What about using something like the Xvive U4? This is a topic I've been trying to find a solution to for Years. I was looking at this IEM system, but haven't yet been able to try it out.

A tip for those Sony headphones.
I have those Sony WH1000-XM3 and when used wired, you can still turn them ON but it will detect it has a cable connected and not start the bluetooth connection but only turn on the ANC and Amplification. So this way you can get Wired, ANC and amplification (doesn't sound crappy anymore) for those sony's.

All good points! I ended up buying a nice pair of headphones with a 10 foot cable. The nicer wired headphones have a cable that unplugs from the headphones, and then if you step on the cable, it doesn't rip the wire out of the headphones, or knock them on the ground.

im not a fan of using headphones when drumming so when I got my IEMs (sennheiser ie 100 pros), those were a godsend. They're designed to stay on since they wrap around your ears and to stay away from your playing since by default the cable is designed to fall towards your backside.
Your tip about the headphone extension cable is great, and in my setup I adhered the female end of the extension cable on a stool i have near me so that connection/disconnection from it is as easy as it gets.
I would totally recommended anyone get IEMs, though you might have to pay a pretty penny if you're also looking for amazing sound quality coming out of them.

For once, I think you missed the topic completely
Headphones first quality for e-drums should be noise reduction of hitting plastic cymbals, either by closed construction or electronic cancelling.
The noise on mesh heads melts into the sounds of the pads, so they are not so annoying.
I find it very annoying to hear the clapping together of the Efnote 3X¨s HiHat.
It sounds like a very big very old dog barking.
So the Yamaha YH-WL500 is not a choice, whatever its latency.
It is semi-open, outside noise of cymbals goes through.
It is electronic, but has no active noise cancelling either..

Another tip specifically for wired earbuds when using an extension cable is to put where your earbuds cable connects to your extension cable into a pant pocket. This way if you step on the extension cable, the chances of disconnecting and / or breaking your cables' output / input hardware are practically eliminated.

I'm an old dude (58), with no appreciable musical experience, who started with the drums a little over a year-and-a-half ago. The wire of my headphones/IEMs drives me nuts. As a newbie, I lose my sticks often. And I tweak the kit all the time. I have IEMs with the wire snuggly behind my head. But when I get up to retrieve a stick or adjust the kit & sit back down, I usually sit on the wire & it tugs on my head. Plus, getting my legs or feet tangled. And yes, extension cables help, but they don't make these issues go away. Occasionally I sit on the wire just while sitting there, probably as I rock forward & back & adjust my sitting position as I play. Unfortunately, that affects my wireless solution, too. 🤨
Anyway, I found the Lekato MS-1, which has the same guts as a lot of other wireless IEMs. (It's 2 pieces, but I'm calling it one product.) It's cheap, & claims 12 ms latency, but it's just OK. I don't feel the latency (from Roland TD-27). But, since it shares 2.4 GHz with Bluetooth & wifi, the noise can be significant. I use BT to provide my backing tracks. So, I nearly returned it for the noise. But, at the last minute, I tried relocating the transmitter, using an extension cable to move it far from the module, & that helped a lot. But it's still not great. Definitely not the greatest frequency response. Also, unless the batteries are freshly charged, it overdrives very easily, even though I'm not pushing the volume. And it has dropouts, especially as the batteries get to half power or less. (1.5 - 2hrs).
I'm currently hoping to find a UHF model to replace the MS-1. Unfortunately, almost none of the most professional (& expensive) devices I've found are stereo (I'm looking at you, Xvive U4). (I'm listening to backing tracks, so I want the stereo separation.) But the worst part is that almost none of them use frequencies that are legal in the U.S.! There are only a few narrow bands unlicensed devices can use: 614-616 MHz & 657-663 MHz. (Another band in the 500 MHz range can be used if you are at least 4 km away from the edge of any TV station that uses that frequency band, & I live in a metro suburb.)
It's very disappointing to see no products tailored for the U.S. market (although the latest FCC freq limits are only a couple of years old). And it stinks that I can't find anything reasonably inexpensive (say,

I bought some used IR sony headphones, they come with a transmitter, the sound quality is not amazing but its perfectly usable for practice. There is no latency that i can detect and im usually quite sensitive to it they automatically switch on when you put them on your head (switch built into headband) so never accidentally leave them on. The battery lasts about 100 hours before it runs out. Model mdr-if230. They were 25 quid used. They are old but they do the job nicely for practice.

Hi, from all the headphones available ive been using razer 2.4G and well, asio shows latency up to 2ms, but it seems to be more, because ive have to adjust my way of mixing too much...it bothers me too much, specially when dropping the vinyl. Scratching is impossible (im a dj).... overall, they can work for producers (computer stuff), but for musicians its way better the cable (im not a musician). But i have to say that they are extremly comfortable... Old rs sennheisers (rf) seems to be the best, but the sound...mhmm. Too much hissing and stuff happening there. :D.
Well, im back to my hd25 or the technics rp1200 :D.

You still need something to plug the drums into. If you don't want a drum module, you could try a trigger interface. Like the EdrumIN. Or the ddrum DDTI
