Seeing your Barbie structure just now took me straight back to my childhood Christmases and birthdays. Hours of fun for me as a child but not so much for my mum who spent hours doing the assembly and putting on countless stickers lol!
My sister had one of these, I forgot about the vinyl tent that popped out. I must have been in 1st grade in 1971, and remember us both playing with it. And I still own a van as my vehicle, Always loved the idea of sleeping in a place that moved. Just came here looking for one to remind me what it looked like, after watching the wonderful Barbie movie.
I had the Barbie Star Traveler motor home, got it when I was 5, back in 1984. I believe it was first released in 1976. I used it for the Barbie home, it got lots of play by both me and my niece.
Thank you for doing more structures/vehicles. I loved your review of the barbie dreamhouse from the late seventies/early eighties-the A-frame house that is.
A million people have already commented lol, but I had this one when I was a kid and it is the first one. I think it was released with the Malibu dolls in 1971. I wish I kept mine!
I've wanted one of these campers for quite awhile and one in good condition as I love this era of barbie collectables. Its a nice one you have. Nice video!!! Thank you
It's always good to see your videos. I too, am a fan of the Superstar era. Also open to the mod era ones as well. Back then, they put forth better effort in creating quality dolls, and clothing. Now everything is done on the cheap. I don't like the hollow feel the modern barbies of today have. The hair of the eighties dolls was more superior. The houses and vehicles are always fun to see of how things were produced in those days. Thanks for another very enjoyable trip down memory lane.
i am thinking that date may be the copyright from the original.....too much pink on this one on the pic on the box ....the one i had from the early 70s had more orange and yellow..the pull out tent was solid yellow and the chairs were solid orange and yellow
I've got this camper and other stuff from my childhood in good condition. Your camper has the tent and windshield. I have intact wheels on mine. I have the sleeping bags and chairs that go with it. There was a plastic firepit that went with it. I also have superstar Ken and Barbie who have a good time drag racing in their superstar plum and pink colored corvette (in their original outfits) against Malibu Ken and Barbie in their camper on highway 1! I can confirm that the firepit came with the camper!
For anyone who may not know, u can i.d. 98% dolls, action figures, clothes, accessories by taking pic & share w google lens.i took screenshot of blue dress from this video & google lens showed Elsa Frozen blue dresses that matched.
My mother is 58 years old and she said yes, that is indeed the first barbie camper.

It's a cape jacket from a Disney Frozen Elsa doll.
Phoenix Holguin Ah....makes sense. Thanks.
I had that exact camper , still have it although some of the pieces are missing , But I used to play with that camper all the time .

I think it goes to table the yellow poles
There was a beach buggy version, and your country camper. Love it!

The campfire looks the same in barbie, Johnny West, gijoe, & big jim. Maybe was reused to save money. Great Green Arrow shirt btw

@@ebaydrbrads very nice to know! Thanks for sharing. I will try to mention this in an upcoming video!
Thank you for this video. I bought one of these for my mom (she had one as a kid) and couldn’t figure out how to open it up.
Here for the camper review but STOKED bout your Green Arrow Shirt!🏹
Thanks!
That's elsa's cape from FROZEN.
I still have mine!
Also try beauty supply store in your area for SMALL rubberbands (they are used alot for hair braiding and hair styles and are pretty small)
I still have not found them. But will try again at such a store. I tried Sally Beauty and the dollar store.
I had the camper!!! ❤❤❤
Bowling Barbie is somehow perfect for the camper.
I thought so!
I think the Campfire was from Johnny West
Ken, PJ and Barbie
Cute set
This is the best car Mattel ever made! Btw, this must be the 2nd line , the first one had birds on the inside of the backside flap.
I had a Barbie cottage, have you done a review on that one?
That's mine!!!!
There's a wire piece inside of the tent that keeps it up I think. I never knew the steering wheel flipped out! Love this!
Yours is in excellent condition
I Bought a brand new on off Facebook for $ 25 dollars
