  • Kimber is synonymous with 1911 pistols of all sizes, like its Kimber Micro 9 Rapide Black Ice Pistol. But unfortunately, that name hasn’t always been associated with quality or value. But as a lifelong fan of 9mm pocket pistols and 1911s, I wanted to give the Rapide a fair shake. How did it hold up? Let’s take a closer look and find out.

    I’ve had the Micro 9 Raptor for about 6 months and carry it every day. Put around 500 rounds through it and love it.

    Thank you for the video. Now that I moved to sunny, hot af Florida hoodies, sweatshirts, and jackets are rusting in the closet, so my carry options changed. With basketball shorts I pocket carry a Ruger LCP max (holster of course) with shorts that I can wear a belt a Kimber micro 9 or a Sig 365xl but at night a Glock 43x mos with a TRL-7 sub. The Kimber micro 9 runs great but it is small and I do prefer a larger grip but it conceals real nice especially in a lighter shirt, I always carry a spare mag just in case of some type of failure.

    I have the Black Ice as a CC and really enjoy shooting it. One correction: the MSRP is $1,025. You can purchase it for around $925 (includes tax).

    Minor point: all-metal, but not all steel. The frame is aluminum, slide is steel. The Kimber 8-round magazine (not included, mine came with a 6 and 7) extends an inch from the base and I find it really helps with flip. I have the Micro 9 Raptor Shadow, and the texturing on grip panels, back strap and front strap make a huge difference. The Rapide Black Ice (I typed it in THE VOICE) has great texturing. Some of the special editions (Sapphire, Bel Air) look great but are super slippery - minimal/no texture - with the flush 6-rd mag, one less finger on the grip. For pocket carry, I like the Sticky (size SM-5) holster. Old man ramble: The slim size and SA+safety (ambi on mine, I'm left-handed) makes it a comfortable chambered carry for me. My HK VP9 striker fire gives me the willies - seen too many Glock leg videos to change from a 1911 style (SA+safety) or DA/SA like the P30. Love my P30SK and that 12-lb DA pull, but the slim single-stack Micro9 is what I always have. Won't do me any good if it isn't with me!

      Wow exactly why I was watching this video! I have a HK P30 as well and it’s just a tad bigger for comfortable carry than I’d like so was checking out this Kimber. A nightfall edition

    How does this match up to a g43x

    I like Kimber; own a 1911 Raptor ll 45 acp. and the K6s 357 magnum revolver. I have pocket carried my Sig 938 over a decade reliably so it’s hard for me to justify this expensive Rapide with my Sig 938 & K6s.#Kimber#Sig

    I don't care what name you put on the Micro 9, it is a fine gun. Just add a green laser and you can even shoot from the hip!

    Bond Arms Bullpup 9mm is showing up online again in bulk numbers, for as low as $999. It is smaller than this firearm, & has a 3.35" long barrel. It's my EDC, 7+1 in the chamber, no safety, just a long double-action on every shot.

    • @AmmoLandTV
      @AmmoLandTV  Рік тому +2

      Yeah. I've actually got one back when they were still made by Boberg. I like it, but with two little boys who treat dad like a jungle gym, I like the added security of a manual safety.

      I really like the idea, but would rather have one with a longer barrel to take advantage to the configuration. a 4-3/4 " barrel would make it about the same size as colt pocket hammerless, the perfect carry size in my opinion.

    I got the Dawn micro 9mm
    When it first came out after 3 months of having it the finish started coming off I called kimber to get it fixed they tried to charge me for the finish they did end up fixing the guy for free told me they would only do it one time well got the gun back looked good. A few months went buy and the same thing happened it just sets in my safe now got a colt defender for my everyday carry. Good luck to yall my girlfriend has the Black ice and has never had a problem she has had it about 3 years

    On of my shooting buddies is a Kimber fanatic and he bought tbis pistol shortly after it came out. He sold it shortly after that. It suffers from thecsmall gun deseases of short grip, shory barrel, short site radius, heavy trigger, snappy recoil.

    I’ve owned several kimber guns and I haven’t come across one that is reliable. I would never go into a gun fight with a Kimber. Not worth the $$$$$ you spend.

  • @macriggland6526
    @macriggland6526 Рік тому

    I mean, even if it works (which I doubt) it’s still not enough barrel to get adequate 9x19 performance. Would be better if it was in .380, .40, or .45 auto.
    If you can get your hands on some PPU subsonic 158 grain (overall bullet length of .740 inches) then you might have something that will reliable tumble within the bullet host.
