- The role of medical cannabis for chronic pain.
A new study from the department of health was released Tuesday about the role of medical cannabis for chronic pain in reducing prescription opioid dosages.
The problem with Marijuana is that you don't need a lab to make it so that's no good for the pharma industry and their bottom line.
I'm 75 years old and in constant pain after 6 back surgeries, the last one didn't work at all. Pain meds do not kill the pain, they just make me care less about it. I was given some good buds but cannot smoke these days, COPD. I filled some 20 mg caps with Bud and take it before bed. Cured the old people sleep problems of constantly waking up. The 2am to 4am get up to pee problem no longer happens. When I get up in the morning I'm not in a lot of pain. I am a couple hours later though. I lowered the dose to 10mg, not as effective but it works. SSI does not pay well enough to buy from a clinic. I just started to grow my own. I'm in Ca. so it's legal for me. It works for me!! Not 100% but I no longer take the pain meds!!
no drug kills pain, it is all a reduction in pain perception, most of the time even with the most effecacious class of painkillers, which are opioids.
the key is to try to heal the source of the pain if possible, however for a lot of cases it is not this simple, there are a countless amount of skin aliments, countless amount of internal aliments such as irritable bowel syndrome, that while can absolutely be managed through things such as eating better, or using a particular topical solution, or surgery, etc, may still induce pain in the long run.
this is where painkillers come into play, they allow you to live your life in the potentially long road of recovery from whatever aliment that is causing the pain to begin with, and while yes, they absolutely do have negative implications, you need to individually weigh out the overall positives and negatives, and ask yourself on an individual basis "is this improving my life overall"?
for a lot of people, with opioids this answer is yes, and i think that is ultimately a good thing, as much as we like to demonize opioids, they are a very serious and very legitimate medicine that i think too much of the bad has been focused on, and we forget about the actual importance of them.
I vape cannabis for back pain its really effective my pain went from A 10 to zero.
awesome!
Had surgery for a double bowel perforation 4 months ago and have had moderate to severe abdominal pain and nausea everyday. Medical Marijuana has been my miracle. I can function almost pain free now.
I’m so sick of these people talking about research. They have been researching Cannabis for decades. That’s the only reason they let states do what they want. And they don’t want to allow this to happen all at one time. Which is insane. Once again we are one of the last countries to do this . Mexico and Canada is ahead of us on Cannabis.
I was in a really bad car accident where i flew out of a truck and messed up my whole back, neck and arm, i took some pain meds the first few weeks afterwards it was straight thc and help with my pain and i didnt have to have the fear of hurting my insides from taking to many pain med or being addicted to it
The only problem with medical cannabis is that some people think it's a drug only to make high people. But the truth is it helps people alleviate the symptoms of their pain. Also, cannabis is high priced now, and I think that's the problem too. Not all patients can afford expensive cannabis.
I recently had the most severe pain I've had in my life. I am currently 70 year of age. I called the doctors office for some kind of pain killer. They said they needed to see me at their office to prescribe something. The appointment was scheduled for Monday the next week! I have NEVER been on any opioid. I've also never had anything stronger than an aspirin, ibuprofen or Tylenol. I had trouble falling asleep because of the pain. Any further business with that Health center will come to an end soon. I understand that an opioid crisis is prevalent in New Hampshire, but you don't treat everyone for the same problem. Somersworth, NH.
Could help a lot with my back pain
Need to get it legalized in Indiana
I’m with you bro. That shit being illegal is a crime against humanity.
I think the problem of medical marijuana is when you go dispensaries the price on it is very high
Lol I wait for sales. Got at 8th for 15 bucks.
Gotta find the deals.. most pot shops sell 100mg edibles for $10, some even 15-20. But I’ve been in Michigan and online getting 100mg for $1-2.
Thank you for your service legalized marijuana for veterans
I have been on cannabis oil for 4 months hoping it was the answer to my pain relief, clarifying THC and CBD in equal amounts, and no or little relief, maybe it's me !
At the time of this video Hemp was Federally Legal (hemp is a type of Cannabis).
Keep up the good work
Doctors had me prescribed to pain patches cannabis saved my life from overdose. Come on NC;(
I have cerebral palsy and I went from taking opiates every day to maybe a couple times a week I am at a point where 30 Percocet can last me almost 3 months
How has it taken this long still wondering
Coz big pharmaceutical company's can't pattern itt, any1 can grow weed.
All comes down 2 money
The Sackler family does not approve of this video...
Anons in da house.🐸
The studies have been done in Israel
Been waiting to hear this
We need more doctors to test things so we can feel safe
I wonder if this would work for me?... I use prescription fentanyl patches and prescription hydrocodone ( for breakthrough pain) for my spinal stenosis and degenerative arthritis ,and I hate taking meds, but need them to just function in life. Until you deal with chronic pain, you do not understand pain. There's no playing with grandkids, no dancing with hubby, I can hardly walk. I use a cane to get around. Thank God I can still walk at all. I smoked pot in the 70's for recreational use 😂 and hated the smell, the way I smelled..I know they have gummies/ suckers, etc now...
People have no choice because most doctors will not prescribe opioids. Medical cannabis is so easy to get and it’s a good quality product normally.
Why are they researching?? Everyone knows it helps with the pain so let people use it…
I guess it's a lot safer than cigarettes if it works for chronic pain why not, if God didn't put a seed on this earth to grow weed who did
Honestly it is the only thing to help with my RLS and even then sometimes I still twitch and feel crawling... I could take an entire bottle of the pills and still be in pain, twitching, wishing death...
I have been battling RLS for over 30 years. May I asked if you have any additional information that you would be willing to share?
I am thinking along the lines of what specifically have you found to work or not. Perhaps like what strains, way to consume orally/smoke/vape…
Really any info would help. I’m trying to reduce the pharmaceuticals that I use currently.
Thank you.
@@ahodamahingan1698 I smoke. I prefer Indica strains. But my state is illegal and who knows if the names im told is really what's there. Even still I get twitches and crawls at times but if I don't smoke, I'd honestly rather pay under a train.... The pills have zero effect.
i can’t take tylenol or ibuprofen due to my liver and i have a permanent partial disability in my lumbar spine that can leave me bedridden when i have flare ups. i have addiction in my family so fent and opioid are not an option. weed is the only thing that helps me be able to. live my life
❤❤❤❤
Anybody shocked here?
Grow your own laws only please
Opiates, because of lack of drug options
Do what you gotta do ... 😏 I'm still gonna keep smoking it legal or not !
Right, Tx will never legalize...🖕💨😎
Ditto
As long as u aren’t on methodone it may help with everything else but if u think u are gna go from 120 to 60 on methodone cus u smoke pot good luck trust me I know just trust me I know people and they told me it’s not like that
Except it kind of is like that.
Marijuana use increases my pain and massively increases my injury recovery time. It's been doing the same thing throughout 15 years of heavy use and its only gotten worse as ive aged.
I continue to use pot because of the effects it has on my mind (it allows me to be ok with being bored), but it hasn't been worth it for the destruction it's had on my body and the constant chronic pain it causes.
Not all drugs work the same on all people i guess. If weed makes your pain go away good on ya. I hope i have the guts to quit this idiotic debilitating behaviour and just be ok with feeling crappy in my mind. -tony mcknight-whitford
