  • This week, we’re bringing you the latest video from a series that we call Home Coffee Brewing with April. This time around, we’re joining Peter in his Los Angeles home to brew a light-roasted Sidra together.
    We believe that innovation in coffee brewing starts at home, and that some of the most special and meaningful interactions with coffee can take place within your own kitchen.
    As we are frequently travelling visiting our international partners, we decided to introduce this format as a way to interact with you on a different level whilst maintaining the frequency of our videos.
    In this video, Peter brews an Ecuadorian Sidra roasted by Sey Coffee, using an April Plastic Dripper. Peter shares several innovative choices, such as a long resting time, a brew defined by approximate beverage weight rather than brew water and the use of an aeration tool.
    Thanks to Peter for sharing his brewing approach and explaining his methodology, and we look forward to following up this video with an insight into Peters approach to espresso brewing shortly.

    That's what I say. The visual aspect of your brew bar is as important as anything else. You need to enjoy what you are looking at, because it's always sitting on your counter, it's like a piece of art.
    Great video, I'm still loving the series.

      @coffeewithapril Notice I said "just as important as anything else", not MORE important. In the case of a coffee shop, EVEN MORE SO!! Most of your customers will not recognize GREAT coffee when they taste it. You gotta have great service, a clean beautiful space, and a good product, because it can't be bad coffee.

    I've got a question: I'm using the April brewer and am a big fan, but I never tried April coffee. We'll be in Copenhagen next month and I was wondering if April is a good example for lightly roasted Scandinavian style coffee, and if there are other cafes one can recommend in Copenhagen to get the proper light roast experience.

    Another great video. Lots of fun, but i do think it's unnecessary to use two kettles especially if the first one is set to a lower temp. It doesnt take a kettle more than 45 seconds to raise two degrees celsius

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  6 місяців тому +2

      One thing that could be interesting is to use two different kettles. I for example use Fellow and Bonavita, to add two different flowrates.

  • @lukesp5721
    @lukesp5721 6 місяців тому

    Almost identical to my home routine but I also design my water specifically for each new roast. I feel the Aerator does a great job cooling the coffee thus equals more mouth feels but you will get pretty much identical mouth feel if you also just let the cup cool and sometimes better. One factor that most people don't consider is it's not just about getting a brew down to a certain temperature but a longer "time" causes different chemical reactions within coffee so it can be the same temp a one using the aerator but more complex . Very cool see other people get so geeky about flavour 😊.

    • @lukesp5721
      @lukesp5721 6 місяців тому

      @@coffeewithapril whoaaa , spent 10 years trying to figure that out 😊. The very basic is for special processing coffee like naturals I use more MgC1, CaC1 & KHC03, for washed use the previous plus MgS04 & NaC03 all in different ratios to bring out the best in the coffee. Then the concentration is scaled up or down until each new coffee is dialed in. It helps to buy or roast a couple Kg of the coffee. But the longer I mess with this the easier it gets to dial in a coffee 😊👍.
