I think this video clearly put how I've been feeling about the spec and my experience playing in the beta. It doesn't feel like it's regarding to play riskier to do more damage and it doesn't feel like there are really any options to do more damage. It's like Primordial Wave. I'd love to see it work like it does as Elemental, as well as how it does for Resto. That way I can pick what to spend the buff on, either damage or healing.
yeah offensive primordial wave has been something many people have wished for (including myself) and I'm hoping that comes in a later patch. Dont think it'll make it to launch unfortunately
I'm surprised you don't think battle shaman is good for the game, I thought the idea is really cool since often you are bringing healers in raid just for their cooldowns anyway. I'd understand if it was the only viable shaman build than its kinda beans, but some fights in nyalotha or EP it felt like I was literally only there for SLT/APT/WR anyway so atleast I could do some good damage.
It's a cool niche for sure, it is however VERY boring to play and if it was the optimal way to play shaman then I'd really hate it. I do wish there was more like 'supportive' playstyles available in wow, but pressing 3 buttons on repeat for an entire boss except for your CDs is quite boring But I also think every healer doing the same level of passive damage is also boring, and is something I wish they had a bit more time to adjust with the new trees
Glad to see someone have a go at making rshaman specific content. Really interested to hear more from you. Personally, I would really hope to never see battleshaman again, Jaina was horrible, 9minute of 3 button rotation and then people thought that was the best build for shaman. Earth ele legendary sucked to use and i hope that's dead too. Acid rain is a talent that i thought id enjoy but now i feel the m+ playstyle has become pretty similar to raid rotations. Id also rather see Pwave duplicate hwaves or lavabursts on a choice talent as spreading flameshocks was more interactive than casting chain lightning 1000 times.
They simply gotta buff the dmg all around to make it more competitive. I do like the idea of that risky playstyle that others are mentioning, like if there was the ability to do massive dmg instead of healing essentially raising the ceiling for how much damage resto shamans can do. But right now it sounds like there isnt much reward for doing the dps rotation more. As a new player Id love to see more shaman videos about builds and playstyles cuz from what ive seen there arent many resto shaman specific channels on YT.
I agree with all of the points in the video. It was sad to see other healing specs get interesting talent choices and a return of popular borrowed powers while shamans have much less to choose from. Shaman talent tree doesn’t feel fresh or exciting compared to other healing classes. The damage aura buffs are better than nothing, but I will be disappointed if shaman continues to have poor hps throughput compared to other healers.
think the problem with resto shaman is its bad and doesn't do anything good
cranked my hog to this vid
This is cool but don't think you would be more useful as a resto druid or holy paladin? Resto shaman has a bad healing profile

Great video, Theun. Very informative.

I agrre with all of this point. thanks for the video and you're pretty good at this, maybe you can do more ^^
This video made me lose NNN
is this after the DPS buff?
DPS buff didn't change anything he's talking about with passive vs opportunity cost damage but no it was before
