I love how time friendly this game is. I just did vision and it took a while but having that trinket upgrade on 9 characters each with 3 specs. Feels nice. Don't get that with other games. And the achievements, while daunting, actually providing gold, skins, gold find and even gems is awesome. Between achievements gems and converting gold I've been able to buy characters slots and other quality of life items free.
This game unfortunately does not appeal to a lot of my friends, even those who like MMOs. People wax poetic about the horizontal progression, but this actually turns off a LOT of MMO players ironically because grinding for skins for a lot of people tend to get stale after a while due to the fact that a lot of people get a few looks they like, then they don't care anymore and skins drops don't particularly have the same excitement you get from power increases. The mastery system in all honesty is a failure at giving people that vertical progression feel as a lot of masteries are locked to specific regions in usage (see: nearly all LS masteries and HoiT ones, plus even some EoD ones) which means they become utterly useless in some areas (when was the last time you used that spiderman vine thing in draconis mons?), and its account bound, so I get it once and I forget it ever existed. Not to mention a ton of skins are gemstore (practically all mount skins are aside from like 2) Plus the wardrobe system, as good as it is, doesn't let you easily swap looks on the fly without buying equipment templates, and that itself is limited to 8 per character and you have to buy it PER character. I could go on, but I don't really want to write an entire essay about gw2 on a youtube comment.
@@omniburn Yes, I do like the game - wouldn't have played it on and off so much if I didn't like a sizeable portion of the game. I don't particularly like SoTO, however, I've barely entered the region since its inception after I've gotten my masteries.
This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've heard recently that there is "no tab target" and yet there is. Its right there in the options. You don't have to... but you certainly can.
i wonder whats actually up for the next year, as we buy expansions but only get to see 1quarter of the finished product and PRAY and HOPE the other 3 quarters of the updates are not a let down as you buy it, before you know the final product value, i hate it that we only get 1 quarter and can only hope the rest thats follows,is similar quality. i personally (*edited*) would wait until all of the updates have launched, and buy the expansion after. so you know what you're going to get before you buy it XD
To answer the main question, yes it is and will be worth it, to answer the 2nd question, me. :P The game only gets better over time. Now, yes, some of the "story" release was a bit of a disappointment but, once you get past certain "spots" within the story that puts one off, you'll be fine. AP & MP are actually easy to get now, granted a few AP are a bit challenging and getting a small group together, makes it easier but, it's worth it. GW2 has so much to offer and add to this, there IS always something to do. Meta's, open world events, SM's, dungeons, fractals, raids, world bosses then, there's the story achieves, hidden achieves, mastery points, crafting, trading, etc., etc. There's always something happening somewhere. What other game gives you the base game for free? None that I'm aware of. Cheers :)
Yeah, the story release always has the risk of being hit or miss. If I'm honest, I play mostly for 99% of the other stuff. Not withstanding, I still want a story, because I like the lore so much as well.
@@phandrel Exactly. I'm similar, I still like a good solid story, IBS kinda went a bit sour for me and then there was the "SooWan" meta. The story does have to help the lore. Cheers :)
Original GW2 or WoW copies from GW2! What a question! Blizzard has been copying GW2 since Shadowlands, every Innovation in WoW comes from GW2! At Blizzcon it will be shown that they copied the entire System from GW2. WoW goes GW2!!
I would definitely recommend trying out the core game first. You're more than likely going to be spending quite some time trying out classes, exploring the map, etc. If you feel you will stick to the game, this is a pretty great time to buy the complete collection, which is 50% off. From what I see on the website, this includes all expansions except the last one + the living world seasons, so that's a pretty great deal at the current price tbh.
I would definetly recommend playing through the core game first. After you have your own opinion on the game you can look up what do the expansions have to offer. They pretty much fix a lot of issues that the core game have so its worth to check them out before making your decision
Core game playthrough 1st for sure - but my advice is to do a couple of extra things too. Highest recommendation is join a few guilds - you can join up to 5 at anytime. This allows you to join 1 for say HP farms, meta events and guild missions, 1 for fractals, 1 for wvw,, 1 for pvp, 1 roleplay if that's your thing. Once you get what each game mode offers you will know what expac to buy or not. A lot of builds are locked into expansions (I.e. you need the expac to play the build) but you really don't need this until your lvl80 + some idea of what's fun for you
Kinda cope to say the new expac system is good. After EOD (which is already inferior to PoF and HoT) it went really downhill in quality, like Gyala Delve and now SOTO. I'm playing through the story of SOTO but it's so boring, metas are dead and overall lack of creativity, like so many reused and reskinned mobs. I'll still play the game in the future because I like it and spent so many hours on it, but I'm definitely have zero hopes for the future. There will never be a new Drizzelwood Coast or Auric Basin ever again because clearly ANet has cut resources from this game
Nope, not worth it this 2024, outdated. Anet just want your money. If you will report a players whos being disrespectful or harass you, they don't do shit. But if its about something that hurts their income like sending gold to friends or other players then they banned you with no further explanation. Take my advice guys look for other games or regret.
No, its not until they release GW3. At its core its the same 12yo game. Ive quit before Heart of Thorns, came back like a week ago and Im already bored.
I was mainly referencing to getting a feel of the combat - the dodging, targeting, etc. Of course, the expansion will change things around for every class. But the chance to try before you buy can be useful for a lot of people.
Base game is free. Base game didn't have mounts and it didn't have elite specializations. Players can live with that till level 80 just like everyone did back in the day.
@@Strikemarker exactly. And each dlc has its maps. So the mount dlc has wide open maps, everything else before that is just as reachable by foot as it was for us back then.

Merry Christmas - your videos have been really nice content this year. Looking forward to what you have planned in 2024 🎄🎄🎄
Thank you so much! Very Merry Christmas to you as well 😊

but do you personally like the game though? (genuinely asking)

Yeah, I maybe should've nuanced it a bit better to make the distinction vs the classic tab targeting such as wow/ffxiv. Thanks for the feedback :)

That is more than a valid approach, and with the amount of content already available, you won't get bored either.
I took a 10+ year break. I cane back, and could just puck off were i left! How many MMOs are like that!
That's the true beauty of GW2 :)
Welcome back!
4:09 There's only 22 different fractals as they repeat, not 25, but I hope we'll have 25 in the future!
Very true! That one slipped by me.
ah well its right ur the guy from yt xD just checked after the ibs5 grp said ur from yt :D
Awesome :D - thanks again for the run, was lovely!

Hello, can you maybe make a video on how to set up blish HUD, I can't speak English very well, only with a translator
Sure thing! I'll get something out there on January:)
I bought the game on the release day 1 and I hsould have more out of that than others who play for free but i don't have anything.

I do it for the fashion lol
oh boy 😃 just one answer: yes 😁
is it worth to buy the expansions for the beginner? Or shouldi tries to play it first without the expansion?

Yeah I was so sad when I saw the reskinned samarog as a normal mob now...
Not a great video, but you touched on the key points.

I think they should have copied ffxiv and new expac every 2 years at least.
As it stands now, we'll get one roughly every year which I like. Especially since they're smaller content wise than what FFXIV delivers I think.
8 minutes of saying yes 😂
No, its not until they release GW3. At its core its the same 12yo game. Ive quit before Heart of Thorns, came back like a week ago and Im already bored.
It's just not your game man. Doesn't mean it's not someone elses.
No. It's not really free. You're locked out alot of end game classes choices, mounts past a short period of time, and can't even enter Lion's Arch.
It's a free trial
I was mainly referencing to getting a feel of the combat - the dodging, targeting, etc.
