I think you can get up to 200G just collecting those items and making it to the end of this first area.
I imagine this must be what Hell is like...doing the same difficult task over and over; failing each time, and having to start over from the beginning; a torturous neverending cycle of frustration and misery.

After that you just get golden things which give you money, and at some point you get spirits which you can use after completing the level you collected them. They let you start the next level from a different place than usual, but after a few deaths you have to use the regular starting point.

Everything is systematic, everything happens in the exact same pattern every single time. I don't know what you could say I am in a gaming sense. I start every game on the highest difficulty so I get used to how hard it is, then when I go back for the achievements I missed on easy it's ridiculously easy. I played through Advanced Warfare on Veteran when I started, I regret starting Darksiders 2 on Apocalyptic though.

I agree. A lot of people dislike Terraria for little reasons. But I also agree with the other guys in the sense that they should play it on PC, not console.
Just a little tip to those struggling on the first world. The first rope you climb leads you to two treasures, depending on your armour amount (supposing you have blue helmet) going up will show you another platform which has a spider on. To get there you have to throw a spear and climb up etc, from there you can get flaming sword. Going down near the bottom ad hitting the two closest blocks to the pit opens up and gives you a secret piece of armour/magic. Good luck!
