I used this toner for a while 15 years ago after a bout of terrible adult acne after having my daughter. The thing about this toner is that it also moisturizes your skin and the exfoliant effect quickly goes away after using it. I swear it changed my skin, it worked super fast and it healed my skin beautifully. It does smell weird, but it goes away quickly.
Buy it !!! It does make a big difference and also i did try using some of the drug store brands but what BR products usually do to your skin makes you wonder why you would ever stray. For example I tried using cerave moisturizing skin for the entire winter of 2021 . My skin sort of lost the lustre and also I ended up with some clogged pores that lead to scarring. No matter what course of action I use the scarring is always there..pretty disappointing. Switched back to using P50 pigm and now the glow is back. I also used BR’s liposmose for undereye. Excellent product that delivers. Yes they are all pricey but you do need very less of the amount and they do deliver most of what they state to do. Never straying or experimenting again. I usually buy or invest in one new serum every 6 months and from them choose to narrow down to a selected few. I don’t spend my money on any makeup and honestly need very little makeup.
Me too. I use it and like it but always suspected you could get the same effect cheaper and more easily. I was thrilled to find there is a salon that sells it over the counter in Singapore. It is next to impossible to get in the U.K. the online store that has it is always sold out. The mystique is strong.
I love this stuff. I use it almost every night and the bottle I buy lasts almost a whole 12 months. So, IMO, it is not expensive at all, although shelling out that much at once can be a hindrance.
I’ve used this for years and absolutely love it and my skin has never looked better. Luckily, I never experienced any sensitivity. It’s a great value, even the travel size bottles last for ages.
Hands down, one of my favorite skincare products. I don’t understand how this is formulated so differently than other exfoliants, but I really can’t find anything comparable. I know that there are cheaper alternatives, and if those work for you, do it. For me- this is, so far, the only exfoliant that I’ve used that is gentle enough for my rosacea and my Tret (been using Tret for years), but also one that I can see great results with. Other exfoliants that I have tried either didn’t do anything, caused breakouts, aggravated my rosacea, or wrecked my barrier. The P50 started clearing up my closed comedones, that had been hanging around for years, after a couple of weeks. I honestly don’t feel like it’s that expensive either. The medium sized bottle can last me a year with using it 3x a week. Now that my husband and I both use it a few times a week, I get the big bottle and, again, it lasts a year. A cheaper alternative is only a cheaper alternative if it works for you.
The combination of this in addition to a couple other BR products have literally saved my skin. I’m 43 and had combo fussy skin with frequent breakouts. I tried everything, and I mean everything, before finding the BR brand thanks to UA-cams Abby Bliss White. I can’t express how grateful I am to have found this line. This product in particular is a game changer when used properly. Thank you fir another informative review.

Totally. I suffered from acne for 15 years, i tried all possible medications including tretinoin. P50 1970 is the ONLY toner that works for me. I am skeptical at first but you have to use it consistently to see its magic. Looking at the ingredients does not work for this one. The formulation matters. This is also Dr. Shereen idriss favorite toner.
I actually do think this product is magical and well worth the money. I’ve used the others mentioned, it is worth investing in the P50 - I use it daily and a bottle lasts a full year using once a day. Won’t be without it and neither will my 23 year old daughter (drastically helped her acne).

I don't really think that the P50 is like any other exfoliator. I live in Europe and I prefer to use few products from the popular brands from the pharmacies. I don't really like to spend a lot of money in products that can work as well as the high end ones. But I've tried other exfoliators in the market for my adult acne and I don't see changes more than an increased irritation. This product (without phenols) is well formulated for my skin. I don't care much about the other products from the brand, but I don't think I will change this exfoliator any time soon.
P50 is expensive but sooooo effective. Especially for those with adult acne. And it lasts. I buy one large bottle about once a year using it about 2-3 times per week.
Hey Dr. Dray! Wanted to thank you for recommending the Walgreens Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50! It has worked well, leaves a white cast (but sinks in quickly and the cast is manageable enough for me 😊), doesn’t sting or burn around the eye area, and stays put (doesn’t rub off easily on surfaces compared to other mineral sunscreens I’ve tried in the past), as well as being so affordable for $2.99 & 3 oz of product! Tysm! 😄🙌🏻

I started using the P50W every night 2 weeks ago & had some purging after 3 days in the form of tiny bumps all over my face. It only lasted for a week and despite the bumps, my skin looked & felt amazing.
Best to use any p50 with gentle, balm or milk cleansers - not foaming... the product can be irritating if you strip your skin with the wrong cleanser before use. When you try to buy from a registered stockist they will usually try to steer you toward buying one of their cleansing milks but any good mild non foaming cleanser will do...
Happy Wednesday Dr. Dray! Glad you were finally able to get to this because I know so many people have been requesting this. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! Sending my regards to Mother Dray and Tybee.
I have used the PS 1970 for many years... for me, it's nothing short of a miracle product ..... right up there -- equal-- to highest strength Rx Retin-A. Using PS in the morning and Retin-A at night. It is absolutely worth the price... and the so-called 'hype' is just noise. I personally think it smells fine to my sensitive nose. Can't imagine not having it in my collection. Thank you, Dr. Dray. I love every one of your videos. Stay well!
p.s. After weeks of searching, I found the PS 1970 and walked over to Paul LaBrecque Spa to purchase. They've a very high level of professionalism, are kind and generous with samples. Try their Masque Vivant! No, I do not work for or with them.
@@loveyourskin3786 .... Sorry-- I typed it in wrong...I meant Biologique Recherche Lotion P1970. I do love it ! I know I would not have the skin I have if I didn't use it every day. Btw--- kind of an unusual scent but it's really not even a minor issue. Good luck to you !
Glad to see this finally reviewed by Dr. Dray! Personally, I’ve tried various exfoliators and the P50 lotion does not compare to any. I’m using the regular version (as 1970 is banned) and this stuff is amazing. I highly recommend getting a facial with BR for anyone that loves their products - the experience is amazing ;)
I buy this product from Rescue Spa and love it as well as their service. I do get emails from them but, like you said, they aren’t frequent or obnoxious. I would love for you to review any of BR’s other products
I love the people at Rescue Spa, they are so incredibly helpful! Using their customer service is like no other! They will recommend products based on a comprehensive questionnaire. And are always so nice! So different than any other spa out there.
"Calm down!" LOL Oh how I adore Dr Dray!! Great information. It is such a relief for your consistent reminder that it is not ever necessary to buy expensive, grossly over priced skincare.
Thanks Andrea for this thorough review. Yes, its a great product and Yes it smells like anatomy class. Unfortunately, the odor is obvious. I have sensitive skin but this product thus far is agreeing with my dermis. You made a good point about the "niche" of this product, you are right the fact that its not easy to buy, its not really hyped in social media makes this product stand out from a lot of the skin products out there. That's the appeal.
"One day they are going to say you can drown in water and it' s an ingredient that can kill you." Could not stop laughing, so true, STOP FEAR MONGERING!
@@joanofarc33 It’s like when I asked my OBGYN what the actual risk of blood clotting in the legs is when using certain oral contraceptives. She was like “oh EWS causes that fear mongering. yes the chance is slightly higher, but it goes from a normal 1 in 100,000 chance to like 1.1 in 100,000 chance. And anyone who was studied for blood clots in the legs while using BC had issues of them or family with blood clotting. They make it seems like its gonna kill you from that alone.”
Thanks for this review. Love that I can search your videos and find thorough, knowledgeable and thoughtful information about practically any beauty product.
This product is $12.50 per ounce. That is actually cheaper than some of the alternative products (LRP, Paula’s choice and bliss) you listed in the description.
I think Dr Dray has a bias against pricy skincare products. Just because something is pricey doesn’t imply it’s not effective. P50 was life changing for my skin, and an $80 bottle lasts me a year - basically the cost of sunscreen.
Can you use this with a retinol? I’ve head you absolutely cannot mix the two, but then i’ve seen people use both p50 1970 and retinol together! I’m so confused Please Please Please give me your take!
I will never forget putting phenol (from the podatrist from a plantar wart removal) on my leg as a teenager. The scar, which was deep red and initially sunken, didn't fade until my 30s. That's why I was afraid of original P50. I don't know why it didn't occur to me that this obviously wouldn't be the same concentration.
Good to see you pop up! I’m currently bingeing all your videos yet again as I’m experiencing a compromised skin barrier due to too many topicals, serums, essences in too little time. Going back to keeping it simple. One product I just introduced to jump start the healing process is Aveeno Oat Calm+Restore (cleanser, serum and gel). I. Am. LOVING. It!! So grateful for you and all the info you share Dr. Dray!! I never would have tried this line if it wasn’t for you. ♥️
Thank you for reviewing this! Can you please review their placenta serum for acne and hyperpigmentation? I don’t wanna splurge on it without a review I can trust 😣😣
YES!! Excellent review recommendation! Please, Dr. Dray, do a review on BR placenta serum, so many women have hyperpigmentation, and as K.O.Voss stated it's a pricey serum so it would be so great to hear your thoughts and get your expertise on it first before splurging.
The timing of this could not be any better! Thank you! My dermatologist recently recommended this as her top choice for an exfoliating toner. From my own research I came to the same conclusion that while it looks good it is not entirely unique to the current market so decided to try other more affordable options to see if they give me the desired results first. I was using the PC BHA but she wanted me to switch to a more AHA based exfoliant for my dry skin, made sense to me. The brand is new and kind of sketchy with their reviews but looking to get INNBeauty Project’s “Down To Tone Resurfacing Acid Toner” as it has a seemingly good mix of AHA and BHAs plus Niacinamide.
Dr. Dray I was wondering if you used this product with the Peach Slices Acne Clarifying Cleanser. If not, what cleanser would you recommend? I am 77 and have adult acne and what I feel is the worst bumpy skin. My cheeks have little dots of whatever in them and the holes from the acne are horrific. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Love all your videos! Elaine
I love this stuff. I use the P50V version which is gentler and phenol-free. A little goes a long way. I dampen my cotton/bamboo pad with water and squeeze it as dry as I can, then I sprinkle about 5-6 drops of the product. It’s spendy but worth it. I tend to buy mine when I’m visiting family in France and buy it from official distributors. It works out cheaper than buying it from UK stockists (I.e. Liberty London).
@@qaana just my personal preference so It’s not so harsh on my skin. Plus it’s easy to use too much of the product on a dry cotton wool pad, as you automatically would want to wet the whole pad. By first dampening the pad with water I’m more mindful of using just the right amount of product (literally just a few drops). As I said it’s personal preference, I find that it’s still effective for me. It also means that my bottle of p50V lasts longer.
Great info and review. I’ve been using this product for a couple of years because I am acne prone. The smell doesn’t bother me and I love the tingle it gives. A little goes a long way. I’m going to give a couple of the others a try. It is pretty pricey. Thank you!
Love your videos dr dray! 🥰 could you talk about the truth/whether or not there is actually any benefit when using a facial contouring massager or doing things like Gua Sha/ jade rollers/ face “yoga” exercises? Is it just fufu crap or is it actually something that can contour and help with wrinkles over time?
I have struggled with acne in my 20s and now close to 30 I am once again having to deal with acne. The second time i started getting MASSIVE breakouts was about 6 months ago, and since then I have tried 2 -3 different brands/products etc and nothing worked for me, it actually got worse. Now I started using BR products after a discussion with a representative. The thing with this brand is thay they recommend the products according to your skin needs, so if some one bought the p50 but its too strong for them, its probably because its not for their particular skin type or needs. One more thing, they have specific instructions on how to apply the products and also how much of them to apply.Fod example the p50 is applied 5 drops on a wet cotton pad for the first week, with a patting motion onto the skin without repeating areas you already patted. So i guess for good results you need to apply it properly 😏
@@jomuldoon100 You will probably love it. P50V comes with and without phenol. The one without burns a little, but it is the one I use. I alternate nights with retin-A .05%. Good luck, hope you are pleased.

Dr Dray, Thank so much for sharing your knowledge. On a general basis do you consider that if using tretinoin such products ( biologique recherche) are adding anything? Thank you!
if you test the ph of this product against many others on the market it shows why it works so beautifully on the skin, and is probably why this is the closest thing you can buy to an in house chemical peel
I remember using one of their P50 lotions that smelled like vinegar and I looked at the ingredients and it had a high concentration of pure vinegar 😂 I never used it again after the first use.
This is my favorite exfoliant ever honestly but I like your comparisons and other options. Paulas choice works but leaves a slightly greasy film at least for me so the p50 1970 works much better for morning. The tarte knockout is the closest dupe but that is very vinegar smelling
I like to add a little water to a cotton pad before I apply P50 to the neck. It really helps dilute the product. Thanks for mentioning the benefit of phenol in the product. I remember a content creator saying it was added as a numbing ingredient but your explanation makes more sense.

Happy Wednesday Dr. Dray! Glad you were finally able to get to this because I know so many people have been requesting this. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! Sending my regards to Mother Dray and Tybee.
Morning!
U love it right can u tell which type I should go for
@@loveyourskin3786 .... Sorry-- I typed it in wrong...I meant Biologique Recherche Lotion P1970. I do love it ! I know I would not have the skin I have if I didn't use it every day. Btw--- kind of an unusual scent but it's really not even a minor issue. Good luck to you !
Is yours with phenol or without?
Glad to see this finally reviewed by Dr. Dray! Personally, I’ve tried various exfoliators and the P50 lotion does not compare to any. I’m using the regular version (as 1970 is banned) and this stuff is amazing. I highly recommend getting a facial with BR for anyone that loves their products - the experience is amazing ;)
Where do you live that the 1970 is banned?
@@9melissal canada does not sell the og p50.
@@9melissal It's banned in many parts of Asia too. We don't have all the 1970 versions here.
I have both versions here in US and honestly 1970 isnt as good for me as the original.
@@pickmeisha I thought the 1970 is supposed to be the original? If not, are you saying you use just the “P50” one?
Was literally going to purchase the p50w today. Dr. Dray never disappoints with these reviews.
Did you buy it?
Aaahwww I loved you pronunciation. Happy Wednesday everybody!
Thank you! 😃
I’ve tried a ton of liquid exfoliants and p50 1970 is the best I’ve tried.
I think I got a more intense result because I'm not on retinoids but I would definitely say it works better than other AHA/BHA toners lol
Happy Wednesday everyone :) Hope you're all wearing your sunscreen right now if the sun's still outside your windows.
Happy Wednesday
Happy Wednesday! I’m wearing my sunscreen 🧴
@@DrDrayzday hello Dr. Dray!
@@mabimorgan4316 good 👍 where I live is close to midnight right now but I will wear my sunscreen tomorrow when the sun's up
Enjoy your day 😊
I’ve never tried the other p50 lotions but i’ve tried so many exfoliants and NOTHING makes my skin looks and feel baby smooth like p50 1970.
"One day they are going to say you can drown in water and it' s an ingredient that can kill you." Could not stop laughing, so true, STOP FEAR MONGERING!
EWS is for purists. The folks who want to live off the grid eating organic fruit while wearing 100% organic cotton hemp blend clothing.
Environmental not Working Group. Flawless shade.
This product is $12.50 per ounce. That is actually cheaper than some of the alternative products (LRP, Paula’s choice and bliss) you listed in the description.
True, but those others are more concentrated peels/serums so you wouldn’t use nearly as much
I think Dr Dray has a bias against pricy skincare products. Just because something is pricey doesn’t imply it’s not effective. P50 was life changing for my skin, and an $80 bottle lasts me a year - basically the cost of sunscreen.
Thanks for all you do Dr. Dray. I appreciate that you’re so straight forward
After three years of faithfully following you every day your reviewing my holy grail and their masque vernix is magical
It truly is. There's nothing in Sephora and Ulta combined that will make your skin look like masque vernix.
I love vivant! That’s my absolute favorite!!! It is good 💩
Can you use this with a retinol? I’ve head you absolutely cannot mix the two, but then i’ve seen people use both p50 1970 and retinol together!
I’m so confused Please Please Please give me your take!
You had me until "embalming fluid".🏃🏻♀️lol.
Exactly...that’s when I paled👻☠️
over $100 to smell like embalming fluid 💀
This stuff could be the holy grail to end all holy grails, but if it smells like formaldehyde... nope!
Lol at the running emoji 😂
Me likey my embalming fluid 🧛🏻♀️✨
Glad to hear you like it 👍🏼👍🏼
And I totally agree with you regarding the design of the serum bottle. It is a pain in the you know what!! That definitely could be better.😆
Dr. Dray - Can you tell us if there are any good sunscreens in environmentally-friendly packaging?
Elaine
I've waited for this for soooooo long
I love this stuff.
But why you do you put it on wet cotton?whats the purpose? Thnxx
I literally just a couple of days ago thought to myself "Has Dr Dray ever reviewed P50?". LOL Great and thorough review as always.
Your skin has been looking wonderful for a few weeks. Even toned & glowing. Thought it was just Anthelios spf 100. Looking beautiful, Dr. Dray!! 😍
Here for this! I’ve tried the Sensitive skin one P50-W
How was it?
@@DrDrayzday I really liked it.. no irritation whatsoever for my sensitive skin! I would get it again (I got the smaller size)
@@DrDrayzday and I’m so glad you recommended the smaller size - that small size lasts a long while for anyone trying it!
What’s the purpose of the onion and horseradish in this? And I thought Apple cider vinegar was bad for skin?
Dr.Dray - thank you for demystifying skincare and ingredients! So helpful on so many levels.
She has videos on this. She says they don't really but if they feel good, they are fine.
I use the P50V (middle in strength) and love it and will continue using. I like it better than the Paula’s choice. Thank you for your truthful review.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Im currently using the Paula's Choice and I would like to try the P50V, you have just given me the little nudge I was looking for.
@@jomuldoon100 You will probably love it. P50V comes with and without phenol. The one without burns a little, but it is the one I use. I alternate nights with retin-A .05%. Good luck, hope you are pleased.
@@lynnhom6915 However BR suggests not using alternating as well with retinol hence I discontinued this.

Dr. DRAY Can you review the Agustinus Bader cream? I want to hear your thoughts on that! Thank you for always giving us your honest reviews and scientific knowledge in skincare 😊
Penn Smith Skincare has a video breaking this cream down and comparing it to the Victoria Beckham one which he helped formulate.
Thanks for covering this product. I was hesitant to using it due to all the fear mongering behind one of the ingredients.

Dr Dray, Thank so much for sharing your knowledge. On a general basis do you consider that if using tretinoin such products ( biologique recherche) are adding anything? Thank you!
“One day the EWG will realize you can drown in water and give it a bad rating” I died 😂
if you test the ph of this product against many others on the market it shows why it works so beautifully on the skin, and is probably why this is the closest thing you can buy to an in house chemical peel
I love this stuff, full stop. To the point where I don’t care what’s in it or what it smells like LOL
Amen! I can’t even conceive of not using this!
I’ve been using the Aveeno Mineral SPF50 and I’m liking it.

Happy Wednesday! Burgundy looks great on you!! 😊
Thank you! You too!
I remember using one of their P50 lotions that smelled like vinegar and I looked at the ingredients and it had a high concentration of pure vinegar 😂 I never used it again after the first use.
Hello Dr Dray, is this lotion safe to use during pregnancy? Thank you!
I appreciate how you keep things real - basic ingredients.... calm down folks 👍 love the honesty ✌️
Always informative and keeps it real! That’s why I’m here! ♥️
Hi Dr. Dray. Thank you for this review. As always your commentary and unbiased reviews are so refreshing. 😀
Thank you for this review. What moisturiser would you recommend using after this? Anything that must be avoided
I LIVE for this type of Dr Dray rant 😂😍
This is my favorite exfoliant ever honestly but I like your comparisons and other options. Paulas choice works but leaves a slightly greasy film at least for me so the p50 1970 works much better for morning. The tarte knockout is the closest dupe but that is very vinegar smelling
I like to add a little water to a cotton pad before I apply P50 to the neck. It really helps dilute the product. Thanks for mentioning the benefit of phenol in the product. I remember a content creator saying it was added as a numbing ingredient but your explanation makes more sense.
I think it’s called a lotion because in French a toner is called a lotion or lotion tonique, so tonique as for toner I imagine 🙃
Same with Korean and Japanese skincare, toner is called lotion.
Happy Wednesday dr Dray and everyone 😀 I worked near the Paul Lebreque salon in the early 1990s and actually purchased this product I have very sensitive skin and I think it did irritate it . I probably didn't use it correctly either .
