I deeply resonated with this. I discussed this on my episode with Audrey Holcomb, as we experienced a smaller-scale of this when Stranger Things came out. You’re right, it truly feels like an illusion. It’s like you see these impersonal numbers you expected would make you feel like you “arrived” at the destination, but in reality, it’s just a signpost. There is this interesting push and pull between honoring your authenticity and recognizing you also have these newfound expectations. I experienced this on a much smaller scale and at 22, so I can’t imagine the weight you must feel. The one thing that has helped me stay present, which admittedly comes also from being an actor more than a content creator, is that the moments with those you love are the work. They are the moments that keep you grounded and allow you to understand the experiences you may create content around on a much deeper level. This is actually why I started this podcast I’m commenting from: it forces me to connect with others in a way that is also inherently creative. It’s still in that first phase, with only really friends and family watching and listening. But the lucky thing about first experiencing that as an actor is the ability to enter this creative project with a healthier relationship towards the extrinsic things that can’t be controlled. You have a wonderful head on your shoulders, and I love the bravery in being vulnerable and authentic about where you’re at. You can be both grateful for what you have while acknowledging the ways you’re still wanting to grow.
Max you are so inspiring & honestly watching your videos 1)Make my day 2)Motivate me 3)Inspire me to do what I have dreamed about doing but haven’t done. Thank you.
He inspires me so much! He actually inspired me to start creating videos to motive teenagers and young adults to follow their passions and business ventures no matter how young they are. I just made a whole video taking about how I started my media company at age 12 :)
Feel the need to comment on this. I'm 25 and have struggled to try to be creative and find my focus point. The fact that you have found that and are genuine on camera/ trying to help by just giving your perspective... It's amazing and refreshing to me (even at your age). Keep doing your thing and focus on what you want to discuss rather than trying to reach the numbers. More people may be watching because your topics/ perspectives resonate with people. You got this.
i’m only 14 and have already felt that at times. I was creating very general videos because I was not able to come up with a niche I was passionate about. I recently decided that I was gonna move full swing into inspiring young people to start there business and make money with what they love! I talk about all of the lessons i’ve learned when starting my media company from the age of 12. check it out :)
Max, you are very intelligent and so in touch with your inner self. Whatever you end up doing in life, motivational speaker should definitely be one of them.
This is exactly what I went through a couple months ago. In a couple of months I became one of the most popular tiktokers in my country. 2 months ago I stopped because I just couldn’t handle it, every where I went people would stare and I get so self conscious. I’m starting 2 businesses while going to uni, I feel so peaceful now.
I feel the same way. When you have a video that gets more views than others, it gets so easy to get caught up in trying to maintain and gain views. I started my channel because I was struggling mentally too. I have anxiety and so I found talking to a camera in an isolated space was easier than talking to someone face to face. I think all UA-camrs wish to get famous one day, but what has encouraged me is to find a goal that doesn't relate to fame. I do it because I have a passion to learn to edit. My channel is actually a graduation gift for my parents, so I want to make that the focus and let the views come on their own. My friends and other youtubers like you have also encouraged me to keep going.
The way I escape the situation at 2:43 is have the mentality to do anything that would make for a good story, but don't feel the need to share it. As in, don't force a video something. Not every story has to be shared.
Hi Max! You are my role-model towards prosperity. I want to strive hard and achieve great things like you in life. Keep aspiring, Max, and keep inspiring people like me. Awesome.
Congrats on a great job. You Tube and other similar platforms are here to stay. The most difficult thing is creating content and the most important thing is following some simple and basic rules like encouraging your viewers to hit the thumbs up or down, watch till the end and comment. All things that increase revenue for the channel. Don't forget to file your taxes and I am sure you have already started an LLC to manage everything. This is not just lawn mowing money that you are making. We have only begun to scratch the surface with all of this. The potential and the possibilities are endless. The only stress is the stress that you create. Always believe in yourself and if something doesn't go right, chalk it up to a learning moment and never be discouraged as at the end of the day, you at least tried and that says something.
What an awesome video! Great editing and structuring. I think everyone can relate to what you talked about, even if they aren't youtubers, that's what makes this video so great.
I can really feel your authenticity in thought and feeling here Max. This is important for any aspiring creators or really for any facet of life. That belief in yourself is inspiring. Great video dude
I literally a fan of this boy.. It's really show's how u are hard working everyday for achieving your dreams.. U are really a amazing boyy 💚💚.. Biggest fan max 💚
Max, I really agree with you when you talk about the high/lows of getting views! I remember back at the beginning of the pandemic, I made a video that reached over 80,000 views in just a week and a half. I was used to getting maybe 4-5k per video, and this just blew my mind! So at that point, I had so much motivation to make more. Only I didn't know that not all my videos were going to do as well as that one, and that's when I felt for the first time that low. All the next videos after that would struggle to get past 1k views, and at that moment my channel turned from my pride into my embarrassment. Thankfully over time, I realized that it shouldn't matter, and if I like what I'm doing and others too (even if it's "just" a couple of hundred people), then I shouldn't stop. As you said, hard work pays off and eventually I believe I will make 80k views per video! What a great video you made, I enjoyed every 16 minutes of it. Have a great day!
Hey man I can imagine you feel stressed out sometimes. But make sure that YOU are the most important in your life. So if UA-cam is starting to be too stressful, just take a break.
As an aspiring professional tennis player, I totally relate to some of the things you said. Becoming an athlete is a lot of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. I feel guilty about hanging out with people or doing things that are not "productive" I feel like its a waste of my time. (just like you said in the video) I have the opportunity to play and the opportunity to make it big, and I don't want to miss my chance. I consistently feel like I'm pushing back all the "fun" stuff for later and I'm working now so that my future self will be set up for success, but it's like when will we ever learn to really enjoy the moments we are given now lol. I've been working at trying to enjoy the present moment but holy it's hard haha. Anyway, great video Max, keep going I really appreciate you and the community you've built don't know what I would do without y'all. See you in Perspectopia! Much love, tab x)
Remind that this is a game, why you started was for fun and not for bussines of for others... There are always times like this in life, and it´s really good that you´re sharing your feelings with us. So I can tell you that just create what feels right for you.
Don't let the little fame you have achieved go to your head, when my first book was published and sold really well, when I was in BIG demand for media interviews it truly was euphoric. Now it's been a few years and with patience and faith, I am now the subject of two documentaries. So hang in the ere Max, keep up the good work.
Yeah like you said, your video did reach globally so here I am, from Vietnam which so far away but I’m really into your video and stay on waiting for you constantly. I respects for all of your feeling and choices. Lmao, how influence you have on my life that broadens my horizon. You inspired me to believe in myself. I sincerely thanks you.
It's normal to struggle with mental health time to time, my advice is never give up, keep on dreaming, chase it, put the effort and I'm sure that at the end of the day you'll be exactly where you have to :)
Now I'm gonna start studying language, but I said : ( let me go to watch a MAX's video, then I'll start. Because Max motivate me to do my studies. Thanks a lot.
Good for you homie letts go so happy to be apart of this man and dont worry me and you and everyone else gets in their own head to much i need to slow down too man would love to chop it up sometime hope u have a good day boss
I’ve been stuck in phase one for quite a while but I just keep going and posting videos hoping that someday I’ll hit the phase 2 point - thanks for this video Max 😊
I am not a creator with a big following but my take on that is as follows: What you are describing can be applied to art in general. You are really free and open-minded in the beginning, with nobody caring about what you do. Later with more people interested in what you do (I don't want to call them fans, because that's too specific again) you aren't as free and open-minded. You value yourself and your ideas different. But that's perfectly normal. That can lead to constantly improving your art. The problem with UA-cam is that your art is valued against numbers. But these numbers only represent a certain aspect of your art. Therefor it's more difficult to keep the balance between constant improvement and worrying about your numbers. Both come together but shouldn't be considered the same.
They are SO fantastic! He actually inspired me to start creating videos to motive teenagers and young adults to follow their passions and business ventures no matter how young they are. I just made a whole video taking about how I started my media company at age 12 :)
He is so empowering!! He actually inspired me to start creating videos to motive teenagers and young adults to follow their passions and business ventures no matter how young they are. I just made a whole video taking about how I started my media company at age 12 :)
You’re such a cool person Max like hands down you inspire me and I wish I can be more like you! Keep up the work I’m so excited for the future of Perspectopia!
Please do more of this sit down videos. No pressure tho. Really inspiring. Reminded me that I should probably write in my journal more. Not just the sad stuff but also the happy stuff/good progress
I was searching a UA-camr whom I might learn positivity and good things. Plus I would like also to engage myself with native English speakers so that I will enhance my English. Then I found you, Max. I always listen now to all your videos even I'm at work. God bless. More power. Your fan from The Philippines 🇵🇭❤️
Great video max! I will have to say that the feelings you describe in part 2, the addiction part , can happen even before you get the "high". With my new channel, i feel that get sucked into the numbers and totally consumed by UA-cam thoughts, even though i dont even know what it would feel like to have a big channel and following. It makes sense because with passion and the possibility of creating, it can easily take over our minds!
It's difficult to try and cope with social pressure and stress. But I suggest you practice meditation. I also think you should try to manage your tasks equally and spread them apart so you are not overwhelmed. ( You probably do this lol). I'm not a UA-camr, but I do have my own business as young as I am, so I know how it feels to be pressured and therefore feel stressed. I wish all the best for you, Max. :)
@Max we luv u jst the way u r...being a high-schooler change comes ur way rather being true nd being honest is what that matters! Jst pls don't stress....v knw u r our ⭐ chill nd kick off!❤️ Jst being urself is the thing 😁
Okay...this was pretty epic Max. Loved it. The art of "blowing up" is so interesting, Unfortunately, UA-cam is not a meritocracy. I view it this way- I haven't blown up yet, but the moment it happens, UA-cam will have an INSANE amount of videos to use to recommend my channel 😂nah, but the most important thing is to be able to look at your channel with pride. That hamster wheel exists in many components of life. Vanity metrics only take us so far. Creating on youtube for the sake of creating should be everyone's overall goal. At the end of the day, we're left with our work and the stories we create. We want to be proud of it. PS- success can largely come from manifesting. You're right- you HAVE to believe it in order for it to be possible. In other words y'all- walk around like you have 100K. That's my motto 😂 Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. You'll break out of this stage. Can't wait to see what you do in the future.,
Hey, Dude! Easy Dude, everything is going to be okay. Life must go on. Bring it on! Fret not, I stand with you. Warmest regards, Abam Gabz from Malaysia.
Hello everyone! This video is not sponsored but, I've spent the past few months working on the new Perspectopia collection which will go live later on today over at Perspectopia.com - If you'd like to support me, this channel, and a message that promotes a more optimistic way of living, feel free to purchase something (': Thank you! Max
Woww this is sooo helpful and interesting.. I’m in the ”phase one” & putting in a lot of work but still very amateur & figuring everything out.. I love how real you are with the struggles & addiction of being a famous UA-camr, I absolutely LOVE this video & channel. Keep going, you’re amazing Max!! 🥺👏
Hey Max, just wanna say you’re always my inspiration and I always wanna make videos like you. Love the content of this video. It’s exactly what I need to hear right now!!! Thanks for always making good content and share your voice online. I also started my channel this year, but the UA-cam game is so hard...ummm it’s not easy at all. Anyway, hope you can keep your hard work up Max🔥
Found your channel a few weeks ago and I have been enjoying your vids! I just created a UA-cam ( KeyFromVA ) (haven’t uploaded yet) and also have been creating an apparel brand for the past few months and closing in on a launch date. Thanks for the added inspiration and hope all continues to be well for you!!
natalie is one of the strongest woman/teenager I know. Her talent is unbelievable and everyone that has seen her grow knows how pasionate she is. We literally can't expect a video every week, because natalie loves, as she said, making things true to herself. Every video has to be edited and seen a million times before we see it. That's how much she loves filming. I guess if you know max you definetly knew natalie, but if you didn't,I invite you buy her beautiful merch and what her videos.
I got your point. However, as you said in your last video, everything - literally- helps to grow up. So, hanging up with friends is an incredible opportunity to chill, laugh and discover something new. Dating the right friends is a discovery of yourself. Moreover, you should always do what you feel and need to do 'cause you don't know what will happen next. As Steve Jobs says, you can connect the dots only looking backward. You have to trust - optimistically- that the dots will somehow connect in the future. You great Max, have an incredible day!
Let’s go you got this. It started to motivate me to actually niche down on my channel and make videos inspiring teenagers and young adults to follow their passions no matter how young they are :)

Great Job
I really respect how transparent and deep this was. I feel I’m starting to break out of phase one but on a slower cycle. Loving the videos ❤️
Why this kid the most genuine person on this platform! May I bless the algorithm with this video amen 🙏
Your brain is another level of maturity and it's amazing. As a 16 year old I don't think I'm this mature. Good work
I deeply resonated with this.
Thank you.

Love your channel, keep up the good work

Great video max! I will have to say that the feelings you describe in part 2, the addiction part , can happen even before you get the "high". With my new channel, i feel that get sucked into the numbers and totally consumed by UA-cam thoughts, even though i dont even know what it would feel like to have a big channel and following. As a UA-camr with 280 subs, I can relate. It comes down to self worth and morals. Dont let people tell you who you are!
this is so accurate - can relate HARD
You're living my dream and vision man✊
It's difficult to try and cope with social pressure and stress.
Jst pls don't stress....v knw u r our ⭐ chill nd kick off!❤️
Jst being urself is the thing 😁
Hello max, i think im the one filipino who support you! More vids to come and blessing.
Ahh I can’t get over how amazing this channel is & how real you are- will I be watching your whole channel?!! Absolutely 😆😌
I really like ur editing style. Nice job bro
Thank you !
That's my motto 😂
Thank you for being an inspiration to us all. You'll break out of this stage. Can't wait to see what you do in the future.,
It's stressful but you're doing amazing Max, keep going💪🏼❤️

Woww this is sooo helpful and interesting.. I’m in the ”phase one” & putting in a lot of work but still very amateur & figuring everything out.. I love how real you are with the struggles & addiction of being a famous UA-camr, I absolutely LOVE this video & channel. Keep going, you’re amazing Max!! 🥺👏

Amazing video. 🙌 Yes part 2
good content max. Wow you are also very handsome max. I hope your channel will continue to be successful 👍👍😊🙏
natalie is one of the strongest woman/teenager I know. Her talent is unbelievable and everyone that has seen her grow knows how pasionate she is. We literally can't expect a video every week, because natalie loves, as she said, making things true to herself. Every video has to be edited and seen a million times before we see it. That's how much she loves filming. I guess if you know max you definetly knew natalie, but if you didn't,I invite you buy her beautiful merch and what her videos.
finally a video! it was amazing as always!
Yeah...I will definitely be waiting for ..part 2......# love from India...
I'm a simple guy. I see heyxnatalie, I click.
Yo I liked the original title bro.. Sick content
Dude I love your editing skills, so damn creative and inspiring
I got your point. However, as you said in your last video, everything - literally- helps to grow up. So, hanging up with friends is an incredible opportunity to chill, laugh and discover something new. Dating the right friends is a discovery of yourself. Moreover, you should always do what you feel and need to do 'cause you don't know what will happen next. As Steve Jobs says, you can connect the dots only looking backward. You have to trust - optimistically- that the dots will somehow connect in the future.
You great Max, have an incredible day!
Yes! 100% agree - WIshing you all the best as well, cheers!
