@@aloysiusvo318 the BEST would have been Eddie "The Knoxville Bear" Taylor, or any black bank pool player, particularly from Chicago. Problem is Eddie was active before there were cameras everywhere, and he passed away some time ago. There's a video of Taylor giving pool stories, showing bank skills and how to bank video on UA-cam. As for black bank pool players, maybe start with Bugs Rucker. Thing is, black players play more bank pool and one pocket than whites or any other race for that matter. Some say (Kid Delicious book) it had to do with how back in the day you paid by the rack and a guy who worked for the pool hall racked for you. Well one pocket is the longest lasting game of Pool, banks are the main type of shot, and that's what black players played to extend the time of each rack. A single rack of one pocket can go for hours with high level players with exceptional safety skills.
The best bank pool game I’ve ever seen, it’s a pleasure watch this two great players. Shane with so much experience and billy with enormous potential ❤
love how much fun billy has when he plays. not enough players make jokes to each other during matches. the confidence he banks with is just ridiculous too

His opening two games were ridiculous, I think he'd give me a run if he were playing banks and I was shooting direct, and I'm almost not kidding. Incredible level of play 10/12.
But his lack of patience and intermitent concentration came across as poor attitude which clearly cost him a US Open Bank Championship title. Boo, joker-Billy.
@@donaldhenak4585 I never witnessed a poor attitude, but maybe a little bit of over confidence. The only poor attitude I see is this dumbass comment, joker.
Two of today's greats in action. Billy is the best to watch because he runs and guns so fast and very accurately. If his range continues to improve with just a little more seasoning and experience, he will become one of the bests of all time. Certainly in bank pool. That and Honolulu (banks, kicks, caroms, and combinations-no straight linear shots) are among the most beautiful in pool and my favorites to play and watch.
I didn't know Honolulu pool was a thing, but I made up a game almost identical to it that I play by myself sometimes. The only problem with Honolulu that I can see from reading the rules is that you put balls back on the table, and keep score, both of which are problems when playing on a bar table. Is there "Honolulu 8 ball" or "Honolulu 9 ball"? I could see it working for 8 ball, if you just eliminate the 8 ball requirement to hit your own ball first.
Yes indeed!!! Billy however might still be the best bank pool player, but he might rely on his banking talent a bit too much, whereas SVB's experience can manage the game better.
@@drummingsamir I know some of them do like 8 ball, I think probably because they get so sick of rotation, since that appears to be far and away the most played in tournaments.
World Python no. Most high level players know where they hit on the cue ball depending on what happens when the cue ball hits the object ball and even if they know what type of english they are using it doesnt mean they can replicate their game
The hardest thing as Shanes apponent in my opinion is sitting in your seat and not applaude almost every ball Shane makes. Billy is also a very good shot.
The commentary would be better if the commentator told us about the game, rather than wonderful people he knows. I'm interested in the game and the commentator is talking about people.
Billy!!!!!!!!!! Was really rooting for him. We all know SVB is one of the greatest of all time. Billy is the better bank pool player but just needs to up his mental game. I think Shane's unrivaled mental stability especially in adverse situations is his secret sauce.
Years ago I saw Shane shoot (as a very young fella) in Rapid City, SD....I knew he was going to be something special even then. I'm from down near Hot Springs and used to shoot a little stick.
Three minutes and 5 for 6 opening game. SMOKIN'! Awesome run up by Shane from 2-0 down. Great match, great commentary. Enjoyed it. One suggestion, could you put the commentator's names in the description, so we know who we are listening to? You may have said in the beginning, but if you did, I missed it. I looked up bank pool on YT to watch a few matches, and CSI has almost all of them posted. Thx. How about some three cushion billiards, if you have any in the archives. :-)
What pictures are these commentators seeing? How many times have they called the shot wrong or said "He's missed it" when it's plain to see the ball is going in?
Billy Thorpe will be a multi world champion billiards title holder in the future. Kid can flat out play, any game you throw at him. Just gotta learn not to get excited once he misses a shot or two and throw himself off rhythm. Watched him run 13 racks of 9 ball in Kentucky a few years ago.
Finally a pool tournament that isn't just pros clearing table after table with perfect position play. Professional pool would be so much more interesting, if they implemented rules to make the game harder, so that virtuosos could win against one-trick ponies, and so there would always be some drama about who might win. Even this game seems to have rules to make the game easier - I'd prefer it if they had to deal with extremely difficult shots and positions.
I watch Truman Houge run 13 straight banks in a row after being down 2 games, I don’t remember the other player missed and Truman finished. Truman was the best 10-12 yrs ago, then John and since has been a bunch that played really well including Efren
Great game. Is the score board on some kind of delay?? Or is the person updating it just asleep some place. Happens on every bank pool game I watch. Thanks for the posting. Peace✌
I think the commentator is wrong about Billy being io to beat Brumback. It would be a great match. So someone should set the match up. It would be a classic. A race to 11would be long enough to determine who's the King Of Bank. Someone please arrange it!
The shot at 52:55 losses shane the set it was a clear dbl kiss on the 8ball and noone caught it even tho you definitely heard it but respect to both players!
Is that a 4 x 8 Diamond Table? If that is a nine foot table then you guys need to stop using fish eye (wide angle lenses on these matches). distorted views suck almost as bad as poor video quality did for all those years. Get the proper aspect ratio back in the videos, because simply "fitting it all in" the frame is a convolution if you use the wrong cameras/lenses just to get a "filled frame".
Probably the best bank pool match I’ve ever seen, hands down.
