    Gw2 remains king no matter which new mmorpg releases. This type of progression is the sole reason this game will remain king above all the rest. I migrated from WoW to this game, never looked back. The greatest thing is in that the value of your money invested in the game never goes down and always stays relevant, it stays important and pays back in return by just having it in convenience, for perfect example that is equipment templates, bag slot expansions, build templates, build template storage expansions, bank slot expansions etc. Those are the top dogs, and will remain as such. Having 14 bags on a hero is amazing, imagine if all those are 32 slots, nuts amount of free space, you wont have to worry for your free space in the next few hours.

      be aware that anet is experimenting with gear progression again(last time was adding ascended gear and infusions 6 months after games launch) Jade bot cores in eod and arbitrarily harder to obtain stat combos, relics added in expacs and undermining legendary gear by moving rune effects to relics and then refusing to create a proper legendary relic ("legendary" relic atm works nothing like any other legendary gear) With this streak of small changes im guessing in the next expac, or the one after it we will be getting another gear slot to farm/progress to.

      @@Just-Yap its been explained in the video, but anyway; leggy gear lets you select any stat combination in game anytime and anywhere (outside of combat). So the legendary relic should work the same, you can select any relic at any time, just like legendary runes did whom the leggy relic is replacing. But the thing is, it doesn't- you have to unlock given relic for it first, so if you want to have a full fledged legendary relic you will need to complete all the relic related achievements first. So its a very gimped version of legendary gear , if ya had leggy you didn't even had to have the related expac but now with full legendary ya need to 1) get the expac 2) go do x activity to unlock it first everytime a new patch drops (since relics are not all released at the launch of the expansion but in batches every few months/every season instead).

      @@graqon_4400 Ooohw okay I thought it was something else. Didn't Aera Net explained that they did that to make people "play" the game at least a little and not just have everything unlocked for free ? I kinda understand both sides on that topic, as a player being upset about what you farmed (time/effort) for is being replaced + the need to put once again time in unlocking the replacement, but as a dev I also understand the desire to see the players "play" your game / the content you added. I hope there is a middle ground like success progress being mostly done from the get go to

      @@Just-Yap i get what they aim for but adding a one time achievement rewards (duplicate relics come from merchants) isn't it. gw2 always had a reward issue where there is a quite small pool of neat skins/drops that are plausible to drop. Adding relics behind x chain event or story step won't change that, as things are the relic system is more limiting build craft wise and all the more "unique" options (with was the main idea being separating 6th bonus from raw stats bonuses) will simply not be used in pve since eazy to get +5%dps ones are already here. might sound like a stretch but gw2 players have meta brainrot and they go where meta goes, anyoff meta relic that will be added wont be used thus anything related to it wont be played much. as player id say create content that is more engaging and stop messing around with my gear to ever so gently twist my arm into doing things im not interested in, i simply still wont do them if gw2 will stay a "evergreen" game that still has all the other zones and events to offer.

    Biggest thing that i would appreciate in gw2 would be a massiv ui overhaul. It find it really bad that you cant costimize the nameplates better or the graphics for the ground effects and on top that their is no cooldowntimer for the skills on the inactive weapon.

    Some corrections:
    New weapon come out on the 28th of this month
    They won't release few new maps, they will complete Nayos with the two lasting SotO patches and that's it
    The new expansion will come with two new strikes with CM at a later date. Each expansion will. One fractal a year as well.

    Took a few year hiatus from gw2. Happy that the gear I had back then is still considered meta/bis. Not many MMOs would allow that.
    This game has always been alt friendly. The best gear is account bound. They even added easily obtainable exotic account bound gear, which is groovy in the weaker armor slots.

    I honestly really like the mini-expansion way of doing it. It's much easier to understand than the old system, and it's a lot easier to buy. "Living World Season" is complicated and requires explaining to new people. The new model is much nicer, in that it's easy to understand, and when you buy it, you get the _entire_ expansion, and don't miss out on the other half (living world) when you do. Besides, if they can keep up with the schedule, one expansion a year, with 4 releases per expansion, that'll be very predictable and easy for the community to keep up with.
    If SotO is a sign of what's to come, I'm very excited for the future. I was worried we'd get something really watered down, and sure the story wasn't super long at release, but there was a wide variety of things added and it felt fulfilling.
    Also the new expansion pricing is really solid. $25 for a year of content is great. It's also fantastic that the game doesn't really put any pressure on you to be there for all of it, you can buy it at the start of the cycle and then hold off on playing it towards the end, and you won't have missed any episodes or whatever.

    In my opinion, 3 maps for an expansion is not good. I am one of those GW2 players who took like a 2-3 year hiatus and came back. And while that is fine, it is not profitable for Anet if they can't keep their players continuously playing the game. This is an MMO, the reason WoW has M+ is to keep players keep playing, there is no such meaningful replay value content such as that in GW2. They are delivering 1/4 expansions at the price of a full expansion every year. I will still continue to play this game but I can't see it succeeding anymore, most of the WoW quitters have moved on to FFXIV. GW2 really has no place in the MMO market anymore unless they start changing the way they approach this game.

    • @DiamondStars-sh6qe
      @DiamondStars-sh6qe 7 місяців тому +1

      Also the way that Anet sells expansions is entirely wrong. In WoW, if you buy the latest expansion, you automatically unlock all the previous expansions before the current one. In GW2, you have to buy a HoT+PoF bundle, a seperate EoD pack, and then a seperate SOTO pack. I don't think most gamers today want to dish out 100+$ for expansion packs on already niche gaming genre; MMORPG. I wouldn't even be surprised if they don't bundle EoD and SOTO together next expansion and new players would have to buy 4 seperate packs just to be able to play the game.

    • @alexanderruiter6981
      @alexanderruiter6981 7 місяців тому +1

      I don’t think the way Anet sells their game is wrong at all. Yes you have to buy a bundle pack, but once you bought it, you own it. You don’t have to pay to keep playing, unlike Wow.

      @@DiamondStars-sh6qe plus they have sales a lot so if you really want all the the expansions you can get them mostly cheap on this sales.
      In the beginning, or maybe I am mistaking, if you bought path of fire or EoD you got the previous expansion for free, but for a business model I understand they removed it.

      I’m a long term player who’s never taken a big break, I’ve played a lot and thought a lot about this. I think 3 is enough but the size of them in SOTO is the issue. The first two are acceptable since it’s two full ones at launch. But the third one is just.. another the size of skywatch? A moderate but not huge map.. split into three parts over a year? No, if it’s going to last a year it needs to be at LEAST EoD size like say seitung if not hugely massive like vabbi. Just a bigger third map would kinda be enough

    Skill does it really matter? That's a kind of a bold statement. it sounds like you haven't played cutting edge raid content or +25 keys in WoW. both of MMOs have their place. wow succeeds in raids and high end dungeon content. guild wars succeeds in exploration, world building, storylines and their mount system is second to none. People can play and like both lol it weirds me how how gatekeepery and Chad like ppl have to be over which is their favorite or which is the best. When raid content comes out in WoW, my team with slap it down and when everyone's ready for a break, I play ESO or gw2 because theyre way less sweaty and more casual games.

      Well I had curve for SoD and vaults of the incarnates (only did Amirdrassil this week for the first time on normal, can't find a hc pug), I only really get to like 16-19 keys, but I agree with you. I've seen guys (mostly locks) like 10ilvl behind me slap just as hard... I'm not saying skill doesn't matter but some people use gear as a crutch to compete with better players... you might get a guys who's bought carries and is rocking like 480+ gear but hitting like a 460.
      All I'm saying is, if I raid in gw2 I know I got the same gear as everyone else, so if my dps is bad, I know it's just me

      I found eso too different to compare it to wow and ff14... like eso, new world and bdo are closer to each other with their action combat style.
      Wow and ff14 have the classic tab targeting style.
      where I guess the combat is closer to eso with dual weilding weapon sets with 5 skills per set but the option of tab targeting like wow.
