I was in the Jolly Rogers from 85-89 and made two cruises with them, once on the Nimitz and then the Roosevelt. My favorite design was when the AJs went to the inside, making room for a much larger Ernie. My recollection is that the VF-84 was on the ventral fins, which I did not like (the engines leaked a lot, and the ventral fins looked trashy all the time). Also, the drop tanks were gloss black with the gold chevrons, I didn't like that much either. The show birds 200 and 201 were painted far too often and the pilots reported that the additional paint noticeably affected the top speed and handling of the aircraft. I don't think the Navy cared since those aircraft, being at airshows and big game flyovers, probably increased recruitment.
Thanks, that's some interesting info there. It must have been quite an experience to see these jets up close for real. How often would these aircraft been cleaned, and how often were they repainted? As far as I see 'VF-84' was removed from the ventral fins by 89, now I understand why :D I have yet to find a photo of the black drop tank, that must have looked cool.
Yes, VF-84 color schemes are accurate, as I remember them during my time. During deployment it seemed that more aircraft got the low-vis gray treatment. The hi-vis paint scheme did look outstanding/awesome! G Hood, MM1, 82-86 USS Nimitz CVN-68
Work of art as always mate! P.S. the fact the 84's never painted their radome black or striped is exactly why they were always one my favorites! If i really must chose one and only one of these, i'd say the 70's one, but it's a tough call!
I always love your paints, the only thing I would request, is that you would have given more variety to the Modex numbers. Instead of repeating 201 and 202 maybe give us a 205, 207, and 210.
I make whatever skin I have enough info about. I have to figure out the BuNo, the names on the canopy, have enough reference photos, I can't just put whatever modex on there and invent the rest. Also, these were not in service at the same time - and there was a 200-201-202, etc...each year.
Mate these look amazing. Where would a not very tech savvy older guy who loves tomcats go to download these incredible skins. Just asking for a fried 😜
I love all the Jolly Rogers paintings for the Grumman F-14 Tomcat especially the paintings where the 2 tail fins are black with the white skull and crossbones and the yellow tips of the 2 tail fins. Nevertheless love all of them. ✈ ✈ ✈ ✈ 🛩 🛩 🛩 🛩 ✈ ✈ ✈ ✈ 🛩 🛩 🛩 🛩
Hello reflected - thanks a lot for the skins and the Final countdown Mission … I would love to give you back something for the Mission … The Boat is not the Same as in the Movie would love to model and send you a version similar in the movie … is that possible you can implement and change the boat? How can I contact you?

Feature in The best F14 movie "" The final count down 1980 """ !!!!!!!
Amazing skins! Love the original 70's style!
Fantastic stuff, thanks for making these available!
You think you could make some late 70's-Mid80's VF-32 skins?
1982 for me, the smaller nose insignia really appeals. Would love to get this on a B, even though they never flew the B
Very good information and details for me to make plastic models, thank you !

Jolly Rogers and Wolfpack are my favorite schemes for the Tomcat.
Will you make a VF-103 pack for the F-14B?

Thanks, much appreciated, but the idea is not to use any mods so that those with a vanilla DCS can also play it.
@@ReflectedSimulations ah I understand - I need to learn a lot related to DCS - I thought we can add it to the mission file
Everything was fine until you asked me to subscribe
