a man that could sing the phone book class and a living legend god bless you Johnny ps Kennedy centre don't you think its about time he got it inducted its about time Johnny got in don't you think
How thankful i am that i had access to my parents' 45s growing up. 4 wonderful boxes that contained the likes of Johnny Mathis, Eddie Fisher, Doris Day, Andy Williams, Connie Francis. People whose artistry continues to bless me to this day. I've been lucky enough to see live Andy Williams (2008), Johnny Mathis (2009) and Connie Francis (2010).
Johnny will live in our hearts forever. I had the pleasure of hearing Johnny perform at my high school assembly (Balboa High -SF) for two years, before he graduated from Washing High (SF). So glad we were able to exchange talents from our schools. I wonder if they still do that? Thanks for all the memories, Johnny, for all these wonderful years.
Saw Mister Mathis at Melody Tent in Hyannis on Cape Cod 20 years ago and also when listened to him in records in 1963. I am now 72 years old still on Cape Cod and have been blessed by Mister Mathis near all my life long since my own twelfth of never many times other❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No other voice on Earth gives us such warm, mellow, loving, and endless feelings. And Johnny's solitary giving of his own self will never be repeated...anywhere, or any time. God has given us a voice that will live until THE END OF TIME in Johnny.
I was struggling one day. Sent my child off on a plane to his mothers. I walked back through the airport and heard a melody coming from a restaurant and it pierced me. I got close enough to hear. And felt like God was singing this to me, giving me a message that very moment. Brings me to tears. Thx Johnny!
Our community lost a really good friend. I talked with him during Intermission at a Johnny Mathis theater concert. Johnny was still in good voice. Our friend told me about an outdoor concert Johnny Mathis gave at Texas A&M. This is way before cell phones with a flashlight. This is late 50's early 60's, the lights go out and Johnny Mathis continues to sing, song after song, from memory; and for the audience a special time to remember. Can you imagine being with your special date, lights out, and hearing the "12th of Never"?
No one could ever have sung this song as beautifully as Johnny Mathis. He is one of the best singers I have ever heard. I have loved his romantic sounding voice ever since I first heard him sing in the early 60s.
I saw Johnny Mathis in concert in Portland, Oregon twice way back in the day. I'll never forget when he sang "Maria" acapella. Put chills down your spine and brought tears to your eyes. I don't think he ever got the recognition he deserved for having one of the most beautiful voices in pop music. He should be right up there with Sinatra and Jack Jones.
Is there a possibility that Johnny Mathis having a better voice would steal n still their thunder? Secondly, not being their preferred skin color played in their decision? Whatever the reason, Johnny M. Wasn’t worried as he triumphed after both left a while ago! Ironic, ‘the best last’! His singing is classy; his songs are most unforgettable!
@@bertharuiz1225 It's a matter of taste, I find his consistently elongated, wavering timbre to be a little off-putting compared to Sinatra's croon. A beautiful voice, no doubt about that, but he could've dialled the melodrama back a bit. YMMV.
Greeting from Portland as well! Thankfully he’ll go down in history for the most iconic Christmas music! And many others! But yes, he’s certainly underrated in 2024.
My late husband sang this to me a few years ago,I last him last year and I miss him so much ,I listen to this everynight on You Tube and I cry all the time.
I saw Johnny Mathis in 1969 at Opera Theatre in Chicago. He is one of the Best ever. 50 years later this song is dedicated to my Bride Lynda. God Bless Him
I went to S. F. State with Johnny and was on the track team with him. I ran the distance races and he was our high jumper. He tied a world record when he jumped 12+ inches over his own height. Ray Kaufman was our coach and Johnny came back to talk to us after his music career started. This is his best song
His voice is still as pure as it was when he 1st recorded this song...A true testament to a real singer with so much natural talent .. Thank you Johnny , singers such as yourself from this era will stay with people such as myself (70yrs plus) for a long time.. maybe until the 12th of never.. again I than you so much... yes, there are certain songs. I understand your dad's loss. My husband passed July 1, 2019 as well. We married when we were just kids. We had 60 years together.
Tellement emouvante et belle cette melodie , il ne faut jamais oublie ceux que l ont a aimes meme parfois si la vie a ete compiquee . Bravo jonhy pour ce bel hommage . Thank you 🤲❤❤⚘⚘👏👏 jeanine
One of my very favorite recordings by the Great Johnny Mathis. His songs are are at my Top of the List Performers! One of the largest selling Artists of all time! I had the rare privilege of being at one of Johnny Mathis' first live performances: In 1957 at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. A Great Concert!
I started singing this song to myself while trying to get to sleep last night. I guess that Johnny Mathis beautiful ballad which was an old folk song was embedded in my mind. I had every eight track, and cassette of this amazing man when I was in my younger days. I feel so bless to have and still can listen to this timeless voice of Johnny Mathis!~
JM you are a very sensuous singer. I love all your songs, but this song was very memorable to me. One time this became our theme song. Dodo do you still remember this song?
His voice control is amazing.
My husband died in 1972. This song makes me sad. I miss him more than words can say
My husband sang this to me a few years ago and he passed away last year and I miss him so much everyday and I listen to this nearly everynight.
True love is forever
Love the song and Johnny singing it, such a beautiful song.
My new bride and I dedicated this song to each other as our final dance at our wedding reception...45 years ago.
This is a nice romantic song ❤
Nice love song ❤
Our wedding song from 1974 still makes me feel the same as that day
Everyone should share this song with someone they love. Even if they are no longer around ❤
Innermost being felt! Both soul and spirit! Beautiful.....
Amazing voice. No one else sings like him. After the first note you know who you're listening to.

He still made my heard flutter!! ❤
This song was my late grandpa's favourite.❤ How I miss you so much.
I have been listening to him for decades and decades, and would love to listen to him til my end. This wasn’t the original. I have that on a lot. ☺️
I've NEVER heard anyone else sing it 😅. Beautiful 💜
Have you ever heard anyone sing this better than this guy,it’s just perfect.

The greatest. I recently saw him in concert and he still has it. What a great way to spend my birthday evening; listening to Johnny Mathis.
Johnny and Gil! Just the best!❤️

Johnny is a gift to humanity. Heard him in Tampa in 63 when I was 12...Live. With my Aunt. A WWII Naval nurse....in Pacific. Do you remember Johnny?
Probably the greatest. His rendering of this beautiful song is from another World his range and his holding of notes

Such a beautiful song. Johnny Mathis music is so peaceful and loving. Have his music in my library and treasure it.
The perfect wedding song should be played at every wedding and only Johnny Mathis could sing this
