with my m4/3 Olympus. Skills > gear❤

I have a old Nikon d60 lying around with that same lense. It works great with lots of light but after iso 400 its pretty grainy.
Sell me it bro
This is quite inspiring because I’ve got a canon 700d with a couple lenses and have struggled with low light
I am working on developing my photography account and having a camera would be very useful and I never tried working with different cameras and the NikonD50 would be a good way to start working with different digital cameras.

Пробуйте доступный 85мм либо 70-300 VR в том числе новые аналоги. 17-70 сигма так же хорош. Начать с 55-200 II VR - не самая плохая идея
Thankful for this video man! it really motivated me to pickup my d50

So your photo are 50mm because of crop sensor or they are 35mm?
35mm lens equates to 52,5mm on the D50 due to the APS-C sensor.
So cool to see you in Australia! Awesome video man!!
