i still cant believe people don't know about this game even today, i remember it was a very big deal when it came out but it is what it is, i hope you enjoy playing the game as its very unique as much as a metroidvenia can be unique.
My only resistance is that I don't really enjoy metroidvanias from a gameplay perspective. But it's so great to see the love and effort that goes into them.
Interesting to know that Hollow Knight has been an exemplar in the genre for games to include jabs at the amount of time we've been waiting for Silksong
I like how the game sells you the healing wrench later on in the game in case you missed it earlier. It's hard to miss and 99% of players probably grabbed it when it first appeared, but it's a nice touch
One hell of an review. Gives enough to pique interest, leaves enough to motivate us to get the game, and demonstrates a glimpse of the skill ceiling possible Edit: I know this isn't an advert, but considering this review made me buy the game I say it works as an ad. ...I'll just say review.
i love that the creator of this game put in so many references... both easy and hard to spot.... easy one being the double jump room looks a LOT like metroids powerup rooms
Hey lemon. JK Leeds uploaded his bloodborne canon video, and he found a move in Martyr Logarius' second phase where his projectile shield isn't active. Meaning you could try the Molotov only and see if you could beat him now. Just in case you weren't suffering enough.
17:44 In D&D, mimics can assume any shape roughly the same volume as itself ... including doors, tables, bookshelves, and many other fun objects dungeon masters can think up.
FINALLY!!! I've been saying for years that one of the absolute rules that we need to introduce in games is "if the enemy spawns a minion, their hp MUST be linked"... finally one dev having the right ideas!!!
This is lovely pixel art. It's too often used as a shortcut or poorly thought out style choice. This may have been done to save resources but there's clear effort, no cut corners, and TONS of detail.
So I started playing Rusty’s Retirement around the end of April and have never heard of this game until now then I see this video and think “hey I know that character!”
I played Haiku last year while working on my backlog and it really took me by surprise. It's a great MetroidVania with a surprisingly good story that just oozes charm. Awesome to see it getting more love!
this game is so beautiful and charming with its style and amazing bits and nods to other games, even if its not that obvious there is a lot of references in this game hidden behind its art style, i loved this game so much and I'm happy you did too lemon, praise the cogs. ps- shoutout to my boi Dylan McNeil even in death his still rolling in his grave from excitement waiting for silk song F for respect.
The premise reminds me of the PSP Rengoku. The story is you're a robot in a battle tower area and you fight your way to the top of the tower and drop everything on death for the entertainment of people. It just happens that the people all died off and the robots were still stuck fighting forever.
Lemon, i love your Dark Souls Content, but i need mooooore xD i didn't know what i needed, until i saw your Firebomb-Runs. If there is a chance, doing a "crackpot-/firebomb-Run" in Elden Ring i would be so happy. Until then, you're doing great! Great work, great voice, great patience and last but not least great run-ideas. I hope you reap what you sow. MAY FIREBOMBS TAKE THE WORLD.
This is like a Sonic game: - lots of jumping segrements and stompers - saving your robot friends from a virus infection - rolling mode - sawblade rolling mode - chaos control to teleport - Grappler is knuckles glide, in dangerous That actually makes me wonder if a Sonic Metroidvania could work?
This game kicks absolute ass. Played through recently. Definitely did a few things harder than needed with jump timings over water, before getting upgrade to begate such challenges. Nice Senator Lime-Inverse.
This game gives off extremely strong "Hollow Knight at home" vibes, and they just get stronger the more I watch. Though of course it does seem to be much more than that.
Very cute game, love all the similarities with it and hollow knight. It's like hollow knight 1.5, it has the dreamers, watcher knights, godhome, quirrel, hell even hiveblood. But ontop of all of these similarities is everything different and I love that
Lemon I really truly enjoyed watching you play through this gem of a game. Would you consider doing a corrupted run or playing the game live? Say for a Q&A?
for some reason, I feel like a need to see Lemon play Ori, preferebly both games, and maybe see him cryiing as he finishs the game. not because it's a frustating game, just because of how beatiful, and sad, the game is. also feel like he's going to absolutely love the game, even if he do a hardcore challenge, HECK i dont even care about the challenge, just wanna see him playing through Ori and Blind Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Totally agree on the sentiment of giving players control over their environment and mobility options. Nothing feels better in a game, especially a platformer of some kind, than to be given a bunch of really cool mobility options, and feeling yourself slowly get more skilled at using them efficiently. Metroid Dread was HUGE in this... Getting good at Speed Boosting and learning how to chain Shinesparks? *chef's kiss* Mwah~
Hey! Listen! Darksouls challenge run idea! Pine Resins only! Use the weakest weapon you can find and make it through the game by only buffing it with Resins! Go for it Lemon! And keep up the good work!
oh, i just remembered a silly old Flash game , called "little wheel". it's a point-and-click adventure where you play the part of a robot who has awakened from a LONG slumber, after a power failure knocked EVERY robot out. the main objective is to plug the main power back in. you first have to ride a train to get there, and several other things.
I swear wvery time I see one of these videos and I'm like "eh doesn't look like my kinda game" then I see its lemon and I sprint towards the video at full speed
Hi there lemon! It’s me Melon(or Melanie since my name is in the account xD) I just wanted to say that you are one of my favorite creators in the platform. Your videos inspire me to keep playing games even if sometimes it’s hard to stay doing things I love due to mental disorders and stuff. Your videos always entertain me but also don’t take the charm of games. You give me the itch to play and explore while learning of games in a way that not that many others have done. Stay safe, stay strong and keep at it. You are amazing and loved!
This is a pretty good game, I played it with a while back together with my mom, it has very clearly taken a lot of inspiration from hollow knight but you don't feel like you are playing the same game which is pretty nice.
Haiku is one of my favorite Metroidvanias, I almost 100% it (which is very unusual for me) even! It's not long, I've got 9 hours of playtime on Steam, but that's a feature in my book. It doesn't overstay its welcome. And it has a new DLC I missed so it might be time to revisit!
Oh god one of my favourite content creators does a challenge run in an obscure indie game? Well, got to buy it now. Hope you feel good about that lemon
I love when you do metroidvanias! Please, PLEASE do something with Ender Lilies. It’s legit one of the best games in the genre imo, yet very few people have ever heard of it. There’s a sequel coming out called Ender Magnolias too.
At 10:29 Lemon must not have seen the Robots Movie growing up bc they tell you how robot babies are made and how they get new Upgrades every year to simulate growing.
Lemon I think it’d be fun to see you do corrupted mode with no modules as the next foray into this game, at least no modules that affect combat, so environment based ones would still be on the table
"the TIre Girl is Tired of my shenanigans." LOL! also, "the robots were ACTUALLY possessed" reminded me of an obscure old game i have called "Zax - the alien hunter". in THAT game, the real villain turned out to be a wizard, who had a knack for controlling robots, AND had been pretending to be a friend for most of the story! he used the fake name "Arza-Pan" when speaking THROUGH a robot.
Lemon might be working through his backlog but adding more games to mine. The irony
I would love to try this game after seeing Lemon play it!
i still cant believe people don't know about this game even today, i remember it was a very big deal when it came out but it is what it is, i hope you enjoy playing the game as its very unique as much as a metroidvenia can be unique.
It is the price of the curse that it must be passed to another.
My only resistance is that I don't really enjoy metroidvanias from a gameplay perspective. But it's so great to see the love and effort that goes into them.
Not really irony, but I hope you enjoy it.
"To those in the distant future, should you find my grave, I ask this: Is Silksong out yet?" by Dylan McNeil on the gravestone. Best quote.
Interesting to know that Hollow Knight has been an exemplar in the genre for games to include jabs at the amount of time we've been waiting for Silksong

I don't think this is an ad. He would have to declare it
@@mcbill7352 yeah, probably should've said review instead.
i love that the creator of this game put in so many references... both easy and hard to spot.... easy one being the double jump room looks a LOT like metroids powerup rooms
in the sunken wastes town, you can find wally from the pixar movie wall-e
I was like "why do these characters seem so familiar" and then he walked up to Rusty from Rusty's retirement and it all clicked xd
Hey lemon. JK Leeds uploaded his bloodborne canon video, and he found a move in Martyr Logarius' second phase where his projectile shield isn't active. Meaning you could try the Molotov only and see if you could beat him now.
Just in case you weren't suffering enough.
I can imagine Lemon seeing this, sighing, checking the video, trying it, and then just saying, "Nope".
@JoshuaOdionson the best part is, if lemon has seen my comment, he's not reacting to it so he can claim ignorance and not go through that again
Look at conjuctivius from dead cella
I think it may work if the boss spawning the minions has lower health than other bosses. It's harder to end up dealing damage but it goes down faster.
“Haiku, if you haven’t guessed, is a robot” that made me laugh so much more than it should’ve
This is lovely pixel art. It's too often used as a shortcut or poorly thought out style choice. This may have been done to save resources but there's clear effort, no cut corners, and TONS of detail.
UA-cam boil, UA-cam bubble. A backlogs video to sooth my trouble
I watched it last night, I will say it is a very cute game and I look forward to more runs from it!
Thank you Lemon!

Absolutely insane to think about. Making me feel even older than I already feel over here haha

I never expected a Haiku video, the game kept my Hollow Knight addiction going, I 100% the game on my second playthrough and it was so good
In all honesty, I wasn't expecting this game but I enjoy that you like the game, and how cutesy this fairly violent metroidvania looks
this game is so beautiful and charming with its style and amazing bits and nods to other games, even if its not that obvious there is a lot of references in this game hidden behind its art style, i loved this game so much and I'm happy you did too lemon, praise the cogs.

I just finished the beast claw video when i saw this. Always happy to see another video
this is one of my favorite games ever i'm so happy you're doing a run for it
Splunk is wonderful, I’m so happy they were okay at the end of it.
Never knew this game existed before, and now that I do, I'm gonna need to go play it
I ADORE seeing more games from your backlog!
The premise reminds me of the PSP Rengoku. The story is you're a robot in a battle tower area and you fight your way to the top of the tower and drop everything on death for the entertainment of people. It just happens that the people all died off and the robots were still stuck fighting forever.
Seeing another Metroidvania challenge run makes me hopeful for a Ender Lilies or Blasphemous run!
Let's go! Ender lilies is probably my favorite underrated metroidvania.
@@samnunnink7575 it is so underrated I love it so much and I’ve enjoyed the early access for Ender Magnolia a ton too! just such goood games

It’s cool that this run is actually an achievement in this game. Built-in challenge runs are pretty cool, like re4 remake’s no merchant achievement
Thanks for making my day a little better!!
