6yr old content still 100% viable. Recently dug up an old raspberry pi 3b at the house and figured itd be fun to make a "mobile" emulator console. Setup was super easy. Highly suggest this guide.
Funny, I just found my old 3b in the back of a drawer and started doing this also for a little project. Got it stuck to the back of a tv pulling power from a usb, with a wireless controller. Nice clean little system.
Finally! A clean, concise, professional, filler-free tutorial that gave me what I needed to start enjoying my new Pi instead of wanting to pull my hair out in frustration. Two minutes in and I had already subbed. Dude, thank you so much:)
I dont mean to be so off topic but does anybody know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me!
@Frederick Trenton thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Bro this is THE BEST tutorial of not only raspberry pi and retro pi but of any tutorial I've watched on youtube! Great stuff! Not including Alantutorial of course...."how to touch a wall with an apple" cannot get much simpler than that.
FYI for anyone else attempting this: Windows will automatically format any SD Card larger than 32GB to exFAT, which cannot be read by the Raspberry Pi. The Raspberry Pi requires the SD Card to be formatted to FAT32 so it can be read properly. To format an SD Card larger than 32GB (in my case I had a 128 GB micro SDXC card), use the following tool: www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm This information was found on the Raspberry Pi foundation page, so I'm not just spewing nonsense!: www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/installation/sdxc_formatting.md
Didn't work for me, any idea as to why please? I used it, then installed Rpie using the raspi imager - then plugged into the Pi and nothing, no green light so not booting it at all?
@@rs.zsalma i actually havent used the rpie manager before. I download the raspbian. Iso from the raspberry pi website and flash it to the sd card (after first formatting it to fat32 using the tool mentioned in my first comment) using etcher: www.balena.io/etcher/

You can also install the Manager program. It lets you log in to your RetroPie using a browser, and you can check the stats, transfer rom/bios files, etc.
Yeah, looks like you also need an adapter to get the image on the sd card. I guess people just assume you already know you will need this before ordering stuff. I see you mention it @3:14. My fault I suppose, I ordered the pi, sd card and power supply before saying to myself "surely I wouldn't need any sort of sd adapter" then I found this video. Thanks for the info.

Once I formatted the SD Card, Etcher did its thing without complaint. You might want to put this in your show notes so it can save someone else some frustration.
If anyone else is experiencing the same issue still, I used a program called Rufus. Generally used for linux distro burning to usb, but works for RetroPie to SD card as well. Give it a go, Download Rufus usb, select the drive and your RetroPie image. Accept all the warnings (partitioning etc). Rufus will automatically repartition the SD card and burn the image. Once ready, a green bar will appear at the bottom stating "READY" and you're good to go. Hope this helps someone out.
