Shoutout to you for finding the perfect speaking pace for a video. I didn't have to play it at 1.25 speed, nor did I feel overwhelmed. Right in the pocket, GGs, super uncommon on UA-cam in my experience
Hello and thanks for the video. Can you explain more in detail how you get the shield wall cooldown time so low? I have picked the same talents as you and my shield wall cool down is still at 4 minutes. I could have missed something earlier in your video, or has it been nurfed since your vid came out? thanks
Hey thank you for the comment! The cooldown will display as 4 minutes, but you get massive cooldown reduction after you use shield wall from two talents: Anger Management, and Impenetrable Wall. Between those two, you get 1 second of CDR off of Shield Wall for every 10 rage you spent (this will reduce it by a LOT on its own), and 6 seconds every time you use Shield Slam (which you should be pressing every time it's up, with resets probably every 5 seconds or less). I haven't run tests with timers here but in my experience the CD on Shield Wall usually ends up being around or lower than 1 minute when you're actively in combat.
Hey thanks for the comment! If you're playing Mountain Thane it should be pretty easy to establish threat if you have Avatar up, and it should be up for almost every pack, the first Thunder Blast should get you aggro and put you pretty far ahead on it. If you're grabbing more than one pack, I would make sure to get at least a Thunder Clap/Blast on each pack before you move to the next. If there's a lot of casters, you may need help getting kicks on them to get everything grouped up. Disrupting Shout can be really good for this if it's up as it's both an AoE interrupt and AoE taunt.
I wouldn't expect mastery to be better in PvP for the same reasons it's not great in PvE. You functionally already have 100% block chance if you're maintaining shield block and it provides less offensive value than the other stats point-for-point. The crit block is good but not better than what you'd get defensively from more haste or vers, or crit (via parry chance) in AoE scenarios. For PvP I would try to get haste + vers on every piece.
For the central weakauras I'm using Luxthos's Warrior package (I use his for every class, love the consistency). I've changed my UI a bit since I made the guide, mainly dropping ElvUI due to its impact on performance when in a large raid group. Let me know if you have questions about any other specific parts of the UI though!
Why spear over dragons roar? I feel like the fact you can use it more is great. Co.bined with the talents that gives u rage based on bleeds is crazy to spam ignore pain
Hey thanks for the question! Bloodsurge does give pretty solid rage generation in big AoE scenarios, but it's very RNG against bosses as it's only a 10% chance to grant rage. Spear gives you consistent rage generation and damage output during its window is very good.
Hey thank you for the comment! It's this weakaura: wago.io/RaidAbilityTimeline It integrates with DBM or BigWigs (whichever you prefer) and presents their default timers in a timeline that is MUCH easier to read IMO.
No offense but in the first few minutes u let shield block and ignore pain fall off or just didn’t have them up on the pull. I don’t think following your guide will help me.
That's fair, this was one of the first times I ran Dawnbreaker and I was more focused on what the mobs and bosses were doing, but I should have done a better job keeping SB and IP up. Appreciate the feedback.
@@GazLinn-13 To be clear, this isn't a small mistake in terms of Prot Warrior gameplay. Keeping up SB/IP is integral to the spec's survival and letting it fall off consistently will get you or a party member killed. There were other issues I noticed as well such as frequent rage capping(he even casts Ravager at max rage), Shield Wall isn't used for the first 4 pulls(I skipped ahead to the first time he uses it and it gets panic cast after he drops to 30% hp), Taunt isn't used a single time(not even on boss pull). All of this combined make me believe he has a poor grasp on Prot Warrior specifically if not tanking in general. It's perfectly fine gameplay for a pug tank but not for someone who is writing up and recording a guide for others, imo.

Thank you! It's not easy to do and I don't think I always do a great job of it, but I truly appreciate the kind words :)
Great guide and very well done. Exceptionally thorough without going on forever
Thank you!
I'm really glad it's not changed much over the years, little tweaks here and there. Fab
I agree. Iterations on a very well designed spec!
awesome guide and beard.
this was so helpful to a new player like me u have no idea
I'm glad it was helpful! Thank you for the comment! :)
Hello great guide I'm brand new to prot
Sick guide dude 👌
Thank you! :)
Didn't care much for the idea that not much has changed since basically BFA, but I swapped to Mountain Thane, and it is at least neat visually.
Thanks for this Thor

@@ThordrenekGaming Thanks, I'll give it another try.
really hope they could make ravager a shorter cooldown or some cdr, such a great great pulling kit prot war
Nice simply explained guide. Great.
Thank you!
What WA are you using? The one for ignore pain looks CLEAN
Nice guide bud! Maybe I'll start tanking 🤣🤣😆🤣
nice guide
What is the best way to group and grab aggro? I just starting at a prot warrior just trying to establish the quickest way to group everything.

great stuff, would mastery stat be good for pvp aswell?

are you gunna do other tanks
Probably not all of the tanks, but I may do a few more. I'm working on dungeon guides first though.
