I literaly got my first 12 vict run using mage with 0 flamestrikes, 0 blizzards but 3 firelands portal
I died inside a little the moment I saw that Firelands Portal counter pop up...
A sign like that is nothing less than *"ABANDON ALL HOPE, YE WHO ENTER HERE"*

If they change firelands portal to an epic card it would solve the problem. It would still be draftable but much rarer.
Jack Ashworth I mean, it definitely helped. It's not perfectly balanced, and no game ever is, but there is still certainly a bias towards Mage- and there will be unless they remove either a ton of class cards, or just Flamestrike.
It would be perfect as a rare no need to be epic. The ONLY thing that makes it broken is the chance to get 4-5 in a game, with literally no counterplay available.

I dont think that's necessarily a good thing LMAO.. This can be seen by the fact that during that match, the mage with 5 firelands was also at 2 losses.. I've had 12/0 recently with a mage deck that had only 1 firelands.. I think 1/2 is the perfect amount of firelands to have.

One of many reasons I love watching Trump: that 5th Firelands Portal was fucking ridiculous, but his salt was so tame. I'd have rage quit, and I know Kripp would have released a whole video highlighting the Pillar of Salt he'd have become. But Trump? Trump despairs and moves on. I wish I had that control lol
I stopped watching Kripp because he whines about RNG too much. Suck it up man, you are a youtube millionaire I'd say you've done well in the RNG department.

Those were just some really lucky mages. If you were talking about Priest, tho, I'd have to agree.
It's no surprise that mage is the most played class, it's the class everyone starts with and therefor have the most experience with.
Even if mage was the worst in arena i would never expect it to be the least played class.
They recently tried to balence arena a little, but mage mage have 3 big advantages
1) a hero power who deal damage and pass taunts
2) powerfull spell who can clear board/remove big minions and finish games
3) most of these spells are common card so pretty easy to draft
Easy fix guys. Make Firelands portal and babbling book epic. Rogues need a look too.
Holy crap, I think I ran into that exact same firelands portal dude. I didn't realize it until that game how many 5 health minions I had picked but every damn time I played one he hit me with that.
That mage game reminded me of a time a hunter dropped a summoning stone on turn 8, I let it be to kill his other minions, thinking no way he had call of the wild with only one card in hand... He then played call of the wild on turn 9, and 10. I cried a little

At 21:30 Trump should play the Kobold. The Mage has already burned a lot of removal and it sets up lethal with Silvermoon + Fireball + Ping.
He nearly threw the game away not doing that. If you have a chance to set up lethal that isn't easily punishable, you should almost always do it.
finally after like 2 years trump sees the value of arcane explosion. Always was mind boggling that he would take other junk cards like arcane missiles over it.

since when? the last few days every mage i facedf had at least 1 of them, usually 2 XD and when i chose mage i never failed to get one either
naruto00nix They just took away the Karazhan occurance bonus. So it's only as common as Flamestrike and Fireball now. So it's still everywhere, but you don't see 2+ in every single high win deck any more.

That Bubbling Book -> Tome -> Polymorph Boar almost gave me cancer. I think Trump would have won the first match if he pinged the 3/1, used Cone of Cold on the Seer and then shattered the Summoning Stone.

If oppoenet have no heals, taunts or secrets and cannot kill kobold immediately, trump will have exact lethal with silvermoon portal, fireball and hero power the next turn

i just an idea: different maps for arena, the maps start rusty when you have low wins and look royal when you have more wins and final battle map looks epic

i just got a 12-2 paladin run yesterday and i think like 8 of those were against mage, the ones i lost were mage..they nerfed it but not nearly enough

I'm sorry Trump, but that first game is totally on you. When deciding between fireballing the stone or fireballing the thing that comes out of the stone, either way, you're using fireball, so why not just kill the problem at its roots?
Kard Fett because, with only 1-2 cards in hand then usually the mage won't have many, if any, more spells left. So the stone will be a dead card. In this case, he played the odds and lost.

My take away from this is take fire lance portal no matter what.
Fire lance portal: 5 mana deal 8 damage. Summon a random 8-Cost minion.
I still take Flamestrike over Firelands Portal. Unless I already have 2 Flamestrikes.

sethredxiii Morrison Hehe, turn 7 Mage is pretty scary, but even just the hero power with a solid deck makes Mage strong. Just went 10-2 with a draft with only Flame Lance, Goblin Blastmage and Pyroblast as class cards. Two of the losses might have been winnable with different play too. And to think I picked Mage because I had the class card mission open haha. 3 Mechwarpers, felt like tavern brawl from a week or two ago at times!
