Don’t worry about the safety of the actor animals, the crew for this movie were praised for how well they treated the animals.
Unlike SOME movie producers.
Ahem.
Milo and Otis.
unlike some others...
@@madelinemcmillan4020 unfortunately
@@EntityKing1that ruined my childhood when I found out smh..
@@Im_lil_kennedy same here
i'm crying too. Don't worry
As soon as that music hits and shadows walks over that hill it’s too much 😭
Some fun facts about this movie: 1. All the animals were "professional" actors and the movie was praised for it's good treatment of the animals. All the water scenes were filmed in an indoor controlled water tank and any zoomed out scenes of the river used dummies. 2. The animals genuinely loved each other and were friends, there was no guidance or direction given for the dogs and Sassy reunion. 3. Recently, deleted scenes from the movie have surfaced online that expanded on Kate, the man who rescued Sassy and a bit of the animals journey.
Lies, the animals were all tortured except for the dummy cat going over the fall, I don’t mind though super funny seing cats freak out in the water
@@redsoxfox Except it's confirmed and well known that the animals in this were very well treated.
Thanks for playing though.
@@redsoxfox Wow. You are something else. Why is there messed up people like you in this world lol
@@redsoxfox nice b8 m8, I r8 it 8/8.
My uncle owned one of the puppies of the dog that played Chance
During the dogs' reunion with Sassy, when Chance trips and says, "Oops, gopher hole." The dog actor really did trip and MJF improvised that line.
me: not gonna cry
every single time shadow comes on screen: TEARS
I cry every time I watch this (for 30 years LOL)
I'm a 70 year old former pro boxer...I cry like a baby whenever I watch this movie! The best dog I've ever had was my golden retriever, so maybe that's why lol
I'm 23 and have three dogs I grew up with this movie and will forever be my favorite
I still cry too it’s ok I literally cried watching her reaction
Facts.
As a 90s baby, I watched this movie a lot when I was a kid. Such a wonderful adventure. Still want a Golden Retriever of my own someday thanks to it.
Watched it on my old and dusty small 90's TV, that comes with VHS tape slot many many times over...good times...
Speaking from experience, Goldens are the best 🥹
@rallytonight8491 it's pits for me
Having grown up with both german shepherd, golden retriever and whippets I have to say, dogs in general are the best.
The scene where Shadow says I taught you all you need to survive now all you need is how to say goodbye destroys
me to this day and even though I know he makes it the last scene where he slow over the hill breaks me as if he doesn’t come over that hill.
I cried well bawled like a baby when I first watched this movie it’s my favorite movie
Triva:
This movie is a remake of "the Incredible Journey" 1963, which is a movie based on the book of the same name.
The author wrote the book based on her 3 pets that she owned with her husband; An older bull terrier, a siamese cat, and a young labrador retreiver.
She described them as having an intense bond and friendship.
The original story has the three travel across/over the iron mountains in Canada.
Loved this movie since I was a kid, but I still cry just as much every time I watch it. Loved your reaction!
Three scenes traumatized me as a kid Sassy waterfall, Chance porcupine, and of course Shadow and the mudhole!😢
This movie made me weep every time as a kid. Especially because I had three cats AND a golden retriever who looked identical to Shadow. Years later, that dog (her name was Honey) didn’t come back from her own adventure. She ran off & was hit by a car when I was 13. But this movie always has a place in my heart because it makes me think of her. 💔♥️
I'm so sorry to hear that
Golden Retriever Shadow. American Bulldog Chance. And Sassy a Himalayan cat.
Yeah, this movie is a BIG tear jerker ❤
You have NO SOUL if you didnt cry while watching this movie XD
i was sobbing along w/ you girl! and...that little fart from your pooch...LMAO....
This movie is the litmus-test to see if a person has a soul or not
I had this on VHS!
The performance these animals did is mad amazing!
And of course, their trainers.
Sassy on the river is insane!
However, my favorite quote from Shadow.
" You've learned everything you need, Chance. Now all you have to learn is how to say goodbye.
Chance: I won't let you give up."
Frick....now I'm sad.
My German Shepherd is 9 and still gets skunk'd and freaks out over nothing. A puppy at heart lol
I cry every time at this scene, I think it's the music.
The porcupine part really traumatized me as a kid!
This movie was the first film that made me cry. I was 8 years old and had to learn about deep emotions.
Hey Kay great reaction I have always loved this movie also if you take requests can you do a reaction for spirit stallion of the Cimarron and your dogs are cute.
I loved when animal movies wouldn't move their mouthes. Milo & Otis, Black Beauty, and Babe are a few that are like that.
Only other movie that can make me ugly cry is Hachiko: A Dog's Story. Or Fluke from 1995 those two movies will make me cry every time. Their dog movies but Fluke is a more complicated story. It follows the theory reincarnation where a man who lost his life becomes a dog and has to figure things out. But still it was a rather sad movie. And for Hatchie I cried horribly in that film. But it still was worth the watch. both of them.
100%. Fluke is one of the most underrated movies of all time (with a great soundtrack) and Hachi is one of the best movies ever made.
Here's are two real life homeward bound stories (2:12 and 9:05)
/watch?v=2Lp1mkOXwRA
My favorite scene is when they catapult a mountain lion off a cliff, even though it totally defies physics! LOL
I’ve watched this movie 1000 times and I still scream TURN AROUND when shadow pops out
Upon reflection… this movie had ZERO chill!! 🤣🤣 I loved it soo! But so much angst
17:28 made me subscribe 😂
don’t be embarassed; I cry until it hurts every time I see Shadow limping over the hill
It would be nice if someone reacted to the original before this one came out. It's called the incredible journey,
Sappy movie indeed, and I enjoyed every minute. Tissues? Yes, please.
Another fine reaction from this channel! Thank you
Thanks Kay. Great reaction. You are for real.
They never explain how Shadow gets out of that hole.
Because he didn't
@@agnetasteam ??????????????????????
@@agnetasteamhe clearly did….
Chance helped him.
He eventually was able to climb out
I love this movie so much! One of my favorites :D awesome reaction! Made me tear up as well.
If i remember right chance is an amaerican pit bull or american bull dog or american boxer forgot which.
Great reaction to such an era-hallmark movie. beautiful dog of yours. is he a weirmereiner? (horrible spelling)
Chance is an American bulldog
I agree, I hate when movies have animals move their mouths when talking. Just throws me off. Only time I thought it was funny was in Men in Black w the Pug.
I can’t watch this movie without crying 😂😭😂
This is, hands down, my favorite movie of all time. I have literally been watching this movie since it came out and I cry every single time at the end, when shadow comes over the hill. The only part I have trouble watching is the sassy in the water part. If you haven’t seen the 2nd one, you should definitely watch it.
You should watch Turner and Hooch!
I enjoyed this reaction, this movie was always one of my favorites it still is, you gotta watch the 2nd one, lost in San Francisco
That one word cued up with the rest in the music! “Peter.” It just hits you like a ton of bricks!!!! 😭 So much credit to the late, great Don Ameche!!! He put so much emotion into just one word!!!! And of course, Bruce Broughton’s incredible music!!! Those 2 things combined are cinematic perfection!!!
Shiloh a dog movie 1996 it's also a really good film check it out.
I was 7 when i first saw this movie and cried so hard when Sassy went over the waterfall.
Why am I crying like goodwill hunting?
Because you have a soul.
I'm a grown man and I can't watch Shadow fall in the pit. I HAVE to walk out of the room or skip the scene entirely. Nope nope nope nope nope. Can't do it, won't do it.
I have the exact same reaction to Sassy going into the river. 😢
@@Karaokuma oof, yeah! That one killed me as a kid because growing up I loooooved cats. I've grown out of that one as I've gotten older as my wife's cat loooooves pissing on my shoes, my backpack I use to bring to work every day, on my side of the bed, the list goes on. I'm over cats lol.
I couldn’t watch this movie for years after the railway scene! 😢
Shadow is the bestest best boi!!!
You have to watch the second one too
Peter is right about Shadow, and he has the right to blame his Stepdad… I mean his stepdad doesn’t either believe or listen to Peter’s concern about Shadow thinking he’s going to be abandoned by Peter and he also has to leave the pets to the careless friend of his mom/ his stepdad’s wife
The scene with Shadow at the end always has me bawling
Why do you think a larger animal would have an easier time going over a waterfall? LOL that's not how physics works.
I definitely agree with you about the animals not moving their mouths like a human and letting their body language do a significant part of their communication. the cgi'd talking animals in more modern shows always felt weirder and more off-putting to me by comparison. the acting of these animals is really good too, and it really does feel like their body language matches what they are "saying"
The sequel is good too
Don Ameche, the voice of Shadow (See: 'Cocoon' & 'Batteries Not Included' & 'Bigfoot & The Hendersons'), was a good choice to be Shadows voice. Think the actor died shortly after the film came out!!!
What's crazy is I get teary way more as an adult than I ever did watching it as a kid
If you want to watch something with a similar formula to this, i suggest the cartoon, "brave little toaster". It has appliances instead of pets.
That was awesome Kay I love this movie I have this on DVD at home I use to have a golden retriever named simbed back in the 90s when I was a kid after he got sent to new owners I got a baby great Dane named ondray the giant after him I had a German shepherd named Pittsburgh like from the Steelers after he got sent to a new owner I have become a big German shepherd fan Kay you definitely gotta check out all three k-9 movies with Jim balushi
seeing shadow come over that hill is the happiest moment in cinema history
The sequel is worth watching too, some heartbreaking and warming scenes in there aswell❤
This goddamn movie... It's the whining of the animals that breaks me...
Plsss react to homeward bound 2
20:04.... he's re-incarnated in Sonic 3 in theaters this December
We had a childhood dog named shadow when I was a toddler I miss him RIP shadow
I love this movie (and the sequel)
Love this movie! So much! Can you please do a movie reaction to Homeward Bound 2 Lost In San Francisco
DUDE you got a lot of movies that nobody reacts to that’s really cool. I hope people catch onto it.
your pupper has beautiful eyes.
I was around 7 and or 8 when this movie came out and my siblings and I loved it. We loved it so much that we bought it on VHS and we constantly watched it. We all cried when Sassy went down the waterfall and we cried harder when Shadow fell down the dirt pit. We also cried really hard when Peter was waiting for Shadow after Chance and Sassy had come home. That movie is a staple in my childhood. It’s so good.
Should have kept some tissues handy. No matter how many times I see this I always get something in my eye at the end.
This movie brings tears to my eyes too
This was part of my childhood. Man it's been so long since I've seen this and that scene of shadow in the hole still hits me I'm right in the feels. Like even though I've seen this movie hundreds of times and I know he's ok and gets out. It still hits me in the feels like he isn't going to make it.
I wonder what her reaction would be to Schindler's List?
I remember watching this iconic film and sequel, Homeward Bound 2: Lost in San Francisco. They were amazing films and still are today. I must highly recommend these other canine loving films: Shiloh trilogy, Beethoven films, Balto, Snow Dogs, Air Bud films, and Eight Below.
🐶🐾 😉
awwwww you are soooooo cool
btw chance is a pit-bull
Barney is beautiful, what’s his breed?
Weimaraner
I believe Chance is a Pitbull
He's an American Bulldog.
You guys are so cute together :).
PS chance is a American pitbull.
He's actually an American Bulldog the American Pitbull is a little different
@@theashenogre8948 oh right
This movie both breaks and heals my soul. It is.... Foundational... For me.
You should do "All Dogs go to Heaven" if you haven't already.
Very good reation dudette. I'm not much of an animal lover but I was certainly moved by many of the classics including Marley & Me, My Dog Skip, Air Bud, Milo & Otis, and yes even this film when I watched it on Disney+ a few years back for my first (and only) time as of today.
I’m always going to sob at this movie because I lost my golden retriever when he turned 12 he had dementia and his death made me weep! He died in my arms!
I watched this everyday when I came home from school when I was a kid....and the ending well there's no words
Said you older your having joke you have homework love stages you haw your

When shadow gets chased by the mountain lion it always put me on the edge of my seat.
