Zero being black and illiterate is done on purpose. All the boys are from disadvantaged backgrounds but poor Zero has it the worst of the worst- he faces the disadvantages of racial discrimination, homelessness, illiteracy, and not not having parents. That's why so many others treat him like the "lowest of the low" and why it's important Stanley treats him like any other kid & helps him overcome what disadvantages he can.
Wait.... really? I didn't even think of it that way, I thought that it was the fact that he couldn't read and that he was like much worse off .... that he wasn't able to learn stuff that everyone takes for granted. Because like he wasn't the only one with with darker skin (at least from what I remember).. I always thought it was because they thought he was dumb because he wasn't able to get a basic education... Or did it go right over my head
What really sucks is the fact that Stanley was black in the book but that changed it for the movie. They wanted the main character to be more relatable.
@@leahbynumn9470 that is weird... But I can't really be sure if it's like that... Or if it's too one of those things where he just fit the role well (like with voice acting) .... X-Ray, Armpit, and Zero were black. He, Squid, and Zigzag were white. Magnet was Hispanic." Plus the original cover showed him as white.
@@katwebbxo Yeah, I have no memory of book Stanley being black. He was fat and lost weight over the course of the book, and some people were upset that Shia Labeouf didn't wear a fat suit.
The idea for the Holes song at the beginning came form the actors themselves. The boys were goofing around while on set making up their own rhymes and the director liked what they were putting down. He decided to have them write their own lyrics and put them in a sound booth for recording. The movie was filmed mostly in California but based in Texas. The book had the location as Texas.

There's actually only one significant difference between the book and movie: In the book, Stanley was overweight, and being sent to the camp made him lose all of it to where he was super skinny. They chose not to do this because forcing Shia LaBeouf to lose all that weight on the quick schedule they were on would've caused significant damage to his adolescent body.
Not sure, but my best guess is because Armpit is the main character of the "sequel" Small Steps. Maybe it was a hint to them considering making it a movie as well.
@@harjinder4508 Yup, Small Steps. The main character is Armpit and X-Ray is there for a bit too. It takes place three years after Holes ends. It's kind of a sequel spinoff.
There’s so many connections in this movie that it took me so long to realize that I feel like people still don’t notice 😭 the boat that zero’s living in when he runs away & eats the jarred peaches is sam’s boat that he died in on the lake, the formula for Sploosh the foot deodorant is peaches & onions, zero is madame zeroni’s great great great (great?) grandson, the lizards don’t harm zero & Stanley at the end when they’re in the hole cuz they had been eating onions and in the first flashback scene the men say they need sam’s onion juice to ward off lizards, etc
Also, there's a shot of the shoes flying upwards (after stanley carries zero up the mountain) which was a metaphor of the curse being lifted. Took me so many years to catch that cuz it doesn't look significant at first!
It's neat how the scenes from 1890's Latvia, the early 1900's Green Lake and the present are all connected. Also, how Stanley just happened to be put in the same group with Zero, who just happened to be a descendent of the woman who cursed his family. Stanley always said he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it seemed to me he was in the right place at the right time. Like when he was caught with the sunflower seeds. If that hadn't happened, then Mr. Sir wouldn't have taken him to the Warden's cabin and he wouldn't have seen the newspaper clippings about Kissing Kate Barlow on the wall of the Warden's powder room and realized what that gold tube was that he found. Most importantly, Stanley being carried to the Warden's cabin gave Zero the opportunity to finish Stanley's hole for him, which made Stanley change his mind about teaching Zero to read, which led Stanley and Zero to become friends. It's also neat how Stanley's father found the cure for foot odor right after Stanley carried Zero up the mountain and sang the song to him, meaning the curse on Stanley's family had finally been lifted. And when it started raining on Camp Green Lake after the Warden, Mr. Sir and Dr. Pendansky were arrested , meaning the curse on the lake, which was caused by Sam's murder, was finally lifted as well.
DUDE it makes me soooo happy when other people notice these things bc sometimes i think i’m the only one lol PLUS i’ve seen this movie 40+ times as it is my comfort movie! i love the onions and peaches being the cure for the foot odor AND onions being why they weren’t bitten! my fave movie for sure
When Stanley carried Zero up the hill, it reversed the curse zero’s ancestor put on Stanley’s ancestor! That’s why directly after he carried Zero up the hill, Stanley’s dad was finally able to find the solution to cure foot odor. The jar that fell in the pot on “accident” was really just luck that he hasn’t had!
Every time I see Eartha I can't help but smile but also get hella mad that she's no longer around. Disney was blessed to have her as Madame Zeroni and Yzma 🙏🏻
I met her once in a hotel elevator. She was very drunk, and i was super young. I was with my mom, who obv knew her.. this was actually before Holes and TENG.. and once I saw her in this movie and connected the dots…. AMAZED, I was!! And also was rather upset by her passing.. :/
I think it said “Introducing Shia LaBeouf” because it was Shia’s first theatrical movie. All the movies he’d done before this were TV movies. Also, I think Zero or X-Ray may have had the hardest bars on Dig It.
I liked Squid’s unreleased line (Since he wasn’t there to record) “Man, it’s S-Q-U-I-D, wanna try me; end up with an IV! Trust me, you’re poor you can’t pay the fee! Try diggin’ one hole, then see me, Boy!”
Love this movie. I've watched both the commentaries for it so many times. Here are some interesting facts they talk about the movie: The boys came up with the opening song while hanging out together in their hotel rooms. The actor who played Zigzag sang the main lyrics with the others providing backup, each one had their own verse and everything. According to the some of them the water in the jugs was disgusting. The boys called the bean lunch sploop. Jon Voigt (Mr. Sir) would be walking around eating Colgate sandwiches all the time and had the nicest smelling breath on set. The onions were actually apples wrapped up in saran wrap paper. While climbing the top of God's Thumb the two boys were beatboxing the entire time. The jumpsuits were actually changed for the last hole scene to help the lizards get a better grip. They had a really hard time keeping them off Zero, they loved playing with his hair. Most of the lines by Henry Winkler who played the dad were just him adlibbing, like when he asked to smell the cops shoes and his reaction after he finds the shoes no longer stink. Shiah had a really hard not laughing at him. Pretty much all the kids were kind of scared of Xray, they thought he was pretty badass. The guys in the jail cell were the director's family. The author of the Holes book is actually in the movie during the first time skipback. None of the other boys knew about the end credit scene with Zero/Khleo until they watched the movie together for the commentary. The boys had a lot of great stories. And the directors commentary had a lot of interesting stuff too.
I never made it to the directors commentary because the boys are so hilarious I always watched it with theirs instead. Might have to give it a chance one day
I honestly assumed the same, that or they were some kind of minty ice cream sandwich or something. During the commentary they mentioned how Jon Voigt's breath smelled amazing, like roses in a field one of them said. Then a couple of them said how he was always eating Colgate sandwiches all the time. The actor for Squid even mentions he was offered one.
The warden was definitely a criminal and boarder evil ( for a Disney live action movie), but you could see how it started. I also LOVED the detail of her nail polish having rattle snake venom in it, enough to cause damage when scratched! Just, what a boss way of disguising your “pepper spray “!!
Holes is one of the best movie adaptation of a book and Disney did a great job the plot, the soundtrack, and characters. It was so good schools read the book then watch the movies in class. Shia LaBeouf was getting to his career going in 2003, Even Stevens was ending but had a tv movie come out before it ended, he was a side character in that not so good Dumb and Dumber: When Harry Met Lloyd and he sky rocketed from Disney child star to hollywood star for a few years. Billy it's been a year since you did A Goofy Movie, you gotta do the sequel An Extreme Goofy Movie soon #bingers

I remember reading the book then watching the movie in my 4th grade class, thinking to myself “wow we really do some weird stories” as the story of Kissing Kate was being told. And then it just got sad. And we had to analyze how it was noticeable that all the boys came from the poorer side of society and how Zero had no parents to speak of in the eyes of the jury and adults of the camp so they treated him as the lowest of the low, being able to do whatever to him without consequences as a result, even letting him die. And it spoke on the class/judicial system in America and it’s discrimination of people from certain races, classes, and living areas/situations. It really was a “simple” story that really went over our heads at nine and ten years old, but they had us reading really intense stories. This and the Tell Tale Heart(literally read that every year in English class, we all got so tried of it after the third time) the Whipping Boy (literally a kids story about a boy being WHIPPED in place of the prince cause they couldn’t hit the prince, who then would purposely be bad so the whipping boy would be beaten in front of him and enjoy it, yup, we read that in 4th grade) The Witches (I liked witches and spooky things so I kinda enjoyed this one but it was scary too) Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes(sad af I tell you. I remember crying right in my class I didn’t care, that book was SAD and I was literally 10 years old). Canadian public school was out to traumatize its kids with wild and depressing stories
My 4th grade teacher in Chicago had all that in her classroom except the Whipping Boy (thank god bc it sounds insane!?). But the rest of them emotionally destroyed me, especially Sadako 😢
I don’t remember a lot of what I had to read in the 4th grade but I do remember one that really stuck with me,the book was called Milkweed its was about a orphaned Jewish boy.
Yesss this movie is so good. Loved reading the book in elementary school and then the movie came out shortly after. 💕 Still love the part with Sam and Kate reciting "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allan Poe. Ugh they deserved so much better. Not to mention Eartha Kitt being in this. Such an icon.

I just finished reading “Small Steps” the other day which is the sequel about Armpit after he leaves camp green lake & is on probation. Very different tone than Holes but still very good & I’m shocked it’s not a movie.
Agree about it being the best book to movie adaption. What scenes do you think didn't age well? Just genuinely asking because when it came out, the racist and sexist tones were depicted that way on purpose. But I'm wondering if there's something else I missed.
@@katwebbxo The only one that I watch now where it doesn’t really age well is the one where it’s revealed Mr. Sir is trans. It’s just revealed in a way where it might be read as where he transitioned in order to escape the law, not actually as a form of identity. (At the time it was rare to see trans representation at all so it wasn’t clear what representation was good or bad at the time so it certainly wasn’t malicious or even phobic, just something that doesn’t have much description so bad representation can be interpreted.) Still this is one of my favorite movies though and THE best book adapted movie in my opinion. I just cringe a bit at that one scene, but it comes and goes so fast.
@@BenevolentRose Gotcha! That's definitely fair. I feel like I vaguely remember that now that you mention it. I haven't read the book though since right before the movie came out.

Love your reaction. Dont let the haters hate. I agree with the quote "disney was was risky, i wish they would do more of that". Many movies and tv shows for kids do not have that more adult undertone anymore that the kids may not realise until older. I feel like it does help kids mature easier if they have that slight undertone in their entertainment growing up. They actually played this movie for some kids after reading the book at the school i work at earlier this year. I personally had this movies main rap song stuck in my head on repeat as a kid after watching it. It is one of those movies you go back and listen to the soundtrack because nostalgia is a thing.
I’m surprised it’s been years since I saw this movie, but just looking at the thumbnail it made me remember everything that happens in the movie… This really was one of my favorites movies as a kid; can’t even remember how many times I had seen this back then

Katherine kissed Sam. Trout (called so because his feet stank) Walker lead an angry mob to burn down the schoolhouse. The Sheriff got drunk, tried to kiss Katherine, said to her "the law will punish Sam and God will punish you". Sam and his donkey Mary Lou were both shot and killed in cold blood. And since that night not a single drop of rain fell on Green Lake. It's up to us the readers to decide whom it was that God punished that night. Either way it's a funny coincidence that the curse was lifted once the last of the Walker family gave up or lost the land and once the law finally stepped in and started investigating the Walker family for criminal activity
Remember when madame zeroni said if Elya Yelnats never came back to carry her up the mountain and sing while she drank and got strong that his family would be cursed? The curse got broken and they found the first Stanley Yelnats’ loot cuz Stanley the 4th (a Yelnats) carried zero/hector (a zeroni) up the mountain!
This movie (and book!) were big parts of my childhood. Its honestly a really good adaptation and hits on all the messages of the book. Plus, really good cast.
This video was a much needed pick me up after the Monday I had 😅 also the “im tired of this grandpa” is my favorite i say that line anytime I’m tired of doing something. You’re reaction to that scene was hilariously
Omg when I was younger my daycare teachers let us watch this almost everyday but I got tired of it and mainly fell asleep lol, but the nostalgia this movie has, it's bringing me back 😭
I just watched scenes of this movie a few days ago after randomly thinking about it. Prior to that, I had forgotten it existed. Definitely a favorite of mine since I was kid, and the poem, I used to recite it all the time. Also, "I can fix that" reminds me of The Princess Bride's "As you wish".
I remember I went to school, found the book, and literally read all of it before I could even get home. Loved the book, Zero has a much sadder background and the side characters don't get the ending they deserve but this is SUCH a good book.
I read the book and watched the movie it was so tear jerking for me seeing the racial discrimination zero,Sam and maybe others all in encountered and knowing Kate was madly in love with sam and him gone out of her life made me cry, and the fact Stanley was wrongfully put there was terrible 😔 there is so many people out there in the world in jail right now doing time for crimes they didn't commit, also in the movie it talks about the curse with madam zeroni and how elya didn't take her up the mountain I think since Stanley took zero up the mountain ( zero being a zeroni ) he broke the curse and ended up having good luck
I can’t fully explain why, but this is such a comfort movie for me. Yes I watched it and read the book all the time as a kid, but it’s more than just nostalgia. The story with Kate and Sam always got to me and made me cry, and Zero's friendship with Stanley teaching him to read, sharing the money with him and Zero finding his mom, just… ugh. This isn’t some amazing cinematic masterpiece of course but it’s got such a great vibe. I often sing that “if only if only” song idly while I’m doing other things.
This movie always makes me think about karma, fate, and a century old murder mystery being solved by kids. What kid doesn't love that idea?! I loved that idea when I was an adult and my nephews showed me this movie...it was fun!
One of my daughter's friends had an aunt who was on the production team. The boy went with his aunt to the party after the film was done. He has some props from the movie. He was a legend to all of his friends.
Idk how I forget that Billie is a vet considering he reminds us 17 times every video… but he was that dude that made us all do 5,000 extra push-ups every day. Even after deployment I remember that dudes face and it’s billies every time
Holes is my favourite book to teach my class of ten-year-olds. The kids always adore this story - and as a treat ‘for the kids’ we watch the film after reading the whole book!
Honestly, this movie was a large part of my childhood because of how much it impacted me. My brother introduced me to it, and at the time he wasn't back in jail. But after a week, he went back to jail. And I watched the movie nonstop because that was the last thing he gave me. I found comfort in it, and I even wondered what it would be like if my brother was at Camp Greenlake. And the songs I knew verse from verse, line from line. I knew the whole plot, theorys, and timeline. I got to thank this movie for everything, and thank you for watching it and making me remember my childhood.
A few years ago when I was a little children, I had a class where we compared the story of the book to the movie. It was easy because the movie basically follows every aspect of the book except the fact that Mr. Shea Laabuff was not fat like the Stanley from the book.
There were several differences between the book and the movie. But the differences were pretty minor and didn't really change the plot that much. 1. In the book, Stanley's father was trying to find a way to recycle old sneakers and discovered the cure for foot odor by accident. 2. In the book, Katherine Barlow and Sam the Onion Man were caught kissing by a woman named Hattie Parker, not Trout Walker who caught them in the movie. 3. In the book, X-Ray has very poor eyesight, which was why he asked Stanley to let him have the next thing he finds that may be interesting. In the movie X-Ray tells Stanley to let him have whatever he finds just because he'd been there six months and it wasn't fair for Stanley to get a day off when he'd just gotten there. X- Ray was a lot nicer to Stanley in the book than he was in the movie. 4.. In the movie, Stanley was given the nickname "Caveman" after he agreed to let X-Ray have whatever he found. In the book Stanley was already called Caveman before X-Ray talked to him. 5. In the book, Stanley's trial was delayed for six weeks because of baseball season, which was why Zero was already at the camp when Stanley arrived. This is not mentioned in the movie. These are just some of the differences between the book and the movie. There were several scenes in the book that were not in the movie, or they were in the movie but deleted in the final cut
I used to watch this movie a lot when I was younger, I still have it on dvd. I really liked Shia LaBeouf a lot a lot back then. I actually still to this day will randomly start singing the “If Only” poem when I’m trying to think or when I’m doing random stuff like drawing or painting my nails😁.
Hi Billy I hope you see this I have a movie series that you might like it’s called “The Chronicles of Narnia” or Narnia for short. There are three movies for this series the first one “ The Chronicles of Narnia -The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” second is “ The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspin, and finally the third one “ The Chronicles of Narnia - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” . This series is of course base of its books by C.S Lewis just like Harry Potter. And there also a BBC one from the 80s and 90s. Plus don’t forget to drink you water
No snakes (yet) but I do have a bearded dragon, and fun fact about this movie they used bearded dragons painted (with animal safe paints) for that scene with the “deadly lizards” lol 😂

Holes is such an incredible movie, I first watched it on TV when I was 13 but I didn't know it was also a novel until a year later when we got to read it in class.
You weren't lying about "you've got friends." My coworker has a massive collection of snakes, and has been my go-to guy for when I get snakes on my property.
This movie is 🔥 Like it’s an all star cast for a Disney movie first off. “Uncle” Dule Hill is a king, Sigourney Weaver (warden) is an icon and it’s Shia in his first movie. Second, it’s a great book adaptation. And third, the script/music slaps. “Well that’s just too damn bad” and “Excuuuuuse me” are everyday phrases in my life.
For no reason whatsoever, this is my favorite movie of all time. I couldn’t even tell u why. I just really like the movie and I’ve watched it 6 million times since it came out and I have the book ( well I stole the book from my school library in like 4th grade back in the day, lol) I never get tired of watching it. 🤷🏾♂️
I believe Holes was close to the beginning of Shia’s FILM career. Cause I think he had already been in Even Stevens at that point. Edit: His very first film was “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Winds” in 1984, and didn’t do anything else until 1998. Unless he did and no one bothered to put it on IMDb. 🤣
I was just thinking how nobody ever reacts to this movie! (There are a few rewatches around, but not many first(-ish) time reactions.) This is a great, unique film.

There's actually only one significant difference between the book and movie:
In the book, Stanley was overweight, and being sent to the camp made him lose all of it to where he was super skinny.
They chose not to do this because forcing Shia LaBeouf to lose all that weight on the quick schedule they were on would've caused significant damage to his adolescent body.
And that type of change you can't even be mad at. IMO this is one of the most faithful book to movie adaptations ever.
They also changed who asked Stanley to apologize to their mother. In the book it’s Alan, “Squid”. In the movie, it’s Armpit for some reason.
Not sure, but my best guess is because Armpit is the main character of the "sequel" Small Steps. Maybe it was a hint to them considering making it a movie as well.
@@lilchatterfox there's a sequel?
@@duchess93 Whoaaa that's cool! I didn't notice that either. Thank you for the lil' insight
@@pearlgarcia956 Thanks. It's one of my favorite movies too.
And all this time I thought finding the treasure was what reversed the curse.
Is that real?? Do peaches and onions get rid of foot odor?
Every time I see Eartha I can't help but smile but also get hella mad that she's no longer around. Disney was blessed to have her as Madame Zeroni and Yzma 🙏🏻
eartha kitt is YZMA from emperor new groove. it didnt click to me until she cackled. ugh gave me skeeves lol
I met her once in a hotel elevator. She was very drunk, and i was super young. I was with my mom, who obv knew her.. this was actually before Holes and TENG.. and once I saw her in this movie and connected the dots…. AMAZED, I was!! And also was rather upset by her passing.. :/
Disney almost didn't let people hear Yzmas song from when the movie was under the name Kingdom of the Sun and had a different plot
We remember her every year at Christmas time with her SUPERIOR version of Santa Baby.
I think it said “Introducing Shia LaBeouf” because it was Shia’s first theatrical movie. All the movies he’d done before this were TV movies. Also, I think Zero or X-Ray may have had the hardest bars on Dig It.
Before Holes, he was known for Even Stevens.
I liked Squid’s unreleased line (Since he wasn’t there to record)
“Man, it’s S-Q-U-I-D, wanna try me; end up with an IV! Trust me, you’re poor you can’t pay the fee! Try diggin’ one hole, then see me, Boy!”
That day, Kate was amazed to discover that when Sam was saying “I can fix that”, what he meant was, “I love you.”
Ayyye, we love a Princess Bride reference
Love this movie. I've watched both the commentaries for it so many times.
Here are some interesting facts they talk about the movie:
The boys came up with the opening song while hanging out together in their hotel rooms.
Might have to give it a chance one day
What is a Colgate sandwich? Because that sounds like a sandwich with toothpaste in it, which sounds disgusting.
What is a Colgate sandwich?
I honestly assumed the same, that or they were some kind of minty ice cream sandwich or something.
During the commentary they mentioned how Jon Voigt's breath smelled amazing, like roses in a field one of them said. Then a couple of them said how he was always eating Colgate sandwiches all the time. The actor for Squid even mentions he was offered one.
Another fun fact was that the actor for Zero ended up becoming a rapper!
The warden was definitely a criminal and boarder evil ( for a Disney live action movie), but you could see how it started. I also LOVED the detail of her nail polish having rattle snake venom in it, enough to cause damage when scratched! Just, what a boss way of disguising your “pepper spray “!!
Agreed with the nail polish, you just know she keeps it handy for when she really needs to punish one of her underlings 😂
And now he's an Actual Cannibal. Living in the woods. Killing for sport. Eating all the bodies.
Dig It by D-Tent Boys had us in a chokehold in 2003. Disney Channel used to run that music video every single commercial break!

This and
the Tell Tale Heart(literally read that every year in English class, we all got so tried of it after the third time)
the Whipping Boy (literally a kids story about a boy being WHIPPED in place of the prince cause they couldn’t hit the prince, who then would purposely be bad so the whipping boy would be beaten in front of him and enjoy it, yup, we read that in 4th grade)
The Witches (I liked witches and spooky things so I kinda enjoyed this one but it was scary too)
Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes(sad af I tell you. I remember crying right in my class I didn’t care, that book was SAD and I was literally 10 years old).
Canadian public school was out to traumatize its kids with wild and depressing stories
It's such a subtle but scathing commentary on the justice system, and I'm sad it's not more recognized for that.
Yes! I loved Holes, The Whipping Boy, and The Witches. All amazing kid stories; I hope they still let kids read them in school.
My 4th grade teacher in Chicago had all that in her classroom except the Whipping Boy (thank god bc it sounds insane!?). But the rest of them emotionally destroyed me, especially Sadako 😢
@@BoxOKittens I do too. My fourth grade teacher read Holes aloud to us in class. Life-changing experience.

I haven't read Small Steps in a long time. I loved it as a kid though. I am going to have to reread it.
I love Holes. It's the best book-to-movie adaptation I've ever seen. They really hit all the main points and tied up all the loose ends.
I think it has aged extremely well, and agree, this is the best book to film adaptation I have ever seen still ❤️
Agree about it being the best book to movie adaption. What scenes do you think didn't age well? Just genuinely asking because when it came out, the racist and sexist tones were depicted that way on purpose. But I'm wondering if there's something else I missed.
Louis Sachar (the author) did write the screenplay for this movie. :)

I’m surprised it’s been years since I saw this movie, but just looking at the thumbnail it made me remember everything that happens in the movie…

This was unexpected but definitely a favourite of many people, this movie is such a gem. Also Kate Barlow was so dope in this.
I remember when there was Holes overload… The book was crazy popular, Radio Disney was playing “Dig It” by the D-Tent Boys every 5 mins

Yeah, I liked that part a lot

Omg when I was younger my daycare teachers let us watch this almost everyday but I got tired of it and mainly fell asleep lol, but the nostalgia this movie has, it's bringing me back 😭
I just can’t unhear “I’m tired of this grandpa!” When I was trying to read your comment 😂
That lil lizard used to terrify me as a kid😭 was like “no this man didn’t get up on his feet and start running like that” lol
I thought they were real and felt so stupid after googling

You know the only reason they didn’t do it is because they found it not safe for Shia. The heat where they were filming was real.
@@effytraveler6155 Interesting fact. Yeah a fat suit in that heat would not have been ideal in their filming location.
In the movie X-Ray tells Stanley to let him
have whatever he finds just because he'd been there six months and it wasn't fair for Stanley to get a day off when he'd just gotten there. X- Ray was a lot nicer to Stanley in the book
than he was in the movie.
4.. In the movie, Stanley was given the nickname "Caveman" after he agreed to let X-Ray have whatever he found. In the book Stanley was already called Caveman before X-Ray talked to
him.
5. In the book, Stanley's trial was delayed for six weeks because of baseball season, which was why Zero was already at the camp when Stanley arrived. This is not mentioned in the
movie.
These are just some of the differences between the book and the movie. There were several scenes in the book that were not in the movie, or they were in the movie but deleted in the final cut

18:39 Which 'Wait, this is a Disney movie' should Billy watch next? 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'?
Or (I know this isn't a Disney movie but it was rated 'G' when it first came out) 'Watership Down' - the 70s animated one of course.
I want an entire full length movie just about Sam and Kate and Kate getting her revenge
14:24 I think Stanley was wearing clothes when showering because of that one boy saying that the warden has cameras in the showers
I remember reading this book in middle school and seeing this movie in theaters when it came out. Those were good times.
Holes is such an incredible movie, I first watched it on TV when I was 13 but I didn't know it was also a novel until a year later when we got to read it in class.
thank you billy!! your videos and you mean more to us then you will ever know! we love you Billy💖💖
I remember when I was in 5th grade,I got to bring my VHS version of Holes to school for the class to watch on movie day.
You weren't lying about "you've got friends." My coworker has a massive collection of snakes, and has been my go-to guy for when I get snakes on my property.
12:33 Zero's smart he just never learned. Basically the parents thing was right
Great reaction. Such a good nostalgic film. Madame Zeroni freaked me out as a little children tho.
This movie is 🔥
Like it’s an all star cast for a Disney movie first off. “Uncle” Dule Hill is a king, Sigourney Weaver (warden) is an icon and it’s Shia in his first movie.
Second, it’s a great book adaptation.
And third, the script/music slaps.
“Well that’s just too damn bad” and
“Excuuuuuse me” are everyday phrases in my life.
Barf bag didnt get bot by a rattlesnake so he'd die, he did it so he'd go to hospital and get out of camp green lake
