I will never look at a person's grocery items the same way ever again
Yeah, it was deep.
Same
Haha yea for real! Although i probably wouldn't be so accurate with my assumptions. 😂
A
Just like those caves.
great now i cant go grocery shopping without feeling that they're silently judging me. self-check out it is.
use it enough and maybe cashier's will be a thing of the past
Never thought I'd think about that. =.=
you could order your groceries online but then Amazon is judging you especially when you order exotic items.
i felt like they r judging us...long time ago
We are.
That whole idea of "I want you to return all of these" was mindblowingly good. idk if its been done before, but if it hasn't then props to you Phil for writing that ^_^
I agree, it was a great concept. He's coasting through life, and she sort of becomes his spirit guide who inspires him to break the monotony of daily life.
That was amazing but I was more so heart broken that they wouldn't get to experience all that together and there is no way for either of them to communicate so whether or not they'll ever see each other again is all up to chance (and pretty unlikely) Usually when a really really special someone gets away from you you try to forget them but he's living his life in remembrance of the one that got away and he'll probably never get back! Idk why I watch these, I cant handle it! lol
most elaborate friend zone rejection ever
ahaha
Wahahah😂

Shorts like this were the reason I quit my day job for UA-cam. Thank you for inspiring me- this is incredible.
thanks for sharing this to twitter I totally have tears in my lunch now though! awesome video
Thank you Megan!!! The feeling is mutual! BTW, anytime you need a guest on Right Now ;)
Holy crap Megan you're so beautiful and talented as an actress, I always love seeing you in shorts.
That’s stupid
Hannah Grace and she’s famous now so what’s your point.....
why the f are people complaining about this. I felt like this was great. the pacing was perfect because it reflects how life is, where you can have someone come into your life, have an impact but also leave your life but leave a lingering emotion
It does work, but its kind of a surprise to everyone I think. the dialoge between characters was a bit cheesy. needed more build up to make sense/ to relate to. it was okay, but they could have done better. Still love wong fu though.
I cried
I think the people who say it's sad they didn't get together don't understand the story. Although you may like other people, it's about chemistry AND timing. Sometimes it isn't right for both of you and sometimes people need to leave. What matters is you touched each other's lives and experiences may be shared if you let them. :)
I'm in that process right now. Not easy
Thank you
That was deep. Thank u
aww i'm saving this:) gotta remind myself this if the guy i'm in love with ever has to leave, thank you
She said "I am not ready," but she meant "I don't want to date a cashier who's working in a Chinese supermarket."😂😂😂😂
Bro Why she doesn't want to date him? This story is s sad story man
Motrice R a Chinese culture, my mother always made sure I know enough about the person's background such as where their family came from, was their family wealthy or at least surviving in the world or the individual itself, do they have a stable job, good education and such.
exactly lol
LOOKS. MONEY. STATUS. WATCH FACEANDLMS
that's why in the end, she should have wrote her a note, stating he won the lottery and now filthy rich......but that HE still works as a cashier to see if anyone will REALLY love him for who he is and not just his money-------14 minutes later, she speeds back from the mountains, and enters the grocery store.....
Everytime I see Wong Fu Production short movies/series, all of the actors/actresses/youtubers are way better at acting than most hollywood stars!!!
And not to forget the production and stories are the better than some hollywood movies!!
You're cooked
you must be watching Michael Bay movies
Meow!!! :3
I love this skits
Whoever wrote that letter has some pretty nice handwriting.
It was all jenn
Exactly what I was thinking!
Definitely good penmanship
Shit on ig he or she @ j.doewrites. Or was it j.doe_writes
Honestly, it's also probably Julie's. I mean, most Asian girls i know have such nice handwriting. Lol
Tell me why I never had a romance like this when I was a cashier at target for three years. 😭
Good one Lee yang! hahaha!
Your story could had been in WF short clip of "How we never met" wow, those guys must had been blind ;)
Hang in there beautiful, your significant other will arrive to your life at the right moment, perhaps it wasn't the time for him to arrive on those past 3 years but in a near future I'm sure he will arrive
In James defense, he got a cool stache'
because it only happens at 99 Ranch lolol
meeting somebody in your life doesn't always mean you'll end up with them, but rather the opportunity they end up guiding you to without you knowing. They gave each other a new meaning in life. She traveled the world because of meeting him, and because they liked each other at the wrong time, got him out of the grocery store to travel and see what she has seen. It's how the universe works. This is turn has changed both their outlook on life and probably mindset and are now doing amazing things. Beautiful...
is anyone gonna talk about how nice her writing is
that is actually Jen's writing haha not Julie's
Kanade oh ok, btw ur profile pic and name are life
I think every asian girl has writting this neat. Jks but it is probably close to the truth.
ARE YA'LL GONNA IGNORE THE FACT THAT JAMES WAS CHECKING HER OUT THE ENTIRE TIME. LMFAO
Get it, "checking her out".
Ahhh nice one
You're great
Lmaoooo
That taken a second to ''register'' but i got it in the end.
They are good actors
@tieuquy linthinh lol what?
Wong Fu making groceries romantic XD
Lol true! Actually, one of my teachers met his wife at a grocery store 😂
"Are you asking me out?"
"Yeah… because I like you."
Damn I wish a guy would be that straight up with me 😩.
You should be straight up with us!
"are you asking me out?"
"yeah... because I like you."
"I like you too."
+legitmontrellthigpen I was going to day the same thing 😂
Touché
lol thats how i asked my girlfriend out
good point. life is full of good and bad things. we can't always expect good things to happen without accepting the bad as well.
No 99 ranch market cashier will help you to your car lol
Not unless you're a hot girl.
exact thoughts
Not true, I once helped an elderly couple with their bags to their car
you said it yourself, 'once' lol
To be fair I only worked there a few months lol
IN REALITY: *texts him* hey james sorry for what happened check out where i've been *sends photos*
Lol sad reality
IN REALITY: *dumps box in trash without reading letter*
😂
Wong fu videos always remind me life is short and I shouldn't be a bitch when it comes to asking girls out.... And yet I'm still a bitch about it... But shit...
And the eye sweats start rolling out of my eyes when Lin's note said to return them and I was "Fawwwwk, feeeeeels"
LOL!
Lesson of the video: YOU DON'T KNOW ME, BRO! But, yes, adventure. Not at the same time, tho, because YOU DON'T KNOW ME, BRO!
HAHAHA
Annnd: yeah I said "I like you," but FRIENDZONE bro
Yeah, this is some Jedi-level friendzone.
"Yeah, sure I wanna travel the world!.... just not with you. But with all your ideas!!.... But not with you."
"Yeah, we can go to all those places!..... just not at the same time."
I get her liking him and not being ready for a relationship, but hoping that he'll he'll still be there waiting for you after you've gotten your shit together is just looking for disappointment.
Either he won't be there because he's found someone else, or he won't be there because he's a different person and has moved on from you emotionally.
One of the most elite friendzones I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Absolutely elite.
When rich people can travel the world to get over a broken heart..
Or when you work really hard so you can travel the world but if you live in the states and your poor you are probably already fucked.
Right lol, like thse are 1st world problems lol
U dont have to be rich to travel the world.
when people have had a relationship so they can actually have a broken heart..
You don't even know what poor means you lucky bastard. Even with best job here, and I save everything I can. I will be needing 10 years to save enough money to travel America or Europe(just a single spot). And only if I save every penny possible for the trip. But need to save 20 years if I had regular job. That's like spending your whole life to see a city. Lol
I like how at 11:15 James takes his steps in sync with the piano playing. Its like the piano keys represent the steps James will take towards his future, and like each piano note contributes to great music, each step you take will contribute to the life you live.
underrated

OMG this hit me to the heart. 3 years ago, a guy who used to like me brought me a stone he collected all the way from a town in Italy and he told me to return it to the town in Italy. Though things didn't work out between me and him and we both have since moved on, the stone is still sitting on my desk. But I never forget it. I will travel to Italy one day and bring the stone along :)
Just out of curiosity, have you done it yet? If you did, how was the experience and how was Italy?
^ same question.
have u done it yet
@@joseflaya7085 Probably haven't yet due to covid
Go get it done
This short was great! Loved the pacing and filmography, and I didn't think it was too cheesy. Also, lots of people in the comments section are mentioning quite sarcastically that it "must be nice to have money to travel" - if you're actually serious about having these experiences, that shouldn't be an issue. You don't have to go very far to find adventure or explore. Even if you can't afford to go to someplace far, just look at a map of your surroundings, and see what transportation you have available. There are lots of beautiful places around us but we don't usually know about it. Sometimes all it takes is a bus ride to get to some incredible places. And if it's only meaningful to you if you're going very far, you can always save up and wait for a time in your life (which will most certainly come at some point) when you do have the means to go wherever in the world you want -- they didn't specify when in time James went traveling. Anywho, thank you to everyone who helped out with this short for bringing it to us ^_^
Precisely! Most ppl get comfortable with their own surroundings not realizing there's beautiful places all around us. The cities we live in might be tourist attractions for ppl in other parts of the world. Remember that 😉
Not only that but if people stopped going to the club and spending hundreds of dollars. You would have some nice money saved up at the end of the year to take a nice trip. Its all about priorities. Do you have want to travel or get drunk every weekend.
Bro cashiers at the market and he has money to go to Mexico and the Grand Canyon. I am switching my career path ASAP!

Quit my college tmr
May be he secretly owns the store 😝
budget airlines and a lot of bagpacking with strange hillbillies lolol
Bruh his parents are Asian
The thing about wong fu is that isnt like romance movies its realistic it doesnt have over the top handsome actors and unrealistic turns
What Lynn said was so true. My bf broke up with me a month ago and I’m still struggling with it. There’s too much here reminds me of him. So I decided to go backpacking to Southeast Asia by myself. Hope it makes me feel grown. Thank you from Japan
In all honesty, I am in love with all of your shorts. Often times when you watch some movie, you enjoy it but it doesn't really reach your emotions, while your shorts always hit me and I can't help to feel something! Soo good 😊
Plus I now wanna go on an adventure now, just anywhere 😄
Do it! Go visit those clouds in mexico and put it in a bottle and send it to Wongfu!
+I am Max I should do that lol gotta work for another year and 11 months though
I agree.
last time i went to a grocery store, i bought a bunch of frozen cauliflower and dino nuggets. what does that say about me?
hahahahaha benson
you're a kid
you can't cook
a kid that in the process to become a healthy person
Dino nuggets? Imitation dinosaur flesh?
WongFu never fails to make me smile. The cinematography and actors were on point. I love you guys💕
I could easily tell before if it was Phil or Wes' writing. But this one. It's like Phil and Wes made love and had a baby.
What are their respective styles in writing?
hahahahaha the perfect description..i was confused bcus it has both wes and Phil's vibes there
@@bighandsjohn phil writes serious love stories dat deal with mostly relationships that dont work out but makes a healthy improvement in d luvers lyf....nd wes writes unconventional or sci fi luv stories...
This one ws lyk a mix of both
oh shit this cinematography is good.
felt like i was watching a movie
+AhnTheTop IKR! I wish I could do stuff like this. I'm gonna try and learn more about videography or whatever it's called
I hope you've seen the short they made, Komorebi. It's so beautiful. Actually all of their shorts are :')
I cannot think of a girl who would not think that what that guy did was NOT creepy. It is one thing to be observant, it is another to reveal that you are and what you have deduced from it.
Search UA-cam for their "Is it creepy or romantic?" video
Plus they'd already had about a dozen of these little meetings by now, so I guess her creepiness threshold was higher at this point
it helps to not be ugly
+Kevin Hsu: I highly agree. If a girl thinks the guy is good-looking, she might not consider the behavior as creepy. Some girls like that certain guys "pay attention to the details" or "notice" them.
Like if he had started his own 'adventure' and followed her home ';..;'
As I'm getting closer to finishing up my senior year at university, I often wonder.. "where will I be" "Where will I go" "What do I want do before I settle down at a job?" "am I going to be complacent with my job once I get it? or am I going to have that drive like nothing can stop me as I do now" I hope I remember to revisit this video in a year from now
So WTF happened to you?
Everyone comes here looking for Something , but they don't always get what they need.
Hits so hard
That shine on her leg is visible from space
This is Wong Fu's strength...touching love stories!!! More please!!!
sometimes it's not about love. sometimes it's about exploring parts of yourself you didn't even know you were hiding. take your own journey.
I want to be an actor in a Wong Fu video. Help me out guys
same
You would be great for it 😭
You look awsome for it.
I was a cashier at Ranch 99 so this video is relatable to me on a very specific level
Bruh I work at the store where they film this video 😂
+Anita Ho In My Life which is in which city? LA?

Anita Ho In My Life Have you seen Bart Kwan or Geo Antoinette there?
Aidan A I've seen the Fung Brothers there all he time
So is this a story from Phil's past? :D I remember he mentioned during Lunchbreak that one of his works in the past is from a certain grocery store. There's a line in the grocery aisle confrontation regarding "baggage", within a grocery store. I see what you did there. :P I liked how Lynn(?) is encouraging James to go out there and explore, to know himself more, just as how exploring let her understand herself. Not all stories end in happy ever after, sometimes life is just like that. Great video guys. :)
oooh that's interesting... I remember that lunch break! maybe that's an inspiration of this short.
Its really amazing how well you guys do your shorts. How a 12 minute long video can evoke more emotional feelings than a 2 hour long movie is what make you guys amazing. Story and cinematography is 11/10. Please never stop making videos ever :)
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
This is what I call fine arts, from visual to psychological... The most soothing 12 minutes I have spent in a long time. Thank you guys for sharing your beautiful talents!
Amazing!
Plot Twist: he never receives the box. He was off to the deep caves in Mexico to follow her advice and meets a girl that was ready to fall in love.
damn good plot twist lol
They needed the vitasoy bottles..
The emotional Wong Fu shorts are always my favorite! Stellar job guys!
They still have a the best UA-cam videos over all these years
The best product placement video ever
Rebekah Feliciano true but still emotional
I fell in love with the actors they are so good
This is why I'm always anxious when I'm buying a shovel and bleach
Lol
Gotta buy them separately

I really loved this one. I know you guys love to do drama, and it's part of the reason why I subbed you all those years ago. My only little critique is that maybe, just maybe, once in a blue moon, you could do something that has an all around happy ending. You know, guy gets the girl sort of thing. Some people think happy endings are just cliche, but I disagree. As much as there is drama in life there is also happiness. I'd just love to see a happy moment captured in one of your shorts. This wasn't a bad ending, but it was open and unsure. I guess I like closure on stories. Take of that as you will...I'ms o nervous Single by 30 will end sadly. I love it so much and look forward to all the new episodes, but you guys don't always take the happy road in your stories as I mentioned. Guess I'll find out in a few weeks when it finishes up. Thanks for all the great videos over the years, I still love your stuff, just had an opinion.
Watch "Just a nice guy" , it has a happy ending :) it is one of the older WF-Videos, but still one of the best #wongfu4life
I guess it's all about perspective.
To someone like me, this kind of ending is the best ending it could have been.
Kinda reminds me of spirited away. There's a touch of romance but in the end the bigger picture has nothing to do with romance and leans more towards a personal narrative with a friendship as the catalyst.
But that's just my opinion.
And I really look forward to their next video! :)
Hi! :)
Like I said, I loved the video. It just became something I wasn't expecting. Which can both be good and bad. And I do know they have made happy ending type videos before, it just seems lately that they've gone down a different path with more drama and less happy. More stuff dealing with break ups type of stuff. Again, just my opinion, I still like their stuff overall. They are one of the greats on UA-cam.
I agree with your comment. I also would like to see them do a thriller or something outside of romance. I know romance is their thing and I love their romantic shorts, but I know they do well beyond romance cuz Ive seen it
I've been watching a bunch of these Wong Fu videos, and they definitely are getting me 'in my feelings'. I keep feeling like there's something in my eye....
Julie Zhan I've seen in a few now, and she's a great actress! She should have blown up by now!
Omg the end almost brought me to tears... Y'all should expand this story to where he travels to see all the locations and at the last one they end up finding each other or something...this could be a great movie OMG I'm hooked...
too bad a cashier would probably not be able to afford going to all these places
i had the exact thoughts while watching!!!
Unfortunately 🙁
Unless you hitchike to all the places 😂 hiking is absolutely free, just depends on whether you're willing to find ways and means to getting to certain place.
lol exactly unless he had saved up alot in the bank
+Lily is (Spartanøftherainbøws)
he makes $50/hr as a cashier obviously lol
I thought I was the only one that thinks grocery items tell stories. The bottles were beautiful. I love your stories so much. Makes a rough day seem worth it and I always find new perspectives.
wow, gotta say I loved it. The way you guys twist your stories at the end so originally. Really heart felt stuff. Gives that good feeling to watch what you guys make, and it's so inspiring to me, and I'm sure others too, who want to get into the business of film making or story writing. I don't know what else to say except that you guys please keep on keeping the original film making family that you are. And hey if you ever find yourself in South Africa in need of a young actor/ aspiring author you know I'm there xD. Seriously though love you strangers. Thank you for all the good times!
Lawrence Kao acts incredibly in this.
Philip, you are the man! for some weird reason, watching this short video gave me goosebumps, your just amazing writer man! no homo on the goosebump part. lol
I didn't know u watch Wong fu
+Jacob Pagaduan lol. I watch pretty much everything that is good my friend. Philip here is the man when it comes to having AMAZING ideas and making it into videos. I dunno why he hasn't gone big yet. blows my mind.
yeah, the "no homo" part sounds like you time traveled from 2012 or something.
ha ha ha thats so funny i love it
You're*
"..and this is my way of saying, thanks" I literally felt like crying. I FREAKING LOVE PEOPLE WHO ARE THIS OPEN ABOUT TALKING DEEP STUFF AND SHARING FEELINGS. PROPS TO WONG FU. IM YOUR FAN FOREVER. WONG FU FOR LYFEEEEE
So aesthetically pleasing, it hurts.
The fucking feels man. Growth is never always comfortable or fair, but if we don't do it, than we aren't more than machine.
Why does this video make me feel like such a loser, I feel like I should just try to go hiking to as many places as I can now
I know! But I'm broke af haha
+Marco Rosas Same
You guys don't have to go far. Local City/Suburban park walks are pretty nice. And national/provincial(state)/conversation parks will usually have a nice long trail as well. In my experience, the government owned parks are nicer since they are chosen by that province (or state) to represent their natural greenery. As well as to make money for them.
+Natasha Naima
that grocery store must pay pretty well to send him to all of those places
I have the money but I dont have friends to go with :(
for anyone that thought that the middle part was kinda of cringy. understand that its is purposeful and the director wanted to convey the awkwardness of the situation, and they did it really well i mean we've all be in weird situations like that, and they've captured that really well.
You create some of the best story lines I’ve ever seen...and I’ve seen over 5 decades of work.
I never saw that gift coming. "Retrun all those things where they came from"? That is the most awesome gift i've ever seen/heard of.
That was beautiful.. What a smart way to do promotions.. Wong fu, You guys are beyond brilliant. Hats off.
This was beautiful, the camera work, the music, the writing... really hit a chord in me.
I haven't cried in about 3 or 4 years and this video made me cry.
This is the best short story/movie I have ever seen!
This video is brought to you by VITA
BAHAHAHHAHAGAGAGAGAGAGAA LMAO
and 99 market lol
Makes me wanna go out n down a few quarts of soy milk; grow some breastesses (•)(•)
At first, I thought it was a Wes short, but job well done Phil! Love it so much!
After the first 10 seconds, I'm really craving that Vita tea.
The fact that the setting is a 99 Ranch makes this short 10x better.
Asian supermarkets FTW
I absolutely LOVED this. You guys hit it out of the park every single time!
I have tears in my eyes the whole time, this is so beautiful.thank you Wong fu for yet another great short.
the whole bottle thing reminded me of one of your guys' other short film, A Piece of Home (I think that's the name)
! great memory!
We always knew Wes was a heartbreaker 😭💔😂
Omg it was kinda cringy in the middle part lol
But love the ending
I totally agree, there just wasn't enough build up to have a big "fight" like that. And how can you like someone after spending maybe an hour with them?
+steph0804 it wasn't just an hour. The video implies continuous meet ups to her car. I'd say through a course of no more than three months they met and from time to time they'd spend time together. Yes the build up was slow and not as strong as other wong fu videos. But I like this video Becuz it left you having to assume the rest of the times they spent. I'm not saying their perfect with every video. And your right there's some parts that could've been better. But the video I really like is because of how they left you to fill the gaps of what you don't know
Okay I can see where you're coming from, but I feel like they left too many gaps to fill this time and the chemistry between the two leads is a bit lacking, and hence cringeworthy.
Also, 15 minute meet ups 6-7 times over 2-3 months = total of 2.5 hours spent together (at max) Still not a lot of time to actually like a stranger
+steph0804 yeah your right. But I guess that's the beauty of it. I try to stay optimistic with Wong fu Becuz my dream is create film and seeing them do it is inspiring and even when there are mess ups I still smile Becuz they're learning material.
It's things like this that remind you that you only have one life and that one day we will return it. So making the most of it, its important to follow your dreams and see things you never thought you would get to see. This has inspired me and I know when I'm gone i won't regret my life. Thank you Wong Fu and I hope to see a lot more!
We met most of the amazing person in our lives unexpected, they just came and give us reasons to go through the struggles we've been through.
Beautiful story. Loved the cinematics. Wong Fu for life!
Excellent Cinematography, I rate this video 5 out of 5 potatoes.
This ending was awesome, makes me want to go out and adventure and grow! I think I'm gonna do that later on down the road, just travel by myself and see all the beauty around!
so it kinda made me cry..and there are not many things i start to cry on, but these little short films are the ones who inspire me the most throughtout my whole life
Goosebumps! I feel like going on an adventure!
amazing!
ayy whats up
all this and he ends up getting friend zoned
An EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL, BRILLIANT + TENDER STORY - kudos Phil.
He was there when she needed a friend the most.
She enabled him to have a richer, fuller life.
Like "Left on Shing Wong", an exceptional piece; with the former, qualify for the Best of Wong Fu.
Now cashiers have better love stories than twilight
She didn't have to move out she only had to switch markets -.-
There were probably other places around the city that brought back memories of her ex
+Cassidy Meow
what kind of memories was she making that ran her out of town. happy memories should not torment you that much. bad ones make you thank God you got out lol.
maybe he beat her? or vocally harassed her? dating violence?
She didn't "move out", she just used that to get away and travel those destinations.
it's harder than you think I guess because when I got hurt by a person I really liked, all the places we went to were really awful. all of my previously favorite places that I took him to suddenly became the worst places and I couldn't go there anymore. I couldn't go around the mall anymore. and even when I wasn't in that mall, the school I went to was the issue or the moon itself because we watched the moon together. the night, its darkness, reminded me of him. sometimes getting out of all the usual places helps in seeing that the world isn't as filled of thoughts of him you know? like there are places he hasn't touched. and I wasn't even in a serious relationship with him and he didn't violate me physically as well. I love this short and I can relate despite its shortness.
Your production group truly has a way of "telling the story" through art. What impresses me the most is that you toy with the notion of not always ending with a "happy ever after" scenario. This approach definitely makes the story more realistic. Well done!
Re-watching wongfu videos and re-falling in love with wongfu shorts again 🥰
i got goosebumps towards the ending lol
Wes broke my heart..
How does Wong-Fu make me cry with every damn video?
I just got out of relationship three weeks ago and this video is speaking my life right now.
you guys......... *sobs tremendously*
these people have great stories❤
You guys always bringing tears into my eyes with these short films. You guys are amazing.
You guys never cease to amaze. Thank you for sharing your stories with us all for all these years.
