In my younger days, I began to date a girl shortly before I received my acceptance letter to grad school. After we agreed to give long distance a chance, we tried to make the most of the remaining time before I had to leave. In my mind, I felt if we had more memories tying us together, it would make long distance easier to work out. The scene before they separate reminded me of the last night we had, before I boarded my flight for the opposite coast.
Well, long story short it didn’t work out. For a time we held on, but any semblance of a real relationship fell apart amidst the stress of our now separated lives (she was also in school), and just.. our general immaturity and lack of realistic expectations. And when I found out about her infidelity I wasn’t even truly devastated or angry. Rather it was a deep sense of disappointment at the futility of our whole ordeal. Even so, the few months together before I moved away were some of the happiest times I’ve ever had in any past relationship. Now I’m more than a handful of years older, and happily engaged to my partner - and my mind very rarely goes back to that particular time in my life. Why am I telling a bunch of strangers this? Maybe that’s the beauty of art, such as this short film. It reminds us of long lost moments and touches us emotionally in unexpected ways. Cheers, and great work.
ours doesn’t haven’t had its human life existed destroyed toward appropriate elevation membrane several years ago so the only reason i know about the human body is to be safe from these things would’ve had an impact into it as an evolutionary mechanism and then we had the ability form a large part on another body of life which is what the brain has to decompose and then my office exists second and third to be destroyed inside sorry that happened but i am very aware of that because i was born with this disease including a disease that has caused me death wanted online attacks trust me it was not my own but my body and the way it affected the way my heart was affected my ways planning trust me it has been through the trauma that i was dealing with it has been very stressful existence yesterday and morning early afternoon edibles myself
We ended it by saying "I'll see you soon" we both knew that wasn't true but we wanted to leave each other with a smile as if we'll see each other again someday, an open ending.
(this was 9 years ago)
I love the writing, and how you subtly convey the situation without directly telling the audience so it’s like a puzzle we figure out as we watch. As someone who has been in this exact situation this is so relatable; beautifully done.
So good to see Brandon out here in these roles. He plays some great characters.
Amazing work! Honestly, having gone through something like this, it couldn`t have been portraied any better. It's so nice for the time it lasts and especially the small things are the ones that start growing on you. But every now and then when you start to think that you might have a future with this person, the thought of that time is limited and that the thing you enjoy so much is going to end on a fixed date becomes more present over time. The last couple of days it literally is the only thing you can think about while there are some moments when you just enjoy the last bit of company ever so much more. In the last couple of hours this sad feeling just lingers within you and you start going through the what if's in your head. You know the other person is thinking the exact same and yet you wonder what is going through their head. Once again, not only did you have great cinematography but you conveyed the exact emotion, the exact feeling that one has in a situation like this!
bro.....
Bruhh
I've been in a long distance relationship throughout the pandemic, and I don't get a lot of chances to see them. This one was pretty visceral for me. Thanks for this!
Oh god that sidewalk scene perfectly captures that LDR feeling. Just the times I’ve had to sit and watch my parter talk with our friends as the clock winds down, knowing that we only have a finite time together. But also didn’t wanna be the asshole that buts in and takes all the time for myself.
damn bro, agreed
Oh yeah, it makes me extremely salty
Dude, I legit experienced this just last month after moving away to a brand new city. We were hanging out with friends during our last moments and I couldn't appreciate my time 1:1. I definitely felt like I needed more time...
The cinematography work in this project is phenomenal. I'm so curious to how you all achieved that type of soft light in those dark environments without losing the image quality. Every shot contributed to the tone in a great way and I loved the transitions and pacing. Congrats to everyone involved!
Totally agree. That's what was going thru my head as well as I was watching it, the quality of the cinematography. Great acting as well.
Simple Silence done well will capture all the emotions we feel in our heads but can't properly verbalize and express. Beautiful short! Keep it up Sean! Also... in before Brandon REALLY blows up!
I genuinely love it. The subtle ness that can’t be explained in words is only made relatable through shorts like this.
I did a double-take when I saw the NYC subway stairs because I didn't recognize the scenery at first. Felt like something I could've experienced in high school, and I like how the puzzle pieces fell into place. Beautiful story-telling..!! And very thoughtful answers during the interview. Thank you WongFu as well for showcasing such talent!
yesterday doesn’t want kind problems existing ones place trust trade existing section of my wall probably trust experts section unemployment plan explain to them that they have the right of way into this property they can’t do that and then i can go back in to work for the rest of this year to fix it but they can’t do it right now i have no problem with them getting it back up again they have an option mystery explain section trust me and they don’t have any problem i have to go back and get it fixed and i can do that but they will fix this trust existing part and they can do the work they have their work they have collected trust me and they can get it from my wife
This was honestly one of the best short films I’ve seen in a while. It’s so cinematic and layered but the story is so pure and simple. Bravo.
This was an excellent short. Loved seeing the city and the story hits the heart
Loved this! The look of the film, the writing, the actors, the sound design. Thank you for this 💛
ah, this hits too close to home ahaha
as an international student, being able to maintain/settle my life in one place for a few years seems strange. I see people come and go, in and out of the country all the time. I also have to say goodbye so many times I can't even count. Goodbyes for me can be "I'll see you around" or "uh I'm not sure if I can ever see you again, this is probably the last goodbye"
it sucks the most when you build/have such a great bond with someone (either friends, romantic partners, a random auntie,...), and in the back of your head, you always know that you might one day not be able to see them physically ever again
sometimes it can be good, bittersweet, or very difficult and painful
but saying goodbye eventually doesn't feel as hard anymore :') the nature of life, I guess ahaha
I am an international TCK too, I know exactly how you feel. This video reminded me of many goodbyes.
Loved this short ! And love wongfu! Thank you guys for wanting to showcase other artist 👏🏽
I'm not crying, there is just a lot of dust in my eyes right now...
So relatable since something similar just happened to me too...
Why are these not on Netflix and stuff? SUCH HIGH QUALITY WORK AS ALWAYS ❤🔥
Fantastic work! Love shorts which lets silence do its thing. The awkward half sentences and the unsaid anger at the situation. So good.
The bit when they open the apartment door and the suitcase is there too. Subtle but so good.
This is by far the best one you've presented, Wong Fu!
Always thrilled to see these productions and story telling, great work. Less is more.
This is insanely beautiful, I especially love the sound composition-every part of the sound is perfectly integrated into the flow of the short. The cinematography is beautiful, the color and tone are exquisite. This is some very primo shit, right here. Thanks for presenting it, Wong Fu and thanks for making it Sunday team.
Loving all these Wong Fu presents!!
I loved! Interesting and surprising to see that there is still purity and delicacy in such chaotic times. The direction and the script bring this with mastery and present us with rare delicacy this important phase in the lives of all of us. The complicity and depth in the actors' work is incredible. I really liked!
These videos always makes our days better
I really like the color grading and shots in this! Beautifully made.
Brought back so many memories for me, all the emotions came rushing through half way when I figured where the story was going. Good job in portraying this story!
Very NY feel!!! It makes me think back to my dating and relationships in NY with friends, gf etc. Love it. The scene with the lamp in the bedroom, too. Lighting too good
Excellent job! Really pulled me in from the jump and was very emotional. Thanks for sharing
These two are braver than me. I just break away like a bandit.. no hugs, no goodbyes, no words, the Irish exit.
I liked how you did an interview at the end. It really helped to understand the short a bit more and felt like a very... fostering environment of introducing the writer.
Love all the new content. Keep it up!
beautiful cinematography + Wong Kar Wai vibes!
so subtle, but you hit everything perfectly. thank you for creating this
Really enjoyed this! The actors did great as well
so great. conveyed so much without words. the actors were amazing, and the direction was given were great.
Sean Wang is Oscar nominated now! Crazy to see what he's up to now! Looking forward to watching Didi!
this was beautiful thank you for sharing this!
I have been there. I was on active duty with the military at the time and I was departing for overseas. She said she would wait. But I was convinced she would meet someone else and I did not want her to feel guilty about moving on. If I made it back, I was not returning to an assignment close to her city anyways. I told her she was going to be OK, to be happy, and live her life. I kissed her good-bye and walked to the airport TSA checkpoint.
She waited for me. I made it back home. We have been married for 15 years now.
I enjoyed watching, it's well done, as you connect quickly to the story.
so touching! and so beautifully shot too =)
I’m crying awww this is so relatable
I need more WongFu Presents!
beautiful cinematography and the composition is amazing
This was so cute !!! and got me emotional
Fantastic video keep it up your doing amazing job
That was a stupendous short film! Thank you so much for sharing these painful but beautiful experiences of love with us. I hope to see more of your work in the near future
This is so real from someone who is in a similar situation.
This was amazing.
Felt this one. Keep it up man!
They played the characters so good
So little was said at the end of the short, but I felt so much emotion! Beautifully made!
Very relevant and almost made me cry.
I love the ambiguity of the story
dammmmn.. the cinematography, color grading and soundtrack
not understand the film - but leaving a comment for engagement! support WFP!
Awesome
gosh what a moving short film.
It's OK....I haven't got dust in my eyes!!!!!
Brandon Soo have similar nose 👃 appearance like me!!!! I loved him 😍
Really moving film, thanks Sean and crew
This film is so good. It resonated with me. It's bittersweet. It made me smile and cry. Love it.
Also, I enjoyed the open discussion at the end. It's informative and enhanced my appreciation of the project. Thank you.
Ooh the sound is v good, unexpectly
I Stan Brandon Soo Hoo
Go WongFu!
Wowwwwwwwww
wow!
I like the film on your chanel, I really want to know why did " Meeting mommy" disappear from your channel ?
rewatched and cried again
Why the title Sunday?
I can appreciate subtleness: this is just confusingly vague. Kinda understand the original intention, felt it could have been executed better
Does anyone know what the piano theme is? The one in the subway?
LOL THE CHLAMYDIA JOKE, I see what you did there
Is soo hoo zuko yet?
Bro, I was like 12 years old when I watched their skit Technology ruins romance, this video popped up on my subscription, and just seeing the channel name made me feel so damn nostalgic lol
Just curious . Since Semantic Error ( Korean BL) has become a big hit all over Asia, even surpassing the popular K-dramas on Netflix, and gained tons of positive feedback from the international fans, will Wong Fu consider producing some BL shorts?
Cinematography was great though
first
Omg. Good work. Made me feel like being in my 20’s. Please keep it up to motivate us
The girl was Indian right?
Yep, Deepti Menon is her name
whys no one talking about the alice in borderland reference lol
what is the alice in borderland reference?
That moment when he’s trying to get ice cream not to happen 💔
First
I wish i could of had this as a last night. Would of been easier.
they found a younger Michael Cera
Damn feels bad
First?
Dude looks like younger Raymond Wong Ho-yin
Woody Allen vibes
While we'll done it left me with more questions than answers so I felt the story was cut short. I understand concept but for me I like to know more about characters to feel better connected.
she's got a stalker... 😲
amazing film but still, no shoes inside
Wong Fu Productions-
Your video's title is lacking clarity, and "Sunday" is day of the week.
Kinda don't know what happened there
我靠他的。
i will admit i was confused during the first scene, it seems like hes hiding something and less like hes concerned about something...i almost thought the friend was trying to steal the girl or hint at that the MC didnt like the friend, he seemed more annoyed than concerned
also not sure what the reluctancy to not get ice cream was about...it seemed more like there was some animosity there that might have had something to do with the friend
I thought he wanted to spend more time with his gf because his time with her is limited. He didn't want to spend it with other people but rather try to enjoy his last moments with her
*It just felt like it could have been executed better. I got the same vibe. But overall, it just felt very meh.*
@@AzNightmare +1 felt the same
Thought the guy was a serial killer....
